James H. Greer

NORWOOD Mass. – James H. Greer, 72, of 81 Pellana Road, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at his home.

He was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Boston on the son of the late James H. and Gertrude C. (Helfer) Greer. He was raised in the West Roxbury section of Boston and had resided in Norwood since the late 1950’s coming from Dedham.

He was a 1948 graduate of English High School and was a radioman in the US Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict serving in the North Atlantic aboard the Cutter Bibb.

Mr. Greer was a lineman for Boston Edison in Waltham, retiring in 1991 after 40 years of service. He was a member of IBEW Local 369.

A man of the sea, since his youth he has always had a boat and grew up plying the waters of Quincy Bay. He was a member and past commodore of the South Shore Yacht Club and a member of the Commodore’s Club of America. Another passion was Bagpipes and for many years he played with the Kevin Barry Pipe Band of Malden, marching in parades throughout the region for many years. For many years he enjoyed the Scottish Highland Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and Loon Mountain in New Hampshire.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorraine D. (Vasconcellus) Greer of Norwood; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diane and John Stump of Hampton and Christine Greer of Norwood; three sons and their wives, James H. and Denise Greer of Rockland, Mass., Peter and Anne Greer Stoughton, Mass., and Robert and Diane Greer of Attleboro, Mass.; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Benson of Mashpee, Mass., Jeannette Hollingsworth of Los Osos, Calif., and Sally Ann Greer of Alexandria, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Greer.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebratedFriday at 9 a.m. in Saint Catherine of Sienna Church, Norwood. on Friday at 9 A.M. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice division of VNA Care Network, Inc., 5 Federal Street, Danvers, MA 01923.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory of Hampton.

Elizabeth A. Moulton

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Elizabeth A. Moulton, 80, formerly of Hampton, died January 24, 2003, at Palm Shores Retirement Center.

She was born in Webster, Mass., had resided in the Panama Canal Zone for 15 years, and in St. Petersburg since 1948 coming from Southbridge, Mass.

Mrs. Moulton was an Episcopalian and was a member of the Polish American Society; the National Association of Federal Employees.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph Moulton; two brothers, her twin brother, Edward Voloka of Holland, Mass., and Edmond Voloka of Lady Lake, Fla.; one sister, Frances Cieri of Southbridge, Mass.; and one niece.

Arrangements were by the Memorial Park Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.

Michael J. Paradise

NEWMARKET - Michael J. Paradise, 79, of Exeter Street, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Camden, N.J., the son of Michele and Maria (Jordano) Paradiso and had resided in Newmarket for 59 years.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and at Iwo Jima.

Mr. Paradise was a welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard retiring after 32 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Mary Church, Newmarket; a member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post No. 67 of Newmarket and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris (Beauchesne) Paradise of Newmarket; one son and his wife, Dennis and Linda Paradise of Deerfield; two daughters, Lorraine Roulston of Plano, Tex., and Sandra Main of East Rochester; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Joseph Paradise, Albert Paradise and Raymond Paradise, all of New Jersey; two sisters, Janet Sardero and Mary Gallicu, both of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Spring burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Memorial donations may be made to the Newmarket Fire Rescue, P.O. Box 201, Newmarket, NH 03857.

Dr. John Tuthill

KENSINGTON - Dr. John Wily Garrett Tuthill, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Exeter Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Evanston, Ill., the son of Richard S. and Caroline (Garrett) Tuthill. He was raised in Evanston.

He was a 1940 graduate of Princeton University with a degree in chemistry and was a 1943 graduate of Harvard Medical School.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as a lieutenant assigned to the 22nd Marine Division. He saw combat in the Pacific at Okinawa and after V-J Day he served with the military in China.

He did medical residencies at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and at Boston City Hospital. In 1950 he spent six months working at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, England, before returning to Boston Children’s Hospital. For many years he returned to Harvard Medical School to teach courses in pediatrics.

Dr. Tuthill came to Exeter in 1954 to join the newly- formed Exeter Clinic, where he was the first full time pediatrician. In 1970 he served as head physician at a hospital in Ganado, Ariz., with Project HOPE, helping train Navaho men and women to work as health care providers. After retiring from practice at the Exeter Clinic in 1975, he became the medical director at Phillips Exeter Academy where he had been associate medical director since 1954. He retired in 1986.

He enjoyed choral singing beginning with high school productions of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas. A favorite event was the Bach Festival in Bethlehem, Pa. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed boat racing.

He was a member of the Kensington School Board and the Rockingham Choral Society. He was involved with the Greater Piscataqua Charitable Foundation; Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays; Spaulding Youth Center and the Rockingham Land Trust.

