Maribeth Turcotte

EPPING - Maribeth Turcotte, 49, of East Delaney Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at her home.

She was born July 22, 1953, in Methuen, Mass., the daughter of the late Donald and Claire (McNamee) Neddy. She was raised in Seabrook and had resided in Haverhill, Mass., moving to Epping in 2001.

She was a 1971 graduate of Winnacunnet High School and attended Plymouth State College. She received her associate’s degree in mental health at Northern Essex Community College.

Mrs. Turcotte was a mental health counselor at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass., and had formerly been employed at Lowell General Hospital and as an administrative assistant at Bruker Instruments in Woburn, Mass.

She was an avid skier and enjoyed spending time at the beach.

She is survived by her husband of four years, Raymond F. Turcotte of Epping; one daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Jeffrey Kersey of Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, Mass.; one granddaughter; two stepsons, Shawn M. Turcotte and Joseph J. Turcotte, both of North Andover, Mass.; two brothers, Christopher Neddy of Seabrook and Mark Neddy of Canfield, Ohio; one sister, Lisa Aylward of Groveland, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Route 27, Epping, with the Rev. Michael Taylor as the celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association of N.H., 9 Cedarwood Drive, Unit 12, Bedford, NH 03110, for small cell lung cancer research.

Gustaf Anderson

HAMPTON - Gustaf "Gus" Anderson, 96, of 773 Ocean Blvd., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Seacoast Health Center.

He was born March 18, 1906, in Cambridge, Mass., the son of the late Alfred and Ellen (Larson) Anderson. He was raised in Arlington, Mass., resided several years in Lexington, Newton Center, and Brookline, Mass., moving to Hampton in the late 1960s.

He attended Arlington schools was a graduate of Fisher Business School.

Mr. Anderson was an accountant, first for the former Boston Post newspaper and then for Tidewater Oil, Getty Oil and Texaco. He retired more than 40 years ago continuing on as a consultant assisting various oil companies with real estate purchases.

He was a 50 year Mason and a member of St. James Lodge No. 102 F. & A. M. of Hampton.

During his retirement, he traveled with his wife extensively through all 50 states. He enjoyed photography, gardening, playing bridge, and a daily game of cards with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Mildred (Farrell) Anderson; one daughter, Carolyn Martin of Windsor, Conn.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethel Georgeopoulas of Watertown, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rockingham VNA & Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Marilyn E. Bristol

EXETER - Marilyn E. Bristol, 71, of Beech Hill Road, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.

She was born July 1, 1931, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of the late Henry and Erma Bristol.

Mrs. Bristol was formerly a loan processor for General Motors in Rhode Island.

She is survived by several friends including Paula Palumbo of Riverside, R.I.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in United Methodist Church, Exeter.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping.

Julie C. Duffy

NEWMARKET - Julie C. Duffy, 52, of Creighton Street, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in Beth Israel Hospital, Boston.

She was born Nov. 12, 1950, in Rochester, the daughter of Thomas and Joanne (Burke) Stevens of Florida. She was raised in Lynn, Mass., and lived most of her life in Somersworth before moving to Newmarket three years ago.

Mrs. Duffy was employed by Foss Manufacturing, Hampton, for three years.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three children, Stephen Duffy and Lisa Gallant, both of Newmarket, and Daniel Abel of Rochester; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Gary Stevens of Zephyrhills, Fla., Greg Stevens of Lebanon, Maine, and Thomas Stevens of Rochester; two sisters, Debby Kelly of Somersworth and Sharon Staples of Cambridge, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.

Private graveside services will be held in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover, at the convenience of the family.

William Stewart Gardner

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - William Stewart Gardner, 75, of 10 Hunter Drive, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in Anna Jaques Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Lansing, Mich., the son of the late William S. Gardner and Eva (Cann) Gardner Targett and had resided in Peabody, Mass., before moving to Newburyport 33 years ago.

He was a graduate of the Beverly School of the Deaf and a 1948 graduate of Beverly High School.

Mr. Gardner was a pressman for 55 years and was employed by Graphic Arts Finishers of Somerville, Mass., M&M Printing of Danvers, Mass., and EMCO Printing of Everett, Mass.

