Richard Fransoso

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Richard Fransoso, 67, passed away on Saturday, April 13 2002, at his home in Delray Beach, after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1934, in Portsmouth, N.H., son of Americo and Mary (Duke) Fransoso. He attended local schools and graduated from Portsmouth High School, Class of 1952.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February 1953 and served his country proudly during the Korean War. In July 1957, he entered the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as an apprentice electrician, graduating in 1961 with honors. He soon became a foreman and general foreman in the early years of his career. In 1976, he was promoted to production superintendent, followed by group superintendent in 1978, and nuclear production manager in 1988.

Mr. Fransoso received numerous awards for outstanding achievements including Nuclear Production Manager of the Year in 1987, as well as the Action 88 Excellence Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in productivity that same year. In June 1989, he was awarded the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award for 36 years of faithful government service. He continued his dedicated civil service career at the shipyard until his retirement in December 1989.

He was married to the former Arlene Renaud and they had four children, Richard Fransoso of Portsmouth, Liza Martin of Boca Raton, Joseph Fransoso of Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island in Fla., Fortuna of Viera, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole; his children and their spouses; grandchildren, Katelyn Martin, Michael Fransoso and Jessica Fransoso; a devoted brother, John Fransoso of Wollaston, Mass., and his spouse; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Fransoso was surrounded by a loving family during his illness.

A memorial service will be held in Portsmouth at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent to Mrs. Liza Martin, 10770 Maple Chase Drive Boca Raton, FL 33498.

Oraville Piche’

YORK, Maine - Oraville M. Piche’, 87, of 5 North St., York, formerly of Kittery, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.

A graveside service will be held in Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery, on Tuesday, April 23, at 11 a.m. There will be no visiting hours. Family flowers only.

Memorial donations may be made to Harbor Nursing Home, 2 Norwood Farms Road, York Harbor, ME 03911; or York Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 238, York, ME 03909.

Norman Quirion

ROCHESTER - Norman A. Quirion, 70, of 25 Walnut St., died Saturday morning, April 20, 2002, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Rajane (Cyr) Quirion.

Arrangements will be announced by H.J. Grondin & Son Funeral & Cremation Services, 177 North Main St., Rochester.

Thomas Smith

RAYMOND - Thomas C. Smith, 79, of 91 Harriman Hill Road, died Friday, April 19, 2002, at his home.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 28, 1922, a son of Charles and Grace (Murphy) Smith.

He was a graduate of Lawrence High School in Fairfield, Maine, and Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Smith was employed as a dispatcher for M. J. Morrissette. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years for Ray the Mover in Newington.

He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 322 in Exeter. As a lover of the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, May (Palm) Smith; his children, Thomas H. "Butch" Smith of York, Maine, Tammy J. Martel of Strafford, Carol A. Smith of Raymond and Carl H. Shaw of Kittery, Maine; several grandchildren; a brother, Robert Smith of Vasselboro, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Friends invited. Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Family flowers only.

Donations in his memory may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833; or to R.S.V.P., 245 Middle St., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Ruth P. Tibbetts

GILFORD - Ruth P. (Dockham) Tibbetts, 85, of 303 Old Lakeshore Road, Gilford, died early Saturday morning, April 27, 2002, at Lakes Region General hospital, Laconia.

She was born April 24, 1917, in Gilford, the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Fisher) Dockham. She had attended the Laconia School system and was a lifelong resident of the Laconia/Gilford area.

She was employed for many years in the needle department of Scott & Williams. After her retirement, she dedicated her life to friends and family, especially cherishing her role as grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald C. Tebbetts of Fairfield, Conn., Rich A. Tebbetts of Gilford, and Rockwell C. Tebbetts of Gilford; a daughter, Judith A. Ramsay of Laconia; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Jordan of Laconia and Betty Forbes of Courtland, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph C. Tibbetts, who died May 2001, to whom she had been married for 62 years.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Rebecca A. Tebbetts of Gilford, who died in 1991, three brothers, Charles Dockham of South Carolina, Victor Dockham of Gilford, and Daniel Dockham of Laconia, seven sisters, Myrta Forbes of Homer, N.Y., Neva Sanborn of Laconia, Emmel MacDonald of Manchester, Beryl Fountain of Gilford, Reba Reever of Lakeport, Hattie Langill of Laconia and Agnes Ducharme of Lakeport.

