Dennis E. Jacques

Dennis E. Jacques, 63, of Hudson, died Monday, October 9, 2006 after a ten and a half year battle with heart disease at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born September 7, 1943 in Somerville, Massachusetts, son of the late James Jacques and Izalee (Parks) Jacques.

Mr. Jacques was the husband of Yvonne “Bonnie” (Crosier) Jacques of Hudson and together shared 41 loving years of marriage.

Dennis served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion, Post 2 in Manchester.

Mr. Jacques was also a member of the Elks, Lodge #720 in Nashua. While there he served as an Inner Guard from 1999 – 2000 and in 2001 – 2002 was named “Elk of the Year.” Dennis and his friend, Skip Jacques, until last year, ran the canteen at the Elks Red Cross Blood Drive and for eight years made chili and chop suey for blood donors.

Dennis was an avid hunter and was proud of his 28 deer during his hunting career. He often said that he left all the deer on Bush Hill Road for others to hunt.

One of his greatest joys in life was his grandchildren. He loved to take them fishing, camping, and numerous trips to Disney World. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacques was predeceased by a son Kevin Lee Jacques who died in 1967.

Besides his loving wife Yvonne, survivors include one son and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Cathy Handy of St. Johnsbury, Vermont; a daughter and a son-in-law, Aileen and Liam Urbach of Hudson; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Richard and Kim Jacques of Putney, Vermont, and Donald and Bonnie Jacques of Enfield; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Brian Rutherford of White River Junction, Vermont, Sharon and John Foley of Orlando, Florida, Patricia and Norman Daigneault of Canaan, and Sheila Lancey of Orlando; Yvonne’s three sisters and their husbands, Ramona and Donald Allaire of Hyde Park, Vermont, Evelyn and Merle Jones of Waterford, Vermont, and Marilyn and Raymond Guyer of Lyndonville, Vermont; two very special grandchildren, Bailey and Connor Urbach of Hudson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial took place on Friday, October 13, at 2 at the Lyndon Center cemetery in Lyndonville, Vermont. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Dennis’s loving memory to either the Nashua Emblem Club #170, PO Box 113, Nashua, NH 03061, or to the NH State Association of the Emblem Club Scholarship Fund, Attn: Scholarship Chairman Sandy Jones, 568 Monadnock Highway, East Swanzey, NH 03446. The Dumont - Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Patricia Louise Morrison

Patricia Louise Morrison, 72, of Hudson, died Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Nashua.

She was born August 30, 1934, in Medford, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (MacEachern) Beaton.

Patricia was the wife of Hugh Morrison, Jr., of Hudson, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.

She enjoyed wintering in Florida as well as traveling to various places, including Europe. She was at one time very active in the St. John’s Colonial Girls Fife and Drum Corp. in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her loving husband, survivors include one son and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sandra Morrison of Oxford, Massachusetts. Four daughters and four sons-in-law, Theresa and James Lane of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Joanne and Christopher Poole of Pelham, Carol and Michael MacMillan of Salem, and Maryellen and Michael Berry of Chelmsford; seven grandchildren, Andrew Morrison and Alyssa Morrison both of Oxford, Gerald Lane of Fitchburg, Kaylee Poole of Pelham, Lauren MacMillan and Jason MacMillan both of Salem, and Michael Berry of Chelmsford; as well as very dear friends Arlene and Paul Bourque of Chelmsford.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson. All may meet at church. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 13 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Hudson. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Lucy K. (Piwowarski) Pettyjohn
Lucy K. (Piwowarski) Pettyjohn, 55, of Litchfield, formerly of Nashua and Fairborn, Ohio, died at her Litchfield home on Monday, October 9, 2006.

Mrs. Pettyjohn was born in Nashua on October 15, 1950, a daughter of Jennie (Kulas) Piwowarski and the late Carrol Piwowarski.

She was the wife of Michael E. Pettyjohn, whom she married on December 2, 1978.

Mrs. Pettyjohn was at one time a costumer for the Indianapolis Reparatory Theatre.

She was a member of the Litchfield Women’s Club and edited the Litchfield Newcomers Guide for them. She was also a member of the Litchfield Police Activities Committee and the National Women’s Heart Association. She loved cats and enjoyed arts and crafts.

Mrs. Pettyjohn was a United State Air Force veteran during peacetime and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

In addition to her husband of 27 years and her mother, Mrs. Pettyjohn is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Frances Billings of Nashua and Cecelia Seipp and her husband Charles of Denver, Colorado; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Patricia Dickey and her husband Steven of Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, internment will be private. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider: WomenHeart, the National Coalition of Women with Heart Disease, 818 18th Street, NW, Suite 930, Washington, DC 20006, or Bedford Animal Shelter and Hospital, 33 Old Bedford Road, Bedford, NH 03110. Arrangements were in the care of Davis Funeral Home in Nashua.

Elizabeth K. (Cibene) Ryon

Elizabeth K. (Cibene) Ryon, 64, of Hudson, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, at her residence.

Elizabeth was born on January 27, 1942, in Brookline, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Dominic and Eunice (Watson) Cibene.

Mrs. Ryon was the wife of the late Joseph Ryon who died in 1988.

Elizabeth adored her grandchildren and considered it one of her greatest joys in life to spend time with them.

