Robert J. Davison, DEERING

Monday, January 25, 1999

DEERING - Robert J. Davison, 73, of West Deering, died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester.

He was born in Hillsboro, the son of the George and Glee Davison Sr. He was a 1943 graduate of Hillsboro-Deering High School.

Prior to his retirement, e was a machine operator for GTE Sylvania for 27 years.

He was a life member of VFW No. 8268 of Bennington and the Disabled American Veterans of Manchester. He was a member of the Gleason-Young American Legion No. 59 of Hillsboro and St. Mary's Church of Hillsboro.

He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and was an Airman 1st class with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

He was predeceased by a son, Barry who died in 1960, and a brother, George Davison Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Delores (Rooney) Davison of Deering; two sons, Brian Davison of Concord and Brett Davison of Hillsboro; a daughter, Brenda Bill of Concord; a brother, Roland Davison of Manchester; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Woodbury and Son Funeral Home, 32 School St., Hillsboro. The Rev. Andre Bedard will officiate.

Burial will be in the spring in the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Beatrice Connor, EPSOM

Saturday, January 23, 1999

EPSOM - Beatrice "Bea" (Lavallee) Connor, 89, of Suncook Valley Highway, died Thursday at home after a long illness.

She was born in Pembroke, the daughter of Edgar and Malvina (Desruisseaux) Lavalle. She had lived in Epsom for more than 20 years.

She worked for Sprague Electric and several textile companies, including Textron and Pandora, before her retirement.

She was a member of the RSVP program and had received a certificate of appreciation for her years of volunteer work at Epsom Manor. She was known for her skill in baking and decorating cakes, especially for weddings.

She was a communicant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Concord.

Survivors include her husband, Bernard Connor of Epsom; two daughters, Cecile Connor of Pembroke and Jean Paquette of Epsom; two sons, Leo Girard of Henniker and Francis Girard of Epsom; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her close and personal caregiver, Elsa Gonnella.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Loudon Road, Concord. The Rev. Florent Bilodeau, pastor, will be the celebrant.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Concord.

Marjorie S. Ryan, LACONIA

Saturday, January 23, 1999

LACONIA - Marjorie S. Ryan, 84, of Union Avenue and formerly of Gilford, died Thursday at home.

She was born in Tilton, the daughter of Gilbert and Clara (Sullaway) Manning. She had been a resident of the Lakes Region for many years.

She was employed as an inspector at Allen Rogers for many years, retiring in 1971.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Laconia-Gilford. She was also a member of the Pheasant Ridge Country Club.

Her husband, John Ryan, died in 1996. A son, Charles Williams Jr., died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Colin "Tony" Williams of Belmont; four daughters, Patrecia Gray of Keene, Marianne Stanton of Ossipee, Norma Raymond of Voluntown, Conn., and Patrecia Morin of Laconia; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Manning of Tilton and Harold Manning of Canterbury; and several nephews and nieces.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health and Hospice Inc., P.O. Box 578, Laconia 03247-0578.

The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia is in charge of arrangements.

William O. Meckley, NEW LONDON

Saturday, January 23, 1999

NEW LONDON - William O. Meckley, 81, of New London and Marblehead, Mass., died Thursday at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

He was born in Philadelphia, the son of John and Margaret Meckley, and graduated in 1940 from the College of Engineering of the University of Michigan.

He worked in the aircraft engine division of General Electric Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1981. During his career, he received several awards for his work in developing, licensing and marketing aircraft engines. He was also involved in trade negotiations as aerospace industry representative to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

After his retirement, he remained active and involved in many sports, studies, projects and community affairs. He was a co-founder of the Illiad program, which offers continuing courses of study for retirees under the sponsorship of Dartmouth College.

He enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing and golf. For the past 14 years, he was a volunteer track official for the Dartmouth College track team.

He was the widower of Virginia (Gove) Meckley.

Survivors include two sons, John Meckley of Weston, Conn., and Robert Meckley of Marblehead, Mass.; a daughter, Janet Anderson of Yarmouth, Maine; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Old North Church, 41 Washington St., Marblehead, Mass.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10019-4374.

The Eustis-Cornell Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons of Marblehead, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.

Bradford W. Bowker, GILFORD

Saturday, January 23, 1999

GILFORD - Bradford W. Bowker, 76, of Old Lake Shore Road, died Thursday at the St. Francis Home in Laconia.

