Gloria D. Bogus
Gloria D. Bogus, 65, of North Platte died Jan, 16, 2001, at her home.
She was born on June 23, 1935, at Tryon to Delbert and Violet Kisler Haynes. She was raised in Tryon and Maxwell, attended Maxwell High School and later received her GED in 1986.
In 1952, she married Calvin D. Stewart and they lived in St. Joseph, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1964. She then moved to North Platte.
In 1970, she married Wilbert A. Bogus. She worked at Montgomery Ward, the American Legion and Farm Fare, and retired from Shopko in 2000.
Mrs. Bogus is survived by a daughter, Norma (Randy) Bomschein of North Platte; three sons, Calvin Stewart of Virginia Beach, Va., David Bogus of North Platte and Frank Bogus of Gautier, Miss.; seven sisters, Marge Masters and Rozella McMurtry, both of North Platte; Florence (Lloyd) Hilton of Grand Junction, Colo., Joyce Hatfield of Ontario, Ore., Vivian Skelton of Springfield, Mo., Marlene Bernier of Waterford, Conn., and Carolyn (Jim) Burns of Lincoln; a brother, Dwayne (Doris) Haynes of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas and James; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Haynes.
Memorials are suggested to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center Hospice Program.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.

Florence M. ‘Flossie’ Kelly
OGALLALA — Florence M. “Flossie” Kelly, 92, of Ogallala died Jan. 15, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 7, 1908, in Linn, Miss., to W. H. and Alice McKnight Franken. The family moved to Colorado in 1916, and then to Ogallala in 1918. Following her graduation from high school, she attended St. Joseph’s School for Nursing in Omaha. She worked in Ogallala for many years as a registered nurse.
On Nov. 19, 1935, she married Mike Kelly at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala. They lived north of Ogallala until 1953, when they moved into town. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by two sisters, Verdie Peters and Evelyn Feltz, both of Ogallala, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jerry; a sister, Wilma Frost; and a brother, Shirley Franken.
A memorial has been established.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Gubser Funeral Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala, with the Rev. Joe Steele as celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the Rosary today at the Gubser Funeral Chapel in Ogallala.

Laura I. Lefferdink
GOTHENBURG — Laura I. Lefferdink, 88, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Goldcrest Nursing Home in Adams.
She was born Dec. 2, 1912, to Chris and Caroline Duis Gronewold at Gothenburg. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1930.
She was a lifetime member to the American Lutheran Church, was a member of the Pleasant View Extension Club for 44 years, and was a former member of the Women’s Bowling Association for 22 years, where she was league secretary.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeanette Kandler of LaSalle, Mich., Carolyn (Larry) Goering of Hickman and Glenda (Chuck) Crate of Belton, Mo.; a-son, James (Carol) Garrelts of Ogden, Utah; a sister, Doris Keiser of Gothenburg; a stepson, Dean Lefferdink of Firth; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence Garrelts and Richard Lefferdink; her parents; two sisters, Linda and Jewel; two brothers, Ted and Bill; a daughter-in law, Virginia Garrelts; a-son-in-law, Ronald Kandler; and a grandson, Charles Crate III.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church or the Gold Crest nursing home in Adams.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeff Ruetten officiating. Burial will be at the American Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at Blase Memorial Chapel.

Alan K. ‘A.K.’ Woody
Alan K. “A.K.” Woody, 73, of North Platte died Jan. 15, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
He was born Feb. 13, 1927, at Arcadia to Harvey J. and Lena Moore Woody and graduated from Arcadia in 1945.
On Jan. 7, 1951, he married Margaret Mary Kaslon at Arcadia and shortly after that he left for Fort Riley, Kan., and served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he returned to Arcadia and sold cars. He later worked for John Deere before moving to York. They returned to Arcadia in 1961 to operate the family business, Woody’s Tavern. They moved to Grand Island before moving to North Platte in 1964. He worked for James E. Simon Co. before bartending at the Platte Bar and the House Bar. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and helped build the North Platte Library, the new Veterans of Foreign Wars building, Cravens Pharmacy, the House Bar and many other local business buildings.
In 1993, they moved to Las Vegas, where he was employed by Jackie Gaughan at the El Cortez. In 2000, they returned to North Platte and lived at Autumn Park. He enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, spending time with his grandchildren, coin collecting, playing cards, doing puzzles and having morning coffee with dear friends.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Moose Lodge 551, Eagles Aerie No. 2839, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1504, where he was commander from 1988-1993, and was a past member of P.R. Halligan Post 163, American Legion.
Mr. Woody is survived by his wife of North Platte; five daughters, Cheryl Kay (Jerry) Hogue of Eugene, Ore., Mary Jane (Bill) Erickson of Las Vegas, Carol Jean (Gary) Hovey, Janet Lee (Bill) Kelsey and Joyce Lynn Pell, all of North Platte; two sons, Kevin John (Nikki) of North Platte and Alan Joe (Sherri) of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lois (Clyde) Chamberlin of Arlington, and Alice (Robert) Hruby of Ord; a brother, Don (Betty) Woody of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren, Erica, Matt, Jamin, Melissa, Mindy, Ashley, Michelle, Christa, Ryan, Calley, Andrew, Jessica, Tiffany and Austin; a great-grandson, Taylor; an aunt, Dorothy Burns of Lexington; and a sister-in-law, Lavonne Woody of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rita Marie Woody; and a brother, Dean Woody.
A memorial has been established.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Guevara as celebrant. Inurnment of the cremains will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with military honors by the North Platte Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel and before the Rosary at the church.

