Dwight L. Killam Jr.

KINGSTON - Private services and burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, for Dwight L. Killam Jr., will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Killam, 73, of 34 North Road, died April 19, 2003.

Memorial donations may be made to the Exeter Lion’s Club, P.O. Box 254, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Stephen P. Morin

WARNER - Stephen P. Morin, 53, of Kearsarge Mountain Road, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at the CRVNA Hospice House of a brain tumor.

He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he was editor of the school’s student daily newspaper. He earned his master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.

Mr. Morin was a former reporter for the Wall Street Journal and the Providence Journal, and Connecticut correspondent for the New York Times. He owned Mortal Ink, a corporate writing and public relations firm based in Providence, R.I., for 20 years and with his wife had operated Runaway Farm LLC in Warner since 1996.

He taught business writing at Brown University and wrote annual reports, executive speeches, corporate brochures, opeds and editorial material for businesses, as well as newsletters, press releases and video scripts. He wrote two book proposals and completed a draft of a third book.

Mr. Morin won many journalism awards, including the Heywood Broun Award for the best newspaper series in the country in 1982. He received an Award Excellence in 1985 from Communications Arts magazine for writing one of the nation’s best annual reports.

He is survived by his wife, Claire Morin of Warner; three sons, Lt. S. Patrick Morin Jr. of Quantico, Va., and Bret T. Morin and Wyatt P. Morin, both of Warner; one daughter, Brooke E. Morin; his parents, David and Jacqueline Morin of Concord; his grandmother, Lena B. Morin of Boscawen; one brother, Jeffrey Morin of Concord; one sister, Laura Chandronnait of Bow; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Hopkinton.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 354 Main St., Hopkinton, NH 03229.

Wilbur H. Onderdonk

ROCHESTER - Wilbur H. Onderdonk, 83, of 4 Cherokee Way, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at his home following a period of failing health.

He was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Fredricksburg, Va., the son of the late Kenneth P. and May E. (Sullivan) Onderdonk. He had resided on Tuttle Lane in Greenland from 1965 until 1994.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II serving in Guadalcanal, the Northern Solomon Islands, the Central Pacific and Bismark Archipelago and was the recipient of many awards and decorations. His post war assignments included Germany, Japan and stateside.

Mr. Onderdonk retired as the maintenance superintendent of the 509th bomb wing propulsion branch in 1964.

He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a Civil War buff and loved animals.

He is survived by his wife of four years, Dixie (Cunningham) Onderdonk of Rochester; one daughter and her husband, Stephanie and Bob Lerch of Mountain Top, Pa.; one granddaughter; and five stepchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Gloria J. Onderdonk, who died in 1998; and one sister, Ann Truslow.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Heritage Baptist Church, Dover, with Pastor Steve Ridge officiating. Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church Missionaries, 186 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH 03820

Arrangements were by the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, Rochester.

Anthony F. DeFillipo

GREENLAND - Anthony F. "Tony" DeFillipo, 80, of 66 Great Bay Drive West, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Exeter, of a brain tumor.

He was born Dec. 25, 1922, in South Plainfield, N.J., the son of the late Francis and Mary (Cereghini) DeFillipo.

He was educated in New Brunswick, N.J., schools.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in England, where he flew literature drops, and in Japan during the Korean Conflict, flying medic missions from Seoul, Korea, returning the wounded to hospitals.

Mr. DeFillipo was employed with Eastern Airlines, stationed initially in Newark, N.J., and was later based at Logan Airport, Boston, retiring after 30 years of service.

He was an active member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, Portsmouth, for 20 years.

He was an avid gardener and had an extensive vegetable garden, donating some of his crops to Operation Blessing and New Generations in Portsmouth and donating gift baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas to needy families throughout the Seacoast.

He excelled in woodworking and regularly made furniture, and was a chess enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Viola J. (Felix) DeFillipo of Greenland; three daughters, Diane Norton of Exeter, Maryann Brickett of Hampton and Joanne Stevens and her husband, Douglas, of Greenland; two sons and their wives, Raymond and SunHee DeFillipo of Pensacola, Fla., and Robert and Susan DeFillipo of Exeter; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline George of New Jersey and Lucille Markle of North Carolina.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Suzanne Boyle, who died in 1986; and two sisters, Beatrice Venesco and Eleanor Yusko.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bethel Assembly God Church, 200 Chase Drive, Portsmouth. A period of visitation will be held in the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Greenland.

Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Timothy D. Eichler

EXETER - Timothy Dale Eichler, 48, of Alumni Drive, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Exeter Healthcare following a lengthy illness with Lou Gherig’s disease.

He was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Dale A. and Doris J. (Eslinger) Eichler and had resided in Raymond for many years before coming to Exeter two years ago.

He was a 1973 graduate of Troy High School, where he was the drum major in his junior and senior years. He was in several high school plays and participated in Sing Out Troy for three years. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston for one year and played in the Private Lightning Band in Boston.

