Thomas W. Hutchinson
STRAFFORD - Thomas W. Hutchinson, 60, of Parker Mountain Road, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at his home after a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Manchester, the son of Irene (Webb) Hutchinson of Strafford, and the late Harlan L. Hutchinson Sr. He was raised in Epping and resided there for more than 56 years.
He was educated in Epping schools.
Mr. Hutchinson was currently employed by the Northwood Diner for six years. He was a former employee of Kingston Warren in Newfields for 16 years.
He was devoted to his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joyce (Stevens) Hutchinson; three sons, Thomas W. Hutchinson Jr. and Douglas S. Marshall, both of Northwood, and Thomas J. Monahan of Rochester; one daughter, Hope M. Monahan of Ashland; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Janet I. Townsend of Dallas, Tex., and Diana C. Thomas of Epping; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William Hutchinson and Harlan L. Hutchinson Jr.
Funeral services were held Thursday in Epping Community Church with the Rev. Wayne VanGundy officiating. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery, Epping.

Thomas G. Miskill
RYE - Thomas George Miskill, 82, of 62 Fern Ave., died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at his home following a period of declining health.
He was born July 10, 1920, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Thomas G. and Marguerite (Keepers) Miskill. He was raised in Greensburg, Pa.
He was a 1938 graduate of Greensburg High School where he became accomplished on the clarinet. He attended Admiral Farragut Naval Academy in Toms River, N.J., on a music scholarship.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1939 and furthered his studies at the Naval Training Center in Newport, R.I., where he graduated first in his class. He transferred to the U.S. Naval Base Machinist Mate School in Norfolk, Va., and was again first in his class. His last tour of duty brought him and his family to the West Indies, stationed in Antigua, where he served as captain of the Naval Tracking Station for NASA where he and his crew rescued Sam, a Rheses monkey who had been launched into space in 1959, shortly after his re-entry. He retired from the Navy in 1960 with the rank of lieutenant commander after 20 years of service.
Mr. Miskill worked with the EDO Sonar Corp. until 1975 and retired his position as vice president of Everpure in Westmont, Ill, in 1985.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, skiing and playing bridge. He visited Hawaii each winter for the past 15 years and was a member of the Makai Men’s Golf Club in Princeville, Kauai, and the Portsmouth Country Club.
Mr. Miskill was an active member of St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach, serving as a Eucharist Minister and was a member of St. Theresa’s Men’s Club. He was a seasonal member of St. William Church in Hanalei, Kauai.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helena (Duff) Miskill of Rye; his children and their spouses, Thomas G. Miskill III of Rye, Leslie Miskill of Huntington, N.Y., Linda and Thomas D’Andrade of Huntington, N.Y., Maureen and Richard Rizzo of Islap Terrace on Long Island, N.Y., and Janice and Ricky Barnett of Kilauea, Kauai; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, William Miskill of Buena Park, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Allen Miskill and Donald Miskill.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday in St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach.

Dena S. Snow
KINGSTON - Dena S. (Nason) Snow, 89, of West Shore Park Road, died Monday, June 30, 2003, after being stricken ill at her home.
She was born Sept. 18, 1913, in Kingston, one of 11 children of Freeman L. and Mildred (Marshall) Nason. She was a lifelong resident of Kingston.
She was a graduate of Sanborn Seminary and trained to be a registered nurse at Concord State Hospital as well as in Boston, New York and New Jersey Eye & Ear.
Mrs. Snow retired from Hale Hospital, Haverhill, Mass. She had previously worked at Exeter Cottage Hospital, Exeter Hospital and Phillips Exeter Academy. She and her husband were co-owners of Plummer Crest Nursing Home in Epping.
She was the Kingston town treasurer for 28 years and volunteered at many blood banks.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry T. Snow of Kingston; one son, Harry "Tom" Snow Jr. of Gahanna, Ohio; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; five sisters, Charlotte Standing of Kingston; Lora Lavoie of Exeter Healthcare, Madeline Pelczar of Newmarket, Dorothy "Dot" Ricker and Pauline Hathorne, both of Exeter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Leah L. Snyder; one grandson; three brothers, Nathan Nason, Charles Nason and Elvin "Dud" Nason; and two sisters, Ruth Burke and Elizabeth Whitney.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in First Congregational Church, Kingston, with the Rev. Wendall Irvine officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston.

