Lloyd E. DeCent
Lloyd Earl DeCent, 68, of North Platte, died April 18, 1997, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 6, 1928, at Wells, Mich., to Lloyd J. and Mildred V. Petersen DeCent. He grew up in the Escanaba, Mich., area and served in the U.S. Army in 1946.
He married Louise Mayes in 1948 and they moved to North Platte in 1954 where he worked for the Duggan and Kuhlmann ranches, Gayman Sand and Gravel and finally for the city of North Platte in the parks department where he enjoyed caring for the animals and the city ice skating pond. He was forced to retire in 1983 due to ill health.
Mr. DeCent was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a boy scout leader and a softball coach when his children were young.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, of North Platte; four daughters, Mona (Kent) Beel of Hershey, Teresa (Russ) Wing of Omaha, Cindy Sandoval of Morril Bay, Calif., and Payton DeCent of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sons, James and Lloyd, both of North Platte; four sisters, Barbara Shepherd of North Platte, Joanne Monette of Portage, Ind., Fran Essary of Horbart, Ind., and Edith Hasbrouck of Hershey; two brothers, James DeCent of Hershey and Claude Shaffer of North Platte; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack DeCent and Sam Shaffer; and a grandson, Denny DeCent. Christian wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Adams and Swanson Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Adams and Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Berger officiating.
Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Great Plains hospice.
Visitation will be noon to 6 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

ArJay Patterson
ArJay Allan Patterson, 31, of Dearborn, Mich., died April 11, 1997, at Madison Heights, Mich., as the result of an auto accident.
He was born Nov. 11, 1965, in Dearborn to Carrlon and Jane Patterson.
He graduated from Thurston High School in Redford, Mich., in 1983, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Michigan. He worked as a system's analyst.
His main interests were scuba diving, fencing, music, swimming, tennis, and many more.
Survivors include his parents of Dearborn; a sister, Lael (Duane) Redick of Northville, Mich.; grandmothers, Margaret E. Fisher of North Platte and Zatha Johannesen of Amarillo, Texas; three aunts, Michelle Campbell of North Platte, Tracy (Mark) Kichline of Fishers, Ind., and Shirley (Bill) Levine of Columbia, Md.; two uncles, Kent (Sandy) Fisher of North Platte and Bob (Helen Mar) Johannesen of Amarillo; a nephew, Kevin; a niece, Suzanna; and several cousins. Memorials are suggested to the Children's Leukemia Foundation.
There was a memorial service Tuesday. The body was cremated.
Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Redford, Mich., was in charge of arrangements.

Muriel Worth
MERNA — Graveside services for Muriel Worth, 94, of Merna will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Merna Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Jones officiating.
Survivors include three nephews, Dick Worth and Dennis Worth of Merna and Jim Worth of Grand Island and two nieces, Donna Lee Young of Westwood, Calif., and Lois Jean Pickett of Castro Valley, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to noon Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow, which is in charge of arrangements.

Virgil C. Wilson
COZAD — Virgil Wilson, 72, died April 18, 1997, at the Cozad Community Hospital.
He was born October 10, 1924, at Norfolk to Cecil and Mildred Conn Wilson and attended school at Butte. On May 3, 1947, he married Edna Bouslough.
They made their home in Nebraska, Wyoming and Iowa where he worked in the trucking business and had also driven a Greyhound Bus.
They came to Cozad in 1963 and he operated Mumbys Service Station until 1969 when he moved to Greeley, Colo., where he was in the trucking business until his retirement. He then returned to Cozad in 1988.
Survivors include five daughters, Connie (Verlin) Wuehler, Carol Carbaugh, Kathy (Gary Hosick, all of Cozad, Christy (Ron) Tucker and Cindy Wilson, both of Cortez, Colo.; two sons, Cecil (Sherrie) Wilson of Greeley, Colo., and Craig (Kathleen) Wilson of Gothenburg; two sisters, Dorothy (Elmer) Bachman of Hesperia, Calif., and Shirley (Johnny) Payton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Keith (Dorothy) of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Dale (Maryann) of Thornton, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife in 1982; an infant son, Larry; a granddaughter, Jenny; a great-grandson; and several brothers and sisters. Memorials are suggested to the Grand Generation Center or Central Plains Home Health and Hospice.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Neben officiating. A private burial will be at the Butte Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, which is in charge of arrangements.

John William Benkosky
John William Benkosky, 88, of North Platte died Jan. 19, 2001, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.
He was born April 25, 1912, to Oscar and Cordelia Smith Benkosky at Wellfleet. He grew up in the Wellfleet and Wallace areas. He attended Medicine Valley School at Medicine Creek as well as Wellfleet and Wallace schools.
On March 18, 1929, he married Wilma O’Connell. They lived in Wallace and North Platte. He was a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1975. He was baptized in the St. James Church in Curtis and later in the First Baptist Church at Wellfleet. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie 2839, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 985, Moose Lodge 551 and the Union Pacific Railroad Athletic Club.
Mr. Benkosky is survived by a daughter, LaVaughn (Jerry) Lebsock of Riverside, Calif.; two sons, Derald (Jean) of Soquel, Calif., and Jack of Indio, Calif.; a sister, Hazel (Ralph) Pierpoint of North Platte; a sister-in-law, Maxine (Ted) Hauglund of North Platte; a brother-in-law, Wayne Watson of Brighton, Colo.; five grandchildren, Sheri Benkosky of Corralitos, Calif., Mike Benkosky of Scotts Valley, Calif., Vicki (Matt) Jacobs of Santa Cruz, Calif., Mark (Brigitte) Lebsock of Riverside and Terry (Jennifer) Lebsock of San Jacinto, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Travis and Danelle Lebsock, and Suzi and Justin Jacobs.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson, Marty Lebsock.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. David Heintzleman officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

