Robert D. Cyr

TILTON - Robert Donald Cyr, 62, of 97 High St., died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the Franklin Regional Hospital, following a period of failing health.

He was born in Laconia on Sept. 18, 1941, the son of Donald P. Cyr, who died in 1997, and Vivian R. (Guyer) Cyr, who died in 1981.

Mr. Cyr was a lifelong resident of Tilton and graduated from Tilton High School.

He worked for many years at the former Cormier Hosiery Mills in Laconia and Franklin and later worked for over 18 years with the Tilton Highway Department.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Laconia, Past Master and Past Patron of the Sunapee Lake Grange and Jr. Grange.

He enjoyed fund-raising for local charities and ran his sausage cart, donating all proceeds. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved to cook and had a vast collection of cookbooks at his home.

He was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Tilton.

He was predeceased by his stepmother, Olive May (Wells) Cyr, who died in 2003.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Sandra L. (Brown) Cyr of Tilton; a son, Michael G. Fitzpatrick of Tilton ; three stepbrothers, Richard E. Simonds Jr. of Belmont, Daniel F. Simonds of Franklin and David R. Simonds of Franklin; four stepsisters, Marie E. Callahan of Downingtown, Pa., Eleanor B. Hardey of Boscawen, Eugenia I. Clark of Belmont and Edna M. Cupples of Franklin; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. in the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Tilton at a later date.

The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Rescue Squad, Tilton-Northfield Fire Department, 12 Center St., Tilton, NH 03276.

Greta L. Shaw

CENTER HARBOR - Greta Lillian (Sykes) Shaw, 80, of Center Harbor, formerly of Plaistow, died on Jan. 28, 2004, at Tufts-New England Medical Center, Boston.

Born in Derby Line, Vt., on July 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Gordon B. and Ella M. (Bennett) Sykes.

She resided in Plaistow for 53 years, prior to moving to Center Harbor in 1986.

Mrs. Shaw attended Pollard Elementary School in Plaistow, Mass., and Haverhill High School, Haverhill, Mass. She also attended the Elliot Pearson School for Kindergarten Teachers, Lowell State College, Lowell Mass., and the University of New Hampshire, Durham.

She was the founder and director of Sweet Hill Kindergarten and Nursery School, Plaistow, in 1959, which she ran for 20 years. Prior to that she taught at Rachel Strand’s School for Little Children, Haverhill, Mass. She also had a broker’s license and sold real estate for Dick Lunt Real Estate in the mid-1970s. She retired in 1979 due to illness.

Despite many illnesses throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Shaw was very active in the community.

While living in Plaistow she was a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 45 years. She was a founder and first president of the church’s Triangle Guild and was a member of the Ladies Social Circle. She was a former member and president of the Pollard School PTA, Plaistow; Pythian Sisters, Plaistow; Liberty Grange, Plaistow; North Parish Grange, Haverhill, Mass.; and the local, state and national Republican Club. She was a member of the state and national Association for the Education of Young Children. She was also very involved in the local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

After her retirement and move to Center Harbor in 1986, she was a member of the Center Harbor Congregational Church, the church’s sewing group and the Inter-Lakes Fifty Plus Club.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Elwood D. Shaw; a daughter, Pamela J. of Newburyport, Mass.; a son, Michael K. and his wife Lisa A. of Meredith; a granddaughter, Sarah E. of Newburyport, Mass.; a brother, Gordon B. Sykes and his wife Rita of Plaistow; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Shaw of Plaistow; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the First Baptist Church, 122 Main St., Plaistow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Mrs. Shaw’s memory, to the First Baptist Church, 122 Main St., PO Box 144, Plaistow NH 03865-0144; or the Meredith Public Health Nursing Association, 45 Route 25, Meredith NH 03243.

The Cremation Society of NH is in charge of the arrangements.

Mabel Anderson

ROCKVILLE, Conn. - Mabel (Boothroyd) Anderson, 94, of Rockville, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Born in Rockville, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Maude (Robertson) Boothroyd. She had lived in New Hampshire for many years, returning to Rockville in 1977.

She had worked at Scott & Williams Inc. and at the Laconia State School and Training Center before her retirement.

She is survived by her brother, Harry Boothroyd of Wallingford; her sister, Laura Zahner of Ellington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Ernest, Charles and Albert Boothroyd and her sisters, Grace Hanson and Betty Coughlin.

