Dennis Silverthorn
Dennis Silverthorn of Nashua passed away on November 14, 2007, at sea while on vacation. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on February 17, 1942, and was the son of the late Phillip Silverthorn of Ontario, Canada, and Margaret (Farrell) Silverthorn of Ayershire, Scotland.

He was the beloved husband of Sue (Maille) Silverthorn to whom he married over 30 years ago. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962 and retired as a CSMgt. He also worked as a civilian for the United States Air Force and retired as a Manpower Analyst at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts in 2002.

He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed traveling, family golfing trips to Myrtle Beach, South Caroline, and horse racing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 48 in Hudson. He was also a member of the U. S. Bowling Congress and President of the Good Times Thursday Night Bowling League in Merrimack. He thoroughly treasured the time he spent bowling on the Go Air Force and WTFK teams. He was better known as "Deuce" on the Hanscom Bowling Lanes.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Arthur Bazdanes of Nashua, and his father-in-law Maurice Maille of Lowell, Massachusetts.

Besides his loving wife Sue, he is survived by two sons, James and Christopher Silverthorn of Nashua; friend Cheryl Becotte of Derry; two wonderful grandchildren, Benjamin Silverthorn and Kaylee Rose Tierney, who loved their "Grampy.” He was the brother of Sharon and Butch (Forsey) of New York and Owen Silverthorn of Alamintos, California. He was the son-in-law of Celia Maille of Nashua, brother-in-law to Polly Bazdanes of Nashua, Lisa Maille and Scott Hume of Nashua, Steve Maille of Lowell, Mike and Janet Maille of Pelham, Rob and Robin Maille of Salem, Ellen and Doug Soper of Nashua, Kevin Maille of Nashua, and Jason and Kim Maille of Milford, Massachusetts. He was the uncle of Alan and Karen Forsey of Lockport, New York; Adam and Kelly Forsey and Wendy and Chris Brown of Niagara Falls, New York; Charles, Leah and AJ Bazdanes of Nashua; Robert and Joshua Maille of Pelham; Joseph and Amanda Maille of Salem; and Matthew and Emma Maille of Milford, Massachusetts.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street, Route 111, in Hudson on Friday, November 23 from 4 – 7 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 24 at 10 a.m. All may meet at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Louis cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Arthur Bazdanes Memorial Fund, c/o Bishop Guertin High School, Lund Road, Nashua, NH 03062.

Brenda D. Smith
Brenda D. (Severance) Smith, 56, of Hudson, passed away at the Community Hospice House, in Merrimack after a brief illness.

Ms. Smith was born in Bangor, Maine, on March 16, 1951, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Mushrow) Severance. In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her beloved son, Jason W. Smith.

Brenda was a resident of Hudson most of her life. She attended Alvirne High School and proudly received her GED in 1998. Brenda was employed as a manager with Burger King Corporation. She enjoyed playing cards and scrapbooking.

Family members include her former husband, James F. Smith of Pompano Beach, Florida; grandson, Jonathan Smith of Sutton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russ and Carole Severance of Merrimack; Tim and Kris Severance of Hudson, Todd and Katrina Severance of Maine; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Ernest Stone, of Rochester, Wendy and Paul Kelley of New Brunswick, Canada, Debbie and Billy Baker of Salem, and Kim and Randy Roemer of Hudson; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial reception will be held Saturday, December 1, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire Chapel, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 4:30 p.m.

In addition to flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054, in memory of Brenda.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire assisted the family with arrangements.

Lynne C. Teague
Lynne C. Teague, 70, of Salem, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, Massachusetts.

He was born in Epping to Lynne E. and Marion L. Teague, and then became a lifelong resident of Salem. He attended Salem schools and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1957. After graduating he worked as a builder with his father, entered the U. S. Army and the National Guard, and then formed the L. T. Construction Co. and built over 200 houses in Salem. He also operated L. C. Teague Inc. Trucking and Clinton Realty Trust.

From an early age Mr. Teague was an antique car enthusiast and bought and restored many prize-winning cars. He belonged to the Profile Auto League and many other car clubs. He became a licensed pilot who took part in building his own plane. He also was a founding member of the Salem Contractor's Association. He loved traveling and his granddaughters who were a very big part of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda (Rich) Teague of Salem; a son, Clinton Teague of Salem; a daughter, Patricia L. Amico of Salem; granddaughters Briana and Vanessa Amico of Salem; a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Steve Toohey of Atkinson; an aunt, uncle, and cousins, several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

A funeral service was held on Monday, November 5, at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Good Will-Hinckley, for Boys and Girls, PO Box 159, Hinckley, ME 04944-0159.

