Elizabeth Anne Hotham
Elizabeth Anne "Betty Anne" (Hurley) Hotham, 39, of Hudson, died Wednesday, April 5 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

Betty Anne was born March 5, 1967, in Chelsea., Massachusetts. She was the much-loved daughter of mother Jean Carol (Gionest) Labbe and stepfather Roland P. Labbe of Hudson and father Ronald J. Hurley and stepmother Joanne Hurley of Haines City, Florida. She was raised in Chelsea and Winthrop, Massachusetts, and moved to Hudson in 1994, where she made her home with her husband, Dave, and children Heather and Andrew. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1995 and attended Merrimack College and Rivier College. She worked as a secretary for Wells Fargo and the law firms of New Hampshire Public Defender; Hamblett and Kerrigan; Sullivan and Gregg; and Merra, Kanakis, Creme and Mellor.

Betty Anne’s greatest joys were her children, her husband, her family, and friends. She loved children, animals, crafting and big celebrations for family and friends. Community was very important to Betty Anne and she gave generously of her time to Brownie Troop 426 Swift Water Council, Nottingham West Elementary School, the First Church of Nashua bell choir, her Mom-To-Mom group at St. Kathryn Church of Hudson, and the Rivier College Early Education Center. Her children loved her celebrations of childhood with Winnie the Pooh, Disney and the many family trips to Sesame Place in Pennsylvania, and Andrew will deeply miss her hugs.

In addition to her parents, Betty Anne is survived by her loving husband, David A. Hotham of Hudson; her daughter, Heather Elizabeth Hotham of Hudson; her son, Andrew Louis Hotham of Hudson; her brother, Ronald Hurley, Jr. and his wife, Rachelle, and son, Joey, all of Akron, Ohio; five stepbrothers, Ronald Labbe and his wife, Michele, of Boston, Massachusetts, Richard Labbe and his wife, Debby, of Connecticut; Daniel Labbe of Waltham, Massachusetts; and Daniel Murphy and his wife Marybeth of Chicago, Illinois; stepsisters, Linda Noble and her husband, Mark, of Epping, New Hampshire; Joanne Labbe of Manchester; Rhonda Labbe, Alicia Labbe of Dracut, Massachusetts; Bernie Taurasi and family of Manchester; her aunt, Agnes Williamson; her uncle, AIfred Labbe; her devoted parents in-law Grove and Charity Armstrong of Arizona and Dean Hotham of Hudson; her sisters-in-law Judith Dickinson of Concord, New Hampshire; Janet Hotham of Cumberland, Maine, Phyllis Fallon of Newmarket, New Hampshire, and their husbands; her many nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts, great uncles; and her many supportive friends.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of Nashua, 1 Concord Street, Nashua. Burial will follow at Edgewood cemetery, Nashua. Betty Anne would have wanted to be remembered through generosity to the community; in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Brownie Troop 426 Swift Water Council, the Rivier College Early Education Center, the First Church of Nashua, or the American Cancer Society. The St. Laurent Funeral Home in Nashua was in charge of the arrangements.

Sharon (Courtney) Meredith

Sharon (Courtney) Meredith, a 30-year resident of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, succumbed to cancer peacefully at her home in Connecticut on March 29.

Born in 1944 and raised in Ohio, daughter of Ralph. L. Courtney (deceased) and Juanita L. Courtney (92), with many generations of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is survived by her brother Philip L. Courtney and wife, Lynne Michelle Courtney of Colorado; two daughters and son-in-laws, Lynn C. Gauthier and Rodolphe A. Gauthier, Jr. of Hudson, and Joanne S. Normandin and Robert A. Normandin, Jr. of Rindge; her son, Dr. Thomas R. Meredith of East Haven, Connecticut; and her beloved grandchildren; Robert (Bo) Normandin, III, Rodolphe (Rudy) Gauthier, III, Courtney Rose Normandin, and Corrie-Danielle Gauthier. All will miss her love, support, guidance, hugs, and kisses.

Through her years, she had graduated from high school as Valedictorian, was an accomplished drum majorette, Miss Great Lakes, an avid snow skier/instructor, and a champion Horseshoe Association competitor with her many friends at the Club Fleur-de-Lis in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts.

Also left behind, is her second family at the Hudson Kempo Karate studio. There she accomplished her Third Degree Black Belt and touched the lives of so many through instruction and cherished friendships.

She owned and operated "Picture this ... Custom Framing and Art Gallery" in Hudson for eight years then continued on to become a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, well on her way to becoming a nurse with compassion and respect for those in her care.

