Priscilla Peloquin Gaeb
GLEN - Priscilla Peloquin Gaeb, of Glen, died on Sept. 11, 2000, at her home.
She was born on April 16, 1931, in Central Falls, R.I., the daughter of Albert Joseph and Mary (Yell) Peloquin.
She was a 1949 graduate of Dover High School and attended McIntosh College in 1950-51. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with family and friends, and she spent many happy hours with her new found hobby of quilting.
Her surviving family includes her husband Murill A. Gaeb of Glen; her sons, David A. Gaeb and wife Diana of Enfield and Douglas A. Gaeb and companion Claire Theriault of Berlin; stepson, Jack A. Gaeb and wife Robin of Loudon; stepdaughter, Suzanne Gaeb of Raymond; her brothers, Edouard A. Peloquin and wife Gertrude of Springfield, Va., and Donald E. Peloquin and wife Wilhelmina of Las Vegas, Nev.; her sisters, Blanche Larochelle and husband Raymond of Palmetto, Fla., and Beatrice Reil of Somersworth; granddaughters Jenifer, Veronica and Amanda Gaeb; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Daniel A. Gaeb, in 1996 and a sister, Irene Otis, in 1997.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to The Leukemia Society or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services of Northern Carroll County. It was Priscilla's request that friends honor her memory by doing a simple act of kindness for someone.
Arrangements are with Tasker Funeral Service of 621 Central Avenue in Dover with one day viewing on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will take place Thursday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Dover. Burial will be in Gaeb family lot in New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford.
Michael Don Calkins
OCALA, Fla. - Michael Don Calkins, 60, of Ocala, Fla., died Sept. 6, 2000, in Madison.
He was born in Boise, Idaho. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Aspinali Calkins of Ocala, Fla.; his daughters, Debra Slover of Grand Junction, Colo., and Michele Ricks of Elberta, Utah; a stepdaughter, Joni L. Aspinall of Laconia; his sons, Tim Calkins of Meridian, Idaho, John Calkins of Port Orchard, Wash., Russ Calkins of Caldwell, Idaho, Greg Calkins of Grand Junction, Colo. and Mark Calkins of South Jordon, Utah; his sisters, Bonnie Byerly, Debbie Siemon and Brenda McAfee, all from Boise, Idaho; his brothers, Bud Calkins of Boise, Gary Calkins of Mount Rose, Colo., Don Calkins of Notus, Idaho, Steve DeVinaspre of Boise and John DeVinaspre of Boise; 26 grandchildren; one step grandchild; and two great grandchildren.

Patricia Mavis Sears
TAMWORTH - Patricia Mavis Sears, 76, of Tamworth Road, died on Sept. 9, 2000, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
She was born on July 22, 1924, in Norwood, Mass., the daughter of Paul W. and Ruby E. (Phillips) Trundy. She moved to Tamworth five years ago from Springdale, Ariz. She served eight months in the U.S. Army as a surgical technician in 1945. She was a member of St. Andrew's in the Valley Episcopal Church in Tamworth.
She was the widow of the late William Leo Sears, who died in 1990. Her surviving family includes three sons, William M. Sears of Winter Haven, Fla., Stephen P. Sears of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Christopher J. Sears, who is stationed in Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Patricia A. Morrison of Lake City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one very special friend, Ken Hall of Conway.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at Remick Acres Common Room in Tamworth, with the Rev. Peg Custer, pastor of St. Andrew's in the Valley Episcopal Church in Tamworth officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the VNA Hospice of Southern Carroll County and Vicinity at P.O. Box 1620, Wolfeboro, 03894.

William E. Pierce
CENTER OSSIPEE - William E. Pierce, 72, of 19 Remle Road, died Sept. 9, 2000, at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Wolfeboro.
He was born on Jan. 24, 1928, in Portsmouth, the son of Elmer W. and Blanche E. (Dailey) Pierce.
Pierce lived in Center Ossipee for 23 years, having moved from Portsmouth where he had worked for many years as a shipfitter for the Portsmouth Navy Shipyard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara C. (Dunbar) Pierce of Center Ossipee; one son, William E. Pierce Jr. of Riverside, Calif.; one daughter, Mary E. Widder of Center Ossipee; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Robert E. Pierce of Manchester; one sister, June Lunt-Pecunies of Center Ossipee; one niece; three nephews; and a few cousins.
Visiting hours will take place today (Tuesday) from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home on Route 16 in West Ossipee. A funeral service will be held following the visiting hours at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Wilbur Hartford officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Eliot, Maine.

