Freelon M. Watson Jr.

TILTON - Freelon M. Watson Jr., 76, of Jacobs Road in Tilton, died at the Franklin Region Hospital in Franklin Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, following a long illness.

He was born in Lochmere, Aug. 9, 1926, the son of Freelon M. Sr. and Mildred (Jones) Watson. He lived in Tilton all of his life and attended schools there.

He was employed as a base maker for the former Arwood Corporation and later Wyman Gordon in Northfield, retiring after 37 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Lochmere Baptist Church in Lochmere.

Mr. Watson enjoyed picking blueberries in his back yard and dining out.

His family includes his wife of 55 years, Mildred M. (Jones) Watson of Tilton; his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Diane Watson of Tilton; his daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Bill Martin of Tilton; one grandson, Jacques Watson; two great-granddaughters, Rebecca and Trisha Charles; two sisters, Louise Barnard of Tilton and Marjorie Greemore of Meredith.

According to Freelon’s wishes there are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Lochmere Baptist Church in Lochmere. The Rev. Ralph Maxwell, pastor, will officiate.

Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the Lochmere Baptist Church at P.O. Box 12, Lochmere, NH 03252.

The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton is in charge.

Joseph E. Levasseur

LACONIA - Joseph E. Levasseur, 47, of 60 Morrill St. died at his home on Monday, Sept. 30, 2002.

Born Aug. 15, 1955 in Manchester, Mr. Levasseur was the son of Alice (Dumoulin) Levasseur and the late Elie W. Levasseur. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Gilford.

In addition to his mother of Laconia, he is survived by two sons, Christian Elie Levasseur and Steven Joseph Levasseur, both of Laconia; two nieces and many cousins.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, from 9-10 a.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.

Alice E. Beaudoin

SALISBURY - Alice E. (Rand) Beaudoin, 92, a longtime resident of Salisbury, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at Concord Hospital.

She was born in Bradford July 16, 1910, daughter of Glea and Blanche (Cheney) Rand. She attended school in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth Normal School in 1932.

She lived in Salisbury for 53 years before she became a resident of the Merrimack County Nursing Home in 1992. A school teacher for many years, she taught at various schools including Waterville Valley, Meredith Center, Salisbury and Boscawen Elementary School.

Mrs. Beaudoin was a member of the Salisbury Congregational Community Church in Salisbury, where she served as choir director, organist and treasurer for many years. She was active with the Ladies Aide.

She was predeceased by a brother, George Rand.

Her family includes her husband of 65 years, Rene Beaudoin of Boscawen; three sons, Edward R. Beaudoin of Contoocook, John K. Beaudoin of Okinawa, Japan, and Walter L. Beaudoin of Belmont; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Oscar Rand of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Olive Rand of Plymouth; nieces and nephews.

According to Alice’s wishes, there are no calling hours planned. A graveside service and burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in the spring, at a date and time to be announced. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Resident Activities Fund, Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303. The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Peterson

GILFORD - The family and friends of Betty (Sherman) Peterson, formerly of 15 Bacon Drive, Gilford, who died Feb. 20, 2003, in Orlando, Fla., are invited to attend her funeral and committal services which will be held Friday, June 6, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford, with Mrs. Sara Allen, LCLP, and the Rev. Leonard Zecchini officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.

The Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia, is in charge of arrangements.

Rosemary H. Hawkins

PITTSFIELD - Rosemary H. Hawkins, 82, of Laconia and Pittsfield, died at her home on April 26, 2003.

She was a native of Vermont and a graduate of Springfield Nursing School in 1946. She completed her education at Simmons College in Boston.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 14, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2238 Parade Road, Laconia.

Alfred A. Atkinson

LACONIA - A graveside service for Alfred A. Atkinson who died on Jan. 3, 2003, will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the family lot in Union Cemetery, Academy Street, Laconia.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.

Edward T. Blakeney

GILMANTON - Edward T. Blakeney, 62, of Route 106, died July 26, 2003, in the Hospice House in Concord.

He was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, on June 6, 1941, the son of the late Oliver W. and Eva M. (Larty) Blakeney.

He was a graduate of Laconia High School, class of 1960, and attended Arizona State University.

