DARWIN YOUNG

Mr. Darwin C. Young, 98, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and formerly of Milan, died on Friday June 24, 2005 in Boynton Beach. He was born in West Stewartstown on December 29, 1906 and had lived in Milan for many years. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Young was a self-employed farmer.

A graveside service was held on Thursday afternoon, June 30 at the Hillcrest cemetery in Milan, with Reverend Dean Stiles officiating. There were no calling hours. Arrangements are under direction of the Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin.

ANITA BEAUDET

Anita B. Beaudet, 85, of Manchester, died on August 29, 2005 at the Catholic Medical Center. Born on November 13, 1919 in Manchester, she was the daughter of Wilfrid Bonnin and Adeline (Halle) Bonnin.

After her father died, she worked with her mother as a maid. She was eventually employed at a home on 334 Rimmon Street, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Donald J. Beaudet, and resided for more 70 years. They were married for more than 50 years. He died in 1989.

She was a woman of great spiritual faith and was devoted to the Catholic Church. She celebrated a televised Mass every day at home.

When her children were grown, she was a nurse's aide to the elderly at Notre Dame Hospital, now CMC. She later worked at American Velcro, where she retired.

She was a member of the Columbiettes and was a lifelong parishioner of Ste. Marie Church. She will be remembered by many as their beautiful, rosy-cheeked "Memere," who loved to sing, play cards and laugh, and had a strong affinity for animals.

The family includes two sons, Arthur Beaudet of Dunbarton and Leo "Ace" Beaudet of Goffstown; three daughters, Monique Morin of Colebrook, Lillian Lachance of Manchester and Denise Lemaire of Fabreville, Quebec; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She also leaves behind two daughters-in-law, Charlotte and Mack Beaudet; and three sons-in-law, Victor Leo Morin, Gilles Lachance and Pierre Paule Lemaire. Mrs. Beaudet was predeceased by a daughter, Constance Morin, and her husband, Adrien.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes in Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Ste. Marie Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 10 Ferry St., Suite 427B, Concord, NH 03301.

ROSS MILLER

Ross C. Miller, 49, of West Chester, Pa., died on Thursday, August 4, 2005, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in West Chester, he was the son of Norma Harshaw Miller and the late John C. Miller. He was a sales manager for Atlantic Wood Industries.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and raised field trial setters. He enjoyed visits to New Hampshire to see his daughter, Danielle. He had a big impact on his daughter's life, and will be greatly missed by her.

In addition to his mother, Ross is survived by a daughter, Danielle Miller of Columbia; and a sister, Lisa Miller of West Chester.

A memorial service was held on August 8 at the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., in West Chester. Family and friends called at the funeral home before the service. Interment will be private in the Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ross may be made to a charity of one's choice, or to the National Foundation for Cancer Research, 4600 East West Highway Suite 525, Bethesda, MD 20814.

BRUCE SMITH

Bruce A. Smith died on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass., after a sudden illness.

He was born in Laconia in 1965, the son of Larry and Lenore Smith, and attended school in Canaan. He was a stone mason by trade and resided in Manchester, N.H. He enjoyed spending time with his son and playing sports.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather Lenore and Ronald Coffin of Colebrook; his son, Devon Donoghue of Manchester; three brothers, Larry Smith and his wife Lynn of Canaan, Edward Smith of Meredith and Richard Cote of Plymouth; a sister, Tammy Bonnell and her husband Billy of St. Johnsbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Larry Smith.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2 at the Village Cemetery in Canaan.

RITA EMERSON

Rita R. Emerson, 80, of Lancaster, died at her home on Monday morning, November 28, 2005. Mrs. Emerson was born the oldest of 14 children in North Stratford on August 25, 1925, the daughter of William and Carmen (Dupuis) King.

She was raised and schooled in Stratford and moved to Lancaster when she was married to Leslie Z. Emerson. There they raised a family and she worked 10 years for Manchester Shoe.

She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a communicant of All Saints Church in Lancaster, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and a member of the Lancaster Prayer Group since 1985.

Family members include two sons, Leslie Z. Emerson Jr. and Delvern J. Emerson, both of Lancaster; a daughter, Irene D. Schmidt of Lancaster; five sisters, Orleans Jeffers of Westbrook, Maine, Gloria J. Brooks of Lancaster, Carol A. Sibulkin of Sanbornton, Darlene A. Henry of Pittsburg, and Joyce Holden of Charlestown, N.H.; five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie; and a son, Gaylon L. Emerson.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 30, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 1 p.m. at All Saints Church in Lancaster. The Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Steeet Cemetery, Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Emerson's memory to the All Saints Parish Hall Renovation Fund, 163 Main Street, Lancaster, NH 03584.