Mr. Eichler was the manager at Technical Audio Lighting for New England Audio Technicians.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Benjamin D. Eichler of Livermore, Calif.; two sisters, Vicki Eichler of Raymond and Linda Eichler of Arlington, Mass.; one brother, Mark Eichler of Piqua, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALS Association, Western Ohio Chapter, 1810 McKenzie Drive, No. 120, Columbus, OH 43220 or to Exeter Healthcare, 4 Alumni Drive, Exeter, NH 03833.

Edith M. Ellis

RAYMOND - Edith M. Ellis, 54, of Chester Road, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at her home after a sudden illness.

She was born March 14, 1949, in Ipswich, Mass., the daughter of the late George H. and Dorothy A. (Burgess) Murrey. She was raised in Georgetown, Mass., and had resided in Haverhill, Mass., and Kingston, before moving to Raymond 12 years ago.

She was educated in Georgetown schools.

Mrs. Ellis was a CNA at the Wellstone House in Raymond and the Foxden Inn in Sandown. She had previously been employed at Dunkin Donuts in Epping.

She attended the First Baptist Church, Georgetown.

She enjoyed going on the computer on Pogo.com, animals and bowling at Striker’s East in Raymond.

She is survived by one daughter, Tawnya L. Pitman of Rochester; two sons, Gregory S. Ellis and James T. Ellis, both of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren; one brother, John R. Murrey of Atkinson; four sisters, Ellen Marcus of Haverhill, Jeannette Laing of Georgetown, Donna Good of Haverhill and Dorothy Wright of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Mary Morse.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, On the Common, Raymond. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Walter L. Glitzenstein

HAMPTON - Walter L. Glitzenstein, 69, of 122 Hampton Meadows and Nantucket, Mass., died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Northeast Rehabilitation Center, Salem.

He was born June 21, 1933, in Chicago, the son of the late Louis and Hertha (Wawretschek) Glitzenstein. He had resided in Glastonbury, Conn., before coming to Hampton in 2001.

He was a graduate of Austin High School, Chicago, received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1955 from the University of Illinois, and his master of science degree in mechanical engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y.

Mr. Glitzenstein was a project engineer for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Group in Glastonbury for 38 years, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Newington.

He enjoyed skiing and was a member of the first ski patrol at Killington Resort in Vermont and was active with the Special Olympic Ski Team.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janet (Jablonski) Glitzenstein; one son and his wife, Kurt L. and Maralee Glitzenstein of Concord, Mass.; one daughter and her husband, Lisa M. and Damien Enderle of Arlington, Va.; two grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Knobel of Wilmette, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Drive, Boston, MA 02115.

Charlotte D. Rathgeber

PORTSMOUTH - Charlotte D. "Lee" Rathgeber, 81, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Edgewood Centre, after battling the effects of several paralyzing strokes.

She was born in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of the late William H. and Hazel (Henry) Flahive. She had resided in Newburyport, Mass., and Seabrook Beach before moving to New Castle to reside with her daughter 12 years ago.

She was a 1939 graduate of Somerville High School.

Mrs. Rathgeber was an avid reader and volunteered at the Maude H. Treftheren School, New Castle, and at the local library.

She was a baking enthusiast and donated to local bake sales and fund-raisers. She enjoyed quilting and was an accomplished seamstress.

She enjoyed traveling later in life and strolling on Seabrook Beach.

The widow of William H. "Bud" Rathgeber, she is survived by two sons and their wives, W. Eric and Janet Rathgeber of Rockville, Md., and Charles S. "Chaz" and Joann Rathgeber of Sanford, Maine; one daughter and her husband, Jan and Richard White of New Castle, with whom she made her home; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Barbara Rutledge of Marshfield, Mass.; one brother, Webster Flahive of Santa Barbara Calif.; and her lifelong friend, Fran Marshall.

She was predeceased by one sister, Phyllis Carlson.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 24, at 2 p.m. in New Castle Congregational Church, Main Street, New Castle.

In keeping with her wishes, her remains will be scattered off Seabrook Beach at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to N.H. SPCA, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

Mary A. Trainor

HAMPTON - Mary A. Trainor, 85, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Medford, Mass., the daughter of the late William P. and Della T. (Hardiman) Walsh. She had resided in Hampton since 2001, coming from Stoneham, Mass., where she lived for many years.

Mrs. Trainor was a tax supervisor for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue in the Boston office for 20 years retiring in 1987.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Stoneham, and had been an active member of the Winchester (Mass.) Senior Center.

The widow of Joseph T. Trainor, who died in 1987, she is survived by one son, David O. Trainor of Lipan, Texas; three daughters, Joanne M. Goodspeed of Hampton, Kathleen D. McBride of Plymouth, Mass., and Nancy E. Leahy of Seabrook; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Walsh of Savannah, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of N.H., 1 Tremont St., Concord, NH 03301.