As she passes into the arms of Angels, know that she is and always will be loved and missed by so many whose lives she touched with kindness, selflessness, and inspiration.

In accordance with her wish to be remembered with celebration and fond memories, no formal services are planned. Instead, a memorial fund is being created in her name, to be presented to the new cancer wing at Yale University Hospital, Connecticut, where the doctors and staff went above and beyond to provide care, support, and encouragement.

Any and all contributions to the memorial will be gratefully accepted by her children or the Hudson Kempo Karate Studio.

Andrew J. Polak

Mr. Andrew J. Polak, 94, Hudson, died Tuesday, April 4 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

Born on November 22, 1911, in Ludlow, Massachusetts, the son of the late Simon and Theodora (Pacek) Polak. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1930 and later graduated from the FBI Academy in Washington, D. C. Mr. Polak was a longtime resident of Hudson.

He was the former Police Chief of Hudson, 1945 to 1972. Mr. Polak was very active in various state committees and was a State Legislator. He was also the Hillsborough County Deputy Sheriff.

Mr. Polak was a semi-professional wrestler. He had also worked at the former Gregg and Son Woodworking in Nashua. At one time he owned and operated a variety store in Hudson.

Mr. Polak belonged to the Hudson Fish and Game, Hudson Lions, and New Hampshire Police Chiefs Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was predeceased by his wife Stephanie “Stella” (Tomaszewska) Polak and his siblings, Genevieve Chrzanowski, Fred Polak, Phyllis Millina, Joseph Polak, and Viola Trombly.

Survivors include his two daughters, June Morin and her husband, Ronald, of Hudson, and Celia Polak of Nashua; a brother Frank Polak of Nashua; a sister Dorothy Boucher and her husband, Lionel, of Hudson; sister-in-law Emily Soltysiak of Hooksett; four grandchildren, Joseph Morin, John Morin, Kathy Morin, and Kimberly Pepin, all of Nashua; seven great-grandchildren, Trisha Morin, Joshua Pepin, Kristine Morin, John Morin, Adam Machado, Andrew Morin, and Bailey Morin, all of Nashua; one great step grandchild, Brittany Hession of Nashua; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours are at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Polak’s memory can be made to Home Health and Hospice Care, 22 Prospect Street, Nashua NH 03060.

William R. Edwards
William R. Edwards, 50, of Pelham, died Sunday morning at his home.

He was the husband of Donna L. (Horton) Edwards, with whom he recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on January 1.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, August 29, 1955, the son of Glennie M. (Boutwell) Edwards and the late Robert M. Edwards. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Pelham.

Mr. Edwards attended Pelham schools and was a graduate of Alvirne High School in the Class of 1973.

Most recently, Mr. Edwards was a heavy equipment mechanic for the MacIsh Corporation in Pelham where he had worked for over 30 years.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Andrew St. Gelais and Mark Edwards of Pelham; a sister, Glennis G. Guerin of Merrimack; two brothers, Robert S. Edwards and his wife, June, of Pelham, and Ralph S. Edwards and Jacqueline Murphy of Pelham; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His funeral service was held on Thursday, March 30 at the First Congregational Church of Pelham; burial was in the Gibson cemetery.

Those wishing may make contributions in his memory to W. Edwards Memorial Family Fund, Soverign Bank, P. O. Box 30, Pelham, NH 03076. Pelham Funeral Home was responsible for arrangements.

Ann (Mossey) Fraser
Ann (Mossey) Fraser, 75, of Hudson, died on Saturday, March 25 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born August 8, 1930, on Prince Edward Island in Canada, daughter of the late Peter and Annabelle (Ryan) Mossey.

Mrs. Fraser was the wife of the late Fred Fraser who died in 1973.

Mrs. Fraser was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. Ann was also a nurse and worked at various hospitals in the area including Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital, and then retired from the Hunt Community.

One of the greatest joys in Ann’s life was her family. She very much enjoyed spending time with all of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by all of them.

Besides her husband, Ann was predeceased by a sister, Adelle Kirouac.

Survivors include five sons and three daughters-in-law, Fred D. and Joann Fraser of Michigan; Peter and Susan Fraser of Hudson; and lan and Mona Fraser of Hampton, New Hampshire; Glen Fraser of Hudson; and David Fraser of Hudson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Maureen Fraser of Vermont; and Debra and Donald Kirouac of Candia, New Hampshire; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Mossey of Pepperell, Massachusetts, and George and Polly Mossey of Nashua; twenty grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 29, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. Burial was in St Patrick's cemetery. The Dumont - Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Rigg
Kenneth Rigg, 72, passed away in the afternoon hours of Monday, March 27 at the Lakes Region General Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on September 4, 1933, the son of the late William and Ruby (Morneau) Rigg. He attended Nashua schools, and later moved to Hudson. He was self-employed as a machinist, and worked for many years in Hudson before retiring. Upon his retirement, Kenneth moved to Colebrook, New Hampshire, and resided there for many years. He greatly enjoyed the views and serenity of his Blakely Farm Road Home, and was happy to be so close to the area’s natural beauty.

