Joseph W. Frank, Jr.

Joseph W. Frank, Jr., 76, longtime Billerica, Massachusetts, resident, died Sunday morning, December 3, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 21, 1930, in Malden, Massachusetts, son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Brauner) Frank.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Dudinetz) Frank, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Mr. Frank was predeceased by his sister, Frances L. Miller.

He was a resident of Billerica for 40 years and was a U. S. Army Veteran. For many years he worked in the maintenance department of the Billerica schools. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

Besides his loving wife, survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Arthur Blake of Wareham, Massachusetts, Diana and Eugene Stahl, Jr., of Litchfield, Deborah and David Marshall of Hudson, and Donna and Michael Robinson of Lowell, Massachusetts; one son and a daughter-in-law, Joseph and Sherry Frank, III; also, 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Joseph’s loving memory to the Nashua Soup Kitchen, 42 Chestnut Street, Nashua, NH 03060. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James P. Leone

James P. Leone, 71, of Hudson and formerly of Newtonville, Massachusetts, died Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

He was born September 28, 1935, in Newton, Massachusetts, son of the late Vincenzo and Mary (Lombardi) Leone. He was a graduate of Newton High School.

Mr. Leone retired in 1993 after being a meat cutter for Star Market for 25 years in Newton. While living in Newton he was a communicant of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish. He moved to Hudson three years ago.

Survivors include his wife of nine years Florence (Strobl) Leone of Hudson, a son and daughter-in-law James and Tracy Leone of Pembroke, Massachusetts; a daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Thomas Connelly of Wayland, Massachusetts; two stepsons, Robert and his wife Doreen Gill of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Kenneth Gill of Manchester; a stepdaughter, Pamela and her husband Mark McNamara of Dracut, Massachusetts; two brothers and a sister in law Lawrence Leone of S. Dennis, Massachusetts., Daniel and Martha Leone of Waltham, Massachusetts; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Rockey Abbruzzie of Newton, six grandchildren, Jenna and Craig Connelly, both of Wayland; Elizabeth Leone of Auburn, Massachusetts, Brenda Leone, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, Ashley and Jamie Leone both of Pembroke, Massachusetts; six step-grandchildren Courtney, Robert, Ryan and Adam Gill all of Chelmsford, Lauren and Robert McNamara both of Dracut and a great step-grandchild Haillie Laycanu of Bradford, Massachusetts.

He was predeceased by his first wife Madeline (Ridenti) Leone; three brothers, Albert, Anthony, and Benjamin Leone; and a sister, Connie Cannistraro.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday in Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in Newton. Burial took place in Newton cemetery, Newton. Those wishing may make contributions in James’ loving memory, please consider the Society for PSP, Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Green Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ida (Landry) Scott

Ida (Landry) Scott, 84, of Mountain View Drive, Hudson, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at the Greenbriar Terrace Health Care Center in Nashua.

She was born April 26, 1922, in Hudson, daughter of the late Joseph and Bernadette (Belanger) Landry.

Mrs. Scott was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Scott, as well as by a daughter Elaine Christopher.

Ida was very active with St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Hudson Seniors and enjoyed taking trips with other seniors. Ida was an avid crafter and belonged to the Presentation of Mary Prayer Group.

Survivors include three daughters and sons in law, Claudia and Robert Engelmann of Orleans, Massachusetts, Susan and Donald Lavoie of Milford, and Robin and Gary J. Rodgers of Hudson; two brothers, Raymond Landry and George Landry, both of Hudson; three sisters, Bernadette Brodeur of Nashua, Lucille Gaudette of Londonderry, and Jeannette Sundstrom of Florida; as well as seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 8 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson. All to meet at church. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Ida’s loving memory to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson, NH 03051. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Bruce Benoit
Kenneth “Kenny” Bruce Benoit, 48, of Derry, died Sunday morning in Salem.

He was the husband of Andrea H. (Bates) Benoit with whom he celebrated his 21st wedding anniversary on May 18, 2006.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, November 23, 1958, the son of Bruce R. and Patricia A. (Maille) Benoit, he attended Pelham schools and was a graduate of Pelham High School’s Class of 1977.