James A. Vytal
James A. Vytal, 71, of Atkinson, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, Massachusetts.

He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where he grew up and attended schools. He was a resident of Atkinson for the past 13 years, formerly of Windham.

Mr. Vytal owned and operated J and B Graphics in Atkinson. He was very involved with the Masons, especially with the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, where he was a permanent member and received the Henry Price Medal, was Grand Lecturer, and was the editor of the Trowel Magazine. He also received the Illustrious Stanley F. Maxwell 33rd degree Medal for Distinguished Service from the Massachusetts Council of Deliberation for the Scottish Rites. His list of memberships, accomplishments, and history with the Masons in Massachusetts was remarkable.

He was predeceased by his wife Barbara A. (Frost) Vytal.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry J. and Cindy Vytal of Londonderry; a daughter, Karen L. Hogue of Hooksett; his fiancée, Jean E. Dowling of Merrimack; and three grandchildren, Brittany and Matthew Vytal, and James D. Hogue.

A Masonic Service was held Thursday, October 25, at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem. Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund at The 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center, 458 Newtonville Avenue, Newtonville, MA 02460.

William H. Wallace
William H. Wallace, 89, of Salem, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at the Lifecare Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica, Massachusetts.

He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, grew up and was schooled in Billerica where he graduated from Howe High School. He later attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for two years with a degree in electronics.

Wallace was a senior technical writer for Raytheon Corporation in Burlington, Massachusetts, where he worked for more than 25 years. He previously worked for General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Thomas Talbot Masonic Lodge in Billerica. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of the Granite State Baptist Church in Salem where he was the oldest living member, and was in the Young at Hearts Club. He enjoyed music, crossword puzzles and loved baseball and the Red Sox.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen D. (Martin) Wallace, and daughter Kathryn Butcher.

He is survived by one daughter, Jeannette Richardson of Hudson; two sons, Thomas J. and his Wife Marsha Wallace of Brooksville, New York, and Martin E. and his wife Francesca Wallace of Rome, New York; a son-in-Law, Chester Butcher of Danville; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held on November 26 at Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem. Cremation followed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Granite State Baptist Church, 1 Sandhill Road, Salem, NH 03079.

Jessie G. (Tompkins) Walters
Jessie G. (Tompkins) Walters, 73, of Windham, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.

She was born in New York City, New York, where she grew up and attended schools. She had been a resident of Windham for the past 40 years; formerly of Milford, Connecticut.

Mrs. Walters was an assembler for Centronics in Hudson. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved outdoor adventures, such as white water rafting, mountain climbing, and sailing.

She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Harriet (Hartridge) Tompkins. She was also predeceased by a sister Audrey Loumeau.

She is survived by her husband Richard Walters of Windham; two sons, Richard and his wife Nicole Walters of Manchester, and John Walters of Litchfield; one daughter, Georgia Walters of Manchester; and four grandsons, Christopher, Riley, Maxwell, and Jake.

Funeral services will be private for the family. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of arrangements.

John W. White
John W. White, 55, of Salem, died Friday, November 16, 2007, at his home. He had lived in Salem for 15 years, previously living in Colorado and Newton, Massachusetts.

White was born and educated in Newton, the son of the late Elvera (Laurin) and John J. White. He was a master carpenter with Black Dog Construction. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Michele (Romano) White of Salem, and her son Brandon Romano of Manhattan, New York; in-laws Ralph and Patricia Romano of Salem; a brother, Larry White of Sandown; sisters Bette White of Newtonville, Massachusetts, Joanne White of China; Linda White of Salem, Chris Peebles of Colorado, Elly White of Colorado, Barbara Paradise of Westminster, Massachusetts, and Jan Tormey of Newton, Massachusetts.

Memorial visitation will be on Saturday, December 1, 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street in Salem. The funeral will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110 or Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.

Robert N. Whiteneck, Sr.
Robert N. “Bob” Whiteneck, Sr., 76, of Salem, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He had lived in Salem for over 60 years.