Hugh Edwin "Ed" Pray
FRYEBURG - Hugh Edwin "Ed" Pray, 64, of McNeil Road, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at the Fryeburg Healthcare Center.
He was born in North Conway, the son of the late Frank and Gladys Newcomb Pray. He lived his entire life at the family homestead farm in Fryeburg Harbor.
Pray graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1954. He was a dairy farmer throughout his life, and operated the farm into the 1980s when he was the last shipper of milk from a farm in Fryeburg. After closing the farm operation, Pray was employed by Green Thumb Farms for several years in the potato operation.
Pray was an active member of the Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church of Fryeburg Harbor, and was an early member of the Fryeburg Historical Society and former member of the Fryeburg Jaycees. Pray always enjoyed animals, flowers and plants. He had an uncanny memory of family genealogy and local history.
He was predeceased by a brother, Holman Pray. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Edna Pray of Fryeburg Harbor; three nieces, Glenora Heath of Freedom, Teresa Daigle of East Conway and Bonnie Sanphy of North Conway; and two nephews, James Pray of Waterbury, Vt. and Herbert Pray of Fryeburg.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Memorial Methodist Church at Fryeburg Harbor with the Rev. Richard Male and Rev. Kenneth Hinkley. Burial will be in Fish Street Cemetery in North Fryeburg.
Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home in Fryeburg.
John A. MacFadyen
CONWAY - John A. MacFadyen, 80, of North Conway, died peacefully at his home on Sept. 7, 2000.
He was born in New York City and was brought up by his aunts Bessie and Jenny MacFadyen in Lowell, Mass. He was graduated from Lowell High School in 1937 and soon after married his classmate Helen Beatrice Fyfe.
John worked for most of his life as an insurance adjustor in the Boston area, and lived in Lowell and Dracut, Mass. He retired to the Mount Washington Valley in 1984.
He loved his family and the dogs and cats who were his companions. He enjoyed playing cards and solving crossword puzzles. He especially liked convertibles, auctions, tag sales and bargains.
John fell ill with Crohn's Disease as a very young man. He endured this and many other physical ailments with great fortitude.
He had a keen mind and a quick and subtle wit and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Helen, of Conway; grandson Ross Clifford MacFadyen and Ross's parents, son Duncan F. MacFadyen and Michelle Clifford, of Bartlett; daughter and son-in-law Jean D. and Forrest Simmons, of Bartlett; son Donald F. MacFadyen, of Salem, Mass.; great-grandchildren Stephen, William and Jennifer Burgoyne and their parents, granddaughter Laurie S. and William Burgoyne, of Billerica, Mass.; and his cat, Frankie.
At John's request, a memorial celebration will take place at Merlino's Restaurant, North Conway, on Wednesday, Sept. 13, between 7 and 9 p.m.

Elizabeth "Topsy" Demeritt
OSSIPEE - Elizabeth "Topsy" Demeritt, 87, of Ossipee Mountain Road, died Sept. 7, 2000, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. She was a native and lifelong resident of Ossipee, the daughter of the late John and Georgie (Frost) Harmon.
She was employed as a proofreader at the Carroll County Independent for nearly 30 years. Topsy was a member of the Ossipee Valley Bible Church in West Ossipee.
She is survived by her son, Alan Nichols of Center Ossipee; three daughters, Shirley Meserve of Holyoke, Mass., Carolyn Libby of Porter, Maine, and Janet DuBois of Taylorsville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several great, great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel MacBrien of Wolfeboro and Florence Drew of Maine.
She was predeceased by a brother, John Harmon; and two sisters, Ethel McGoon and Bertha Nichols.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Moultonville Road in Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Ossipee Valley Bible Church in West Ossipee. Pastor John Aron will officiate. Burial will be in the Grant Hill Cemetery in Center Ossipee.

Agnes Densmore
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - Agnes Densmore, of San Clemente, Calif., died on Aug. 24, 2000. She was born in Struthers, Ohio, on Oct. 20, 1919. She lived a life of dedication to her family. Her husband of 46 years was Stanley Densmore, who has been deceased since 1992. They lived in Conway for 18 years and moved to San Clemente in 1964.
She is survived by her children; Tom Densmore of Beaverton, Ore., Miles Densmore of Laguna Beach, Calif., Jeff Densmore of Conway, and Lisa Densmore of San Clemente.
A memorial service will be held on Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. at San Clemente Presbyterian Church, located at 119 North Avenue Dela Estrella, San Clemente, Calif. 92672. Notes and flowers will be received at this location and should be marked, "Densmore memorial."
Esther A. (Bischoff) Millar
BARRINGTON, R.I. - Esther A. (Bischoff) Millar, 90, of Chachapacassett Road, Barrington, died Aug. 28, 2000, at her granddaughter's home in West Ossipee following a long battle with cancer.
She was born July 10, 1910, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Elizabeth Jane (McCandless) Bischoff, and had lived in Bristol, R.I. She later moved to Barrington, where she had lived for most of her life.
Mrs. Millar had been employed as a cook with the Barrington School Lunch Program for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Martha Washington Chapter Order of Eastern Star Number 18 of Warren, R.I. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Barrington, a member of the Cancer Group of St. John's Episcopal Church, and also a member of the Barrington Senior Citizens' Group.
She was the widow of the late John "Scotty" Millar, and is survived by her son John G. Millar, Auburn, Mass.; two daughters, Jane E. Wass, Wolfeboro, and Barbara L. Ames, North Stonington, Conn.; five grandchildren, Laurie Tupper, West Ossipee, Heather Wass, Dover, Major Glen Wass, Stratham, Kristen Kane, Jefferson, Mass., and Carrie Tache, East Brookfield, Mass.; two great-granddaughters, Kelly Wass and Katherine Bush; and two sisters, Claire Berndt, Cranston, R.I., and Gloria Cilley, Warwick, R.I.
She was predeceased by three brothers, George Bischoff, Adolph Bischoff, and William Bischoff; three sisters, Elizabeth Marchant, Dorothy Shein and Louise Clark; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Wass.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Barrington, R.I.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Michael David Elam
CENTER OSSIPEE - Michael David Elam, 44, of Patch Pond Road in Center Ossipee, died Sept. 2, 2000, at his home due to complications of HIV/AIDS.
He was born in Overland, Kan., and attended Rockhurst College, Penn Valley College, and the University of Missouri, Kan. He had lived in Kansas City, Kan., Dallas, Texas, and San Diego, Calif., where he worked in hotel management. He moved to Center Ossipee in 1995.
For the past 10 years he had pursued his ambition in counseling and helping people reach their own goals, connecting with their hearts and souls. He will be greatly missed for his love, support and encouragement by all who knew him.
He is survived by his partner of 7 1/2 years, Wiley Beveridge of Center Ossipee; a brother, Patrick Elam; and a niece.
At Michael's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Little White Church in Eaton. Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road in Center Ossipee, is in charge of the arrangements.