Mr. Benoit spent most of his career as an auto body mechanic, most recently with A-1 Auto in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Among his many interests he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping cooking, and watching sports with family and friends.

Mr. Benoit was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Pelham.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Courtney M. Benoit of Derry; two brothers, Kevin J. Benoit and Dale L. Benoit, both of Pelham; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and his mother-in-law, Sandra Bates of Derry.

A Funeral Mass took place at St. Patrick Church in Pelham on Thursday, November 30. Committal services will be private. Those wishing may make contributions in his memory to the Heritage United Way, 228 Maple Street, Fourth Floor, Manchester, NH 03103. The Pelham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Leon Frances Malouin
Leon Frances Malouin, Jr., 77, of Lowell and formerly of Hudson, died at the Norwood Nursing Home in Lowell, Massachusetts, on November 22, 2006.

Mr. Malouin was born on April 15, 1929, in Nashua, son of the late Leon Frances and Barbara (Gardner) Malouin, Sr. He had been a resident of Hudson since 1952 and previously lived in Nashua.

He was the husband of Lena (Ducharme) Malouin, whom he married on June 28, 1952.

Mr. Malouin was a Hunter Safety Instructor for the State of New Hampshire for 25 years. He also was an executive for Flash Technology and Northeast Electronics in Concord. In the 1990s, he was a real estate agent for Century 21 One Step Realty.

Mr. Malouin was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hudson, American Legion Post #48, and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Hudson Fish and Game Club and a former officer of the New Hampshire Wildlife Federation. He also spoke five languages. Mr. Malouin was a selectman for the Town of Hudson for six years and served as chairman for four years. He also served on the town’s budget committee.

He was a Korean War and Vietnam Conflict veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Malouin was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He was a graduate of Nashua High School, Class of 1947. While in high school, Mr. Malouin played right guard on the Nashua High School championship football team in 1946 and traveled to Florida with that team. He also attended seminary at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Connecticut, St. Mary’s in Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland, and then joined the U. S. Army. While in the Army, he attended General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth and Sophia University in Tokyo. He also attended the North American School of Conservation and received a degree in forestry. Mr. Malouin received a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Omaha and master’s of business administration at Rivier College in Nashua.

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson.

Mr. Malouin was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Ernest Cutting and Roger Bibeau and a sister-in-law, Mary Malouin.

In addition to his wife Lena of 44 years, survivors include his son, Richard E. “Rick” Malouin of Hudson; two daughters Desiree Malouin of Hudson, and Michelle Lisowski and her husband Lawrence of Windham; his grandchildren, Victoria Malouin and her husband Jason Whitney of Derry, Mackenzie Malouin of California, Nicholas Malouin of Merrimack, Linsey Malouin of Hudson, Alexander, Christopher, and Rebecca Lisowski all of Windham; his great-granddaughter, Mae Ellen Smith of Derry; his brothers and sisters, Natalie Bibeau of Nashua, Justin Cutting of Sunapee, Barbara Dionne and her husband Roger of Nashua, Richard G. Malouin of Nashua, Jan and Virginia Malouin of Pepperell, Massachusetts; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter Ducharme, Jr., Londonderry, Gene and Lucille Ducharme of Litchfield, Doris Ducharme of Hudson, Sylvia Ducharme and her husband Roland Guerette of Hudson, Joan and Richard Tate of Hudson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson on Tuesday, November 28. Following cremation, interment prayers and burial will be held in St. Patrick cemetery, Hudson at the convenience of the family. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to United Spinal Association (PVA/EPVA), 19 Stoney Brook Drive, Wilton, NH 03086 or Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements were in the care of locally owned Davis Funeral Home in Nashua.

Joseph A. Sarno
Joseph A. Sarno, 70, of Hudson, died Thursday, November 16, 2006, in Fort Myers, Florida.

He was born November 17, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Sarno.

Mr. Sarno was the husband of Elizabeth (Bachelder) Sarno of Hudson, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and received a master’s degree in engineering and mathematics from Northeastern University.

Mr. Sarno retired from Raytheon as an engineer. Throughout his life he also held the position of financial advisor and college professor in math and finance. He was an active parishioner of St. Kathryn Church where he also taught Sunday school. He was a Boy Scout troop leader and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to canoe and camp with family. Mr. Sarno also enjoyed playing golf.