He was born in Dighton, Mass., the son of Daniel and Louise (Simmons) Bowker, had been a resident of the Lakes Region since 1965.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the co-owner and manager of the Lakes Region Laundry and Cleaners in Laconia for 25 years.

He was a member of the Gilford Community Church, past master and former secretary of Mt. Lebanon Lodge No. 32 F & A.M. He was also a member of Chocorua Lodge No. 51 of Lakeport and the Wilkins-Smith Post No. 1 American Legion of Laconia.

The was the widower of Ruth (Avery) Bowker, who died in 1990. His first wife, Virginia (Richardson) Bowker died in 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Ramona White of Laconia; two grandchildren; and two nieces.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Park Cemetery in Tilton.

The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia is in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne A. King, NORTHFIELD

Saturday, January 23, 1999

NORTHFIELD - Wayne A. King Jr., 24, of Sandogardy Pond Road, died Monday.

He was born in Concord, the son of Linda (Harding) and Wayne King Sr. He lived in Penacook for many years before moving to Northfield six years ago.

He worked at Newstreen International Co. in Epsom.

He attended Merrimack Valley High School. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling. He also loved music and rock concerts.

In addition to his parents of Northfield, he leaves three brothers, Scott King, Timothy King and Justin King, all of Northfield; his maternal grandparents, George and Rita Harding of Penacook; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends and relatives may gather for a visitation tomorrow from to 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Tim Thibeault, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, will officiate.

Burial will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the King Fund, c/o Helene Bourque, 42 Washington St., Penacook 03303.

Ronald E. Martin, PITTSFIELD

Saturday, January 23, 1999

PITTSFIELD - Ronald E. "Sam" Martin, 62, of Thompson Road, died suddenly Thursday.

He was born in Wolfeboro, the son of Maurice and Doris (Keniston) Chagnon.

He was a 1955 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a lifelong resident of the Barnstead-Pittsfield area.

He worked at the Concord YMCA for the past several years as the maintenance manager. He worked prior to that in the maintenance department at Pittsfield High School and at Banks Chevrolet as the body shop manager.

He had been a 4-H leader and was active with the 4-H organization for more than 20 years.

He enjoyed snowmobiling and, years ago, he raced cars at different tracks throughout the state.

Survivors include his wife, Linda (Barton) Martin of Pittsfield; two sons, Jeffrey Martin of Concord and Dana Martin of Pittsfield; three daughters, Rhonda Thibeault of Concord, Tracy Martin of Hill and Doris Martin of Deerfield; a brother, Gordon Martin of Pittsfield; three grandchildren; and many niece and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the South Barnstead Christian Fellowship, Route 126, Barnstead.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to the 4-H Working Steers/Merrimack County Oxbows, c/o Bob Pearson, 118 Little Hill Road, Webster 03303.

Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services, a division of Nutfield Funeral Home Inc., is in charge of the arrangements.

Thaddeus J. Malette, BELMONT

Friday, January 22, 1999

BELMONT - Thaddeus J. "Buck" Malette, 63, of Horne Road, died Wednesday at the Lakes Region General Hospital.

He was born in Brushton, N.Y., the son of Adolphus and Lillian (Stone) Malette. He spent his younger years in Brushton, N.Y., where he attended local schools. He had lived in the Lakes Region for the past 35 years, coming from Vermont.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his service, in 1956, he helped build the Eisenhower Locks at the St. Lawrence Seaway.

He owned and operated the Malette Construction Company for 35 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1670, the NRA, the Aircrafts Owners & Pilots Association and the Belknap Sportsmen's Club.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was predeceased by a son, Craig Malette; four brothers, Melvin Malette, Carlton Malette, Camille Malette and Eugene Malette; and a sister, Betty Robideau.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara (Harte) Malette of Belmont; two sons, Robert Malette of Colorado and Gary Malette of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters Deborah Sanville of Laconia and Tamorah Asvaraksh of Amherst; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Doris Curtin of East Rochester, N.Y., and Cecilia Helbig of Penn Yan, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Belmont. The Rev. Marc Drouin, pastor, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery, Laconia.

Donations may be made to the Guillain Barre Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box 262 Wynnewood, Pa., 19096.