Deloris J. Boshart
MILFORD — Deloris Jean Boshart, 70, of Milford, mother of Mike Boshart of North Platte, died Jan. 21, 2001, at Sunrise Country Manor near Milford.
She was born June 27, 1930, on a farm west of Milford to Jake and Mary Danner Stutzman. She attended Stauffer Country School west of Milford. She was baptized at the East Fairview Mennonite Church.
On Sept. 26, 1948, she married Burdette J. Boshart in Milford. They lived in Milford, where she was a charter member of the Beth-El Mennonite Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Boshart is survived by her husband; four daughters, Pat (Lynn) Hostetler of Columbia, Mo., Holly (Roger) Hostetler of Beaver Crossing, Carla (Don) Yeackley of Milford and Pam (Van) Wurst of Columbus; a son, Mike (Michelle) of North Platte; 10 grandchildren, Pia and Walter Capell, Chris and Jessica Hostetler, Michael Hostetler, Corey Hostetler, Tara Yeackley, Travis and Tracy Yeackley, Trevor Boshart, Taylor Boshart, Rhett Wurst and Kasey Wurst; a great-granddaughter, Adison Capell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Dick, Wilbur, Harley and Elden Stutzman.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at the Beth-El Mennonite Church in Milford with the Rev. Marlin Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Milford Mennonite Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time today at the church.
Lauber-Moore Funeral Home is in charge.

Freda Morgan
BROKEN BOW — Freda Morgan, 95, of Broken Bow, formerly of Omaha and Loup City, died Jan. 20, 2001, at the Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
She was born April 21, 1905, at Cordova to Herman and Blanche Roush Schneller. Her childhood was spent in Buffalo County. She attended Kearney State Teachers College, where she graduated in 1927. After completing her education she taught school and then worked for the Omaha School District for more than 40 years.
She was confirmed into the Lutheran church and attended church regularly.
On July 2, 1933, she married John F. Morgan at Ravenna and they spent more than 50 years together. Her husband died Nov. 30, 1984. When her health began to fail, she moved to Kearney and later moved to the Sandhills Manor nursing home.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by nieces, nephews and other family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Louise Cross and Emma Schmaljohn; and two brothers, Roy and Floyd.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with the Rev. Shawn Kitzing officiating.
Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge.

Phillip Spanel
BROKEN BOW — Phillip James Spanel, 73, of Broken Bow died Jan. 22, 2001, at the Heritage Hall nursing home in Broken Bow.
He was born July 6, 1927, at Anselmo to Frank and Caroline Knoell Spanel.
On Oct. 26, 1955, he married Karen Joy Woods at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow. Later he bought Top Tune Amusement, which he owned and operated until retiring seven years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Broken Bow Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
Mr. Spanel is survived by his wife; two daughters, Celeste (Bill) Baumert of Gretna and Lisa (Michael) Bell of Flowery Branch, Ga.; two sons, Gregory Scott (Yolonda) of Broken Bow and Craig (Betsy) of Callaway; four brothers, Lawrence (Karen) Spanel and Robert (Phyllis) Spanel, both of Grand Island, Victor (Elaine) Spanel, of El Centro, Calif., and Francis “Andy” (Pat) of Heber Springs, Ark.; a mother-in-law, Leona Woods of Broken Bow; a brother-in-law, Donald (Cordie) Woods of Hastings; 13 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise Spanel.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church in Broken Bow with the Rev. Todd Philipsen officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge.

Mollie E. Adkins
Mollie Ethel Adkins, 93, of North Platte died Jan. 18, 2001, at Centennial Park Retirement Village.
She was born, March 9, 1907, to Lantford and Martha Ellen Williams Boggs at Lewellen.
She married Arlie V. Adkins in 1924 at Julesburg, Colo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1975. She moved to North Platte in 1933 and had lived here since.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Does Drove 109, the Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Auxiliaries, the Ladies of the Moose, the UTU and the Navy Mothers.
Mrs. Adkins is survived by two sons, Darwin V. of North Platte and Jarred D. (Lois) of Omaha; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James Hawley of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Vera Douglass Folchert
Vera E. Folchert, 95, of North Platte died Jan. 20, 2001, at Premier Estates in North Platte.
She was born June 23, 1905, in Dundy County, near Haigler, to Fred and Ethel Calkins Cuddeback. Her childhood was spent in Nebraska, where she received her education.
In 1923, she married Lawrence M. Douglass and they lived near Cushing and Dunning for more than 20 years. In 1955, they moved to Grand Island. He preceded her in death in 1966. She worked at the veterans’ hospital in Grand Island for more than 13 years before retiring in 1976 and moving to North Platte.
In 1977, she married Leonard Folchert . He preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Folchert is survived by two daughters, Freda (Wendle) Hagmann of Grand Island and Janice (Gordon) Hendrickson of Payette, Ind.; five sons, Jerold (Jackie) Douglass of Merna, Alvin (Dorothy) Douglass of North Platte, Les Douglass and Vance (Jan) Douglass, both of Ashby, and Dennis (Barbara) Douglass of Grand Island; a stepdaughter, Jeanie Hansen of Alliance; a son-in-law, Ernie Wempen of Overton; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; fivw great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Leila Wempen; a daughter-in-law, Karen K. Douglass; two grandsons, Gary Hagmann and David Douglass; a great-grandson, Clint Douglass; two sisters; and four brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Robert Kuefner of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.