He was a former member of the Revere Deaf Club. He enjoyed golf, bowling, softball and dancing. He coached a girl’s softball beam in Revere and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Joan H. (Parlee) Gardner; one daughter and her husband, Joyce and Bruce Hurd of West Newbury, Mass.; one son and his wife, Wayne and Patricia Gardner of Stratham; two grandchildren; one brother, Bruce D. Gardner of Springhill, Fla.; one sister, Fay Gardner of Danvers, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Raymond Targett.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Simplicity Burial & Cremation Services, 287 High St., Newburyport.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Fiske Memorial Chapel, Belleville Church, 300 High St., Newburyport, Mass. Spring burial will be in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport.

Susan P. Knight

LIBERTY, Maine - Susan Patricia Knight, 50, formerly of Epping, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2003, after a sudden illness.

She was born, May 20, 1952, in Epping, the daughter of William and Dolores Knight of Montville, Maine.

She was a graduate of Epping High School, Concord School of Nursing and received her bachelor of science degree from the University of New Hampshire, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

She was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving as a lieutenant.

Ms. Knight was an avid reader, skier, amateur Egyptologist and enjoyed creative writing.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi parish in Belfast, Maine.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Megan McLeod of Chicago; one son, James McLeod of Danville, Pa.; three sisters, Diane Whitten of Northport, Maine, Arlene Tierney of Pepperell, Mass., and Maryanne Ekberg of Westford, Mass.; three brothers, William Knight of Hallendale, Fla., James Knight of Exeter and Timothy Knight of Sandown; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by one brother, Andrew Knight.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Judith A. Oljey

KINGSTON - Judith Ann Oljey died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Manchester, following a year-long illness.

She was born in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Edward J. and Rose Marie (Hines) Oljey. She came to Kingston in August of 2002.

She was a graduate of Saugus High School and received her nursing degree from Salem Hospital School of Nursing. She received her bachelor of science summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco in 1979. She was conferred the degree of juris doctor cum laude in May of 1983, being honored by Law Review and was admitted to the state Bar of California in December 1983.

She was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif., attaining the rank of Lieutenant JG. Following her discharge she was an intensive and cardiac care nurse at Presbyterian Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. With concerns regarding the health-care situation and medical-legal implications concerning paptient rights, she made the decision to enroll in law school.

Ms. Oljey practice law in Los Angeles working in the Appellate Court as a civil and criminal defense attorney.

She is survived by three brothers and their wives, Edward and Anita Oljey of Virginia, Richard and Judith E. Oljey of Alabama, and John and Judith A. Oljey of Kingston, with whom she made her home; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Church, Saugus, Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rockingham County VNA & Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Raymond H. Townsend

ORLANDO, Fla., - Raymond H. Townsend, 76, formerly of Brentwood, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, after a lengthy illness.

He resided in Brentwood for many years, retiring to South Carolina and 1991 and to Florida in 2000.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Townsend was a self-employed plumber and electrician for 20 years, working as maintenance supervisor for the town of Exeter from 1969 until 1981 and as an electrician for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., Portsmouth, from 1981 until 1991.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annie Townsend; two daughters, Linda and Deborah; three sons, Glenn, Ronald and Dean; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Military burial will be held Wednesday in the National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

Memorial services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in Epping Bible Baptist Church, 243 Pleasant St., Epping.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epping Bible Baptist Church Building Fund.

Irene R. Burge

HAMPTON - Irene R. Burge, 86, of 284 High St., died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Partridge House in Hampton.

She was born May 23, 1916, in Boston, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Perrulla) Mangiantie. She was raised in Revere, Mass., and resided in Mountain Ranch, Calif., retiring to Hampton 30 years ago.

Mrs. Burge was an assembler for General Electric. While in California, she and her late husband raised turkeys on their ranch.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton, and was an active volunteer with the Outreach Program.

The widow of Robert C. Burge, her husband of 53 years who died in 2002, she is survived by one brother, Marto Mangiante of Revere, Mass.; three sisters, Florence DeLoury and Louise M. Zacconi, both of Revere, and Clara Sarno of Boston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Pasquale J. DiFiore

SEABROOK - Pasquale J. "Pat" DiFiore, 79, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at the Hannah Duston Nursing Home, Haverhill, Mass., after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothea (Amoroso) DiFiore; one daughter and her husband, Paula and Paul Seaman of Saugus, Mass.; one son and his wife, Fred and Mary DiFiore of Somerville, Mass.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Donati of Somerville and Phyllis Scuzzarella of Saugus; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Pauline DiFiore; and one brother, Fred DiFiore Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Summer St., Saugus. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Mass.

Arrangements are by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn, Mass.
