Arthur L. Baker, Jr.
After a courageous battle with stomach cancer, Arthur L. Baker, Jr., 76, of Windham and formerly of North Reading, Massachusetts, died Friday evening May 27 at his home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Marion (Stevenson) Baker; they would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary later this year.

He was born in Medford, Massachusetts, November 17, 1928, the son of the late Arthur L. Baker, Sr. and the late Sybil (Haseltine) Baker. He was raised in Malden, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of Malden High School in the Class of 1947. In 1972, he graduated from Lowell Technological Institute (now the University of Massachusetts - Lowell).

Mr. Baker was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the Military Police.

Before retiring several years ago, he was a Senior Project Manager with Mass Electric Construction Co. of Allston for many years. He held membership in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 103 for over 57 years.

He was a member of the North Reading Masonic Lodge A. F. & A.M.

Mr. Baker and his wife did a lot of traveling before Marion slowed down. Their favorites were to England and a cross country trip visiting as many gardens as possible. They also enjoyed many trips with the former Senior Friends of Parkland in recent years.

He enjoyed the Red Sox, but stopped everything to watch his favorite New England Patriots. He looked forward to the family's many gatherings through the years.

His biggest passion was as a gardener, passing on his knowledge and sharing his plants with others. No one left his home in the planting season without the car trunk open and Arthur giving them plants.

He was one of the first members of the Windham Garden Club and received the club's Golden TroweI award in 1990.

Mr. Baker was also a member of the first New Hampshire Master Gardener's class. Still active until illness forced him to stop, he was working on the Rockingham County Botanical Garden in Brentwood, which is a work in progress.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Susan Earle and her husband, David, of Wilmington (Susan was his primary care-giver with the rest of the family working as a team to help); A. Lee Baker and his wife, Debra, of Stephens City, Virginia; Cliff Baker and his wife, Barbara, of Brookline, New Hampshire; and Amy Lynne Baker-Santagate of Derry; eleven grandchildren, Erich Baker and his wife, Melissa, of Stephens City, Virginia; Brad Baker and his wife, Kati, of Brookline; Rachel Ann Baker of Winchester, Virginia; Scott S. Conrad of North Reading; Shannon L. Baker of Brookline; Diana Lee Baker of Stephen City, Virginia’ Beth L. Baker of Brookline; Rebecca A. Baker and Callie L. Baker, both of Stephens City, Virginia; Shailynne J. Santagate and Jaquelyn M. Sanatgate both of Derry; three great grandchildren, Siera S. Baker, Jade Wainwright, and Dillon Baker; a sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Emile Rodrigue of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were invited to a Remembrance Service to Honor His Life on Wednesday, June 1 at the first Congregational Church, Main Street, Pelham. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the R.C. B.G. c/o Nancy Adams, New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, 113 North Road, Brentwood, New Hampshire 03833 or to the Plymouth/Derry Hospice, 1E Commons Drive, Unit 31, Londonderry, New Hampshire 03053. Sheree (Sullivan) Campbell
Sheree (Sullivan) Campbell, 49 years old, a resident of Pelham, and formerly of the Highlands section in Lowell, Massachusetts, died Saturday evening, June 17, at her home in Pelham, after a long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Alan J. Campbell, who survives her. This year marked their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.

She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on August 9, 1956, daughter of John Sullivan, of Milford, Massachusetts, and the late Barbara (Forsythe) Sullivan. She was a graduate of the Lowell Public School System.

Mrs. Campbell had been employed as a paraprofessional by the Lowell School Department at the Bailey School. Previously she had been employed at the Harvard Community Health Plan, and Savings Bank Life Insurance. Prior to her move to Pelham, she was a communicant of St. Margaret Church, in Lowell.

Sheree is survived by her husband and father; her five children, Matthew A., Timothy J., Ryan M., Taylor B., and Cody J. Campbell, all of Pelham; three brothers, John Sullivan, Jr. of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts; Scott Sullivan of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; and Michael Sullivan, of Burlington, Massachusetts; two sisters, Valerie Santos of Lowell and Sandra Thurston of Nashua; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ildage and Beatrice Campbell, of Naples, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Glen Campbell of Pelham, and Dage Campbell, Jr. of Lowell; one sister-in-law, Nancy Shanahan of Lowell; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was the sister of the late Christine Hughes, who died in 1988.

Her Funeral Mass was held June 21 at St. Margaret Church in Lowell. Burial followed in St. Mary cemetery, Tewksbury, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West; Floor 6; Brookline, MA 02445-9924. Arrangements by Mahoney Funeral Home.

Bennett E. Hart
Bennett E. Hart, 59, of Hudson died peacefully at home following a lingering illness on Friday evening, June 2.

