Peter S. Asby Jr., VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.

Wednesday, November 3, 1999

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Peter S. Asby Jr., 43, of Virginia Beach, Va., died Monday at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was born in Concord, the son of Marjorie and Peter Asby Sr.

He was a lieutenant commander in the Navy and was stationed at Presinsurv, Little Creek and Norfolk, Va.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lee Anne Asby; two daughters, Sarah Asby and Katherine Asby; a son, Brian Asby; two sisters, Debra Koltookian and Karen Partridge; a brother, William Asby; a grandmother, Irene Martel; and many other relatives.

A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Naval Air Station, Oceana, Va., by Chaplin Brown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association of America, New Hampshire Affiliate, 132 Middle St., Manchester 03101.

Twiford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Joan M. Adams, HILLSBORO

HILLSBORO - Joan M. "Joni" Adams, 63, died Monday at Concord Hospital.

She was born in Boston, the daughter of Mary (O'Donnell) and Galvin Greenleaf. She was raised in Jamaica Plain, Mass., and lived in Tewksbury, Mass., before moving to Hillsboro eight years ago.

She worked at Wang Laboratories as an account coordinator for the North Street manufacturing division.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Hillsboro. She also was a communicant of St. William's Church when she lived in Tewksbury.

She was active with the Tewksbury Democratic Committee.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Adams Sr.; nine children, Karen Smith of Washington; Donna Stokowski and Randy Adams, both of Lowell, Mass.; Steven Murdock of Tewksbury, Mass.; Debra Adams, Lynn-Ann O'Malley and Richard Adams Jr., all of Reading, Mass., Garold Adams of Hudson and Susan Sullivan of Warner; 20 grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Mason of Tyngsboro, Mass.

Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of Dewey and Main streets, Tewksbury Center, Mass.

The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. William's Church in Tewksbury.

Burial will be held in Tewksbury Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 129 Morgan Drive, Norwood, Mass. 02061.

William French Jr., GILMANTON

GILMANTON - William "Buzzie" C.S. French Jr., 66, of Route 140, died at home on Monday.

He was born in Chichester, the son of W. Clifton and E. Hope French.

He served in the Army, 82nd Airborne Paratroopers, during the Korean conflict. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He worked as a machinist for Baron Machine Shop for 26 years.

He was a member of the United Church of Gilmanton.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Laura (Page) French of Gilmanton; two sons, Ivo French of Laconia, and Buzzie French of Gilmanton; a daughter, Penny St. Cyr of Gilford; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the family lot in Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery in Gilmanton. The Rev. Linda Bolton, pastor of the Gilmanton Town Ministries, will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you reach out to someone you know in need.

The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Weightman, NEW LONDON

NEW LONDON - Dorothy Weightman, 82, of Lakeside Road, died on Sunday at her home.

She was born in Kelly Township, Pa., the daughter of Carl and Mary (Kreisher) Millward.

She graduated from Bucknell University in 1939.

She worked in marketing research with Proctor & Gamble in Philadelphia from 1939 to 1941.

She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi national sorority, and a member and past president of Pi Beta Phi Alumni Association. She had also been on the board of directors of the Packwood House Museum in Lewisburg, Pa.

She was a member of the Bucknell Campus Club, the Bison Century Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Terré Ann Weightman; and a brother, William Millward.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Joseph Weightman of New London; three daughters, Wenda Nolin of Sunapee, Linda Zepp of Windham, and Liz Manning of Springfield; a son, John Weightman of Nottingham; eight grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Tyson of Lewisburg, Pa.; nieces and nephews; and a friend, Dorothy Riley.

There will be no calling hours. Services in her memory will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church of New London with the Rev. John Wall, pastor, officiating, and on Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rooke Chapel at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London 03257, or to Evangelical Hospice, One Hospice Dr., Lewisburg, Pa. 17837.

Canzio M. Langione, YORK, Pa.

Wednesday, November 3, 1999

YORK, Pa. - Canzio M. "Connie" Langione, 78, of York, Pa., and a relative of area residents, died Monday at Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice in Lebanon, Pa.

He was born in Newark, N.J., the son of Canzio and Gertrude (Ricci) Langione.

