Floyd L. ‘Stub’ Latimer
WELLFLEET — Floyd L. “Stub” Latimer, 93, of Wellfleet died Jan. 20, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 19, 1907, in Maywood to James J. and Agnes V. Cooper Latimer. He grew up and attended school in Maywood.
On Oct. 31, 1934, he married Pauline Soules in North Platte. He farmed in the Wellfleet area before going to work for the Maywood school system as a custodian and bus driver for 12 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wellfleet and the Odd Fellows for more than 35 years. He was the caretaker of the Wellfleet, Ash Grove, Wellfleet Lutheran and Evergreen Cemeteries. He enjoyed woodworking, farming and fishing.
Mr. Latimer is survived by his wife; a son, Kavin (Debbie) of Wellfleet; three grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Laura Evans; and two brothers, Harry and Newton Latimer.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Wellfleet with the Rev. Martin Leeper officiating. Inurnment will be in Wellfleet Cemetery.
The body was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from noon. to 6 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.

William ‘Bill’ Rothwell
ARTHUR — William ‘Bill’ Rothwell, 72, a lifetime rancher in Arthur and Grant Counties, died January 19, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born March 2, 1928, in Hyannis to George W. and Gladys Crouch Rothwell. He graduated from Curtis High School in 1945. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 1˝ years.
On Nov. 6, 1949, he married Shirley Jean Coleman at the Alliance Methodist Church. They moved to the family ranch in 1949 and lived there until the early 1990s. He also sold Moorman Feed.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ of Hyannis, the Masonic Lodge of Hyannis, the Kappa Sig Fraternity and the Elks Lodge of Alliance.
Mr. Rothwell is survived by his wife; three daughters, Pamela Sue (Rick) Arrants of Alliance, Polly Ann (Al) Gunther of Bloomfield, and Peggy Theresa (Matt) Jolovich of Torrington, Wyo.; a son, Robert D. (Terry) of Hyannis; two sisters, Phyllis (Louie) Knoflicek and Martha Warday, all of Alliance; three brothers, Robert (Ann) Rothwell of Lincoln, Max (Lorine) Rothwell of Tryon and Gene Rothwell of Monument, Colo.; a brother-in-law, Robert (Phyllis) Coleman of Casper, Wyo.; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, William D. Rothwell, and his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Arthur Baptist Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Arthur Baptist Church with the Rev. Glendon Epp officiating. Burial will be in the Hyannis Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Esther M. Schroeder
ELWOOD — Esther Schroeder, 88, of Elwood died Jan. 19, 2001, at Holdrege.
She was born Dec. 18, 1912, southwest of Elwood in Gosper County to Wellington and Alice Leggot Hall. She attended the Ash Grove rural school and graduated from Elwood High School in 1930. After attending Kearney College, she taught rural schools near Elwood.
On May 18, 1938, she married Archie Schroeder. The couple lived in Idaho before returning to Nebraska, where she taught school again near Elwood. They later moved to Gothenburg for several years before returning to Elwood. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. Schroeder was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in church work. She was a member of the DUO Club and during her lifetime enjoyed gardening and quilting.
She is survived by two daughters, Meridee (Randell) Debban of Lexington and Carol (Don) Manning of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Alene Jones of Elwood and Helen Peacock of San Diego; three grandchildren, Lianne (Earl) Umbenhower, Loren (Jean) Debban and Shari (Lance) Rogers; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle, and a grandson, Kyle Joe.
A memorial has been established.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church at Elwood with the Rev. Fred Andersen officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church at Elwood.
Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad is in charge.

Douglas Lee Gibson
Douglas Lee Gibson, 20, of Ogallala died Jan. 18, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 10, 1980, in Denver, Colo., to David and Diane Pierce Gibson. He attended school in Englewood, Colo. The family moved to Ogallala in 1992, where Doug attended Ogallala High School.
He worked for the Variety Center from age 13 until the store closed. He then worked with his parents at their Red Pepper Restaurant. He was employed at the Ogallala Moose Lodge at the time of his death. He always enjoyed those he worked with and came in contact with. The special times were those spent with the family.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his parents, Diane and Dave Gibson of Ogallala; his grandparents, Florence Gibson of Englewood and Shirley Pierce of Ogallala; a brother, Christopher Gibson of Ogallala; four aunts, Debra Axmacher of Littleton, Colo., Martha Treat of Portland, Ore., Charlene Wirth of Omaha and Esther Edwards of North Platte; an uncle, Jim Gibson of Englewood; and several nieces and nephews.

