George L. Ahearn
George L. Ahearn, age 83, a resident of Hudson for 47 years, died Thursday, May 10, at home, following a lengthy illness.

He was the husband of Hope M. (Roberts) (DeBow) Ahearn, with whom he celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on October 26, 2006 and the late Vivian M. (Scott) Ahearn, who died in 1982.

Born in Lowell on April 23, 1924, he was the son of the late George J. and Mary (Hendricks) Ahearn.

Mr. Ahearn was raised in Lowell and attended Lowell schools. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Prior to his honorable discharge in 1946, Mr. Ahearn served with the HQ & HQS Detachment (Mars Task Force), 40th Military Police and previously served in the China Burma India Theater as a horseshoer.

Mr. Ahearn was awarded several decorations and citations including the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star Medal.

Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed as a plastics extruder by the Wire & Cable Division of the General Electric Company in Lowell, where he worked for 34 years. In addition, he worked as a local Blacksmith and Ferrier serving many greater Lowell and Southern New Hampshire horse owners.

Mr. Ahearn was a member of the Merrill’s Marauders Association, the Hudson, NH V.F.W. Post # 5791 and a life member of the Hudson, NH American Legion.

According to his family, he enjoyed tinkering with motors, solving crossword puzzles, woodworking, gardening, swimming, hunting and riding his Indian motorcycle to work.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Greg M. Ahearn and his wife Claire of Nashua, George S. Ahearn and his wife Helen of Hudson, Brian E. Ahearn and his wife Michelle of Merrimack, and Jason DeBow and his wife Mary Grace of Nashua; one daughter, Nona Kennedy and her husband Ted of Pueblo West, Colorado; one sister, Mary Ahearn of Pelham, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ahearn was the brother of the late Leona Russell, Lillian Desilets, Evelyn Winters, Joseph, John and Raymond Ahearn.

Funeral arraignments were handled by the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Memorial contributions to the Hudson V.F.W., 15 Bockes Rd., Hudson, NH 03051 are suggested.

Luis C. Borges
Luis C. Borges, 38, of Litchfield, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 3, 1969 in Angola, Africa, son of Marcolino and Maria (Arruda) Borges of Litchfield.

Mr. Borges was the husband of Erin (Noonan) of Litchfield.

Luis was employed for five years with MBCR in Boston. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast who loved to work with his hands, especially creating things. Whether it was working on cars or working in the yard, he enjoyed keeping busy. He loved to spend time with his family, especially with his daughter and his parents.

Besides his loving wife and dear parents survivors include a daughter, Alexandra Kate Borges of Litchfield; a brother; Paulo A. Borges of Tampa, Florida, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Funeral Service took place on Thursday, May 17 in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson with burial in St. Patrick cemetery in Hudson.

Stephen B. Howard
Stephen B. Howard, 64, of Litchfield, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at his residence.

He was born June 18, 1942 in Peterborough, son of the late Ambrose and Marjorie (Wright) Howard.

Stephen was the husband of Andrea (Berube) Howard of Litchfield, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

He was employed by MetLife and Boston Mutual as an insurance salesman for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his loving wife Andrea, survivors include a son and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Jeanne Howard; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer Howard and her partner Jodi Chunis, and Stephanie and Serge Cormier; five grandchildren, Stephen, Joshua, Amanda, Kimberly, and Camden; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gregory and Ingrid Howard of Wilton, and Timothy Howard of Nashua; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visiting Hours were held in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson followed by a Prayer Service in the funeral home. Burial was in St. Louis cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made in Stephen’s loving memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, NH Branch, 175 Ammon Street, Manchester, NH 03103.

Donald Emery Noel
Donald Emery Noel, 55 of Goffstown, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

He was born September 4, 1951, in Nashua, son of Normand Noel and stepson of Myrtle Noel of Hooksett, and the son of the late Lillian (Desmarais) Noel who died in 1988. A brother, Paul Noel, also predeceased him.

Don owned and operated Mill Pond Cabinets in Derry for many years. He was an avid bow hunter and fly fisherman who enjoyed painting and photography. He loved music and was able to play several instruments. He had a great sense of humor that was enjoyed by all who knew him. Don was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor in need.

