Frank Daniel Zysset
GOTHENBURG - Frank Daniel Zysset, 80, died April 27, 2001, at his home in Farnam.

He was born Oct. 29, 1920, to Christian and Wilhelmina Lemley Zysset in Orafino. He attended Hunt School District 60 through eighth grade. During World War II, he served in the armed forces and was stationed in Europe. It was there, while in Belgium, that he met his future wife. After his discharge from the Army, he sent for her to join him in America.

On Oct. 8, 1947, he married Celine Marie Lefebvre at Lexington. She preceded him in death Aug. 5, 1980. After working as a farm hand, he rented a farm north of Farnam for several years, and later moved into town. He then did custom farm work.

Mr. Zysset was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and won many awards for his services.

Survivors include a son, Daniel (Rachelle) of Brainard; a brother, Jess (Goldie) Zysset of Gothenburg; six grandchildren, Justin, Jenna, Amanda, Ashley, Jared and Andrew, all of Brainard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Minna Zysset, Maggie Titchen, Mary Cromer and Martha, an infant; and three brothers, Paul, John and Carl.

Memorials are suggested to the Farnam VFW Post 8146.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with the Rev. Steve Bales officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with the Farnam VFW Firing Squad 8146 providing military honors.

Derrick L. Dalton
SAUK CENTRE, Minn. - Derrick L. Dalton, 37, of Sauk Centre, Minn., formerly of Hershey, died April 18, 2001, at Sauk Centre in an automobile accident.

He was born July 8, 1963, at Huron, S.D., to Marvin and Jeannine Faulstich Dalton. He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1981.

He enlisted in the South Dakota Army National Guard in 1980 and attended Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, S.D., studying carpentry.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1985 in Korea. He lived in Huron and worked at SoDak Circuits and later at South Dakota Pork Industry. He then worked as an independent carpenter. He later moved to Sioux Falls and worked in maintenance at Sioux Falls Lincoln High School.

He was a member of the Carpenter's and Joiner's Union of Minneapolis, where he was a foreman. He moved to Sauk Centre in 1999.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.

Mr. Dalton is survived by four children, Jarrid Harley and Alyssa Marie Dalton of Hinesville, Ga., Kraig Brown of Long Pine and Harley Dalton of Oregon; his parents, Marvin and Barb Dalton of West Liberty, Iowa, and Jeannine and Jerry Maxwell of Frederick, S.D.; two sisters, Karin (Brent) Ireland of Tifton, Ga., and Jenn (Corey) Herrold of West Liberty, Iowa; two brothers, Bryan (Lili) Dalton of West Liberty and Brian (Teresa) Maxwell of Britton, S.D.; his grandparents, Esther Dalton of Highmore, S.D., Harvey and Dena Faulstich of Miller, S.D., Fred and Erma Maxwell of Wilmot, S.D., and Violet Uhden of Milbank, S.D.; a special friend, Danelle Zenzen of Sauk Centre; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Harley Dalton and Henry Uhden.

Services were April 23, 2001, at the Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt, S.D., and April 24, 2001, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Graveside services were in the Highmore City Cemetery in Highmore, S.D.

Marion Ann Eilers
LEXINGTON - Marion Ann Eilers, 67, of Lexington died April 30, 2001, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

She was born Feb. 18, 1934, at Cozad to Wayne Stuart and Olive Alice Benson Cook. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1952.

On Nov. 2, 1952, she married Richard Eilers at the First Methodist Church at Cozad. He was in the service when they were first married. They lived for a time in Louisiana before returning to Nebraska, where they lived on the Cook farm and then moved north of Gothenburg to the Eilers farm. The couple then purchased a farm near Overton where they raised their family and lived until his death on Oct. 26, 1984.

Mrs. Eilers moved to Lexington following her husband's death. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, where she remained active with the Mission Project and Bible Study until she moved to Kearney.

She kept herself busy with a large garden while on the farm, attending her sons' and grandchildren's, activities, playing bridge and going to their cabin at Johnson Lake, where she enjoyed crappie fishing. She also volunteered to take Meals on Wheels to local shut-ins.

Survivors include three sons, Brian (Anne) of Lexington, Mark (Judy) of Seward and David (Missy) of Overton; a brother, Donald (Alverda) Cook of Gothenburg; and five grandchildren, Carson, Chase and Cody Eilers and Derrick and Rachel Hosick.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Overton Volunteer Fire Department or the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church in Lexington with the Rev. Dan Cosson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

John H. Geise
ENNIS - John H. Geise of Ennis, father of Dave Geise of North Platte, died April 29, 2001, at his home. He was 77.

