Pauline E. (Hammar) Bardsley Santos
Pauline E. (Hammar) Bardsley Santos, 71, of Nashua, New Hampshire, died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday February 1, 2005.

(She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 7, 1933, a daughter of the late Alrick J. and Fossie (Greenwood) Hammar Spence. She had been a resident of Nashua for many years; she had also resided in Pelham.

She was the wife of Charles R. Santos, Sr. whom she married in November of 1989.

Mrs. Santos was employed by Sanders Associates for 15 years, Tulley Auto Dealership for 15 years, and the Persian Rug Galleries for four years. Most recently, she worked as a Paraprofessional in the Nashua School System.

She was a member of the Ladies Guild of the Church of the Good Shepherd and Compassionate Friends. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Pelham, New Hampshire.

Her greatest achievement in life was raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren.

Mrs. Santos was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua. She was educated in Pelham Public Schools and graduated high school in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by a son, James H. Bardsley III and a sister-in-law, Mary Hammar.

In addition to her loving husband of 15 years, survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Dan Holden of Hudson, Heidi and Ken Nielsen of Nashua, Rebecca and Fred Dolloff of Amherst; her three step-sons, Charles R. Santos, Jr. of Wareham, Massachusetts, Christopher A. Santos of Manchester, and Robert M. Santos of Nashua and her step-daughter Sandra Santos of Nashua; seven grandchildren, Jake Holden, James Holden, Katie Bardsley, Olivia Bardsley, Samuel Paul Nielsen, Charles R. Santos III, and Erin E. Santos; one great-grandchild, Ariana Santos; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Alrick Hammar of Windham, Philip and Kathy Hammar of Bedford; one sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Frank Babin of St. Petersburg, Florida; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Arthur Santos of Wareham, Massachusetts, Albert and Evelyn Santos of Wareham, Massachusetts, Richard and Martha Santos of Rochester, Massachusetts, and Joseph Santos of Wareham, Massachusetts, and Helen Santos Haywood of Wareham, Massachusetts; other family members include Dick Spence of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Bill and Pat Spence of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Betty and Gerald McCarthy of Lowell, Massachusetts, an aunt Rita Greenwood of Nashua, five nieces, Kelly Shaw, Carrie Shaw, Gretchen Besse, Wendy Reed, and Susan O’Roarke, eight nephews, Russell Shaw, Mike Hammar, Carl Hammar, Mark Hammar, Rick Hammar, Kevin Hammar, Phil Ray Hammar, and James Andrews.

Arrangements were in the care of Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua (603) 883-3401.

Caroline (Shuman) Clough
Caroline (Shuman) (Sytek) Clough, 92, of Londonderry, died peacefully in her sleep at her home on March 17, 2008, after a period of declining health.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 29, 1915, she was the daughter of William and Eugenia Shuman. She grew up in South Boston, Massachusetts, and worked for many years as a bookkeeper in various businesses in the Philadelphia area. Mrs. Clough had been an active member of the Doylestown Nature Club in Pennsylvania and sang in the church choir.

She was the widow of John Sytek who died in 1967, and of Wendell Clough who died in 1988.

She relocated to New Hampshire in 1996 and was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Londonderry.

She is survived by her son, John Sytek, and his wife Donna of Salem, and a granddaughter, Mary Sytek of Baltimore, Maryland.

There are no calling hours. Burial will be April 28 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to Greater Derry Community Caregivers, 58 East Broadway, Derry, NH 03038. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of the arrangements.

Alvin Frederick Coleman
Alvin Frederick Coleman, 58, of Orlando, Florida, but formerly of Pelham, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Dr. Phillips Hospital in Orlando. He was the beloved husband for 38 years of Kathleen (Donnelly) Coleman.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, April 10, 1949, the son of the late Michael F. and the late Genevieve (Murray) Coleman, he attended Pelham schools and graduated from Alvirne High School in Hudson with the Class of 1967.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Coleman served with the Marine Corps.

Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of Coleman Construction Co., Inc. in Pelham.

