Ethel N. Lehmann
COZAD — Ethel Lehmann, 89, of Cozad died Feb. 13, 2001, at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born June 12, 1911, near Eustis to John and Minnie Oelkers Koch. She attended rural school and graduated from Eustis High School.

On Aug. 22, 1928, she married Harvey Lehmann. The couple lived on a farm south of Eustis before moving to Cozad in 961. She had been employed at the Cozad Hospital for several years.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1994 and she had made her home at the Elwood Care Center for the past seven years.

Mrs. Lehmann taught Sunday school for several years at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis before transferring her membership to the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Sherman (Nora) of Eustis, John (Dixie) of Ferryville, Wis., and Larry (Georgina) of Minden; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edna Rinacke, and three brothers, Arthur, Ervin and Reuben.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad with the Rev. Robert E. Sachs officiating. Burial will be in the West View Cemetery at Eustis.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

Ronda Mahan
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Ronda K. Mahan of Cheyenne, Wyo., sister of Ron Gerken of North Platte, died Feb. 12, 2001, in Cheyenne after dealing with a heart condition. She was 56.

She was born Oct. 12, 1944, to Charles and Clarita Gerken in North Platte.

Mrs. Mahan retired from Laramie County (Wyo.) School District 1 in June 2000 after 31 years of teaching. She was involved in many activities at the school and served on numerous district committees. She was a past president of Cheyenne Teachers Education Association and served in many positions within the organization. She was also active in the Wyoming Education Association and the National Education Association.

She sponsored many student organizations and activities, including Future Business Leaders of America, cheerleading sponsor from 1969 to 1978 and student senate. She served as the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo secretary for 30 years. She was the current president of the Ladies of the Elks 660. She was a member of the dart league and of the Elk’s Thursday night bowling league.

Her two dogs, Brooke and Frasier, were special to her.

Also surviving her is her husband, Wayne Mahan of Cheyenne; three nieces, Jill Siemers and Kristi Gerken, both of North Platte, and Amy Gerlach of Dewitt; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding her in death was her mother and father; stepmother, Lydia Gerken; and grandmother, Grace Molley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or the Elks Lodge 660 Scholarship Fund.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Storey Gymnasium with the Rev. Joe Geders officiating.

Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne is in charge.

Roberta O. Drullinger

Roberta O. Drullinger, 84, of North Platte died Feb. 15, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born June 16, 1916, near Keokuk, Iowa, to Mayfield and Rita Wilsey Roberts. She grew up in the Chadron area. As a teenager, she loved horses and participated in many rodeos, usually in the saddle bronc event. She and her sister also did trick riding together. She graduated from Chadron High School in 1934 and attended Chadron State College.

On Jan. 11, 1936, she married Robert Drullinger at Hot Springs, S.D. They lived their entire married life in Chadron. In December 1998, she moved to North Platte.

Mrs. Drullinger was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Chadron, the Christian Women’s Club, the Chadron Hospital Auxiliary and Republican Women. She taught Sunday school for many years and was involved in child evangelism and Awana.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce (Martin) Piskorski of North Platte; two sons, David of Cedarville, Ohio, and Darrell (Leann) of North Platte; two sisters, LaVonne (Glen) Williams of Chadron and Hilda Whiting of San Antonio; three brothers, James (Laura) Roberts of Burwell, Wayne (Velma) Roberts of Elkhart, Kan., and Bob (Barbara) Roberts of Minden; seven grandchildren, Larry (Julie) and Jeff (Michelle) Buck, and Randall (Leah), Carla, Shea, Brittany and Kalen Drullinger; five great-grandchildren, Danny and Chloe Drullinger, Ayla and James Buck and Krista Dotson; a sister-in-law, Stella Drullinger of North Platte; eight stepgrandchildren; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Vic and Wilbur Roberts.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10 a.m. CST Monday at the First Baptist Church in North Platte and at 10:30 a.m. MST Tuesday at the Bible Baptist Church in Chadron. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Chadron.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today and Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. MST Monday at the Bible Baptist Church in Chadron.

Gloria MacKenzie

DENVER — Gloria Lee MacKenzie, 65, of Denver, formerly of Ogallala, died Feb. 14, 2001, at Vencor Hospital in Denver.

She was born Aug. 2, 1935, to Arza and Iva Stott Tharp in Custer County. In 1940, the family moved to a farm nine miles east of Cozad. She attended District 32 school through the eighth grade and graduated from the University of Agriculture at Curtis in 1954.

On July 2, 1955, she married Lowell MacKenzie in Ogallala. They moved to Denver in 1963.

She was employed at various jobs and retired in 1999 after working for 18 years at Safeway grocery store.

Mrs. MacKenzie is survived by three daughters, Toni (Brett) Sirios of Wiggins, Colo., and Terri (Mark) Sewald and Tanya (Mike) Fonseca, all of Broomfield, Colo.; a sister, Joyce (Dick) Robb of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law, Doralee Burch of Ogallala; a brother-in-law, Waldo (Joyce) MacKenzie of Chugwater, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren, Nichole, Tyler, Autum, Danielle, Janelle, Michelle, Brian, Nathan, Niki, Dustin and Levi; three great-grandchildren, Camron, Anthony, and Mariah; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, on April 21, 1995.

Memorials are suggested to the National Jewish Hospital in Denver.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday from the Draucker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Norris officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and until the time of service Monday at the Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Sari Ann Sessum
PARAGON, Ind. — Sari Ann Sessum, 30, of Paragon, Ind., granddaughter of Elsie Meryln Easton of North Platte, died Feb. 12, 2001, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.

