Louis Rinaldi Sr.

MOULTONBORO - Louis Rinaldi Sr., 93, of 3 Leopard Leap, died at the Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003.

Mr. Rinaldi was born April 28, 1910 in Manhattan, N.Y., the son of Louis and Maria Rinaldi.

Mr. Rinaldi worked for Miller & Druck as a stone mason. He lived in Newport Richey, Fla., for several years before moving to Moultonboro four years ago.

He attended St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Meredith.

Survivors include a son, Richard Rinaldi of Moultonboro; a daughter, Marie Marra of Sandwich; four grandchildren, Stacey McDonough of Plaistow, Christine Marie Cullimore of New Durham and Stephen Marra and Robert Marra both of Moultonboro; six great-grandchildren, Josephine McDonough of Plaistow and Joseph Marra, Emily Marra, Robert Marra Jr., Nick Marra and Jennifer Marra all of Moultonboro; a brother, Charles Rinaldi of Hudson, Fla.; and three nieces, Marilyn, Charlotte and Christine. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Josephine (Casabona) Rinaldi, who died in 2000 and by a son, Louis R. Rinaldi Jr. who died in 1985.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 300 NH Route 25, Meredith. The Rev. Richard B. Thompson, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements. .

John R. Largent Jr.

PLYMOUTH - John "Jack" R. "Jack" Largent Jr., 88, of Cooper Street, died on Nov. 13, 2003 at his home.

He was born in Beaver, Pa., on Nov. 14, 1914, the son of John R. and Ruth (Barnett) Largent Sr.

Mr. Largent had been a resident of Plymouth for 52 years, coming from Sanbornton. He owned and operated a Citco gas station on Main Street for many years. He was last employed by the high school as the head custodian for 15 years.

Mr. Largent was a Marine and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a radar operator. He was a member of the Marine Corps League.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Josephine Coe (Beam) Largent of Plymouth; two daughters, Judith J. Largent of Plymouth and Jacqueline G. Wheeler of Enfield; one son, John R. Largent III of Enfield; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are private. Mayhew Funeral Home, Plymouth, is in charge of the arrangements.

Alphonse O. Plourde

GILMANTON - Alphonse O. "Al" Plourde, 80, died Sunday, Nov. 16. 2003 at the Concord Hospital after an extended illness.

Born in Suncook on Oct. 27, 1923, he was the son of Philippe and Delphine (Boudreau) Plourde.

He spent his early life in Suncook and had been a Gilmanton resident for the past 50 years.

Mr. Plourde was a retired cement mason and a talented athlete. He played amateur hockey for the Nashua Royals and the Manchester Maple Leafs. He boxed professionally in Maine and New Hampshire. He played semi-pro baseball for the Concord Sunset League, the Manchester League and the Suncook town team. He was also a snowshoe racing champion in New Hampshire and Canada. Later in life Mr. Plourde enjoyed collecting antiquities.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a life member of the American Legion Post 28 in Suncook.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Priscilla (Browning) Plourde of Gilmanton; one son, Gary Plourde of Gilmanton; two daughters, Carol Kasold of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Cheryl Baxter of Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Aurea Lamy and Rita Beauchesne, both of Suncook, and Gloria Lamy of Manchester.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald Clinton, pastor. Urn burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main St., Laconia, NH 03246.

Frances L. Evans

LACONIA - Frances L. Evans, 89, of 266 South Main St., Laconia, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2003, at the Epsom Manor, Epsom.

She was born Sept. 17, 1914, in Greenland, and had spent her adult life as a resident of Laconia.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a baker for several local Laconia establishments.

She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Lakeport, and will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life. She also enjoyed spending time with the many friends she made.

She is survived by the numerous friends she acquired throughout her long life.

Friends are invited to attend memorial services on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 4:30 p.m. in the Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia, with the Rev. Sharron Lamothe, pastor of the United Baptist Church of Lakeport, officiating. Burial will held in the spring of 2004 in Wicwas Cemetery, Meredith.

Alice Roberts

GILMANTON - Mrs. Alice Roberts, 83, of 102 Varney Road, Gilmanton Iron Works died at the Concord Hospice House, Concord, on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003.

Mrs. Roberts was born Jan. 25, 1920, in Merrimac, Mass., the daughter of George A. and Elizabeth (Moore) Titcomb.

