Earline M. Pratte

NEWMARKET - Earline M. Pratte, 47, of Dame Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at her home.

She was born Sept. 7, 1955, in Caribou, Maine, the daughter of Rachel (Berube) Robidoux of Rochester, and the late Earl Robidoux.

Mrs. Pratte was employed at the Newmarket Getty for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Mary Church, Newmarket.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, crafts, cake decorating and crocheting.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, Dennis S. Pratte of Newmarket; one son, Chris Smas of Newmarket; one daughter and her husband, Wendy and Eric Robinson of Newmarket; two grandchildren; one brother, Douglas Robidoux of Rochester; four sisters, Patricia Peterson of Cedar Hill, Tenn., Viola Duffy of Lee, Debbie Robidoux of Farmington, Maine, and Tammy Jeralds of Pittsburgh; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Henry "Shorty" Smas, who died in 1979, and one brother, Robert Robidoux.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Newmarket. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.

Jean G. Robitille

NEWMARKET - Jean G. Robitille, 71, formerly of 9 Granite St., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Riverside Rest Home, Dover, where she had resided for two years.

She was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Woodstock, Vt., the daughter of George E. and Gladys E. (Shackford) Flower. She lived in Dover, Rochester and Connecticut before moving to Newmarket in 1989.

Mrs. Robitille was a computer operator for Kidder-Peabody & Co. at the New York Stock Exchange from 1953 until 1960.

She was a past president and 43-year member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 67 in Newmarket.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Jean Davidson of Southington, Conn., and Cynthia A. Daskey of Dover; two grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph G. Smith of Kennebunkport, Maine, and Lawrence Libby of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Elizabeth Hopson of Wallingford, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude E. Silver and Doris Starkweather.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket.

American Legion Auxiliary services will be held at 6:45 p.m. and funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. with the Rev. David Wuori officiating.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Amesbury, Mass.

Henry A. St. Germain

HAMPTON - Henry Albert St. Germain, 80, died Friday, May 2, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.

He was born July 23, 1922, in Amesbury, Mass., the son of the late Roch and Alice (Proulx) St. Germain and had resided in Hampton since 1953.

He was a 1941 graduate of Amesbury High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. St. Germain owned St. Germain’s Jewelry Store in Hampton from 1955 until his retirement in 1984.

He was a charter member of the Hampton Rotary Club and a member of the former Hampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of Abenaqui, Exeter and Portsmouth country clubs. He enjoyed the outdoors including mountain climbing and skiing.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma P. (Carter) St. Germain of Hampton; four children, Henry A. St. Germain Jr. of Lincoln, Neb., Janice Ann St. Germain of Manchester, Michael St. Germain of Brentwood and Vicki Jean St. Germain of Chantilly, Va.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

At Mr. St. Germain‘s request there will be no funeral services. The family will have a gathering of remembrance at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4699 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, No. Canton, OH 44720.

Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Beverly M. Thomas

EXETER - Beverly M. Thomas, 69, of 205 Sherwood Forest, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.

She was born May 12, 1933, in Boston, the daughter of the late William and Marion (McKinnon) Sawbridge. She was raised in Medford, Mass., and had resided in Brockton, Mass., and Hampton before moving to Exeter in 1999.

She was educated in Medford Schools.

Mrs. Thomas was a nurse’s aid for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Thomas of Exeter; six sons and their wives, Kenneth P. and Judith Thomas of Clementon, N.J., Clifford A. and Laura Thomas of Auburn, Richard W. Thomas of Hampton, David A. Thomas of Fort Myers, Fla., Raymond E. and Kimberly Thomas of Exeter, and Charles W. and Katherine Thomas of Bellingham, Mass.; two daughters, Debra J. Stewart and her husband Matthew of Felton, Pa., and Lisa M. Thomas of Clementon; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charolette, Barbara and Marjorie; and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.

Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Irma G. Bean

EAST KINGSTON - Irma G. Bean, 102, of Pow Wow River Road, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.

She was born June 25, 1900, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of the late George and Lillian (Russell) Granton. She had resided in Hampstead and Stratham before moving to East Kingston 50 years ago. She wintered in Florida.

She was a 1919 graduate of Haverhill High School.

Mrs. Bean attended East Kingston Community United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of Liberty Grange of Hampstead.

She enjoyed crocheting.

The widow of Norris Bean, who died in 1956, she is survived by one daughter, Eleanor Moreau of Hampstead; two sons, Edwin A. Bean of Rochester and Marshall G. Bean of East Kingston; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew.

