Edward ‘Ed’ Cook
Edward “Ed” Cook, 75, of Hudson, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, in the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

He was born March 14, 1932, in Lowell, Massachusetts, son of the late James, Sr., and Lillian (Rogers) Cook. Ed was also predeceased by two brothers, Gerald Cook and James Cook, Jr., and a sister, Theresa Nevans.

Ed was the husband of Francine (Fitzgerald) Cook of Hudson.

Mr. Cook was employed with Stop & Shop for 47 years where he held the positions of Assistant Manager and Shop Steward. He was a Golden Gloves boxer in Lowell as well as a Knock Out Time Keeper. He enjoyed collecting boxing memorabilia and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his loving wife survivors include a daughter, Nadine Lounsbury of Hudson; a son, Montgomery Cook of Lowell; a stepson, Robert Blanchette and his wife Natalie of Middleton, Massachusetts; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Elliot and her husband John of Lynn, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Nathan Lounsbury and Amanda Newman both of Hudson; a step-grandson, Michael Baker of Lynn, Massachusetts; and a sister, Helene Robinson of Derry; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 20, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. Burial was in St. Patrick cemetery in Hudson. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

William ‘Bill’ Cyr
William “Bill” Cyr, 66, of Litchfield, died Thursday June 14, 2007, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

He was born April 21, 1941, in Lowell, Massachusetts, son of the late Alfred and Gabrille (Laplante) Cyr. He was also predeceased by a brother; Alfred Cyr, Jr.

Bill was the husband of Sandra (Bergeron) Cyr of Litchfield.

He was previously employed as a barber and later retired from Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool.

Besides his loving wife, survivors include a son, Clinton Cyr of Litchfield; a brother and a sister-in-law, Raymond and Brenda Cyr of Dracut, Massachusetts; and a sister, Carol Cyr of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visiting Hours were held on Tuesday, June 19 in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Bill’s loving memory to the Greater Derry Humane Society, 57 Lawrence Road, Derry, NH 03038.

Kimberly Gosselin
Kimberly (Arsenault) Gosselin, 27, of Hudson, died unexpectedly Friday, May 31, 2007 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, August 14, 1979. Kimberly graduated from Alvirne High School. She enjoyed traveling and had a passionate love for dolphins. She was a loving mother and wife and will be missed for an eternity by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband Jeffrey Gosselin of Hudson, a son, Ethan Gosselin of Hudson; a daughter, Kayla Bausha of Hudson; her father, William Arsenault of Manchester; a brother, Christopher Arsenault of Hudson; and a sister, Michelle LaMarche of Manchester along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private funeral and burial service was held at the convenience of the family. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn A. Hughes
Evelyn A. Hughes, 76, a 30-year resident of Pelham, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at her home.

Born in Utica, New York, May 5, 1931, the daughter of the late John W. and the late Edna (Philkins) Hughes, she attended Clinton, New York, schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School in the Class of 1949. She went on to attend Business College in Utica.

Before retiring due to illness, she was the executive secretary to the business manager of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Previously, she was the secretary at the Ruggles Street Baptist Church in Boston, Massachusetts.

Miss Hughes is survived by a dear friend Arlene King and Arlene's family, Courtney King, Cori King of Nashua, Ashley Kovach of Madison, Indiana, and Kristi McClellan of Barrington, and her pet cat Muffin.

At her request, all her funeral services were held privately.

Obituary – Elaine D. Malette
Elaine Dorothy Malette, 81, of Nashua and widow of Oscar L. Malette, Jr., died Wednesday June 6, 2007 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack. The daughter of the late Mildred Reardon, she was born in Nashua on October 16, 1925.

Mrs. Malette was employed as a receptionist at the law firm of Winer and Bennett for several years until her retirement in 1990. She previously had been employed with Bank of New Hampshire as head teller and interim manager. Educated in Nashua Schools, she graduated from Nashua High with the class of 1943 and furthered her education by taking courses at Nashua Business College, Daniel Webster College, and the American Institute of Banking.

She married Oscar L. Malette, Jr. in 1945 and they resided in Reed’s Ferry for a number of years. Mr. Malette died in 1970 during their 25th year of a happy marriage. She loved the ocean and spent many summer vacations on the Maine coast, but most of all she loved her family.

Members of her family include four daughters and a son-in-law, Sandi and Glenn Blanchard of Hudson, Debby Malette and Leslie B. Risch of Wallingford, Vermont, Wendy Malette and Karen Lapio of Wells, Maine and Fort Myers, Florida, and Amy Malette and Sheila Fraine of Berwick, Maine; a granddaughter, Amy Blanchard Chenette and her husband John of Nashua; two great-granddaughters, Lauren and Taylor Chenette of Nashua, who brought her great joy. She was also loved by Sasha and Talia Fraine.