Robert was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of the late Margaret (Hartman) and Harold Whiteneck. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Robert had worked as a painter for Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Robert was a member of the American Legion in Salem. He enjoyed farming, gardening and vacations. He loved spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his first wife Ora (Wheeler) Whiteneck, sister Carol Major, brothers George and Carl Whiteneck, grandson Joshua Whiteneck, and special friends Elliot and Natalie Duston.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Harrison) Keefe Whiteneck of Salem; sons James Whiteneck and his wife Lisa of Salem and Robert Whiteneck, Jr., and fiancé Cheryl Goterch; daughters Linda and her husband John Cote of Sandown and Susan and her husband Dan Shields of Raymond; stepson Peter Keefe and his wife Maureen of Chester and Robert Keefe and his wife Amy of Salem; stepdaughters Pamela Keefe of Sandown, Carla Keefe and her fiancé Scott Thompson of Salem and Jodi Keefe of Salem; in-laws Herman and Georgie Harrison; grandchildren Jodi Robinson, Robin Shields, Danny Shields, Eric Keefe, Justin Whiteneck, Caitlin Keefe, Austin Whiteneck, Kelsey Keefe, Stephanie Whiteneck, Shane Whiteneck, Tayla Keefe, Emma Keefe; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on November 20, 2007; burial services will be private for the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Attn: Cancer Research, 10 Brookline Place, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald J. Gendron
Gerald J. Gendron, 76, of Salem, died peacefully Friday, October 12, 2007, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts, surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with heart disease.

He was the loving husband of Theresa (Poirier) Gendron with whom he recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on August 27, 1931, son of Arthur and Annie (Linehan) Gendron, where he grew up and graduated from Keith Academy. He moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts, where he married and raised his six children. He later moved to Salem where he has resided for the last 21 years.

Mr. Gendron was employed by the U. S. Postal Service in Lawrence for 32 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Matthew Church in Windham, and a former member of St. Ann’s Parish in Lawrence where he founded the St. Anne’s Sports Association for the youth of the parish. He was an avid sports fan and his passion was working with youth sports as a coach, mentor, and number one fan of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, #4027 in Methuen, and served on the board of directors of the Lawrence Postal Employees Credit Union.

He loved spending time with his family, enjoying many family fun days at his summer home on Newfound Lake. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and will be missed by many.

In addition to his loving wife, Theresa (Poirier) Gendron, he is survived by one daughter, Debbie and her husband Andy McMahon of South Lawrence, Massachusetts; five sons, Jerry, Jr., and his wife Susan, Dennis and his wife Beth, Michael and his wife Celeste all of Salem, Thomas and his wife Virginia of Bradford, Massachusetts, and Kevin Gendron of Derry. He is also survived by two brothers and their wives, Leo and Terry Gendron and Francis and Jane Gendron of Lowell. He was the brother of the late Gladys Lowell, Leighton Gendron, Raymond Gendron, Leonard Gendron, and Arthur Gendron. Mr. Gendron leaves 14 grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Dennis, Jr., Matthew, Ryan, Jessica, Stephanie, Nicole, Micaela, Kaleigh, Nicholas, Joshua, Alyison and Brandon. He also leaves one great-grandchild, Kallie, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated October 16 at St. Matthew Church in Windham. Burial took place in Elmwood cemetery in Methuen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martha and Mary Group, c/o St. Matthew Church, 2 Searles Road, Windham NH. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.

Patricia A. (Ardizzoni) Silva
Patricia A. (Ardizzoni) Silva, 59, Salem, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, Massachusetts.

She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she grew up and attended schools. She later graduated from Julie Billiard High School in Boston, Massachusetts. Mrs. Silva was a resident of Salem for the past 22 years, formerly of New Durham, and Somerville.

Mrs. Silva was a customer service representative for Yellow Transportation in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. She enjoyed fishing and most of all spending time with her grandsons.

She is survived by her loving husband Manuel Silva of Salem; a daughter, Heather and her husband Jason Knight of Londonderry; a step-daughter, Barbara and her husband John Niland of Fremont; a brother, James Ardizzoni of Somerville; a sister, Carol Ardizzoni of Methuen, Massachusetts; three grandsons, Patrick, Kyle, and Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, October 15 at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. Burial was in Pine Grove cemetery, Salem. The Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem was in charge of arrangements.