Calling hours will be today from 6-8 p.m. in the Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 30, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Quirk, Pastor of St. Timothy Church, Bristol, officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Health and Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia, NH 03246.

Willard T. Blaisdell

EAST ROCHESTER - Willard T. Blaisdell, 81, of 67 Autumn St., died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a period of failing health.

Born March 15, 1921 in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late Roy L. and Annie (Smith) Blaisdell. Mr. Blaisdell graduated from Dover High School.

He has resided in East Rochester since 1954 and had worked as a sheet metal worker at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years.

He enjoyed history and was an avid stamp collector. He was a member of Pomona Grange for over 70 years.

Members of his family include his wife of 12 years, Hazel H. Hilton Blaisdell of East Rochester; two sons, Willard J. Blaisdell of Sanbornton, Richard T. Blaisdell of Rochester; a daughter, Eleanor Harding of Rochester; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his fist wife, Ruth Blaisdell, and his son, Charles R. Blaisdell in 1999.

Family and friends may visit today from 7-9 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Samuel S. Pendelton officiating. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery, Franklin Street, Rochester.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Mormon Church, c/o Samuel Pendelton, Somersworth Ward, 30 Quarry Drive, Rochester, NH 03867.

Ruby Moore

NORTHFIELD - Mrs. Ruby (Virgin) Moore, 92, formerly of Northfield Village Apartments in Northfield, died at Merrimack County Nursing Home on April 26, 2002.

She was born in Lochmere, on Dec. 15, 1909, the daughter of James and Bessie (Davis) Virgin.

Over the years, Mrs. Moore resided in Titusville, Pa., and Shellcamp Lake in Gilmanton.

For several years, Mrs. Moore was employed as a clerk and stenographer at the New Hampshire Dept. of Transportation. She was also formerly employed at the Taylor Home and Belknap County Nursing Home, both in Laconia. She was a member of the Mt. Hope Chapter #5 of The Eastern Star and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tilton.

She was the widow of Clyde M. Moore who died in 1977.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jennie Brewington, and brothers William Virgin Sr. and Charles Virgin.

Private funeral services will be held at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield, with the Rev. Janet Lombardo officiating. Burial will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery, Gresham, Pa.

Donations in memory of Mrs. Moore may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Main St., Tilton, NH 03276.

Beatrice Bartlett

MEREDITH - Beatrice Minerva Bartlett, 99, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at the Golden View Health Care Center.

Born in West Medford, Mass., on Nov. 23, 1902, she was the daughter of Leslie and Jennie (French) Tyler. She was one of seven children.

She attended public schools in Medford, Mass., and was a graduate of Fisher Business College in Boston. She resided for 55 years in the house she and her husband shared in Claremont and moved to the Meredith region in the late 1980s.

She met her husband, Gordon Bartlett, while they were both employed by the Claremont Daily Eagle newspaper. She and Gordon were married for 54 years, celebrating their golden anniversary in 1973.

She was active in the Universalist Church in Claremont for many years and recently attended the Moultonboro United Methodist Church. She joined the Order of Eastern Star of New Hampshire in 1954 and was a member and served as matron, with her husband as patron, of Woodman Chapter No. 26 OES of Claremont. She became worthy grand matron of the State of New Hampshire OES from 1972-1973. She was awarded the Grand Cross of Colors from the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She served as a Grand Representative in New Hampshire. She held a dual membership in Ellacoya Chapter No. 43 OES, in Holderness.

She was a 4H club leader in her younger years and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, painting and playing the organ.

She was predeceased by her husband who died in August of 1977, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Shaw of North Charlestown and Barbara Davis of Meredith; a son-in-law, Kenneth Davis of Meredith; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, routes 3 and 104, Meredith, on Monday 7-9 p.m. The Ellacoya Chapter No. 43 OES will hold a service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 p.m. The Rev. Mark Brady, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Moultonboro, will officiate. Burial will be held in the Hope Hill Cemetery, North Charlestown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Meredith Public Health Nurses Association, PO Box 176, Meredith, NH 03253; or to the American Cancer Society N.H. Division, 369 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110.