A Memorial mass and a celebration of her life will by held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Baboosic Lake Road, in Merrimack on Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The Interment will be private and there will be no calling hours. Those wishing to express their sympathy may make memorial contributions to Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, New Hampshire 03054. Arrangements are in the Farwell Funeral Service of Nashua.

Ronald Moore
Ronald Moore, 44, of Hudson, died Friday June 1, 2007, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center from injuries sustained in an accident.

Born in Pasadena, California, January 10, 1963, he was the son of Ruth (Kierce) Moore of Troy, Virginia and the late Robert A. Moore. Mr. Moore enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and playing pool. He had been self employed as a carpenter.

Besides his mother survivors include two daughters Amanda Moore and Sarah Moore of Nashua, a brother and sister-in-law Robert and Denise Moore of Merrimack and three sisters and two brothers-in-laws, Rita Moore of Hudson, Roselyn and Jeffrey Kay of Bethesda, Maryland and Rebecca and Michael LeBlanc of Troy, Virginia.

A Graveside Service will be held in St. Patrick cemetery, Derry Road, Hudson on Saturday, June 9 at 9 a.m. All are to meet at the cemetery. Donations may be made to the Ronald Moore Children’s Memorial Fund, c/o TD Banknorth NH, P. O. Box 600, Manchester, NH 03105-9986. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Philip Nicolas
Philip Nicolas, 72, of Hudson, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at his home after a short illness.

He was born in Roum, Lebanon, August 30, 1934, son of the late Kamel and Nabiha (Assaf) Nicolas. He was the widower of Susan (Bistany) Nicolas.

Mr. Nicolas at one time was a French teacher in Egypt before coming to the United States in 1963. When he arrived in the United States, he worked in the Banking Industry in New York City, where he learned computers and became a computer analyst for the Franklin Bank. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.

Survivors include a sister Marguerite Bistany of Hudson; a niece Patricia Beatty of Westwood, Massachusetts; a nephew, Bernard Nicolas of California; and a brother-in-law, Roy Bistany of Methuen, Massachusetts; along with several other nieces and nephews.

A prayer service was held Tuesday in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson. Donations may be sent to the Salvation Army, 1 Montgomery Avenue, Nashua, NH 03060.

David A. Reitan
David Arnold Reitan, 77, of Hudson, died at home, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, May 29, 2007 after a long illness.

Born October 30, 1929 in New London, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Carl F. and Evelyn C. (Livdahl) Reitan. He spent his early life in New London, later moving to Maynard, Minnesota, where he graduated from Maynard High School. He was active in football and other sports programs throughout his high school years. He came to New England when he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, in the ASA (Army Security Agency) until his medical discharge in l953. Here he met his wife of 54 years, Connie Paton and remained in New Hampshire. He spent his entire life in the shoe industry, first as a foreman for J. F. McElwain Co. in Nashua for 23 years until they closed, later at Scottie Shoe in Hudson and last at Lowell Shoe Co. in Hudson where he retired in l996. He also spent most of his life working as a farmer, at a young age in Minnesota and later at his residence in Hudson, Paton Farm. He had a tremendous love of the earth, nature and animals and gardening. Other hobbies include archeology, antique collecting, crossword puzzles, and traveling. He loved his local sports teams, the Red Sox, Patriots, and the Nashua Pride. He was a great craftsman and woodworker and created many fun treasures for his family to cherish. Dave was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteers as well as the Hudson Seniors where he and his wife enjoyed taking trips and attending many social events. He will forever be remembered as a quiet, kind, loving giant of a man with a unique sense of humor, and a devoted family man and loving husband.

Besides his wife survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Ronald Gagnon of Hudson, Kathryn and Robert Gagnon of Litchfield, Debra and Craig Larouche of Hudson; a daughter-in-law Michelle Reitan of Taichung, Taiwan; a brother, John Reitan of Roseville, Minnesota; a half-brother, Glen Spletter and his wife Amy of Arizona; a sister Joyce Knutson Fridely, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Joseph Gagnon and Mandy Larouche of Hudson, and Heather, Tyrel and Curtis Gagnon of Litchfield; as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins

He was predeceased by a son, David Allen, a brother Carlton Reitan and his stepfather Ewald Spletter.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 2 – 5 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson with a Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Souhegan Home and Hospice Care, 4 Budway, Suite 2, Nashua, NH 03063.

Henry Rousseau
Henry Rousseau, 89, of Litchfield, died Sunday June 24, 2007, at his residence in Litchfield, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 20, 1918, in Lynn, Massachusetts, son of the late Charles and Eva (Adrien) Rousseau. He was also predeceased by a brother; George Rousseau.

Henry was the husband of Marie (Gallien) Rousseau of Litchfield, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this coming September.

He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was a past Commander of the Post 345 American Legion in Lynn.

Henry was employed by H. B. Hood in Charlestown, Massachusetts, for over 25 years. He was an inventor and wood carver who always enjoyed working with his hands. He was a devote catholic who was a parishioner of St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, where he loved to attend mass.

