Walter C. McMahon
Walter C. McMahon, 74, of Pelham died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

He was born June 6, 1932 in Nashua, son of the late Martin and Mary (Harvey) McMahon. He was also predeceased by a son, Mark A. McMahon in August of 2006; a grandson, Ryan D. McMahon; a brother, Norman McMahon; and a sister, Mary Kelley.

Walter was the husband of Beverly (Pierce) McMahon of Pelham, with whom he had celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Mr. McMahon was an Army Veteran during the Korean War. He was employed for many years as a baker with First National Stores and J. M. Fields. He was also employed by Bob Beauregard Drywall where he worked as a drywaller for many years before retiring in 1993.

He was a “Jack-of-all-Trades” who enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his family.

Besides his loving wife of 53 years, survivors include three sons; Michael C. McMahon of Pelham, Martin G. McMahon of Port Charlotte, Florida, Matthew W. McMahon of Pelham; two daughters and a son-in-law;, Kathryn Olson and Lisa E. and Peter Conley all of Manchester; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Davis of Florida and Dorothy McCormick of Milford, Delaware; as well as two nieces.

Visiting Hours and a Prayer Service were held on Saturday, April 14 in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St. in Hudson. In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made in Walter’s loving memory to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal Street, Manchester, NH 03101. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Richard ‘Dick’ Desrosiers
Richard “Dick” Desrosiers, 58, of Exeter, formerly of Hudson and Nashua, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at the Concord Regional VNA Hospice House in Concord.

Mr. Desrosiers was born April 24, 1948, in Nashua, son of the late Adelard and Jeannette (Duclos) Desrosiers.

He was the husband of Kathleen (Colburn) Desrosiers of Exeter.

Dick was employed by Hudson Paving for 31 years and was a longtime resident of the Hudson and Nashua area.

He loved bowling, skiing, fishing, camping, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. For many years he was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Nashua.

Besides his loving wife, Kathy, survivors include a daughter and a son-in-law Melissa and AJ Blais of Litchfield; two step sons and a step daughter-in-law; Kevin and Robin Belanger of Hudson, and Jeffrey Belanger of Manchester; a step daughter, Tammy Belanger, and her companion, Ricardo Delrosario of Exeter; a sister, Pauline Quinn of Fremont; and a step-brother, Gary Lafond, and his wife Nancy, of Batavia, New York; six grandchildren, Adam Belanger and Matthew Belanger both of Hudson, Karry Anne Belanger and Tyler Belanger, both of Manchester, Jenifer Singer of Florida and Tabauhris Delrosario of Exeter as well as his beloved boys; Damien, Steeler, and Apache.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street in Hudson. All may meet at the church. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5 -8 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery, Hudson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Dick’s loving memory to NHSPCA - SOS Fund, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

Marguerite (Grant) Koehler
Marguerite (Grant) Koehler, 72, of Hollis, died Monday, March 26, 2007 at the community Hospice House in Merrimack following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born June 19, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Frederick and Marguerite (Jackson) Grant.

Marguerite was the wife of the late William Koehler who died in 2001.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a loving son and daughter-in-law; Frederick and Linda Koehler of Pelham; three grandchildren; Evan Koehler, Ryan Koehler, and Emily Koehler all of Pelham.

A Graveside Service was held on Thursday, March 29, in East cemetery, Wheeler Road in Hollis. Donations may be made in Marguerite’s loving memory to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road., Merrimack, NH 03054 or Souhegan Home and Hospice Care, 24 North River Road, Milford, NH 03055. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Albert M. Dionne, Sr.
Albert Maurice Dionne, Sr., 74, of Page Road, Litchfield, died Wednesday morning, March 14 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, after a brief illness.

Mr. Dionne was born in Manchester on December 31, 1932, son of the late Stanislas and Marie (Bilodeau) Dionne. He resided in Hudson during his youth, and later made his home in Nashua, Litchfield, and Bennington before returning to Litchfield in 1998.

He was the husband of Margaret J. (Auclair) Dionne, whom he married at Infant Jesus Church on January 24, 1953. The couple recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Dionne was employed as a refrigeration mechanic with the former Durocher’s Ice Cream in Nashua for 39 years. He then worked for Osram Sylvania, Inc. in Hillsboro for 10 years. After he retired, Mr. Dionne worked part-time at Hershey’s Ice Cream in Nashua.

Educated in local schools, Mr. Dionne graduated from Nashua High School, Class of 1953 and furthered his education with courses at the Industrial Technical School in Boston, and Pennsylvania State University, College of Agriculture.

Mr. Dionne served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Town of Litchfield for five years. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge of Hillsboro, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. In his leisure time, Mr. Dionne enjoyed camping and fishing.

He was a communicant of Infant Jesus Church in Nashua.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Noelle Dionne.

Besides his wife, survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Albert M. Dionne, Jr., and his companion, Kim Evelyn of Laconia, Robert P. and Lianne Dionne of Nashua, and Michael D. Dionne of Bennington; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah A. Dionne and her companion, Ron Beaulieu of Merrimack and RoseMarie and David Dunbar of Nashua; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Dionne of Manchester; a sister, Yvonne Clark of Missouri; also nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral service was held Monday morning, March 19. Following cremation, burial will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, Development Office, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.

