Philip St. Armand
Philip St. Armand, 74, a lifelong resident of Litchfield, died suddenly Monday, July 16, 2007, at his home. Born March 27, 1933, he was the son of the late Arthur and Arcelia (Fafard) St. Armand.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Camille and Lucien St. Armand, and his sister, Sister Cecile St. Armand.

He is survived by his sister Lillian St. Armand of Hudson, as well as three brothers, Fred St. Armand of Kansas, Leo St. Armand of Iowa, and Alfred St. Armand of Lempster.

Philip, a bachelor, was loved and admired by his many nieces, nephews, and their families in New Hampshire and throughout the United States.

A Graveside Service was held on Friday, July 20, in St. Francis cemetery in Nashua. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home on 50 Ferry Street in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Bradley Eugene Tafe
Bradley E. Tafe, 67, of Brookline, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at Parish Medical Center in Titusville, Florida, following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

He was born May 23, 1940, in Nashua, son of the late Eugene and Gilberte (Langlois) Tafe. He was also predeceased by a brother, Philip Tafe, in 1990.

Bradley was the husband of Carole (Johns) Tafe of Brookline and was a lifelong resident of both Nashua and Brookline.

He was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1958 and later graduated for the University of New Hampshire. Bradley was an Army Veteran and member of the 82nd Airborne from 1958 - 1961.

Throughout the years, he was employed by various companies in the hi-tech computer field and was the previous owner of Carole’s Custom Cleaning in Brookline. He enjoyed the past two years of retirement with his wife in Titusville, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Besides his loving wife, survivors include four sons and a daughter, Matthew Bradley Tafe of Mason, Nick Pendleton of Ashland, Scott Pendleton of Weare, Jean Picard and her husband Kevin, of Litchfield, and Mark Pendleton of Brookline; four grandchildren, Nicolas Bradley Pendleton of Candia, Sheala Pendleton of Peterborough, Andrew Picard and Alissa Picard both of Litchfield; a brother, Daniel Tafe and his wife Kathy of Nashua; also survived by Dan and Shannon Turcott of Francestown and their children, Jenn Turcott of Francestown and Dan Turcott of Hollis; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting Hours will be on Sunday, August 5, from 1 – 4 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Hudson. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, August 6 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepard, 214 Main Street, Nashua. All may meet at the church. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery in Brookline.

David B. Thompson
David B. Thompson, 63, of Hudson and formerly of Nashua and Milford, died Thursday evening, June 21, 2007, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, after a long battle with Pancreatic cancer.

Mr. Thompson was born in Nashua on May 16, 1944, son of the late Malvern J., Jr. and Doris H. (Olson) Thompson. A resident of Hudson for many years, Mr. Thompson was educated in local schools and attended Alvirne High School.

In 1961, Mr. Thompson enlisted in the Air Force, where he served as a Master Sergeant in the Intelligence Service. During his 24 years in the Air Force, Mr. Thompson served two tours of duty in Vietnam and also served in various locations in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Following his retirement in 1985, Mr. Thompson worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Hudson for over 20 years before retiring in January of this year, due to his illness.

An avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Thompson enjoyed watching NASCAR and other auto racing, and the New England Patriots. He also loved collecting Rock and Roll music, especially from the 1950s. Mr. Thompson held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Hudson.

Members of his family include his wife, Faye (Winstanley) Thompson, whom he married on March 5, 1995; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Isaiah LaBrosse of Nashua; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald Plamondon and his significant other, Michelle Holland of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Bill Plamondon and Toni Garland of Merrimack; five grandchildren, Tiffany Thompson of Puerto Rico, Brandon and Meghan Plamondon of Hudson and Jaden and Lily LaBrosse of Nashua; a sister, Susan Pond of Florida; and his beloved dog, Rep.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was predeceased by a son, David L. Thompson, who died in 1989.

His funeral service was held at the Farwell Funeral Home in Nashua on Monday, June 25. The Reverend Doctor Robert W. Odierna, Rector of the Church of The Good Shepherd, officiated. Burial took place at the New Hampshire State Veterans cemetery in Boscawen.

Helen B. Tucker
Helen B. Tucker, 85, of Windham, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, in her home.

She was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, on September 19, 1922, the youngest daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Krzakowski. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Mickey and Joseph Keronski. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph N. Beauchesne, and her second husband, Ward E. Tucker.