Besides his loving wife Marie, survivors include a son and his wife, Jeffery and Cheryl Rousseau of Windham; a daughter, Linda Luciano of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Cory Rousseau, Jessica Rousseau, and Daniel Rousseau all of Windham, Justin Luciano of Salem, and Melanie Stephen of Windham; as well as one great granddaughter on the way.

Visiting Hours were held in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Homein Hudson with a Funeral Mass in St. Kathryn’s Church in Hudson. Burial was in cemetery on the Plain in Windham. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made in Henry’s loving memory to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054.

Henri ‘Eddie’ Zannoni
Henri “Eddie” Zannoni, age 88, of Pelham, died Monday, May 28, 2007 evening at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. He was the husband of Caroline R. (Bowley) Zannoni of Pelham with whom he has been married to for 60 years.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, September 6, 1918, the son of the late Egisto and the late Theresa (Zammarchi) Zannoni, he attended Lowell Schools and also Lowell High School.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Sergeant. He received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze stars, Efficiency Honor, Fidelity (Good Conduct Medal), and the World War II Freedom Medal. Mr. Zannoni was issued the China War Memorial Medal by the Republic of China and was eligible for the Silver Cloud Medal issued by People’s Republic of China. He served with the original Flying Tigers of the American Volunteer Group (AVG) under the command of General Claire Chennault. Mr. Zannoni was with the first 19 men who were assigned to relieve the AVGs before the original Flying Tigers were inducted into the Army Air Corps.

Before retiring, he was a plant engineer at P. J. Keating in Dracut, Massachusetts, for over 50 years.

He was a founding member of the National Air and Space Society at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C and a charter member of the American Legion Post 100 in Pelham, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Pelham and a lifetime member of the CBI Hump Pilots Association. He was also a charter member of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, the Flying Tigers Association, China-Burma-India Veterans Association, the 23rd Fighter Group - 74th Fighter Squadron and also the 490th Bomb Squadron and the 341st Bomb Group.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters Donna Zannoni of Londonderry, Theresa Torre and her husband Frank of Londonderry, Noreen Heffner and her husband Thomas of Sykesville, Maryland, and Caroline Sturtevant of Maine; three sons Henri E. Zannoni, Jr., of Pelham, Paul T. Zannoni and his wife Patricia Ann of Pelham and Joseph V. Zannoni of Pelham; 19 grandchildren Kelly Lee and her husband Shannon of Fryburg, Maine, Kerry D’Orio and her husband Brendt of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Heather Torre of Charlotte, North Carolina, Theresa Vann and her husband Shane of Standardsville, Virginia, Dane Hoover and his wife Tracy of Salem, Noreen Collins and her husband David of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Thomas Heffner, Jr., and his wife Sigrid of Ellicott City, Maryland, E. J. Silva of Manchester, Christine Silva of Dracut, Debbie Zannoni of Pace, Florica, April Newcomb of Maine, Darren Sturtevant of Maine, Michael Sturtevant of Maine, Mathew Zannoni of Pelham, Kira Zannoni of Pelham, Ryan Zannoni of Pelham, Katelynn Zannoni of Pelham, Joseph Zannoni, Jr., of Windham, and Sarah Zannoni of Windham; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister Virginia Burk of St. Petes Beach, Florida; a brother Terrence “Jr” Zannoni of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Zannoni was also father of the late Deborah Zannoni and brother of the late Paul Zannoni, the late Anita Normandin, the late Lena Faticanti and the late Nora Kane.

His funeral will take place from the Pelham Funeral Home on Friday, June 1 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church in Pelham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery in Londonderry.

Carmelita (Von Dette) Beaulieu
Carmelita (Von Dette) Beaulieu, 66, of Hudson died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 21, 1940 in Rutland, Vermont, daughter of Genevieve (Kurant) Von Dette of Nashua and the late Bernerd Von Dette.

Carmelita was the wife of the late Rene Beaulieu who died in February of 2006. Prior to his death they had celebrated 44 years of marriage.

She was employed by the Hudson School System for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed teaching, bird watching, and reading. Her greatest joy came when spending time with family and friends, especially her four grandchildren.

Besides her loving mother survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Madelene Beaulieu of Brookline, and David and Michelle Beaulieu of Hinsdale, Illinois; four grandchildren, Genevieve Beaulieu and Maxmillion Beaulieu both of Brookline, and Sophie Beaulieu and Nicholas Beaulieu both of Hinsdale; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Bernie Von Dette of Indiana, Thomas and Maureen Von Dette of Hillsborough, and Daniel Von Dette of Hollis; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Maxine Dumont, Andrea and John Shannon all of Merrimack, and Mary Smith of Hudson; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 18 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hudson. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family encourages that donations be made to Hills Garrison School Book Fund, 190 Derry Road, Hudson, NH 03051. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.