Besides her husband, Elizabeth was predeceased by one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Gerald Lindl of Merrimack, and Elizabeth and Franco Torrey of Nashua; five very dear grandchildren, Gretchen Truax of Merrimack, Gerilynn Lindl of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Micheal, Jacob, and Paul Torrey all of Nashua; and one precious great granddaughter, Rachel Truax of Merrimack.

All funeral services will be private at Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested in Elizabeth’s loving memory that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110. The Dumont – Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Leighton Alfred Drown
Leighton Alfred Drown, 81, of Hudson died Wednesday, September 20 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

Mr. Drown was born in Alfred, Maine on October 2, 1924, a son of the late Lawrence and Marie (Stevens) Drown. He was a resident of Hudson since 1998, and previously lived in Lyman, Maine.

He was the husband of Katherine Jo (Taylor) Drown whom he married on June 1, 1946.

Mr. Drown was an industrial engineer for Raytheon Company in Lowell, Massachusetts, for 33 years. He also worked for the Saco Lowell Shops in Biddeford, Maine, for 14 years.

At one time, he was a member and past master of Alewive Grange of Kennebunk, Maine, and Arion Lodge #162 AF & AM of Goodwins Mills, Maine. Mr. Drown was active in York Rites Bodies in Masonry. In 1999, the York Rite Festival Class was named in his honor.

Mr. Drown was a member and Past High Priest of Meridian Sun Chapter 9 of Nashua, a member and Past Illustrious Master of Israel Hunt Council 8 of Nashua, and a member and Past Commander of St. George Commander 8 of Nashua and served as recorder for the above bodies.

Mr. Drown was active in the State York Rite Bodies, Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of New Hampshire, and Past Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of New Hampshire. He also was a member of new Hampshire Priory #58 KYCH, Granite State Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, and Palenstine Tabernacle #41 HRAKTP and served as recorder and headed the above organizations.

Mr. Drown was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Kennebunk High School, Class of 1942. Mr. Drown was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Dorance and Hollis Drown.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Katherine Jo, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Elizabeth Drown of Springville, Utah, and Peter Keith and Joyce Drown of Nashua; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Jo and Edward Card of Nashua; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister, Ardath Gray of Lyman, Maine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service was held at the First Baptist Church of Hudson on September 25; internment prayers and burial followed at the Hills Farms cemetery in Hudson. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider: Helping Hand Fund, c/o First Baptist Church of Hudson, 236 Central Street, Hudson, NH 03051. The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Gagne
Robert Gagne, 83, of Hudson, died Monday morning, September 25, 2006 at his home following a brief illness.

Mr. Gagne was born July 17, 1923 in Nashua, son of the late William and Zepherine (Malhoit) Gagne and was a lifetime resident of Hudson.

He was the husband of Norma (Greenleaf) Gagne of Hudson, which he shared 59 years of marriage.

Mr. Gagne entered the U. S. Army in 1943. He served during World War II, in Battery B, 83rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion and received awards including the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Distinguished Unit Badge.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post #48 in Hudson.

Mr. Gagne owned and operated Willard’s Radiator Shop in Hudson from 1955 until his retirement in 1985.

Mr. Gagne was predeceased by three brothers, William Gagne, Louis Gagne, and Raymond Gagne.

Besides his devoted wife, survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen R. Gagne, Timothy W. and Linda Gagne, all of Hudson; three grandchildren, Emily J. Gagne Fitch and her husband James, Jane K. Gagne, and Beau C. Gagne all of Hudson; two great grandchildren, Jaylin M. Enright and Kaven J. Fitch, both of Hudson; also a sister, Theresa Blow of Plattsburg, New York, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

All services were private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Robert’s loving memory to Souhegan Home and Hospice Care, 4 Bud Way, Suite 2, Nashua, NH 03063. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

David Turmel

David Turmel, 55, of Hillsboro, died Monday, September 18 in Deering.

Born June 1, 1951, in Nashua, son of the late Maurice and Pearl (Archambault) Turmel. He was also predeceased by a brother, Gary Turmel.

David loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Londonderry Fish and Game Club. He was also a member of the Halcyon Club in Derry. His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter, Sarah.

Survivors include a son and a daughter-in-law, Jason and Hillary Turmel, a granddaughter Sarah Turmel, all of Northwood. Three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Moe and Nancie Turmel of Raymond, Bruce and Rosie Turmel of Nashua, and Scott Turmel of Empire, Ohio. As well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in David’s loving memory to the Make A Wish Foundation, 66 Hanover St., Manchester, NH 03101.

Annie (Gove) Davis
Annie (Gove) Davis, 88, of Hudson, died Saturday, September 16 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

She was born January 9, 1918, in Perry, Maine, daughter of the late Jacob and Florence (Taylor) Gove.

Mrs. Davis was the widow of Paul Davis, who after sharing 58 years of marriage, died in April of 2006.

Annie was a World War II Army Veteran who will be greatly missed by her family.

Survivors include one son, Lloyd Davis of Lunenburg, Massachusetts; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Raymond Fair of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and Paula and Jerry Dawson of Lunenburg; three grandchildren, Christopher Fair, Catherine Fair and Meagan Fair, and one great-grandchild, Austin Lee Fair, all of Hopkinton.

The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.