RONALD HICKS

Ronald D. Hicks, 73, of Cana-stota, N.Y., died on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Univer-sity Hospital in Syracuse.

He was born on May 6, 1932 in Colebrook, the son of Bernie and Agnes Drummond Hicks. Ron spent his early years in New Hampshire, attending schools there. He later lived in Texas and New Jersey before settling in Canastota in 1963. Ron earned a paralegal degree and a pastoral degree.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the Air Force for ten years.

Ron was employed with ITT in Texas for several years, and later worked for Federal Electric Corporation in Paramas, N.J. He also owned and operated Ron's Hideway in Sherrill for many years. He worked at the Madison County Court House for several years, and following his retirement was a bartender for Ma & Pa's in Canastota.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose $421, Oneida, and the Oneida Owls Club, Inc. Ron was married to Emily A. Browning on April 12, 1958 in Cheyenne, Wyo.

In addition to his wife, Emily, the family includes five daughters and a son-in-law, Janet Green of Syracuse, Barbara and Robert Miers of Webster, Rhonda Waybright of Cana-stota, Elizabeth Sellwood of Marshville, N.C., and Jamie-Sue Cowley of Canastota; two brothers and sisters-in-law, (Bernie) Earl and Lillian Hicks and Raymond and Gertrude Hicks, all of Colebrook; nine grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, November 21 at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home in Canastota. The Rev. Martha Fischer, Pastor of the United Church of Canastota, officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours were held on Sunday afternoon, November 22 at the funeral home. In his memory, contributions were made to the American Diabetes Association, CNY Region, 356 N. Midler Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206.

MARIE LACASSE

Marie Ange (Levesque) Beland Lacasse, 87, of Groveton, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin after a lengthy illness. Born on September 22, 1918 in St. Antoine Padoue, Quebec, she was a daughter of George and Adelaide (Oullet) Levesque, and came to the United States in 1954.

She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton, and of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, carpentry work (tearing down and rebuilding), being a caretaker for friends and family, and spending time with her family both in the U.S. and Canada.

Marie is survived by her three sons and their wives, Gerard "Frenchy" and Geneva Beland, Alphonse and Theresa Beland, all of Groveton, and Rodrique and Tammey Beland of Faston, Vt.; and a daughter, Gaitane Parlier of Montreal, Quebec. The family also includes eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and cousins in Canaan and Hereford.

Marie was predeceased by her first husband, Jean Beland, on January 23, 1970, and by her second husband, Leonard Lacasse, on May 1, 2004.

Calling hours were held on Friday evening at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. A Mass of Christian burial was conducted on Saturday morning at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton, with Fr. Daniel Deveau officiating. Burial took place that afternoon at the St. Jeanne D'Arc Cemetery in Salaberry-De-Valleyfield, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church, 28 State Street, Groveton, NH 03582.

HERBERT LITTLEFIELD

Herbert Allen Littlefield, 69, of Somersworth, died on Monday, November 21, 2005 at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

He was born on October 27, 1936 in Dover, the son of Herbert R. and Olive (Robinson) Littlefield.

He worked at J-PAC of Somersworth for 27 years, and for Stuart & Shanes of Dover for 18 years.

Allen was a member of the Strafford Masonic Lodge #29, F & A.M.; Scottish Rite Consistory Bodies, Valley of Nashua, Portsmouth & Dover; Orient Council #14 R. & S.M. of Roche-ster; Portsmouth Shrine Club; Masters & Wardens Association 1st Masonic District Grand Lodge of New Hampshire.

He is survived by his sons, Scott Littlefield and Douglas Littlefield, both of Rochester; his daughter, Rachel Littlefield of Rochester; his sisters, Phyllis Lariviere of Saco, Maine, and Cathleen Campbell and her husband Clayton of Pittsburg; five grandchildren, a niece and six nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Strafford Masonic Lodge # 29, F & AM, PO Box 1760, Dover, NH 03821-1760 in Allen's name. Family and friends called on Friday afternoon, November 25, prior to a Masonic funeral service held at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home in Dover.

ROBERT BOUTHILLIER

Robert Bouthillier, 69, died on November 24, 2005 in Sebastian, Fla.

He attended school at St. Albert in Stewartstown, and Colebrook Academy. He and his former wife, Laura (Covell) Bouthillier, lived in Colebrook, and moved to New Jersey and raised their six children. He then moved to Florida where he retired.