She managed the W. T. Grant Restaurants of Salem and North Andover, Massachusetts, owned a landscaping business with her late husband Ward Tucker, and provided house cleaning services for residents of the local area.

Helen’s interests included driving, caring for animals, traveling in her retirement years with her husband Ward in their motor home, listening to music, ice skating and mowing with her John Deere tractor.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Beauchesne of Windham, and Daniel J. Beauchesne of New Hampton; two daughters, Dianne M. Howes of Windham, and Helen A. Beauchesne of Windham; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Mary and Carol Keronski of Salem.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 4, 2007, from 1 to 3p.m. at the Windham Presbyterian Church Hall on North Lowell Road. In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to the Windham Firefighters Association, 3 Fellows Road, Windham, NH 03087, in the name of Helen B. Tucker.

The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Martha (Shaw) Zaher
Elizabeth M. (Shaw) Zaher, 80, died on July 12, 2007 from complications due to diabetes. She had been a resident of Greenbriar Terrace Nursing Home in Nashua since 2001.

She was born in Malden, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1926, daughter of the late Jacob and Cora (Blackwood) Shaw. She was the widow of John M. Zaher Sr. (1916 - 1992).

During her childhood, she spent a lot of time with her family at her grandparents’ home in Georgia. She had worked at Brigham’s Restaurant in Boston for many years. From the late 60s to the early 80s, she lived in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, where she met and married her second husband John M. Zaher, Sr. In 1984 they retired to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where she lived until 2000 before returning to New England to be closer to her children. While in Florida, she was a member of Shalimar Methodist Church. Known as Beth to her friends, she loved to do puzzles, quilting and playing Bingo.

Zaher is survived by a daughter Corlyn A. (Beaton) Yusuf of Litchfield and her husband Saleem, their son Adam; a son Stuart D. Beaton of Malden, and his wife Jodi, their two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah; a brother Haywood Shaw of Thomaston, Georgia, and his wife Louise, and their family. She is also survived by step-daughter Marika (wife of the late John M. Zaher, Jr.) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and their children, Christopher Zaher and wife Paula of Crestview, Florida, Deanne (Zaher) Pederson and her husband Lloyd, and their children Athena and Arianna, of Gulf Breeze, Florida; Hazel (Zaher) Hakenson and her husband Jayme of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and a step-daughter Jane (Zaher) Printess and her husband Don, of Concord, Massachusetts.

She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband at Beal Memorial cemetery, located in Fort Walton Beach Florida, following a grave side mass.

Justin William Bissett
Justin William Bissett, 7, died June 26, 2007, at his home in Litchfield following a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Justin was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on February 9, 2000, the son of Jeffrey A. and Darlene M. (Turner) Bissett. He had resided in Litchfield for the past seven years and played with the Litchfield T-Ball league. Justin was a member of the Home School Library Group in Derry. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also loved to play Game Cube.

Justin is survived by his parents of Litchfield, his sister, Casey E. Bissett of Litchfield, his paternal grandmother, Susan Bissett of Tewksbury, Massachusetts; his maternal grandfather, Wayne Turner and his wife Sandie of Tewksbury; his maternal grandmother, Rita Turner of Lowell; three aunts, Amy Johnson and her husband Steve of Methuen, Massachusetts, Jennifer Turner and Joelene Turner both of Lowell; one uncle, Darrin Turner of Tewksbury; and two cousins, Dante Johnson of Methuen and Haley Turner of Lowell. He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandfather, Allan C. Bissett, in 2001.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 30, at the Central Congregational Church in Derry. Burial followed in Pinecrest cemetery, Litchfield. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium in Londonderry was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas H. Clifford, Jr.
Thomas H. Clifford Jr., 82, of Hudson, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 14, 1924, in Arlington, Massachusetts, son of the late Thomas H. and Esther V. (Walsh) Clifford, Sr. Mr. Clifford grew up in Pepperell, Massachusetts, and graduated from Pepperell High School. At one time, he owned gas stations in Pepperell and Merrimack. He was an Army veteran, having served during World War II. He fought in the Calcutta, India Campaign. He was a past member of the Pepperell VFW. He enjoyed traveling and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Luisa (Marciano) Clifford of Hudson; five sons, Thomas H. Clifford III of California, Wayne Clifford of Massachusetts, Joseph Clifford and his wife Virginia of Alabama, Al Mark Clifford and his wife Lynne of Litchfield, and Richard Clifford of Hudson; a daughter, Ginger Clifford of Massachusetts; two brothers, Paul and Steve Clifford, both of California; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 30, at St. Kathryn’s Church in Hudson. Burial was in St. Patrick cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38102. The Dumont Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn A. Hughes
Evelyn A. Hughes, 76, a 30-year resident of Pelham, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at her home.