Elizabeth V. Vogler
EXETER - Elizabeth "Bette" Vogler, 73, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in Monadnock Lodge at RiverWoods of Exeter, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Revere, Mass., the daughter of John and Adriana Vanderpot and was raised in the Beachmont section of Revere. She had resided in India for three years where her husband was employed as a design consultant and in Epping until 1998.
She was a graduate of Revere High School at attended Boston University.
Mrs. Vogler was a private secretary for 15 years to Thomas Dudley Cabot, president of Cabot Corporation in Boston.
She was a member of Epping Community Church and sang with the choir for many years.
She was a devoted mother who enjoyed classical music, jazz and Broadway musicals, antiques, reading, cooking, gardening and everything Dutch.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Vogler of Newmarket; one son, Edmund "Ned" Vogler of Tolland, Conn.; one daughter, Sharan Moore of Kittery, Maine; four grandchildren; one sister, Johanna Beal of Melrose, Mass.; two brothers, John of San Diego and Leonard of Red Hook, N.Y.

Paul G. Sturgis Sr.
SEABROOK - Paul Gaynor Sturgis Sr., 65, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
He was born June 16, 1938, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of M. Helen (Kyanka) Sturgis of Hampton and the late Walter E. Sturgis.
He attended Hampton schools and was a 1956 graduate of Hampton Academy where he excelled in basketball and served as captain of the team.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran after being activated while in the Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Sturgis joined the Carpenter’s Union, Local 33 of Boston in 1967 and worked in the construction of many buildings in the city including the John Hancock Building and Prudential and Harbor Towers. He served local 33 as a working steward and also served on the district council. He retired in 1998 after 30 years of service, moving to Cape Coral, Fla.
He was previously employed by Granite State Shellfish Co., Western Electric and Graf Brothers, and had served an apprenticeship with his uncle who owned the former Sturgis Funeral Home in Hampton.
In addition to hi s mother, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruth M. (Perkins) Sturgis; one son and his wife, Paul G. Jr. and Charlotte Sturgis of Seabrook; one daughter and her husband , Miliki Gaynor Sturgis and Lloyd Chapin of Seabrook; five grandsons; one sister, Joanne Croteau of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Robert E. Sturgis.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.
Pearl A. Skelton
WOLFEBORO - Pearl Alex Skelton, 86, died June 22, 2003, of complications following a car accident.
She was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Erie, Pa., the daughter of the late Frank and Cora Alex, and had resided in Wolfeboro since 1978.
She was a 1935 graduate of East High School, Erie, and was one of the first to enlist in the WACs from Erie in World War II. She rose to the rank of staff sergeant in the APO School.
Mrs. Skelton was employed at Hammermill Paper Co. During her career she attended Administrative School at Texas State College for Women and Westchester (PA) State Teacher College.
After World War II she was a housewife and participated in Women’s Club activities, serving as president of Franklin and Rochester Women’s Clubs. She also traveled widely with her husband of 59 years, John K. Skelton, joining in birding activities.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice D. Whitaker of Falmouth, Maine, and Martha L. Skelton-Borsh of Kinderhook, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Robert A. England
KINGSTON - Robert Augustus England, 87, of Rockrimmon Road, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1916, in Jamaica Plain, Mass., the son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Krebs) England. He resided in Canaan Conn., moving to Kingston in 1977.
He received his bachelor’s degree in 1942 from Springfield College where he received a master’s degree for his double majors of science and education.
Mr. England taught high school science in Springfield and Amherst, Mass., Derry, Farmington and Canaan, Conn.
He was an active member of First Congregational Church, Kingston, where he was on the board of trustees and sang with the church choir.
He was a member of the Kingston Lions Club and the Connecticut Retired Teachers Association.
He enjoyed playing cards and the saxophone.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ilma (Seppala) England of Kingston; one daughter and her husband, Heather and Peter Smith of Exeter; one son, Jeffrey England of Kingston; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
Private graveside services will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston, at the convenience of the family. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