He is survived by his wife, Nora (Machado) Tuthill of Kensington; four sons, John G. Tuthill of Acworth, Andrew M. Tuthill of Etna, Alan B. Tuthill of Kensington and William D. Tuthill of Albany, N.Y.; and four grandsons.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Christ Church Episcopal, 43 Pine St., Exeter. Burial will be private.

Victor L. Fargh

BRENTWOOD - Victor L. Fargh, 86, of Ladd Road, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Seacoast Healthcare, Hampton.

He was born May 29, 1916, in New London, Conn., the son of the late Svante and Anna (Daae) Fargh. He resided in Beverly, Mass., for 15 years, in Hamilton Mass., for 20 years, coming to Brentwood in 1977. Mr. Fargh was a chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy and served for more than 20 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Hamilton and the Masonic Lodge in Beverly.

He enjoyed reading.

The widower of Edith (Corneliusen) Fargh, he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Donaldson of Brentwood; three grandsons; and one sister, Doris Kasewurm of Michigan.

There are no calling hours.

Private services will be held in the spring.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Eunice I. Chapman

EPPING - Eunice I. Chapman, 69, of High Street, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.

She was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Exeter, the daughter of the late Burton and Sarah (Page) Sanborn. She was raised in Brentwood and had resided in Epping for 40 years.

She attended Robinson Female Seminary, Exeter.

Mrs. Chapman was employed by Harvard Industries, Newfields, retiring after 25 years of service.

She enjoyed tending to her family, sewing, cooking and bingo.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald E. Chapman of Epping; two daughters, Deborah Chapman and her companion Garry Snook and Barbara Chapman, all of Epping; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping. A private family service will follow.

Altina S. Eaton

BRENTWOOD - Altina S. Eaton, 77, of 117 North Road, formerly of Seabrook, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Seabrook the daughter of the late Alton D. and Eliza B. (Eaton) Eaton Sr., and had resided in Brentwood for seven years.

Mrs. Eaton was employed by the T&C Shelllfish Co. in Seabrook and had previously worked for the Bailey Corp. of Seabrook.

She was a former member of the Raymond E. Walton American Legion Post 70 Women’s Auxiliary of Seabrook and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by three brothers, Arthur H. Eaton of Seabrook, Samuel Eaton of Barnstead, and Franklin D. Eaton of Vermont; two sisters, Necia P. Thurlow of Seabrook and Dora L. Lounsbury of Merrimac, Mass.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two children, Louis Eaton Jr. and Virginia Lee Eaton; two brothers, Raymond Eaton and Alton D. Eaton Jr.; and one sister, Helen D. Knowles.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rockingham County Nursing Home Resident’s Fund, 117 North Road, Brentwood, NH 03833.

Kenneth N. Jackson

EPPING - Kenneth N. Jackson, 56, of Pike Street, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Exeter, the son of the late John and Ethel (Hill) Jackson and was a lifelong resident of Epping.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Jackson owned KJ&S Trucking in Epping for more than 20 years.

He was a former deputy police chief in Epping and was a former volunteer fireman.

He enjoyed boating.

He is survived by one daughter, Marie Jackson-Bourdon of Deerfield; one son, Ronald Jackson of Epping; his longtime companion, Sheryl Gavin of Epping; one stepdaughter, Jacqulyn Gavin of Epping; one stepson, Joshua Gavin of Epping; two grandchildren; two brothers, Teddy Jackson of Northwood and John Jackson of Florida; three sisters, Carol Currier of Deerfield, Doris Underwood of Exeter and Ruth Coffin of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 8 Pleasant St., Epping.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Epping Community Church, Pleasant St., Epping. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Epping.

Mickey King

MARION, Mass. - Mickey King, 67, of 7 Bornehurst Road, formerly of Seabrook, died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Tobey Hospital, Wareham, Mass.

She was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late Edward J. and Dorothy (Hingston) Dorgan. She had resided in Marion for 23 years coming from Seabrook.

Mrs. King was a retired housekeeper for a private estate in Marion.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo, and crocheting. Disney World and Mickey Mouse were her favorite attractions.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Stanley R. King Jr.; one son and his wife, Bradford and Penny Jett of Hampton; three daughters, Lindalee Horgan of Boston, twins, Michele E. Nault and her companion Paul Shaw of Kensington and Maureen E. Savaria and her husband Charles of Wareham, Mass.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Maureen Onesti of Philadelphia; three brothers, Frank, Timothy and Robert Dorgan, all of Peabody, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Donna Chase and Diane Elwell, both of Seabrook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by one grandson, BJ Jett who died in 2002.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Cremation will be in Phoenix Crematory, Hampton. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook.