Funeral services were held today, July 2, at 9 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, Vernon, Conn. Burial was held in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville. Memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Federation for the Blind, Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT 06108.

Lois R. Reynolds

GILFORD - Mrs. Lois R. Reynolds, 84, of 13 Haywagon Road, died at the St. Francis Home, Laconia, on Monday, July 1, 2002.

Mrs. Reynolds was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Tipton, Ind., the daughter of Luther L. and Ora M. (Armstrong) Fillebrown.

Mrs. Reynolds lived in Huntington, N.Y., for several years before moving to Gilford more than 20 years ago. She worked for 25 years for Helena Rubenstein, which later merged with Colgate-Palmolive.

Mrs. Reynolds was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Gilford and was a member of the Tuesday Arts and Crafts Club. She was a volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital and the American Red Cross for many years and worked part-time for the United Way.

Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn L. Bray and her husband, Richard, of Gilford and Judith A. Hogan and her husband, Thomas, of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.; six grandsons; three great-grandsons; three step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; a sister, Margelia Coyner of Beechgrove, Ind.; and many nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 500 Gilford Ave., Gilford, on Thursday, July 4, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Victoria Wood Parrish, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home, 406 Court St., Laconia, NH 03246 or to Community Health & Hospice Inc., 780 No. Main St., Laconia, NH 03246.

The Rev. A.L. Boulanger

MANCHESTER - The Rev. Albert L. Boulanger, 73, of Manchester, died June 30, 2002, at the Peterson Residence after a long illness.

He was born in Goffstown on June 30, 1929, the son of Donat L. and Marie Louise (Beaudet) Boulanger.

After graduating from Goffstown High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then attended St. Anselm College and St. Mary University and Seminary in Baltimore, Md. He was ordained in 1962 by the Most Rev. Ernest J. Primeau, S.T.D., Bishop of Manchester. The Rev. Boulanger served as an assistant pastor at many parishes across the state before his appointment as pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Cascade in 1974 and as pastor of St. Agnes Parish in Ashland in 1976.

In addition to his parochial ministry he also served as a notary in the matrimonial tribunal from 1966 to 1972 and as chaplain at Manchester area nursing homes and Mt. Carmel Home from 1991 to 2000. He retired from active ministry in August 2000.

Family members include two sisters, Estelle Normand of Manchester and Teresa Richard of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, Donat H. Boulanger of Spring Hill, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet Beebe

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Janet McKinney Beebe, 87, of Naples, died Sept. 24, 2002, at a local hospital. Mrs. Beebe had been a resident of Naples since 1972, coming from Nashua, N.H.

She was the daughter of Guy B. and Rachel Gilmore McKinney and lived with them in Waban, Mass., until her marriage in June of 1936. She was a graduate of Wellesley College class of 1936 and held several class offices. She was the first president of the Wellesley Club of Naples.

The Beebes lived in Nashua, N.H., for 34 years, where Mr. Beebe was owner and president of Beebe Rubber Co. until his retirement in 1969. Mrs. Beebe was active in community affairs in Nashua, the Good Cheer Nursing Association, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Congregational Church.

Mrs. Beebe is survived by her husband of 66 years, E. Coleman Beebe Sr. of Naples; son and daughter-in-law, Ned and Cindy Beebe of Gilford, N.H. and Naples; daughter, Margaret L. Nuckols of New Canaan, Conn.; sister, Louise M. Lohman of Cupertino, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at Walter Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Tr. S., Bonita Springs, Fla. Memorials are suggested to Wellesley College, Office for Resources, 106 Central St., Wellesley, MA 02481-8203.

Thelma M. Cunningham

ALTON - Mrs. Thelma M. Cunningham, 90, a resident of the Epsom Manor, Epsom, since 1997, and formerly of Alton Bay, died at the Concord Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002. She was the widow of Omer Cunningham, who died in 1951.

Mrs. Cunningham was born Feb. 4, 1912 in Limington, Maine, the daughter of George W. and Allie (Merserve) Horne. She lived in Alton Bay for most of her life. She resided at Heritage Heights in Concord for a few years before she became a resident of Epsom Manor.

Survivors include a son, Albert E. Cunningham of Pittsfield; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Horne, and by a sister, Beulah Thompson.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. at the family lot at the Old Riverside Cemetery in Alton. Mrs. Cunningham’s nephew, the Rev. Robert Horne of Laconia, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epsom Manor Activities Fund, 901 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom, NH 03234.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.