An avid outdoorsman, Kenneth enjoyed any time spent outdoors. He loved to hunt, and fish, and in the wintertime, he would often be off on his snow machine. He was also a very talented musician, and played various instruments to include the accordion, the harmonica and the organ, as well as the violin. At family gatherings, Kenneth would often play instruments while his nieces and nephews would sing.

He was a resident of Canaan, Vermont, briefly, and was most recently a resident of the Country Village Elder Care Center, in Lancaster.

He is survived by his brother, Arthur Rigg and his wife Lois of Peoria, Illinois; his nieces and nephews; Theresa Miller, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; Janine and her husband Gary Gilbert of Milan; Brenda Caldwell and her husband Don of Manchester, New Hampshire; Jolene Fasanella of New Jersey, Jeri Sosa and her husband Don of Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Steven Rigg of California; and Donald Rigg of Illinios.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as by a brother, Vincent W. Rigg on January 13, 1998, and by his sister-in-law, Ruth (Caldwell) Rigg on October 17, 1993.

Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday, March 31 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street in Berlin.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home.

Interment will be on Saturday, May 20 at 1 p.m. in the family lot at Evergreen cemetery in Nashua.

Paulina (Kolberer) Scott

Paulina (Kolberer) Scott, 96, of Hudson, died Wednesday, March 22, at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

Mrs. Scott was born February 3, 1910, in Arenzville, Illinois, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Seibert) Kolberer.

She was the widow of Verian J. Scott who died in 1986. She was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Scott was formerly a member of St. John the Evangelist Church Ladies Guild, Hudson Seniors, Nashua Seniors, AARP, and the Presentation of Mary Holy Hour Group.

Survivors include a daughter and a son-in-law, Bonita “Bonnie” and Warren Smith of Madison, Alabama; a granddaughter, Lisa Pinson of San Antonio, Texas; a step-daughter and a step son-in-law, Shirley and Paul O’Brian of Arlington, Massachusetts; as well as three step grandchildren, Barbara McCarthy, Mark O’Brian, and Jay O’Brian.

Services were held in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson with a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Hudson, and burial in St. Patrick cemetery, Hudson. Donations in Paulina’s memory may be made to either the Hudson Senior Building Fund, 5 Jackson Drive, Hudson, NH 03051 or Make a Wish Foundation of NH, 66 Hanover Street, Suite 101, Manchester, NH 03101.

Ronald R. ‘Whitey’ Boisvert

Ronald R. “Whitey” Boisvert, 68, died Friday March 3 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 18, 1938, in Manchester, son of the late Donat and Yvonne Boisvert. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Muguette Boisvert and Lilliane Boisvert.

Ron was the husband of Pauline (St. Cyr) Boisvert of Hudson.

He was an Air Force Veteran and from 1956 thru 1960 he was stationed in Korea, Japan, Hawaii, and Texas. He was a graduate of Suffolk University, Class of 1981.

Ron was an avid sports fan, as well as an author who had written a children’s book.

He worked for the Nashua Telegraph for 35 years, where he was known for the “Whitey Special.” He was the director of St. Vincent DePaul at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson, a member of the Hudson Lions Club, Member of the Knights of Columbus Council of 5162 in Hudson and formerly of Council 5163 when he resided in Manchester. He was the past director of RCIA at St. John Church and was instrumental in involving the Hudson Knights of Columbus and local businesses and schools in the Make A Difference Day program.

Mr. Boisvert was also involved in the Rainbow Seekers at St. John Church, as well as a member of Parents Advisory Council of the Visually Impaired.

He loved to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s school and recreational activities. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Besides his loving wife, Pauline, survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Jill Boisvert of Manchester, Pennsylvania, David Boisvert of Lee, New Hampshire, and Daniel and Alicia Boisvert of Manchester, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Briana and Kyle McLaughlin of Manchester, New Hampshire and Emily and Melody Boisvert of Manchester, Pennsylvania.. A mother-in-law, Gertrude (Duquette) St. Cyr of Milford, a sister-in--law, Denise Cedras of Milford, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 8 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson. Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery in Manchester. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.