Besides his father and stepmother, survivors include his fiancé, Cathy Pottle of Goffstown; a son, Emery Noel, and his fiancée Colleen Canty of Kalispell, Montana; a daughter, Melanie Noel of Kalispell; a stepdaughter, Shanna Pottle of Goffstown; a grandson, River Noel of Kalispell; a brother, William Noel of Nashua; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and John Johansen of Troy; a sister-in-law, Sharon Noel of Hudson; as well as several aunts, a niece and several nephews.

Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, 1835 RW Berends Street, SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49519. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara J. (Malolepszy) Kanclerowicz
Barbara J. (Malolepszy) Kanclerowicz, 72, a retired Telephone Company employee, died Saturday April 21, 2007, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack where she had been receiving supportive care.

Born and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Regina J. (Michalski) Malolepszy. She attended local schools there and was graduated from Chelsea High School. She married Henry J. Kanclerowicz during the 50s and settled in Peabody, Massachusetts, where together they raised their four children. Barbara worked outside of the home for New England Telephone as a Business Office Manager. She retired several years ago and shortly after the passing of her beloved husband she moved to Hudson to take residence with her daughter and family.

She is survived by her beloved children and their spouses; Andrea Perreault and her husband Adam of Hudson, Stephen J. Kanclerowicz and his wife Stacey of San Antonio, Texas, Michael J. Kanclerowicz of Concord, and Joseph L. Kanclerowicz of Dedham, Massachusetts. She was the dear sister of John Malolepszy of Melrose, Massachusetts, Pauline Heffley of Amherst and Bernice Thompson and her husband Harland of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack NH 03054

Her Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, April 26 at St. Stanislaus Church in Chelsea. Services will conclude with interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. The Anthony Memorial Funeral Home in Chelsea was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph M. Maryanski
Joseph M. Maryanski, 83, of Hudson, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Greenbriar Terrace Health Care Facility in Nashua.

He was born October 26, 1923 in North Hampton, Massachusetts, son of the late Stanley and Victoria (Bartkiewicz) Maryanski. He was also predeceased by a son, Mark Maryanski in 1995, as well as a brother; Raymond Maryanski and a sister; Evelyn Ware.

Joe was the husband of Pauline (White) Maryanski of Hudson, with whom he would have shared 60 years of marriage this November.

He was a World War II veteran where he served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps.

Mr. Maryanski was employed for over 30 years at the FAA in Nashua. He retired in the late 70s as Assistant Chief Air Traffic Controller.

He was the co-founder of bringing Babe Ruth baseball to Hudson and loved watching the Red Sox. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who spent many summers in Eastport, Maine. He will be remembered as a loving father and dear husband.

Besides his loving wife survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Maryanski of Hudson, and effrey and Frances Maryanski of Carmel, Indiana; two sisters and a brother-in-law; Irene and John Colby of Burlington, Massachusetts, and Constance Tedesco of Florida; give grandchildren, Joseph Maryanski and John Maryanski, both of Arizona; Sara Maryanski of Hudson, Dorothy Anne Maryanski and Maureen Maryanski, both of Indiana; a great grandson, Samuel Maryanski of Arizona; as well as several nieces and nephews.

All Services will be held at a later date. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Leo E. Nolin
Leo E. Nolin, 70, of Hudson, died at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, on Tuesday, April 17, 2007.

Born January 26, 1937 he was the son of Lillian (Dube) Nolin of Hudson and the late Edward Nolin.

Before his retirement Mr. Nolin worked at the former Ingersal Rand Co. now known as Beloit Co. He was a member of the American Legion Post 48 in Hudson, and a past member of the Border City Squares. He enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking and building and flying model airplanes. He had at one time been a member of the U. S. Marine Reserves.

Besides his mother survivors include his wife Jolene (Dodge) Nolin of Hudson, a daughter Lisa M. Russell of Hudson, a step-daughter, Diane and her husband Mike O’Bryant of Hudson, a step-son William W. and his wife Cherie Fenton of Milford; two brothers and sister-in-law, Raymond and Lucille Nolin of Londonderry, and Maurice D. and Rolande Nolin of Hudson; one granddaughter, Lindsay Hodsdon of Hudson; and seven step-granchildren, Kamela Barrett of Boston, Massachusetts, Georgia, Laura, Tara, and William Fenton, all of Milford, Stacy Jordan of Nashua, Wesley Jordan of Hudson, and Cody O’Bryant of Hudson.