Born in Utica, New York, May 5, 1931, the daughter of the late John W. and the late Edna (Philkins) Hughes, she attended Clinton, New York, schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School in the Class of 1949. She went on to attend Business College in Utica.

Before retiring due to illness, she was the executive secretary to the business manager of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Previously, she was the secretary at the Ruggles Street Baptist Church in Boston, Massachusetts.

Miss Hughes is survived by a dear friend Arlene King and Arlene's family, Courtney King, Cori King of Nashua, Ashley Kovach of Madison, Indiana, and Kristi McClellan of Barrington, and her pet cat Muffin.

At her request, all her funeral services were held privately.

Edward G. Leaor, Jr.
Edward G. Leaor, Jr. 49, of Hudson, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Nashua, December 13, 1957, he was the son of Edward G. and Darlene A. (LaPan) Leaor, Sr. of Hudson.

Leaor was a 1976 graduate of Alvirne High School. He had worked at Hamm Septic Services as a diesel mechanic before starting LA3 Towing Service in Hudson. Leaor also owned and operated his own amusement ride with BA Amusements. He then opened State Auto Repair in Nashua. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, recycling junk metal and had a passion for Star Wars. He will be remembered most for always helping people.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a son, Edward G. Leaor III, of Nashua; a daughter, Felicia Leaor of Nashua; a brother and sister-in-law Carl and Isabelle Leaor of Hudson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Leaor-Lovejoy and her husband Jeff, of Litchfield, and Bonnie Myers and her husband Eric of New Ipswich; two grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Leaor and Gabriel Ruiz, both of Nashua; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, July 6, in St. Kathryn’s Church in Hudson. Burial was in St. Patrick cemetery, Hudson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Edward G. Leaor, Sr., 80 Pelham Road, Hudson, NH 03051. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, Hudson, was in charge of arrangements.

Desirée N. Markhgott
Desirée N. Markhgott, 17, of Hudson, died Friday, June 22, 2007, in the Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Miss Markhgott was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire on December 11, 1989, a daughter of Franz J. and Rebecca L. (Schatzel) Markhgott. She was a resident of Hudson for the past year, formerly living in Finland for three years, and Londonderry. Desirée was a student at Alvirne High School, and enjoyed music, basketball, ice skating and watching movies. She attended First Church of Christ Scientist in Derry.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Melissa Kerscher and her husband Marc, Marjourie Markhgott, and Sarah Markhgott all of Hudson; and by one nephew, Hayden Kerscher of Hudson.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 27, in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium in Derry. The burial followed in the Forest Hill cemetery in East Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Twelveacres, Inc., 595 Millich Drive, Campbell, CA 95008.

John Stewart Rutherford
John Stewart Rutherford, 87, of Hudson, formerly of Pelham and Nashua, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at Courville Communities in Nashua. He was the husband of the late Mary F. (Reidy) Rutherford, who died November 14, 2004.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, October 31, 1919, the son of the late Alexander S. and the late Josephine (Finnegan) Rutherford, he attended Abington schools and graduated from Abington High School in 1937. He also attended M.I.T. School of Engineering.

During World War II, he was a member of the U. S. Coast Guard and served as a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Marine. He made many Atlantic Ocean crossings in convoys.

Before retiring, Mr. Rutherford was the Night Shift Superintendent for over 30 years at the Bethlehem Shipyards in Quincy and then in East Boston.

An auto racing enthusiast, he participated in many of the Mount Washington Hill Climbs and was life member of the Sports Car Club of America. He was also a founding member of the Family Motor Coach Association.

In addition, he was a licensed pilot and a member of the Private Licensed Pilots Association. He also loved photography and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Rutherford is survived by two sons Malcolm S. Rutherford of Windham, and John a Rutherford and his wife Brenda of Hudson; two grandsons, Jason Rutherford of Hillsborough and Nicholas Rutherford of Hudson; a granddaughter, Bryana Rutherford of Hudson; and two great grandchildren, Lili Rutherford and Jason Rutherford.

He was also the brother of the late Jesse Gooch.

A Funeral Service was held at the Pelham Funeral Home in Pelham Friday, July 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of New Hampshire, 10 Ferry Street, Concord, NH 03301.