He was born Aug. 9, 1923, at North Platte to John C. and Emma Wright Geise. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.

On March 9, 1945, he married Joan G. Geise at Nottingham, England. She preceded him in death Dec. 10, 1997.

On Feb. 19, 1999, he married Christina D. Geise in Panama City, Fla. He owned and operated Economy Glass Inc.

He was a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and golfing in Montana and Florida.

Mr. Geise is survived by his wife Christine; a daughter, Chris (Sam) Johnson of Ennis; two sons, Ed (Karen) of Galviston, Texas, and Dave (Georgina) of North Platte; a sister, Eleanor of Oregon; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Madison Valley Hospital, Clinic and Ambulance Service.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the K & L Mortuary Chapel in Ennis with the Rev. Ran Humphreys officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Valley Cemetery with military honors.

Amy B. James
Amy B. James of North Platte died April 28, 2001, in her home. She was 109.

She was born Sept. 11, 1891, on a farm in Smith County, Kan., to Ferdinand and Susan Kunze.

On April 5, 1910, she married Elmer E. James. They moved to North Platte where he worked on the Union Pacific Railroad. Her husband preceded her in death in 1965.

Mrs. James is survived by two daughters, Velma Snook of Lincoln and Hazel Jaehnke of Mount Prospect, Ill.; two sons, Jim (Gwen) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Bill (Phyllis) of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren, Bob Mack, Bob, Brett, Thomas, Dick and John James, Judy Osborne, Pam Wright, Jessica "Lynn" Cox, Sondra Fuss, Joli Johns, Pam Ohlendt and Jani Kaipust; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert "Bob" and Harold James.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the donor's choice.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Lang officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

Opal A. Steinbeck
GRAND ISLAND - Opal A. Steinbeck, 79, of Grand Island, mother of Lynn Steinbeck of North Platte, died May 1, 2001, at the Lakeview Nursing/Rehabilitation Center in Grand Island.

She was born Feb. 6, 1922, to William C. and Emma P. Hamann Horst at Doniphan. She received her education at the District 19 School.

On July 25, 1943, she married Hollis H. Steinbeck at Grand Island. They made their home on a farm in rural Hall County near Doniphan. She was a homemaker and a farmer's third hand, helping her husband with the farming operation.

She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and the East Doniphan Extension Club. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and baking chocolate chip cookies. She and her husband were active in ballroom dancing and enjoyed camping. They were also members of the Platt Deutsche, the Good Sam Club and the Eagles.

Mrs. Steinbeck is survived by her husband; three sons, David (Eileen) of Doniphan, Lynn (Kay) of North Platte and Kenneth (Elaine) of Grand Island; seven grandchildren, Mark (Davina) of Denver, Amy and Doug Steinbeck, both of Lincoln, Jeff Steinbeck of Hershey, Kristin Steinbeck of Kearney, Paul Steinbeck of Chicago and Laura Steinbeck of Grand Island; three sisters, Betty Vanosdall and Ellen Goerl, both of Grand Island and Margie Thomssen of Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Imogene Horst of Grand Island; a brother, William H. Horst of Grand Island; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Merle E. Horst.

Memorials are suggested to the Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church in Grand Island with the Rev. Jack Eske officiating. Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Eufemio 'Memo' Grado
LEXINGTON - Eufemio "Memo" Grado, 41, of Lexington died May 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born March 20, 1960, at Durango, Mexico, to Eusebio and Antonia Astorga Grado.

He married Raquel Pargas and they had three daughters. They moved to Lexington in 1995.

Mr. Grado enjoyed spending time with his family, especially attending and helping with his daughters' activities. He also enjoyed playing soccer.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nabil, Nain and Nydia, all at home; his parents of Mexico; and brothers, sisters and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Don Buhrman officiating. The body will be cremated.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge.

Helen Louise Jones
Helen Louise Jones, 80, of North Platte died May 1, 2001, at Centennial Park Retirement Village.

She was born May 19, 1920, at Arnold to John H. and Nettie L. Watkins Maxson.

On Sept. 8, 1937, she married John W. Jones at McCook. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1981.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing ceramics and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons, James L. (Patricia), Gene W. (Karen) and Jeffrey K. (Lucy), all of North Platte, and Randall D. and Micheal L. (Marcia), both of Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Jon G. in 1964; her parents; three brothers; a grandson, Scott Jones; and a great-granddaughter, Heather Holland.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Jones of the Calvary Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