A graphic artist, he was employed for 16 years by the Bovie Screen Process Printing Company of Bow. He was self-employed for several years and has spent the last three years in production and marketing with Sign-A-Rama in Concord.

He is survived by two sons, Allan C. Blakeney of Manchester and Errol W. Blakeney of Amosville, Va.; a grandson, Jeremy Tyler Blakeney of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister, Sally Abbott and her husband Frank of Laconia; a brother Oliver E. Blakeney and his wife Geraldine of Rochester; nieces, nephews and his former spouse, Carol Gonyer of Manchester.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Blakeney was predeceased by a sister, Elsie R. McLean, in 1999 and a nephew, Dan E. Harbour of Denver, Colo., in April 2003.

There are no calling hours. A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 11:30 a.m. in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia. George Hankins-Hull, spiritual care coordinator of LRGHealthcare, will officiate.

Edward W. Bryson

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Edward "Ted" William Bryson, 68, a longtime resident of New Hampshire, died May 4, 2003, in Zephyrhills, following a period of failing health.

He was born in Franklin, N.H., Jan. 11, 1935, son of the late Louis and Florence (Jordon) Bryson. He attended Franklin Schools. He lived in Gilmanton for many years before moving to Florida in 1989.

Mr. Bryson served with the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a retired meat cutter and also worked with the Arwood Corp. in Northfield, N.H., Lakeport Landing, Laconia Water Company and Marcoux Heating and Plumbing in Laconia, N.H.

He was a former member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks and St. Petersburg, (Fla.) Lodge of Elks.

He enjoyed restoring homes.

He was of Roman Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald and Jack Bryson and one sister, Dorothea Alpaugh.

His family includes his wife of 48 years, Shirley (Champagne) Bryson (formerly of Laconia) of Zephyrhills; two sons, Donald J. Bryson of Zephyrhills and Dennis R. Bryson, serving in the U S. Coast Guard in Singapore; four brothers, Philip Bryson of Tilton, N.H., Raymond Bryson of Franklin, N.H., Dennis Bryson of Ashland, N.H., and Louis Bryson of Laconia, N.H.,; two sisters, Ruth Richardson of Woodstock, N.H., and Esther Cote of Ashland City, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Nicole and Ian Bryson of Singapore and Jessica and Sharon Bryson of Massachusetts; nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. Burial was in Florida.

The William F. Smart Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting family with local arrangements.

William P. Hamblet Sr.

MEREDITH - William P. Hamblet Sr., 64, of Powers Road, died July 28, 2003 at Lakes Region Hospital, in Laconia.

Born in Hartford, Conn., on Oct. 11, 1938, he grew up in Andover, Mass., and graduated from New Hampton School, in New Hampton. He attended the University of Maine and graduated from East Coast Aero Tech.

He resided in Salem for eight years and in Windham for 13 years. He has been a resident of Meredith for the past 18 years.

He was president and general manager of the Salem Coca-Cola Bottling Company, in Salem for 20 years. He had owned and operated and was treasurer of Y-Landing Marine Services, in Meredith for more than 20 years.

He served on the board of directors of Salem, Dover, Henderson and Weldon Coca-Cola Bottling Companies.

He was a charter member and past president of the Salem-Methuen Rotary Club, past president of the Y’s-Men’s Club of the Merrimack Valley YMCA, member of the Camping Services Board of Managers of the Merrimack Valley YMCA, and a member of Camp Lawrence Hall of Fame.

He also was the member of the Meredith Fire Department.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Phyllis (Seifert) Hamblet of Meredith; three sons, Cmdr. William P. Hamblet Jr. of Alexandria, Va., Robert S. Hamblet of Reston, Va. and David C. Hamblet of Meredith; five grandchildren; one sister, Patricia H. Petry of Jefferson, Maine; nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes 3 and 104, Meredith, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the Trinity Episcopal Church, Meredith, on Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Robin Thomas, rector, will be the celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Merrimack Valley YMCA Camping Services Branch, 7 Ballard Way, Lawrence, MA 01843, or the Wameist Engine Company, PO Box 494, Meredith, NH 03253, or the Altrusa Club Scholarship Fund, PO Box 760, Meredith, NH 03253.
