Raoul A. Acampora, NEW LONDON

Thursday, April 22, 1999

NEW LONDON - Raoul A. Acampora, 82, of Little Sunapee Road, died yesterday at the New London Hospital.

He was born in Bronx, N.Y., the son of Alexander and Maria (Campi) Acampora.

He lived in the Fordham section of the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to New London in 1972.

He graduated from St. Nicholas of Polotine School and attended Fordham University.

He had been employed by J.P Stevens International Division in sales and management for textiles.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New London, and he founded the Men's Club and served as its first president.

He was past president of the Lake Sunapee Protective Association and served on the planning committee for rezoning the residential district.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Slattery) Acampora.

He is survived by a brother, Tullius Acampora of McLean, Va.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, New London, with the Rev. Richard Lower, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 275 Pleasant St., Concord 03301.

Chadwick Funeral Service of New London is in charge of arrangements.

William G. Lawrence, BOSCAWEN

Thursday, April 22, 1999

BOSCAWEN - William G. Lawrence, 90, formerly of Loudon Road in Concord, died Tuesday at the Merrimack County Nursing Home.

He was born in Natick, Mass., the son of Chester and Ethel (Taylor) Lawrence.

He worked in the maintenance department in the Cumming, Ga., school district for several years and was a former member of the Masonic lodge in Falmouth, Mass.

He is survived by three daughters, Sara Doane of Concord, Judith Kentenjian of Lynnfield, Mass., and Susan Ball of Cumming, Ga.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Rollis Forbes; his second wife, Esther Greenlaw; a brother, C. Eliott Lawrence; and a sister, Louise Baker.

There will be a memorial service in Georgia at a later date.

Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

The Bennett Funeral Home, Concord, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille D. Deshales, SANBORNTON

Thursday, April 22, 1999

SANBORNTON - Lucille D. Deshales, 82, of Bay Shore Drive, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia on Tuesday.

She was born in Laconia, the daughter of Rene and Emma (Nedeau) Poire.

She had lived in Laconia most of her life.

She was employed by O'Shea's Department Store as a sales clerk and also was a buyer for many years, retiring in 1979.

She also worked at Laconia Needle, Gilbert Clock and in sales at Scott & Williams.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Belmont.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Arnold Deshales of Sanbornton; a son, Kenneth Deshales of Laconia; a daughter, Rena Larrivee of Sanbornton; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Belmont, Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Marc Drouin, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Burial will take place after the service in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winnisquam Fire Department, P.O. Box 192, Winnisquam 03289-0192.

Helen L. Hammond, ANTRIM

Thursday, April 22, 1999

ANTRIM - Helen L. Hammond, 86, mother of a Weare resident, died Monday at her daughter's home in Antrim.

She was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Herbert and Florence (Putnam) MacKenzie.

She was a chief telephone operator in Nova Scotia for many years before she moved to New England in 1952. She worked at Nathaniel Hawthorne College for many years as well.

She was an organist in the Baptist Church in Antrim and the Presbyterian Church in Antrim. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, as well as the Woman's Club and Garden Club.

She was a member of Portia-Henocon-Asteria Chapter NO. 14 O.E.S. in Hillsboro, Hand in Hand Rebekahs in Antrim, the Grange No. 98 in Antrim and the AARP in Peterborough.

She was predeceased by her husband, David Hammond.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Grant of Antrim and Elizabeth Cole of Antrim; three sons, James Hammond of Summit, Ariz., Donald Hammond of Antrim, and David Hammond of Weare; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. in North Branch Cemetery in Antrim. The Rev. Richard Palmer, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Antrim, will officiate.

Donations may be made to the Antrim Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 92, Antrim 03440, or The Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 186, Antrim 03440.

Graveside services for Celestine A. Humphreys, who died Feb. 25, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Pembroke Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Vogele will officiate.

Trenton J. Gould

Wednesday, April 21, 1999

Trenton Jon Gould, born in Concord and the infant son of Terri Anne Gould of Concord, died on Monday at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon. He was 6 days old.

In addition to his mother of Concord, he is survived by his grandparents, E. Scot and Anne (Ryan) Gould of Henniker; his great-grandparents, Allen and Mary Gould of Henniker; one aunt, Ryan Gould of Henniker; one uncle, Scott Gould of Concord; and several great-aunts and uncles.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home, 3 Hall Ave., Henniker. The Rev. Russ Rowland, pastor of the Henniker Congregational Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Henniker New Cemetery, Henniker.

Dolly S. Marsh, YORK, Maine

Wednesday, April 21, 1999

YORK, Maine - Dolly Smith Marsh, 86, died on April 12 at York Hospital in York, Maine.

She was born in Boston but was raised and educated in Somerville, Mass., and Concord, where she graduated from high school. She attended Emerson College in Boston, majoring in voice and dramatics, and worked as a piano accompanist for the Newton, Mass., school system.

She had been living with her daughter in York, Maine, for the past two and a half years.

She studied voice with Ruth May and came in first place in New Hampshire and second place in New England in the fifth National Radio Audition, sponsored by the Atwater Kent Foundation of Washington, D.C.

She was a member of the Concord Community Players and had leading roles on stage in such plays as Death Takes a Holiday and Cappy Ricks. She made appearances as a dramatic reader as well as a solo singer. She also hosted a radio program for children.

She was predeceased by her son, Christopher Marsh of New York City and her husband, George Marsh of Hampton.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Shaw of York, Maine; two granddaughters, Leslie Wakefield of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Lisa Shaw of Montevallo, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date for the immediate family and close friends.

Donations may be made to York Hospital, Inn Care, 15 Hospital Drive, York, Maine 03909.

Eugenia A. Storrs, BOAZ, Ala.

Wednesday, April 21, 1999

BOAZ, Ala. - Eugenia A. Storrs, 68, died on Dec. 18 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born in Bristol, the daughter of Joseph and Eloise Hanks. She was a graduate of Pembroke Academy, class of 1949.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Storrs, of Boaz, Ala.; one sister, Norma Fitts of Epsom; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Evans Cemetery in Bow. The Rev. John Johnson will officiate.

The Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Timothy J. Stapleton, BARNSTEAD

Wednesday, April 21, 1999

BARNSTEAD - Timothy John Stapleton, 47, of Cooke Road, died on Monday at the Concord Hospice House following a long illness.

He was born in Concord, the son of John and Mae (Geddes) Stapleton and had resided in the area all his life. He worked for the Globe Manufacturing Company in Pittsfield for over 26 years and was currently assistant vice president of sales. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during Vietnam and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by a son, Benjamin "B.J." Stapleton, currently serving in the Marine Corps in Camp LeJune, N.C.; a sister, Catherine Locke of Chichester; his companion, Julie Williams of Loudon; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many longtime friends.

There are no visiting hours.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Pittsfield. The Rev. Charles Paige-Morgan, pastor, will officiate.

A committal service will follow in the Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery, Gilmanton.

Donations may be made to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association, Hospice Program, P.O. Box 1797, Concord, 03302-1797.