Robert was born on September 9, 1936, at Martinville, Quebec. He is predeceased by his parents, Omer and Anne Marie (Théberge) Bouthillier; a brother, John; and his wife, Mary (Peterson) Bouthillier of Moody, Mo.

He is survived by six children, Bobby and his wife Debbie of Palm City, Fla., Daniel and his wife Joann of West Palm Beach, Fla., Rose Cheemez of Rumson, N.J., Ann and her husband Tom Murphy of Little Silver, N.J., Michael of Middletown, N.J., Sue and her husband George Cuje of Middletown; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His family includes his brothers, Fr. Bertrand Bouthillier of Laval, Quebec, Real (wife Lucille) of Port Charlotte, Fla., Gerard (wife Marie) of West Plains, Mo. Marcel (wife Bertha) of Stoutland, Mo., Reginald (wife Rayma) of Springtown, Texas, and Claude (wife Doris) of Canaan; and sisters Giséle (late husband Wilfred) of North Port, Fla., Georgette (husband Richard) Zukoski of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Ellen (husband Irving) of Kyle, Texas.

DAVID CROWELLS

David Lovering Crowell, 74, of Lady Lake, Fla., and Maidstone, Vt., and formerly of Goffstown died on November 24, 2005, after a brief illness.

Mr. Crowell was born on March 3, 1931 in St. Johnsbury, the son of Robert and Ida (Lovering) Crowell. He was raised and educated in New Hampshire, and was a 1949 graduate of Concord High School. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1953.

While attending UNH Mr. Crowell was a member of the lacrosse team and a charter member of the Acacia Fraternity. Mr. Crowell served in the Air Force, attaining the rank of captain prior to his retirement, and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Crowell started his career as assistant director of the YMCA of Nashua. He went on to be the editor of the Hillsboro Messenger newspaper and deputy director of New Hampshire's Concentrated Employment Program (CEP), and retired as town manager of Goffstown in 1989. He was a member of the Order of Elks, Lodge 1831 in Littleton; American Legion Post 68 in Littleton; Maplewood Country Club in Bethlehem; and the Littleton zoning board.

He will long be remembered as a caring man, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was predeceased by first wife, Constance Wilson Crowell, in 1973.

The family includes his wife, Sara Metcalf Crowell of Maidstone and Lady Lake; two sons, Garrison R. Crowell of Sudbury, Mass., and Matthew C. Metcalf of Lyman, N.H.; three daughters, Linda C. Freeman of Ranch Cordova, Calif.; Nancy M. Carroll of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Cathy L. Metcalf of Boylston, Mass.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Jane C. Eads of Gresham, Oregon.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 15, at 1 p.m. at French & Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast St., Goffstown. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall St., Manchester, NH 03101.American Diabetes Association, CNY Region, 356 N. Midler Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206.

LUCILLE PARKINSON

Lucille Mildred Parkinson, 73, of Genesis Health Care of Lebanon and a former longtime resident of the River Road in Claremont, died on Wednesday evening, November 30, 2005 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

She was born in Sunapee on March 28, 1932, the daughter of Clayton and Mildred (Scranton) Buswell. She was a graduate of Stevens High School, Class of 1950.

Shortly after high school Lucille started working as a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Co., where she worked for nearly 15 years. She also worked at the Woodbine Cottages in Sunapee as a pastry cook, later for the Johnson & Dix office as a telephone operator and answering service, at the Sullivan County Nursing Home and the Alice Peck Day Hospital.

She retired in 1998 after four years with On-Line Answering Service, which she helped set up with her daughter, Beth, in Cornish. She also lived with Beth in Grafton and in Pittsburg, and at Genesis for the past years.

Lucille loved and enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a resident council representative and member of the Red Hat Society at Genesis in Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Parkinson on May 21, 2000, and by a son, Medcalf Parkinson, on Septem-ber 29, 2000.

The family includes three sons, Roscoe Parkinson and Tobiah Parkinson, both of Clare-mont, and Lance Parkinson of Unity; two daughters, Beth-Anne Dube of Pittsburg and Lynnan Parkinson of Clare-mont; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, H. Leonard Buswell of Riverside, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Erdine) White Sr. of Corona, Calif., Mrs. Roger (Edith) Kidder Sr. of Hooksett, Mrs. Robert (Helene) Norman, of North Charlestown and Mrs. Nancy Decoteau of Claremont; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. Graveside committal services were held on Monday afternoon, December 5 in Union Cemetery. The Stringer Funeral Home of Claremont is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Genesis Health Care, for the activity room, 243 Old Etna Road, Lebanon, NH 03766.