Crystal Jo Gibson
Crystal Jo Gibson, 18, of Ogallala died Jan. 18, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
She was born July 13, 1982, in Ogallala to Jose and Jeanie Tjaden Gallegos. When she was 4 years old, the family moved to Sterling, Colo., and she attended elementary school
The family moved to Denver, where she attended William Smith High School. In 1998, she returned to Ogallala and was employed at Travel Service of America. In 1999, she began working for Taco John’s.
In April 2000, she married Doug Gibson in Ogallala, where the couple made their home.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by her mother, Jeanie Webb of Ogallala; her father, Jose Gallegos of Denver; a grandmother, Emma Gene Tjaden of Brule; her grandparents, Juan and Amada Gallegos of Roscoe; four sisters, Tamera Gallegos and Stephanie Gallegos, both of Ogallala, Jessica (Jeremiah) Tafoya of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Tana Gallegos of Denver; a brother, Bryan Gallegos of Ogallala; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Kyle Robert Lee Gallegos
Kyle Gallegos, 2˝, of Ogallala died Jan. 18, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1998, in Ogallala to Doug Gibson and Crystal Gallegos Gibson.
He is survived by his grandparents, Jeanie Webb, Jose Gallegos, and Diane and Dave Gibson; great-grandparents, Florence Gibson, Shirley Pierce, Emma Gene Tjaden, and Juan and Amada Gallegos; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Levi David Gibson
Levi Gibson, age 4 months, of Ogallala died Jan. 18, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 2000, in Ogallala to Doug and Crystal Gallegos Gibson.
He is survived by his grandparents, Jeanie Webb, Jose Gallegos and Diane and Dave Gibson; great-grandparents, Florence Gibson, Shirley Pierce, Emma Gene Tjaden, and Juan and Amada Gallegos; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial has been established for the Gibson Family by the Ogallala Moose Lodge Family Relief Fund. The contact person is Bill Armstrong at (308) 289-5592. The following financial institutions will accept donations: Valley Bank, Adams Bank and Trust, Pinnacle Bank of Ogallala and the Bank of Keystone.

Daphne P. Kufeldt
CENTRAL CITY — Daphne P. Kufeldt, 69, of rural Central City, formerly of the Maxwell area, died Jan. 12, 2001, at Litzenburg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
She was born Aug. 17, 1931, at Maxwell to Charley I. and Nellie P. Bullis Peck.
On June 9, 1948, she married Philip Kufeldt at Lexington. In 1973, they moved to an acreage east of Central City. She was a member the Pythian Sisters and a coach for many of the Hamilton/Merrick County Special Olympics teams.
Mrs. Kufeldt is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Bill) Bolte of Central City; two sons, Alex (Susan) of Kearney and Philip (Vickie) of Clarks; five sisters, Gail Murray of Ozark, Mo., Shirley (Virgil) Hoskins of Arnold, Charlotte (Merlin) Nelson of Knoxville, Iowa, Barbara Golden of Hastings, and Judy (Dennis) Zimbelman of Cozad; a brother, David (Charlene) Peck of Cozad; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Skylar; two sisters, Izola Mae and Sharon Rose; and a brother, Charles Allen.
Memorials are suggested to Hamilton/Merrick County Special Olympics, the Litzenburg Memorial County Hospital Foundation or the Timberlake Ranch Camp.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Central City with Ellen Campbell officiating and assistance from the Revs. Charles Pollard and Joy Savage. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.

G. Lloyd Maline
G. Lloyd Maline, 97, of North Platte died Jan. 18, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 22, 1903 northwest of Cozad to John A. and Ida Anderson Maline. The family moved to a farm south of North Platte in 1927 where he farmed, ranched and had a Grade A Dairy in partnership with his father and brothers.
On May 11, 1941, he married Lila Owen at the Maline family farm. They had nine children. When they moved to North Platte in 1962, he purchased a wholesale food distribution business.
He was a member of the North Platte Berean Church and for many years served on the official board. He also served on the District 127 School Board (Osgood Elementary School).
Mr. Maline is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mary Ann (Rod) Karre of Westminster, Colo., Ida Mae (Bill) Lauer of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Coleen (Leo) Chingren and Kathleen (Charlie) Huebner of North Platte; five sons, Gustaf (Sharron) of Thornton, Colo., Bob (Sherry) of Sutherland, and Allen (Susan), Carl (Darlene) and Bill, all of North Platte; a sister, Inez; two brothers, Ivan (Bertha) and Stanley (Doris); and two sisters-in-law, Grace and Charlotte Maline, all of North Platte; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, who died when he was an infant; his parents, John and Christine; a sister, Leneah; three brothers, Earl, Chet and Clifford; and a sister-in-law, Dee.
Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Berean Church.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the North Platte Berean Church with the Revs. Carl Goltz and Tom Walker officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Walnut Grove Cemetery northeast of Gothenburg.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel and before the service Monday at the church.

John L. Evans
John L. Evans, 81, of North Platte, formerly of Fillmore County, died Jan. 18, 2001, at Linden Court in North Platte.
Mr. Evans, a lifelong resident of Fillmore County, moved to North Platte in May 2000 to be closer to his family. While living at Linden Court, he enjoyed making friends with the residents and staff.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Wally) Geist of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a son, Steve (Liz) of North Platte; five grandchildren, Carrie, Sarah and Zach Geist of Pittsburgh, and Sarah and Laura Evans of North Platte; a sister, Lila Wilkerson of Geneva; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; and a brother, Art Evans.
A memorial has been established.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harmony Cemetery in Strang (Thayer County).
Visitation will be Friday at Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva, with local arrangements by Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte.
