F. Eliot DeHaro

MADISON - F. Eliot DeHaro, 87, of Route 41 in Silver Lake, died Oct. 14, 2000, at the Sunbridge Care of North Conway.
He was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Boston, Mass., the son of the late John F. and Elizabeth (Cain) DeHaro. He had lived in Boston for several years where he attended local schools, and later moved to Foxboro, Mass., where he had lived for 30 years.
He was married to his beloved wife of 60 years, the late Dorothea (Anderson) DeHaro. He and his wife retired to Silver Lake in 1977.
DeHaro had worked for the John Hancock Insurance Co. in Boston for 47 years. He was a U.S. World War II Navy veteran.
DeHaro is survived by his children, Stephanie DeHaro-Smith, Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., Eliot Wardwell DeHaro, Marlboro, Mass., and Sharon DeHaro-Boatwright, Roswell, Ga.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Charlene, Mark and Emily; and two great granddaughters, Isabella and Christina. He is also survived by a sister.
Calling hours will be held today (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Moultonville Road in Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Madison Church. Burial will be in the Chocorua Cemetery in Chocorua.

Philip B. Pinkham

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. - Philip B. Pinkham, 75, of Post Road, former owner of Sherman Screw Inc., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at Westerly Hospital in Westerly, R.I.
He was the husband of Elinor V. (Maynard) Pinkham. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Valentine and Elisabeth (Browning) Pinkham. He had lived in Warwick before moving to Charleston in 1982.
He was a machinist for Sherman Screw Products Inc. and the owner and president of the company for 13 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Mount Moriah Lodge 8 F. & A.M. He was also a member of the 376th Bomb Group Association.
He was former president and deacon of the Norwood Baptist Church in Warwick and a former president, deacon and current member of the First Baptist Church of Charlestown.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Fay of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Barbara Pinkham of Conway; and two grandchildren, Krissa Fay and Philip J. Hanlon.
Funeral took place at the First Baptist Church of Charlestown. Burial took place in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. in Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kidney Patients of Westerly, R.I., P.O. Box 3025, Westerly, R.I. 02891.

Ethel H. Turcotte

FRYEBURG - Ethel H. Turcotte, 102, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at the Fryeburg Health Care Center.
She was born in Fryeburg, the daughter of William and Florence Day Howard and was educated in Fryeburg schools and Shaw's Business School in Portland. She worked a short while as a proof reader at the Portland Press Herald.
Her husband, Herbert Turcotte, died in 1942. She is survived by one son, H. Richard Turcotte, of Franklin; two daughters, Florence Haley, of Fryeburg, and Pauline Lowd, of Woodburn, Ore.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in North Fryeburg. Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.

Earl B. Randall

JACKSON - Earl B. Randall, 73, of Jackson, died on October 5, 2000. There will be no services per his wishes. He is survived by a daughter, Candace Randall; a son, Stephen Randall; long-time companion, Janet Green of Jackson and six grandchildren.
Donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Harold E. Wain

CONWAY - Harold E. Wain, 90, died unexpectedly Oct. 9, 2000, at his home in North Conway. Born in Lynn, Mass., the son of John and Alice (Ward) Wain, he lived on Charger Street in Revere, Mass., for most of his life before moving to North Conway in 1990.
He was employed by the former Loring Motors in Salem, Mass., for 45 years. During World War II, he worked in the Boston Naval Shipyard.
Wain was known for his love of music and for the Mount Washington Valley.
His family includes, a son, Jeffrey L. Wain and his wife, Vivien, of Kearsarge; and two granddaughters, Kristen M. Kane of Wolliston, Mass., and Stephanie J. Kane of Manhattan, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Georgiana 0. Wain, in 1990.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Fall River, Mass. There will be no visiting hours. The Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway is in charge of arrangements.