A Funeral Service was celebrated on Friday, April 20 with burial in Edgewood cemetery, Nashua. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Edwin F. Steckevicz
Edwin F. Steckevicz, 90, of Hudson, died Sunday April 22, 2007 at the Community Hospice House Merrimack surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, December 11, 1916, son of the late Alphonse and Eleanor. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 48, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and co-founder of the Faucher Council of the Knights. He served on the Hudson Board of Selectmen for 12 years and was two-term President of the Hudson PTA. For 14 years he owned and operated the Clover Farm Store in Hudson, which he bought from his parents and where he knew his customers by name. He later worked as a sales representative of Sunshine Biscuit Company and manager for Consolidated Foods in Nashua. He served as President of the Hudson Industrial Associates and volunteered his time to St. John the Evangelist Parish.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Josephine (Moran) Steckevicz, of Hudson, a daughter Mary Jo Steckevicz and her husband Dennis Redfield and grandson John Redfield Steckevicz all of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. A son Edwin M. Steckevicz and his wife Catherine Coleman of Cambridge, two sisters Emma McCaugney and Joan Steckevicz both of Nashua a sister-in-law Staphany Steck of Wisconsin and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was held in St. Louis deGonzague Church, Nashua, Thursday, April 26. Burial was in St. Stanislaus cemetery, Nashua. The family request donations be made to Corpus Christy Food Pantry and Shelter, 43 Franklin Street, Nashua, NH 03060. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Helene Elizabeth (Scott) Andrews
Helene Elizabeth (Scott) Andrews, 76, of Nashua, died February 14, 2007 after a short illness.

She was born in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, on March 31, 1930. Mrs. Andrews later moved with her husband to Norwood, Massachusetts where together they raised five children. In 2003, she moved to New Hampshire to live with her daughters.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, taking care of her cats, attending and watching sporting events, and enjoying her grandchildren. She was an avid Red Sox fan. Mrs. Andrews enjoyed her trips, especially her trip to California and her 75th birthday cruise to Jamaica.

Mrs. Andrews was predeceased in 2000 by Ed, her spouse of 49 years.

Survivors include her son, Edward Jr., and his wife Deleta of Attleboro, Massachusetts; daughter Elizabeth of Nashua; son Richard and his wife Becki of Lake Tahoe, California; son Chris and his wife Shalia of Vancouver, Washington; and daughter Jeanne and her husband David of Litchfield; 15 grandchildren, Jolene, Jonathan, and Jamie Andrews of Attleboro; Chris, Marissa, and Kyle Andrews of Nashua; Alexa and Bob Andrews of Lake Tahoe; Bethany, Kayla, Melody, and Daniel Andrews of Vancouver; and David, Matthew and Shawn Henriquez of Litchfield. In addition to her family and friends from Norwood, Martha’s Vineyard, and New Hampshire, Helene leaves behind several new friends from the Greenbriar Nursing Home.

Arrangements were in the care of Davis Funeral Home in Nashua.

Joan (Scarlott) Lang
Joan (Scarlott) Lang, 68, of Hudson, died at home, surrounded by her family, Friday April 13, 2007 after a long battle with colon cancer.

Born February 25, 1939 in Rockland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Edwin L. Scarlott, D.O. and the late Doris (Mae Firth) Scarlott.

She graduated from the University of Maine and was a first and second grade school teacher in the Hudson School System for 25 years. She retired in 1998. She was a member of the Hannah Dustin Quilters, Red Hat Society, YMCA Swim Group and a Book Reading Group. She enjoyed swimming, traveling by RV, and doing river cruises. She also enjoyed the piano and Broadway musicals.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years Elliot A. Lang of Hudson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dori M. Columbus, D.D.S. and her husband Joseph Columbus, D.D.S., of Nashua, DeeDee Lang of Arlington, Massachusetts, a brother David Scarlott of Florida, three grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony and Chelsea Columbus all of Nashua.

She was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Jane Lang who died in 1972.

A Funeral Service was celebrated on Wednesday, April 18 in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson. Burial was in Hill Farms cemetery, Hudson. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Joan’s memory to the Joan Lang Educational Fund, c/o Nottingham West Elementary School, 9 Pelham Road, Hudson, NH 03051.