Besides his loving wife, survivors include six children; Robert Sarno and his wife, Karen, of Hudson; Anthony Sarno of Seattle, Washington; Mary Almeida and her husband, Kevin, of Deerfield; Laura Cote and her husband, Alex, of Deerfield; Eric Sarno and his wife, Cathleen, of Hudson; Gilbert Sarno and his wife, Kathy, of Londonderry; also 12 grandchildren, Angela Sarno, Kayla Sarno, Shaela Sarno, Anthony Sarno, Jr., Rebecca Sarno, Erica Almeida, Joseph Almeida, Ryan Gauthier, Garrett Gauthier, Lisa Cote, Alex Cote, Jr., and Nicole Sarno.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, November 28 at St. Kathryn Church in Hudson. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine R. Higgins

Lorraine R. Higgins, 67, of Merrimack died Friday, November 10, 2006, at her residence after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born May 30, 1939, in Lowell, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of Harry E. and Rena (Rondeau) Ayotte. She was raised and educated in the Lowell area, and lived there prior to moving to Merrimack in 1965.

Lorraine was an Avon representative for more than 30 years in the Merrimack area. She had built a strong following of customers in southern New Hampshire, and considered them her extended family.

Mrs. Higgins was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church of Merrimack. She enjoyed her involvement with the Avon Company and the many opportunities it gave her for travel and interaction with other representatives of the company. Lorraine’s greatest love was her family and she cherished the time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and many friends.

In her life: members of the family include her loving husband of 47 years, Jack Z. Higgins, Sr., of Merrimack, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack Z. Higgins, Jr., of Berlin, Erik J. and Samantha Higgins of Mayesville, South Carolina, and Jason A. and Dori Higgins of Merrimack; five grandchildren, Joshua, Ryan, Daniel, Valerie and Brady Higgins; one brother, Harry J. Ayotte and his wife Jacquelyn of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts; and one sister, Carol Grady of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated Wednesday, November 14 at St. John Neumann Church in Merrimack. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Home Health and Hospice, 22 Prospect Street Nashua, NH 03060.

The George R. Rivet Funeral Home of Merrimack was in charge of arrangements.

Pearl May (Sargent) Murphy
Pearl May (Sargent) Murphy, 78, of Nashua, died on Sunday, November 12, 2006, at the Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare Facility in Nashua.

Pearl was born on May 29, 1928, in Wilmington, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Albert and Esther (Burrett) Sargent.

Mrs. Murphy was the wife of the late Alfred H. Murphy.

Pearl was deeply loved and cared for by friends and employees at the Greenbriar.

Survivors include a son, Vincent V. Nardone of Connecticut.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. Burial was in Wildwood cemetery in Wilmington, Massachusetts. The Dumont - Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Ronald E. Blattenberger, Sr.
Ronald E. Blattenberger, Sr., 69, died October 30, 2006, at Maine Medical Center. He was a longtime resident of Windham and most recently resided in Branford, Florida, and South Portland, Maine.

Ronald was born and educated in New Florence, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Elmer and Laura (Dewitt) Blattenberger. He served in the Air Force after graduating from Ferndale High School. Ronald was employed as an electrical engineer for Raytheon Company in Andover, Massachusetts, for 37years before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and water sports. He was a member of the Arlington Club in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and the Playboy Bowling League in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Ronald enjoyed spending time with his family playing cards and board games.

He was predeceased by his siblings Wayne Blattenberger and Loretta Noble.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn (Fay) Blattenberger; his children, Ronald, Jr., and his wife Julie of Kingston, Rhonda and her husband Chuck Johns of South Portland, Rosemary and her husband Mark Cerri of Derry, Robin and her husband Al Bean of Buckston, Maine, and Richard and his wife Renee of Windham, his twin brother, Roy, of Florida, brothers Gilbert of New Hampshire, John of Massachusetts, and Blaine of Pennsylvania; a sister, Mary Wagner of New Hampshire, 22 grandchildren, one great grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, November 4 at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home in Salem. Donations in Ronald’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110 or the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