James A. Moulton

HIRAM, Maine - James A. Moulton, 80, of 84 Douglas Road, died unexpectedly at his home on Oct. 8, 2000.
He was born on March 9, 1920, in Hiram, the son of Herbert and Ethel Clemons Moulton.
Moulton was educated at Mt. Cutler School in Hiram and graduated from Fryeburg Academy as valedictorian in 1939. He graduated with highest distinction from the University of Maine in Orono in 1943 with a major in animal husbandry. He attended graduate school at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
Moulton was a lifelong farmer who raised registered Hereford cattle with his brother, Elwin.
He was a member of the Hiram Congregational Church, and a lifetime member of the Mt. Cutler Grange, as well as the National Grange.
He enjoyed watching and participating in sports, and following local and national politics.
He was very civic minded, and he served on the Hiram School Board, appeals board and budget committee.
Moulton was the great, great, great grandson of Gen. Peleg Wadsworth, of Revolutionary War fame.
He was a devoted husband and father, and was kind, caring, quiet and studious.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Murphy and five brothers, Harold, Lester, Robert, Elwin and Arthur Moulton.
Surviving him are his wife of 42 years, M. Susan Douglas Moulton of Hiram; two daughters, Margaret E. Moulton of North Conway and Amy L. Wentworth of Hiram; two sons, James D. Moulton of Hiram and Nathan E. Moulton of Windham; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Force of Harpswell and Helen Haines of Massachusetts.
A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Hiram Community Church on Hancock Avenue in Hiram. Pastor Beverly Blaisdell will officiate. Donations may be made to Sacopee Rescue, P.O. Box 367, Parsonfield, Maine 04047.
Arrangements are by Neal and York Funeral Home of Kezar Falls.

Mabel Girard

GRANBY, Quebec - Mrs. Mabel Girard, 66, of Granby, Quebec, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at Marie Berthe Couture nursing home.
Mrs. Girard is survived by two daughters, Josee Bourbeau, MD, of Gorham, and France Bourbeau, of Gatineau, Hull; four grandchildren, Christine and Julie Cote, and Philippe and Sophie Coderre; a brother and sisters.
A mass will be celebrated today, Wednesday, at Notre Dame Church in Granby, Quebec.

Winifred N. Cressey

FRYEBURG - Winifred N. Cressey, 77, of Silver Pines Apartments in Fryeburg, died Saturday Oct. 7, 2000, at her home.
She was born in Limington, the daughter of Arthur and Martha Burrill Brown, and graduated from the old Bean Memorial High School in Brownfield. She lived in West Baldwin for many years and worked 14 years for the Kezar Falls Woolen Mill, and later worked for Hiram Woodcroft. She moved to Fryeburg in 1993.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Asa Noble and Leon Cressey.
She is survived by two brothers, Frank Brown of Zephyrhills Fla., and Arnold Brown of Hiram; and one sister Georgina White of Bangor.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the West Baldwin Cemetery, with the Rev. Greg Young officiating.
Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.

Rev. George W. Wickersham II, Service

A celebration of the life of the Rev. George W. Wickersham II, who died Saturday, Sept. 9 in Virginia, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews-in-the-Valley Church on Old Route 25 in Tamworth. The Associated Churches will conduct the service.
"Wick," as he was lovingly known, was the guiding light for what was called the "Tamworth Experiment," which became known as the Tamworth Associated Churches, a form of which still exists. He influenced the lives of many young people and created a spiritual environment in which the Episcopal, Baptist and Congregation Churches of Tamworth worshipped together. He served the community from 1957 to 1969.

Rev. George W. Wickersham II

ROCKBRIDGE BATHS, Va. - The Rev. George W. Wickersham II of Rockbridge Baths, Va., died on Sept. 9, 2000, of heart failure. He was 87.
Dr. Wickersham had held Episcopal parishes in New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Virginia. He also twice held "exchange parishes" in England.
During World War II, he served as a chaplain with the United States Marines.
At the time of his death, he was rector emeritus of St. Luke's Church in Hot Springs, Va.; honorary associate of Trinity-St. John's Church, Hewlett, Long Island, N.Y., and honorary cannon emeritus of the Cathedral of St. John Divine, New York City.
He was also the only American member of the Confraternity of Benefactors of Salisbury Cathedral.
He authored several books and innumerable articles in newspapers and church publications.
He was a graduate of St. Mark's School in Southborough, Mass., Harvard University and Virginia Theological Seminary. The latter institution awarded him a doctor in divinity degree in 1967.
Dr. Wickersham's chief interests were in association with prisoners and young people, the ecumenical movement, music, athletics and art.
The continued construction of New York's huge cathedral and the restoration of Salisbury Cathedral occupied much of his time.
For the 12 middle years of his ministry, he was pastor of a Baptist church (U.S.), a congregational church and an Episcopal church - all at the same time, a unique undertaking.
He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Wistar Craighill; their daughter, Nancy W. Leonhard; three grandchildren, Katharine Langhorne Beard, Elizabeth C. Kiem and Nathaniel Alan Leonhard; and four great-grandchildren.