The Farwell Funeral Service, One Lock Street, Nashua, was in charge of arrangements.

Samuel C. Atkinson
Samuel C. Atkinson, 82, of Hudson, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Southern New Hampshrie Medical Center in Nashua.

He was born August 26, 1924, in Roseland, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Samuel D. and Etta Mae (Sweet) Atkinson.

Mr. Atkinson was the husband of Janet (Freeman) Atkinson of Hudson with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Sam was a member of the Grace Free Presbyterian Church in Litchfield.

He previously was employed as a carpenter for various contractors in Long Island, New York. He was also employed by Hannaford’s in Hudson, where he was affectionately known as “Grampa Sam.”

Mr. Atkinson loved fishing, woodworking, and gardening.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Emily Marquis, in 1993. He was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

Besides his loving wife, Janet, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Norman and Barbara Atkinson of Rochester, New York, and John and Deborah Atkinson of Elkton, Maryland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Paul Marquis of Litchfield, and Lois and Kevin Parsons of Hudson; a sister, Margaret Wagner of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; as well as 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service was celebrated on Monday in the Grace Free Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Christian James Spalthoff
Christian James Spalthoff, 65, of Nashua, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts.

He was born November 27, 1941 in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, son of the late Christian W. and Margaret (Rankin) Spalthoff. He was also predeceased by a sister, Susan Belleville.

Christian was a Union Carpenter in Massachusetts for many years. He was also employed part time by NAPA Auto Parts in Nashua.

Mr. Spalthoff was an Army Veteran, having served in Korea.

He enjoyed computers, electronics, and taking pictures of his family. He also loved to take trips to Foxwoods.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Christian Jay Spalthoff and his companion Ashley of Nashua, and Lance Corporal USMC Christopher Antonio Spalthoff and his wife Alisha of Beaufort, South Carolina; a daughter Lori Boucher of Merrimack; a step son William Monfet of Litchfield; three grandchildren Justin Boucher of Bedford, Sarah Martin of Merrimack, Harrison Jay Spalthoff of Nashua; a brother and a sister-in-law Peter and Susan Spalthoff of Milford, Connecticut; two sisters, Peggy Abare of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Joanne Gregorio of Massachusetts; his former spouse, Janet Spalthoff of Nashua; also the mother of his son Christopher, Barbara Buonanduci of Hudson.

Visiting Hours will be on Saturday from 1 – 3 p.m. with a Prayer service at 2:30 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Christian’s loving memory to the charity of one’s choice. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Hannah Nisa Belliveau
Hannah Nisa Belliveau of Hudson died at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center on February 28, 2007.

She was born on February 10, 2007 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of Paul M and Lisa Y. (Therriault) Belliveau.

Hannah was with us for 18 days and will be with God for eternity. “Homesick, ‘In Christ there are no good-byes, In Christ there is no end, So we'll hold on the Jesus with all that we have, until we see you again.’” We love you Hannah, Mom and Dad

In addition to her parents, survivors include her brothers, Benjamin Belliveau of Dublin, Matthew Rasmussen, Samuel Belliveau and Christopher Neville, all of Hudson; her sisters, Katie Belliveau and Jessi Belliveau of Nashua and Rebekah Belliveau of Hudson; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Therriault of New Boston, her paternal grandparents, Ellen Belliveau of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Paul E. Belliveau of Beverly Hills, Florida; three aunts, five uncles, a nephew and 18 cousins.

George H. Berard
George H. Berard, 80, of Bedford, New Hampshire, and formerly of Nashua, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Harborside Northwood Healthcare in Bedford.

He was born December 18, 1926, in Hudson, son of the late Leon and Claire (Marquis) Berard.

George was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Simard) Berard, in March of 2006. He was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Berard and a sister, Gloria Goguen.

Mr. Berard was a past parishioner of Infant Jesus Church and St. Christopher Church, as well as a former deacon at the Parish of the Resurrection.

George served his country in World War II, in the Merchant Marines, and later served in Korea with the Air Force as a Systems Mechanic and Operator, holding the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was also a member of the International Typographers Union.

He is survived by a loving daughter and son in law, Lynda and Peter Dobens of Nashua, as well as by one sister, Gladys Dumont of Hudson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson. Burial will be in St. Louis cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater NH Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 472B, Concord, NH 03301. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Burton Jesse Hinckley
Burton Jesse Hinckley, 83, of Litchfield, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

Mr. Hinckley was born in Proctor, Vermont, the son of Percy Herman and Gertrude Marion (Manning) Hinckley. He was raised in Rutland, Vermont, where he graduated from West Rutland High School. He proudly served with the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He earned degrees from Green Mountain College and Colby College, as well as, the University of Maine – Orono. He was a guidance counselor in Portsmouth and for 22 years at Eastern High School in Greenwich, Connecticut. Mr. Hinckley enjoyed playing golf and bowling with his wife, as well as, being active in Christian churches.

In his life, Mr. Hinckley’s beloved family included: His wife of over 60 years, Jean (Beckwith); a daughter, Janet Tonnesen and her husband, Bruce, of Derry; 2 brothers; 1 sister; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

At the request of the family, services will be private. Memorial contributions, in Mr. Hinckley’s name, are appreciated and can be made to: The Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054. Goodwin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