He was born in New York City, New York, on August 19, 1946, a son of the late Bennett Edward and Rosemary (O'Grady) Hart, Sr. He had resided in Hudson since May 1987, and previously resided in Nashua.

Mr. Hart was the husband of Susan K. (Kiddie) Hart whom be married on May 17, 1980.

He was a steam engineer and fireman for James River Paper Mills in Pepperell, Massachusetts, for five years until he became ill. At one time, Mr. Hart was a bus driver and policeman in New York City, New York.

Mr. Hart was a motor cycle enthusiast, and enjoyed racing vintage British motorcycles. At one time, he also enjoyed aviation and photography.

He-was a member of the Northern N.E. Norton Owners.

At the age of 15, Mr. Hart graduated from New York City High School. He then studied in an engineering program at the University of Arizona.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Alexander Kiddie.

In addition to his wife of 26 years, survivors include a daughter, Tracey Lee Lane and her fiancé Ron Brackett both of Nashua; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark A. Hart and Eric N. and Janell Hart both of New Jersey; a former son-in-law, Oscar Lane of Nashua; six grandchildren, James, Samantha, and Dakota Lane, Toby Brackett, Dustin and Noah Hart; a sister, Betsy Dahl of South Easton, Massachusetts; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Walker and her husband Shelby of Nashua; a brother-in-law Alexander Kiddie, Jr. of Barrington, New Hampshire; two sisters-in-law, Donna Bleistein and her husband James of Berwick, Pennsylvania, and Barbara Philbrook of Nashua; a half brother and half sister; two nephews and three nieces; several cousins; and two aunts, Nancy Olson of Bronx, New York and Victoria LeMar of St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services were private. Arrangements were in the care of the Davis Funeral Home in Nashua.

Kenneth T. Houston
Kenneth T. Houston, 78, a resident of Litchfield, died Saturday, June 24 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire. He was the husband of the late Marie T. (Desmarais) Houston.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on December 17, 1927, he was a son of the late George E. and Annette (Geoffroy) Houston.

He served with the United Sates Coat Guard during peacetime.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Houston was employed by the City of Lowell in the Ashes and Waste Department.

He was a member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert K. and Luanne (Daigle) Houston, and David F. and Theresa (Mahoney) Houston, all of Litchfield; two sisters, Jacqueline Rashid of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Paulette Moore and he husband Robert of Pauma Valley, California; three brothers, his twin brother Maynard Houston and his wife Rita of Lowell, Paul Houston and his wife Jeanne of Port St. Lucy, Florida, and Maurice Houston and his wife Deborah of Milford, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Christopher Houston and his wife Kristen from San Diego, California, Matthew Houston of Casselberry, Florida, Craig, Kyle, Phillip, and John Houston, all of Litchfield; a sister-in-law, Therese Houston of Villa Park, California, and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Bernard Houston.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on June 29 at Ste. Therese Church in Dracut, Massachusetts; burial at St. Joseph cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA or to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054. McKenna – Ouellette Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.

Ralph Kelley
Ralph Kelley, 85, of Hudson, died on Saturday, June 24, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

He was born in Lynne, Massachusetts on February 6, 1921, a son of the late Guy and Dorothy (Hall) Kelley. He had resided in Hudson for over 55 years, and previously resided in Nashua.

He was the husband of Lourdes (Tolentino) Kelley whom he married on October 19, 1986.

Mr. Kelley owned and operated Kelley’s Answering Service in Hudson for 60 years. At one time, he also was an accountant for the IRS in Andover, Massachusetts, and a public stenographer.

Mr. Kelley was the recipient of a bronze medal from the Carnegie Hero Fund commission for his rescue of two young women from a burning building in 1938. He also was an active member of the Lions Club in Hudson.

He graduated from Nashua High School and attended Rivier College.

He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Jean (Hilton) Kelley, his son, John Kelley, and two brothers, David and Almond Kelley.

In addition to his wife of 19 years, survivors include a daughter, Brenda Wee Sit; his adopted sons, Tommy Kelley of Massachusetts and Joseph Kelley of Florida; four grandchildren, Lizette, Liezl, Bianca, and Tiffany; and four nephews and two nieces, Richard, David, Steven, Donald, Donna and Sandra Kelley.

A memorial service was held at Davis Funeral Home in Nashua on Thursday evening, June 29.

Daniel Robert Gionet

Army Medic, Sergeant Daniel Robert Gionet, 23, of Pelham, New Hampshire, died Sunday, June 4 in Baghdad, Iraq, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

He was the loving husband of Katrina (Lawrence) Gionet of Clayton, New York.