She was born Jan. 24, 1971, in Memphis, Tenn., to George Bennett Jr. and Janet Lee Easton Sessum. She graduated from Avon (Indiana) High School in 1989 and attended Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 1999.

She was an operations specialist for EFS Services Inc. in Indianapolis for a year. She also worked for Federal Express for five years while attending college. She lived in Morgan County for six years, moving there from Avon and Memphis.

She enjoyed traveling, people, reading and writing.

Miss. Sessum is also survived by her parents of Paragon; a sister, Shanna Dawkins of Memphis; a brother, Shane Sessum of Fort Myers, Fla.; and her grandparents, George Bennett Sr. and Sarah Sessum of Arlington, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert R. Easton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Munford Funeral Home in Millington, Tenn. Burial will be in the New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Arlington, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Neal and Summers Mortuary Inc. of Martinsville, Ind., and Munford Funeral Home in Millington, Tenn., are in charge.

Marjorie Ruth Tondreau Seamann

BROKEN BOW — Marjorie Ruth Tondreau Seamann, 82, of Broken Bow died Feb. 17, 2001, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in the Stop Table Community near Callaway to Charles H. and Ella M. Hall Cox. She attended country schools and graduated from Callaway High School in 1936. After high school, she taught school for three years. On May 30, 1939, she married Lewis Tondreau at Broken Bow. Her husband died Dec. 6, 1974.

On July 14, 1984, she married Felix Seamann at Oconto. The couple lived in Broken Bow.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Arrow Artist and was an Avon dealer. She liked to sew, knit and crochet.

Mrs. Seamann is survived by her husband, Felix; a son, Ed Tondreau of Riverdale; five stepchildren; three grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard; four sisters, Susie, Nellie, Amy and Lela; and four brothers, Ralph, Frank, Jim and Ed.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Todd Philipsen officiating. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Joe Vlasin

MADRID — Joe Vlasin, 78, of Madrid died Feb. 15, 2001, at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

He was born on Oct. 31, 1922, southeast of Madrid to August and Anna Ceasar Vlasin. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Madrid.

On May 17, 1943, he married Charlotte Todd. They lived on the farm until he joined the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to the farm until the family moved into Madrid in 1961. He was a custodian at the school until 1967, when he began work at Goodall’s Manufacturing in Ogallala. He retired after 20 years from Goodall’s. He moved to the nursing home in 1998.

Mr. Vlasin is survived by a daughter, Connie (Garvin) McClenahan of Grant; two sons, Ron (Terry) of Denver and Larry (Carol) of McCook; five sisters, Margaret Stransky of Madrid, Genevieve Johnson of Ogallala, Betty Stubblefield of Aurora, Colo., and Marie Smith and Annabelle Vapenik, both of Wauneta; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999, a sister and four brothers.

A memorial has been established.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Val Bartek officiating. Burial will be in the Madrid Cemetery with military honors by the Perkins County Veterans.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge.

Floyd M. Brooks

OGALLALA - Floyd M. Brooks, 82, of Ogallala died Feb. 17, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

He was born April 23, 1918, in Ogallala to Roland C. and Mary Ethel Skidmore Brooks. He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1936. In 1939, he joined the U.S. Air Force. During World War II he served in India, China and the Solomon Islands.

On Feb. 14, 1943, he married Helen Ann Rector. He was employed for several area car dealerships and had been a police officer.

On Nov. 6, 1959, he married Verle Samuelson. After their marriage, he was employed in Denver by a car dealership. They returned to Ogallala in 1972 and operated the Hoof and Horn before building and operating the Ponderosa Lounge until their retirement.

He was a member of the Ogallala Elks Lodge and was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Brooks is survived by four daughters, Sondra (Douglas) Sharkey of Ogallala, Sharyl (Dennis) Pankonin of Grant, Jan (Terry) Davis of Papillion and Joanne (Howard) Underwood of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two sons, Brad (Sheryl) of Merrill, Iowa, and Brian of Ogallala; and 12 grandchildren, Mark McQueen, Gwen (Jerry) Sanders and Gretta (John) Hubert, all of Omaha, Amy (Jamie) Wright of Rock Springs, Wyo., Kerri Pankonin of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., Lisa (Duane) Horton of Graybill, Wyo., Renae Holland of Ogallala, Kyle, Kory and Kolin Brooks of Merrill, Jesse Brooks of Papillion, and Howard (Tammy) Underwood of Fort Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lori Davis and Lorna Wilson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational, United Church of Christ in Ogallala with the Rev. Phil Ewert officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Gubser Funeral Home in Ogallala.

Gene Davis

OGALLALA - Gene Davis, 80, of Ogallala died Feb. 17, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

He was born April 24, 1920, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Harry and Jenny Shaw Davis.

On Feb. 1, 1914, he married Clara Novak in Hutchinson. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. After his discharge, he operated his own construction company and was a construction supervisor for the Peter Kewit Co. He later was employed by the State of Colorado.

He was involved in the construction of corrections facilities for the Corrections Department and later worked as a health and safety inspector for nursing homes in Colorado until he retired in 1981, when they moved to Ogallala.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife; a son, John (Pat) of Ogallala; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jason Ryan Hendon; four sisters, Gertrude, Dorothy, Kay, and Genieve, his twin sister; and a brother, Don.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Ogallala United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Norris officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery with ,ilitary honors by the Keith County veterans' organizations.

Gubser Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge.