Besides his wife, Mr. Coleman is survived by a daughter, Kristen Falzaranno of Orlando; a son, Frederick Coleman and his wife Jennifer of Methuen, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Taylor Falzaranno, Frederick Coleman and Kiele Coleman; a brother, Michael Coleman and his wife Jane (Ducharme) Coleman of Pelham; and also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call for a memorial visitation at the Pelham Funeral Home, 11 Nashua Road in Pelham from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Habitat for Humanity, 1925 Traylor Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32804.

Theresa E. (Houle) Dionne
Theresa E. (Houle) Dionne, 86, of Salem, died March 12, 2008, at Sunbridge Colonial Heights in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Theresa was born and educated in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Roseanna (Dubois) and Achille Houle. She had lived in Salem for 10 years.

Theresa had worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Lawrence and had worked at WT Grant in Lawrence for many years. She was a former member of St. Patrick Church in Lawrence and a member of St. Joseph Church in Salem.

Theresa enjoyed playing cards with her family, bingo, going on trips and going to Foxwoods.

She was predeceased by her son, Thomas, and her husband, Joseph “Chick” Dionne.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond and his wife Carol Dionne of Florida, and James and his wife Denise Dionne of Haverhill, Massachusetts; three daughters, Evelyn and her husband Ronald Dumont of Florida, Joanne and her husband Francis Preneveau of Salem, and Susan and her husband Paul Coutsonikas of Lawrence; a brother, Eugene Houle; and 10 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was held March 17 at St. Joseph Church; cremation followed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Animal Rescue League, 4 SARL Drive, Salem, NH 03079. Arrangements were in the care of the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem.

Lorraine M. (Colella) Duggan
Lorraine M. (Colella) Duggan, 55, of Salem, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Lorraine was born and educated in Medford, Massachusetts, and graduated from Medford High School in 1971. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Papa) and Alfred Colella, Sr. Lorraine had lived in Salem for 30 years.

Lorraine was the Lab Office Coordinator for Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family and friends. Lorraine enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking and playing the slot machines. She was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan.

She is survived by her beloved her husband, Stephen Duggan of Salem; a son, Patrick Duggan of Somerville, Massachusetts; a daughter, Lauren Duggan of Salem; four brothers, Thomas Colella, Sr., of Woburn, Massachusetts, Richard Colella, Sr., and his wife Judith of Reading, Massachusetts, Alfred Colella, Jr., and his wife Marianne of Sandown, and Christopher Colella, Sr., and his wife Roxanne of Salem; his mother-in-law, Margaret Duggan of Salem; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held March 25 at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem. Burial followed in Pine Grove in Salem. Contributions in Lorraine’s memory may be sent to the Caritas Holy Family Cancer Management Center, 70 East Street, Methuen, MA 01844.

Gregory J. McDevitt
Gregory J. McDevitt, 37, of Nashua, lost his life to an accidental drowning on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in Nashua.

Greg was born in Nashua on September 28, 1970, a son of William and Joyce (Angley) McDevitt of Pelham. He was the husband of Catherine (Lepine) McDevitt of Nashua.

Mr. McDevitt was educated in Pelham schools and received an undergraduate degree from New Hampshire College and a master’s degree from Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts. He was the owner of McDevitt Recruiting which provided recruiting and HR consulting services. Greg served time with the Marine Corps Reserve as an enlisted Marine with Bravo Company 1/25 Marines in New Hamphsire.

Greg was a genuine, kind, caring and loving husband, father, and friend. He was always giving to others, especially his family. He was admired by all that had the pleasure of knowing him and everything about him will be missed, especially his sense of humor. He was a beloved son and brother and source of great joy to his many friends. Greg and his wife, Catherine, are expecting their fourth child due in July.