He served in the Army Air Corps in England during World War II, and received the Purple Heart, five bronze battle stars and a presidential citation.

He is survived by a brother, Arthur Langione of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Anita Hannah of Concord; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, York, Pa.

Donations may be made to the World War II Memorial Fund, American Battle Monuments Commission, P.O. Box 96766, Washington, D.C. 10090-6766.

The John F. Keller Funeral Home of York, Pa. was in charge of arrangements.

Derek B. Green, BEDFORD

BEDFORD - Derek B. Green, 73, of Bedford, died Sunday in a local health care facility.

He was born in Birmingham, England, the son of Thomas and Doris (Woodward) Green. He received his H.N. degree from Aston University in Birmingham, England. He was also a registered professional engineer and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

He emigrated to the United States in 1966 with his family, and lived in Manchester for two years before moving to Bedford. He had held positions as engineering manager, senior engineer, and corporate director of advanced engineering at several New Hampshire firms, including Scovil Aerosol Products of Manchester, Spaulding Fibre of Rochester, Bearcat Industries and J.C. Pitman Company of Concord. He was also the owner and operator of Charter Associates of Bedford.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen (Watts) Green; three daughters, Vivien Green of Manchester, Jennifer Jean of Bedford, and Elizabeth Todd of Goffstown; four grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Green of Sutton Coldfield, England.

There are no calling hours. A reflection of his life will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Derek B. Green College Fund, c/o Jennifer Jean, 46 Cortland Dr., Bedford 03110.

The Goodwin Funeral Home of Manchester assisted the family with the arrangements.

Violet M. Fernandez, GILMANTON IRON WORKS

GILMANTON IRON WORKS - Violet M. Fernandez, 80, of Mountain Road, died Saturday at her home following a long illness.

She was born in South Boston, Mass., the daughter of Jesse and Grace (Nolan) Ferman. She lived in Boston for 42 years and moved to New Hampshire 20 years ago.

She worked many years as a clerk at the First National Bank of Boston.

She was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Church in Alton.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Fernandez.

She is survived by four sons, Edward Fernandez of Wollaston, Mass., Brian Fernandez of Gilmanton Iron Works, Gerard Fernandez of Sqantum, Mass., and Steven Fernandez of Weymouth, Mass.; a daughter, Patricia Powers of Scituate, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, James Ferman of Kisseemee, Fla., and Robert Ferman of Alabama; and a sister, Mary Kiley of Hampton.

There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Riverview Cemetery, Parade Road, Barnstead.

The Perkins Funeral Home of Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.

Helen E. Sherburne, HENNIKER

Tuesday, November 2, 1999

HENNIKER - Helen E. Shurburne, 68, of Henniker, died Sunday at her home.

She was born in Epsom, the daughter of Arthur and Hazel (Baily) Sherburne.

She attended the Henniker Congregational Church.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Maurice Sherburne; and three sisters, Marjorie Clattenburg, Grace Baldino and Viola Sherburne.

She is survived by a brother, Everett Sherburne of Chichester; a sister, Evelyn Zanes of Strafford; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Henniker Congregational Church. The Rev. Russ Rowland will officiate.

Burial will be in Leavitt Cemetery in Chichester.

Marjorie J. Wagner, GREEN VALLEY, Ariz.

Tuesday, November 2, 1999

GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. - Marjorie J. Wagner, 82, of Green Valley, Ariz., and a former area resident, died Sunday after a long illness.

She was born in West Claremont, the daughter of George and Ethel Wagner.

She graduated from Stevens High School.

She was a 30 year employee with New England Telephone/NYNEX, retiring in 1978 as the most senior female manager.

She retired to Green Valley with her longtime companion, Priscilla Clark. She was also a member of the Lazy M Bridge Club, the Green Valley Elks, and the Green Valley Community Church. She also attended the Elkins Chapel in New Hampshire.

She is predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Norman; and her sister, Evelyn Brass.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Hull of Claremont; several nephews; many grandnephews and grand nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Green Valley Community Church, Green Valley, Ariz., with the Rev. F. David Weber officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Union Cemetery in West Claremont at the family plot.

Memorial donations may be made to the Green Valley Community Church, Green Valley, Ariz.

The Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan St., Claremont is in charge of arrangements.