There are no calling hours.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 7, at 3 p.m. in East Kingston Community United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to East Kingston Community United Methodist Church, 34 Depot Road, East Kingston, NH 03827.

Walter A. Borkowski

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Walter Anthony Borkowski, 75, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 5, 1928, in Old Town, Maine, the son of Antoni and Jenny (Tyskiewicz) Borkowski.

He attended local schools, Maine Maritime Academy and received his bachelor of science degree and his master’s degree in education at the University of Maine.

Mr. Borkowski was hired by Traip Academy in Kittery, in 1951, where he taught and coached basketball, taking several teams to the state finals, and was the assistant football coach. In 1966 he was program director for WWNH in Rochester until 1967 when he returned to teaching and coaching at Exeter AREA High School. He was assistant principal from 1976 until 1978 when he was appointed principal, a position held until he retired in 1994 after 42 years in education.

He was director of the N.H. Academic Decathlon program, mentored school exchanges with Okinawa, Japan; Plaermal, France; High Wikham, England, and in 1989 negotiated the selection of Exeter as one of the 25 schools chosen for the U.S.S.R.-U.S.A. School Exchange Program. He traveled to the U.S.S.R. as a member of the National Advance Team to set up the program. In following years, he traveled to Yalta School No. 12 delivering humanitarian aid to the school and city, including 2,000 pairs of shoes and medical supplies.

White in Kittery he was a Kittery Point Congregational Church Trustee; a member of the Kittery Point Boy Scouts Committee; and trustee/secretary of the Rice Public Library Board.

He was a member of the First Parish Federated Church, an avid sports enthusiast and fisherman, and he and his wife also enjoyed many foreign trips during retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce (Pray) Borkowski; two sons, Timothy and his wife Gail of York, and Scott of Boston; one daughter and her husband, Kristen and Gary Long of Kittery; four grandchildren; one sister, Stella B. Patten of Cape Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Stanley.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 3, at 10 am in First Parish Federated Church, South Berwick, followed by a reception in the vestry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Maine Division, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.

Arrangements are by the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, South Berwick.

Ina T. Barnaby

HAMPTON - Ina T. Barnaby, 83, of 16 Thorwald Ave., died Thursday, April 24, 2003, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Revere, Mass., the daughter of the late Fielding and Emily (Rowe) Taylor. She was raised in Everett, Mass., and had resided in Barrington in the early 1930s moving to Hampton in the late 1930s.

She was a graduate of Dover High School.

Mrs. Barnaby worked in the food service department at Winnacunnet High School for 29 years, retiring in 1991.

She attended First Congregational Church and was a member of the Ladies Guild of the church.

The widow of Roland T. Barnaby, her husband of 61 years who died in 2001, she is survived by one son and his wife, Roland T. and Linda Barnaby of Portsmouth; two daughters, Lynda A. Berry of Newport, N.C., and Charlotte "Peppa" Ring and her husband Jay of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Swain of Barrington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters and brothers.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. in First Congregational Church, Winnacunnet Road, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Teen Mania Ministry, Attn.: Molly Barnaby, identification No. 2219324 (written on memo line), c/o Global Expeditions, P.O. Box 2000, Garden Valley, TX 75771. Molly will be working in Oradea, Romania, this summer sharing the gospel and God’s love with orphans.

Angela Collins

RYE BEACH - Angela "Ann" (Delduca) Collins, 88, died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Portsmouth.

She was born in Lawrence, Mass., and was raised in Methuen, Mass.

She was educated in Methuen schools and was a graduate of MacIntosh School of Business.

Mrs. Collins was a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, Mass.

She was treasurer of the Jenness Beach Precinct for many years and was a founding member of the Rye Over 55 Club. She enjoyed dancing with the Maine Wood Cloggers, JoBridges and the Kittery Line Dancers.

She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach.

The widow of James A. Collins Sr., a retired Lawrence police officer, she is survived by two sons and their wives, John A. and Ann Collins of North Andover, Mass., and James A. Jr. and Jolyne Collins of Menlo Park, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Delduca of Salem; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Bertha Harnish, Elizabeth Trovato and Irene V. Pandelina; and two brothers, Samuel Delduca and Ernest Delduca.

A memorial Mass was celebrated Monday in St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. At her request her body was donated to Dartmouth Medical School and will be interred in Hanover with her late husband.