Camilla Conner
CURTIS — Camilla Conner, 75, died Jan. 12, 2001, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
She born June 5, 1925, southwest of Maywood in Frontier County to Harry and Hope Towne Robertson. She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1944.
On Oct. 24, 1948, she married Delbert Lewis Conner in Curtis. They moved from the farm west of Maywood into Curtis in 1970.
Beginning in 1977, Mrs. Conner was a dorm mother at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. She retired in September 1987. She also served as an emergency medical technician for Frontier County for many years. She enjoyed quilting over the years.
She was a member of the Wellfleet Rebekahs, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member of the Frontier Stitchers Quilt Guild and she helped with the bloodmobile.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis (Lyn) of Arvada, Colo., and David (Becky) of Winterset, Iowa; a brother, Roland Robertson of Arizona City, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Dennis (Maggie) Conner Jr. of Laramie, Wyo., Stephanie Conner of Arvada, and Megan and Matthew Conner, both of Winterset; and two great-grandchildren, Makayla Markey of Arvada and Kendryck Conner of Laramie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Nelson and Edmund.
A memorial has been established.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with the Rev. Shirley Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Dorothy H. Cusimano
BROKEN BOW — Dorothy H. Cusimano, 98, of Blue Springs, Mo., formerly of the Sherman and Custer county areas, died Jan. 13, 2001, at St. Marys Hospital in Blue Springs.
She was born nine miles south of Loup City in a sod house on May 26, 1902, to Samuel S. and Matilda L. Huncker Chilson. She spent most of her life in Loup City where she worked at various jobs as a hotel and school cook and church secretary while raising her two children and caring for her parents. She moved to Blue Springs in 1999 to be near her family.
Mrs. Cusimano is survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Siecke of Independence, Mo.; a son, Larry R. (Lynn K.) of Grandview, Mo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, a grandson and a son-in-law.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with the Rev. Mark Cadenbach officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to time of services today at the Methodist Church in Loup City.

C. Robert ‘Bob’ Dishman
SUTHERLAND — C. Robert ‘Bob’ Dishman, 55, of Sutherland, a former Sidney resident, died Jan. 13, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Feb. 2, 1945, at Scottsbluff to Clyde A. and Teresa M. Delaney O’Rourke Dishman.
Mr. Dishman was employed by Cash-Wa Distributing Co. for the past 36 years. His customers and fellow employees were always special to him. His free time was spent with family or enjoying golf, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Sutherland; four daughters, Corinne Fischer of Chappell, Robin Wolvin of McCook, Teresa Hausmann of Columbus and Bridget Dishman of Gurley; three sons, Michael of Folkston, Ga., Eric of Lodgepole and Andrew of Gurley; three stepdaughters, Rebecca and Kimberly Daro of Ogallala and Katherine Daro of Denver; a stepson, Jarod Daro of Fort Collins, Colo.; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a sister, Colleen Dowell of Sterling, Colo.; and his stepmother, Helen Dishman of Gering.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother.
Memorials are to the family’s choice.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church in Sidney with the Rev. Marty Egging officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Gehrig & Son Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

Richard L. “Rick” Easton Jr.
Richard Lee “Rick” Easton Jr., 48, a North Platte native, died unexpectedly Jan. 12, 2001, at his home in Box Elder, S.D.
He was born Nov. 9, 1952, to Richard L. Sr. and Yvonne L. Koster Easton. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1971 and from North Platte Junior College in 1973. He then attended Kearney State College where he received his bachelor’s degree in special education and physical education. He also did graduate work at Kearney State.
Following his education, he worked with his grandmother, Ruby Koster, at the Educational Service Unit 16 in North Platte for many years. He left North Platte to take a position as a recreational therapist with the South Dakota Development Center in Custer, S.D. At the time of his death, he was an accountant with Uncle Sam’s Casino in Rapid City, S.D.
Survivors include his mother of North Platte; three sisters, Pamela (David) Kearns and Lori Easton, both of Lakewood, Colo., and Kim (Kevin) Oltman of North Platte; two nephews, Daniel Dotson and Kody Oltman of North Platte; and his special friend, Sue Rothlisberger and her son, Matt, of Box Elder.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Patricia.
A memorial has been established.
Memorial Mass will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Platte with the Rev. Tom Dillon as celebrant. Inurnment will be in North Platte Cemetery.
The body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Vonnie J. ‘Jeanie’ Gibson
KEARNEY — Vonnie J. “Jeanie” Gibson of Beaver Lake, a former resident of Broken Bow and Mullen, died Jan. 13, 2001, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. She was 46.
She was born Nov. 7, 1954, to Vilas H. and Neva J. Jones in Broken Bow. Her childhood years were spent in Mullen and in 1973, she graduated from Mullen High School. After high school, she was a teacher’s aide at the Coble School northwest of Mullen.
On May 29, 1976, she married Daniel P. Gibson in Mullen. The couple moved to Kearney where she was employed at Killion Motors, Bryant Elementary School and Buzz’s Marine. In 1992, they moved to Gibbon. In 1998, they moved to the Omaha area. She was employed at Tincher Auto Group of Plattsmouth.
Mrs. Gibson had a colorful sense of humor and bright smile and jubilant personality that touched many lives.
Survivors include her husband of Beaver Lake; her children, Terra and Wade, both of Lincoln; a sister, Bonnie Bain of Curtis; two brothers, Don Jones of Omaha and Ron Jones of Hastings; and her mother and stepfather, Neva and Garlan Andrews, both of Mullen.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church or Bryant Elementary, both in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Kearney with Mother Janet Sturgis officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at O’Brien-Straatman-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney.