Sergeant Gionet was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on January 2, 1983, son of Daniel R. "Frenchy" Gionet of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Denise M. (Trepanier) Gionet of Pelham. He attended Ste. Jeanne d'Arc School until the fifth grade and graduated from Pelham High School, the class of 2001.

He enlisted in the U. S. Army on his 18th birthday. He served his first tour of duty in Afghanistan from July of 2003 to May of 2004 and re-enlisted as an Army Medic. His tour in Iraq began in December of 2005. Sergeant Gionet was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. He gave the ultimate sacrifice during combat operations with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Multi-National Corps-Iraq, and the United States Army. He also was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

Daniel will always be remembered by his family and friends as a selfless, sensitive, caring, and fun-loving young man who loved to make people laugh. He always put others before himself. He enjoyed playing baseball, wrestling, nice cars, and most of all spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Katrina (Lawrence) Gionet; his brother, Darren A. Gionet of Pelham; his sister, Alycia T. Gionet of Pelham; his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Theresa Trepanier of Pelham; his paternal grandparents, Euclide and Louiselle Gionet of Lowell; uncle and godfather Paul Trepanier of Dracut, Massachusetts; his godmother, Debra Madigan of Milford, New Hampshire; aunts and uncles, Becky Trepanier of Dracut, Robert and Mary Anne Trepanier of Danbury, New Hampshire, Mireille Sabbio of Pelham, Marie-Marthe Brodeur and Joanne Gionet both of Lowell; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joseph and Judy O'Brien of Clayton, New York; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Josie O'Brien of Clayton, New York, Tim and Martha Lawrence of Hawaii and many cousins.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Pelham; Burial will be in Gibson cemetery, also in Pelham. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Salem Boys & Girls Club, 23 Searles Road, Windham, NH 03087 or the Boys & Girls Club of Nashua, 47 Grand Avenue, Nashua, NH 03060. The Dracut Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lionel Leo Lavoie
Lionel Leo Lavoie, 82, of Steele Road, Hudson, died Wednesday, May 31 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack.

Mr. Lavoie was born in Nashua on March 12, 1919, a son of the late William J. and Wildrey (Deboisbriand) Lavoie. He was the widower of Annette (Gagnon) Lavoie who died December 22, 1996.

Mr. Lavoie was a longtime resident of Hudson. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Lavoie had been employed by Spaulding Associates. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 483rd Field Artillery Battalion. He was a communicant of St. Kathryn Church.

Mr. Lavoie is survived by several nieces, nephew, and cousins. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, June 2 at St. Kathryn Church; burial took place in St. Louis cemetery.

The Anctil – Rochette and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Annette B. Levesque
Annette B. Levesque, 74, of Lowell Road, Hudson, died Tuesday, May 30 at the Fairview Nursing Home.

Ms. Levesque was born in Nashua on September 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Marie Louise (Levesque) Levesque.

Ms. Levesque was a longtime resident of Nashua and was educated in local schools. Prior to her retirement, Ms. Levesque had been employed by Horton and Hubbard and Sanders Associates. She was a communicant of Infant Jesus Church.

Ms. Levesque is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Pauline Levesque of Nashua; a sister-in-law, Pauline Levesque of Portland, Oregon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, June 2 at Infant Jesus Church, and the burial followed at St. Francis Xavier cemetery. The Anctil – Rochette and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Florette Munday Clark
Florette Munday Clark, 84, of Hudson, died Sunday, May 28 at her residence in Hudson.

She was born October 29, 1921, in Nashua, daughter of the late Donat and Irene (Dube) St. Jean.

Florette was predeceased by her first husband of 27 years, Lake Munday, in September of 1980. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Walter Panko.

She was a Nashua High graduate, Class of 1941, and was a longtime resident of Hudson. She was a member of the Hudson Historical Society, Hudson Lions Club, and Hudson Tax Payers Association. She was a member of the American Heart Association for 10 years and in 1957 won the Pillsbury Bake Off in New York City. She loved to entertain and was known for her extravagant parties. She loved spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Dupras, in 2002. She was also predeceased by a brother, Raymond St. Jean, and a sister, Doris St. Onge.

She is survived by one son, Karl Munday of Hudson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Briand of Hudson, and Michelle and Brian Ahearn of Merrimack; a sister and a brother-in-law, Simone and Albert Desrosiers of Hudson; and eight grandchildren, Kimberly Mello of Nashua, Edwin Dupras and Mark Dupras of Georgia, Meredith Page of Hudson, Lance Corporal Brian Ahearn, USMC, of California, Brooke Munday, Lauren Munday, and Lake Munday, all of Hudson. As well as four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held earlier this week. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.
