Daniel B. Henry Jr.

COZAD - Dan Henry Jr. of Cozad died Feb. 28, 2001, at the Cozad Hospital. He was 65.

He was born Jan. 13, 1936, at Stapleton to Daniel and Evelyn Ash Henry. He attended school in Stapleton and California, and graduated from Cozad High School.

On Aug. 8, 1954, he married Norma Clark at Elwood. They lived in Lexington, California and rural Cozad before moving into Cozad.

He was an assistant manager for Howell Lumber Co. for several years before becoming an independent construction contractor. In addition to carpentry, he also raised cattle and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a former president of the Cozad Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the bass fishing club and the Nebraska Chapter of Safari International, the Cozad Elks Lodge, the Lions Club and the JayCees.

Mr. Henry is survived by his wife; four sons, Rick (Wendy) of Eustis, Dan (special friend, Tania) of Lincoln and Chris (Nancy) and Jon (Denise), all of Cozad; two brothers, Dennis "Buzz" (Karen) of Lexington and Jim (Sue) of Arlington, Texas; and 10 grandchildren, Silke, Mindy, Ross, Zachery, Cuyler, Matt, Carly, Gavin, Kara and Cameron.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ on Newell in Cozad with the Rev. Roger Sloan officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

James E. Monnier

James E. Monnier, 42, of North Platte died Feb. 27, 2001.

He was born Nov. 4, 1958, at Omaha to Herman and Rhoda Ellen McGinnis Monnier. He graduated from North Platte High School ijn 1977 and moved to the Beaver Crossing area, where he was a farm and ranch hand. He was later employed as an independent truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.

Mr. Monnier is survived by his father of North Platte; three sisters, Susan (Steven) Wolter of St. Joseph, Mich., Connie (Alfonso) Bernal and Linda Hernandez, all of North Platte; a brother, William (Jennifer) Monnier of North Platte; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1997.

Memorials are suggested to the American Kidney Foundation.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dwane Johnson of Riverside Baptist Church officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

W. Tilden Jones

LEXINGTON - W. Tilden Jones of Lexington died Feb. 26, 2001, at his home. He was 75.

He was born June 7, 1925, at San Antonio to Worthie Tilden Sr. and Annie E. Burk Jones. He grew up and attended school in Texas and New Mexico. He graduated from high school in Mathis, Texas, as valedictorian of his class, and then attended Southwestern Junior College at Keene, Texas, where he graduated as salutatorian. He furthered his education at Trinity University in San Antonio, where he received his bachelor's degree, graduating with honors. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Oct. 22, 1943, to April 26, 1946.

On Aug. 15, 1948, he married Patricia Burnette at San Antonio. They moved several times during their married life, living in several places in Nebraska, including Lexington, Lincoln, Aurora and then back to Lexington. He was a service manager at Central Manufacturing Co. in Aurora. In 1991, they returned to Lexington, where they were in charge of Camp Arrowhead.

He was a lifetime member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

He enjoyed golf, reading, motorcycles, working on motors and engines, and was a good handyman.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Susan (Clark) Nichols of Scottsbluff and Helen Ann Jones of Denver; Ruth Kotten of San Antonio; a son, T.J. (Linda) of Aurora; a sister, Ava Gerrans of Lexington; a brother, Ted Jones of San Antonio; a nephew, Tom Burnette of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Camp Arrowhead Improvement Fund.

The body was cremated.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Camp Arrowhead near Lexington.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge.

Wayne H. Miller

BRADY - Wayne H. Miller, 85, died Feb. 25, 2001, at his home north of Brady.

He was born Nov. 4, 1915, to John H. and Ida Belle Pitts Miller, at the homestead on the north edge of Wildhorse Valley. He was actively involved in the operation of his ranch, located three miles south of the site where his grandparents settled in a sod house in 1895, until his death. He attended church at the Svea Dal Covenant Church.

On Aug. 15, 1942, he married Lois Y. Murray. They were married for 58 years.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judy (Jim) Buss of Minden and Linda Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jeff (Sally) Buss of Minden, Jodi Buss of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jeremy Buss of Colorado Springs; a sister, Mildred (Arnold) Smith of Aurora, Colo.; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Irene Gronewold, Jean Carroll and Martha Kratzenstein; and two brothers, Harlan and Stanley.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Svea Dal Covenant Church north of Brady. Burial will be in the Antelope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Helen Marguerite Peery

PERRIS, Calif.,- Helen Marguerite Peery of Perris, Calif., died Feb. 17, 2001, at the Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Calif. She was 66.