Besides his parents and his wife, Gregory is survived by two sons, Joshua McDevitt and Jake McDevitt both of Nashua; one daughter, Julia McDevitt of Nashua; two brothers, Patrick McDevitt and his wife Kristine of Belgium, and Christopher McDevitt and his wife Alisha of Concord; four sisters, Theresa McDevitt of Derry, Jennifer Pendergast and her husband William of Pelham, Rebecca Buxton and her husband Dwayne of Arkansas, and Stefenie Cote and her husband Kenneth of Pelham; also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held March 18 at the First Congregational Church in Pelham. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions to benefit Greg’s children may be made to the Gregory McDevitt Memorial Fund, c/o Digital Federal Credit Union, 257 Lowell Road, Hudson, NH 03051. Services and arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Anctil-Rochette and Son Funeral Home in Nashua.

Frances Mlocek
Frances Mlocek, 90, of Salem, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Salemhaven Nursing Home in Salem.

She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where she grew up and attended schools, and graduated from Lawrence High School. She was a resident of Salem for the past 50 years.

Miss Mlocek was a retired nurse’s aide for Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was also a clerk at Symphony Hall in Boston.

She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Paulina (Skladanoska) Mlocek. She was also the sister of the late Joseph and Emil Mlocek.

She is survived by her nephew, John and his wife Lois Mlocek of Salem; two grand-nephews, Jason Mlocek of Atkinson, and Jonathan Mlocek of Iowa; a grand-niece, Jennifer Brooks of Windham; two great-grand-nephews and three great-grand-nieces

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 24 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. Burial followed in Holy Sepulcher cemetery in North Andover, Massachusetts. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

William B. Nicoll
William B. Nicoll, 66, of Windham, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at his home.

He was born in Andover, Massachusetts, where he grew up and attended schools. He was a resident of Windham for the past 24 years and formerly of North Andover, Massachusetts.

Mr. Nicoll was an Electronics Technician for Eastern Airlines and American Airlines in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a member of West Parish Church in Andover. He was an Air Force veteran, and spent many years in the Air Force Reserves. He enjoyed working around the yard, the outdoors, home improvements, traveling, and planes.

He was the son of the late Geoffrey B. and Celia (Reynolds) Nicoll, and brother of the late Robert Nicoll.

He is survived by his wife Sandra (Smith) Nicoll of Windham; a son, Barry Nicoll of Swampscott, Massachusetts; a sister, Donna Meisel of Hampstead; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 21 at 10:30 a.m. at West Parish Church, Andover, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, c/o www.alzfdn.org. Arrangements are in the care of Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem.

James A. Penkofski
James A. Penkofski, 88, of Hudson, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at home. He was born April 4, 1919, in Nashua, son of James and Felicia Penkofski. He graduated from Nashua High School and served in the Army during World War II. He was the owner and operator of a scrap metal business on Amherst Street in Nashua for almost 40 years. He was a member of the Nashua Elks Club, and enjoyed playing poker, dancing with his wife, trips to the Bahamas and playing blackjack at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos.

His wife, Alberta “Bertha” Y. (Landry) Penkofski of 43 years, died in 1990.

He leaves a daughter, Sandra F. Farland of Hudson; two sons, James A. Penkofski of Hudson and Joseph “Joe” Penkofski of North Port, Florida; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, John Penkofski, and a sister, Bernice Gagnon.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on March 24 at St. Kathryn Church in Hudson. Burial followed in Holy Cross cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center, 781 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104. Arrangements were under the care of Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home in York, Maine.

Robert A. Sidney
Robert A. Sidney, 44, of Salem, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

He was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, grew up, and was educated in Salem where he graduated from Salem High School in 1981. He was a long time resident of Salem, and lived in Atkinson and Danville for a short time.

Bob was a former manager for the Store 24 in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He attended St. Matthew Church in Windham and enjoyed golf, fishing, and skiing.

He was predeceased by his mother, Teresa A. (Endyke) Sidney, and a sister, Barbara Karp.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie (McCabe) Sidney of Salem; two sons, Trevor and Jacob Sidney of Salem; two sisters, Carole Hoerner of Manchester, Linda Cardoza of Merrimac, Massachusetts, and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be private for the family and burial will be in Immaculate Conception cemetery, Lawrence, Massachusetts. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Firefighters Relief Association, 152 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.