She was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Nebraska and had lived in Perris for 10 years. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and raising animals and was a member of the North Golf Course Club.

Mrs. Peery is survived by her husband, James Emmett Peery III; a son, James Emmett IV of Las Vegas; a sister, Dorothy Blakey of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Albert Simants of Redding, Calif.; two grandchildren; and various other relatives and friends in the West Central Nebraska area.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

The body was cremated.

Services were Feb. 21, 2001, at the United Church of Christ in Sun City, Calif.

Pacific Family Funeral Home of Lake Elisnore, Calif., was in charge.

Gerald 'Pete' Soderquist

LINCOLN - Gerald "Pete" Soderquist, 85, of Lincoln, father of Barbara Jo Burns of North Platte, died Feb. 21, 2001.

He was born Oct. 27, 1915, to Albert and Emma Egerblade Soderquist. He grew up in the Axtell area, and was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Axtell. He graduated from Axtell High School in 1934.

On May 27, 1946, he married Helen Leap May. They farmed for 15 years south of Axtell.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Lincoln and a trustee at Bethany Lutheran Church in Axtell.

Mr. Soderquist is survived by his wife; a daughter, Barbara Jo (Bill) Burns of North Platte; a son, Greg of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Bartholomew "Stu" Burns of Decatur, Ill., Brandon (Jana) Burns of Omaha and Stacey (Matthew) Soderquist of Lincoln; a sister, Zenobia (Wymore) of San Antonio; a brother, Reuben of Minden; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Lincoln or to the Bethany Lutheran Church in Axtell.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Lincoln with the Revs. Lon and Heidi Kvanli officiating. Additional services will be at 4 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Axtell with the Rev. David Evansen officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wadlow Rozanek Colonial Chapel in Lincoln. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Warren James White

RENTON, Wash., - Warren James White, 50, of Renton, Wash., brother of Sam White of North Platte died Feb. 26, 2001, at his home.

He was born March 27, 1940, in Lincoln to Luke and Lucille White. He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1957, and served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years.

While in the Air Force, he was a security police officer and later was a special agent for the Office of Special Investigations. He also served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he moved to Renton where he worked for Boeing Company, and most recently was a security administrator on the F-22 Raptor Project.

He had traveled the world and spent many evenings telling his stories to family and friends.

On May 17, 1964, he married Connie Soennichsen in Great Falls, Mont.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sheri Dawn (Brian) Johnson; two sons, Trevor Luke (Betsey) and Derek Justin; a sister Gwen of Wheaton, Minn.; and a brother, Sam White of North Platte.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Services will be at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Renton. Burial will be in the Tahoma National Cemetery.

Greenwood Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Renton is in charge.

Alvin C. 'Stub' Allington

Alvin C. "Stub" Allington, 94, of North Platte died March 8, 2001, at Premier Estates in North Platte.

He was born March 17, 1906, to John and Margaret Richardson Allington at Callaway. He was raised at Callaway and attended school there.

He married Beula Bender and they had a daughter, Greta.

On Nov. 1, 1961, he married Margaret Foley and she preceded him in death July 1, 1993. He moved to North Platte in 1962, and had lived here since. He was a custodian at Mutual Building and Loan and the First National Bank in North Platte.

Mr. Allington is survived by a daughter, Greta Morford of Laguna Hills, Calif.; two sisters, Cecil Newhouse of Broken Bow and Florence Brown of Beaverton, Ore.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Floyd Geiser of Oakland.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and a brother.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Adams & Swanson Chapel with the Rev. R. L. Piontkowski officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.

Gerald 'Henry' Anthony

SUTHERLAND - Gerald "Henry" Anthony of Sutherland died March 8, 2001, at the Community Care Center in Sutherland. He was 88.

He was born March 27, 1912, in Mullen to Burton amd Lula Anthony. He was a lifelong Sandhills ranch hand, working for various ranchers around Whitman, Hyannis and Mullen. After his wife's death in 1984, he moved to Sutherland to be near his daughter. He moved to the Community Care Center eight years ago.

Mr. Anthony is survived by eight daughters, Lula (Charlie) Benner of Las Vegas, Jeri (Dan) Shearman of Sutherland, Ruby Clark of Hastings, Margie (Albert) Liptrap and Lina Anthony, all of Whitman, Linda (Richard) Hanson and Sandy (Fred) Keffer, all of Brady, and Marvel (Robert) Osterman of Hyannis; a son, Burton (Cassandra) of Hyannis; a brother, Ralph Anthony of Sutherland; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; a son, Clinton Henry; and his parents.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Mullen with the Rev. Delbert King officiating. Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mullen Funeral Home.