Mrs. Roberts lived in Pelham for several years before moving to Gilmanton Iron Works in 1973. She was a governess for the Hilberg Family of Laconia for many years.

Mrs. Roberts was a volunteer at Camp Fatima for 30 years. She made the costumes for the annual theme week for the Exceptional Citizens Week.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Chester E. Roberts of Gilmanton Iron Works; two daughters, Connie L. Hyslop of Gilmanton and Carolyn H. Lynch of Ipswich, Mass.; a son, Ernest G. Roberts of Loudon; a stepson, Malcolm E. Roberts of Wallingford, Conn.; eight grandchildren; a sister, Norma Doucette of North Berwick, Maine; and many nephews and nieces.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the family home at 102 Varney Road, Gilmanton Iron Works, on Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 2-8 p.m.

A private funeral service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CRVNA Hospice House Program, Hospice House, PO Box 1797, Concord, NH 03302.

Marie E. Snow

APOPKA, Fla. - Marie E. Snow, 85, of 2526 Walnut Heights Road, Apopka, died at Florida Hospital-Altamonte on March 25, 2004. She was the widow of Arthur J. Snow, who died in 1976.

Mrs. Snow was born in Belmont, N.H., on Nov. 24, 1918, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fortier) Sturgeon. She was a resident of Laconia, N.H., until October 2002, when she relocated to Georgia and then to Florida to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Peter Curran.

Mrs. Snow worked as the floor supervisor at Barberry Knitting Mills in Lakeport, N.H., for 26 years. She also worked at Gilbert Clock and retired from NH Ball Bearing Company in 1985.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and an active member of the Elder Friendship Club of Laconia. In Florida, she attended St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a faithful volunteer at the Forest Lake Church Thrift Store of Apopka.

Mrs. Snow was predeceased by her sister, Irene (Sturgeon) Ouellette of Laconia, N.H., and three brothers, Arthur, Albert and Gerard Sturgeon, all of Belmont, N.H.

Survivors include her daughter and spouse, Jackie (Snow) and Peter Curran of Apopka, Fla.; three grandchildren, Peter Curran Jr. and spouse, Janice (Lee), of San Francisco; Susan Curran and great-granddaughter, Jordan, of Apopka, Fla.; Elizabeth (Curran) Celtrick and spouse, Wallace, of Valencia, Spain; two brothers, Joseph (Leo) Sturgeon and spouse, Mary of San Antonio, Texas and William Sturgeon and spouse, Fern (Landry) of Laconia, N.H.; nieces and nephews.

Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Apopka, Fla., and Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, Laconia, N.H., are in charge of arrangements.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Laconia, N.H., on a date to be determined in May, followed by burial in the family lot in St. Lambert Cemetery in Laconia, N.H.

Raymond F. Ellsworth

GILFORD - Raymond F. Ellsworth, 69, of 190 Dockham Shore Road, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his home after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Mr. Ellsworth was born March 11, 1935 in Laconia, the son of Everard and Ethel (Hilliard) Ellsworth.

He was a lifelong resident of the Belmont and Gilford area and was a graduate of Belmont High School. He served three years in the Army and was stationed in Germany.

Mr. Ellsworth worked for 30 years as a salesman for J.J. Nissen. He was very active in all sports and was a coach for the Laconia Little League, the Gilford Little League and the Lou Athanas Youth Basketball League. He also was a softball and basketball referee. Mr. Ellsworth was a State Ping Pong Champion. He enjoyed golf and snowmobiling, but most of all, his greatest love was teaching his grandchildren ping pong.

He was a lifelong member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks 876 and was a member of the Belknap Snowmobile Club.

Mr. Ellsworth is survived by his wife of 45 years, Paula (Moore) Ellsworth of Gilford; a daughter, Rhonda Vitale of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sons, Rodney Ellsworth and his wife, Tracie, of Southbury, Conn., and Raymond Ellsworth of Concord; four grandchildren, Taylor, 10, Caitlin, 8, Cameron, 5, and McKenna, 3, all of Southbury, Conn.; two brothers; two sisters and several nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by a brother, Wendell Ellsworth.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 8, from 7-9 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. At 7 p.m. the Laconia Lodge of Elks will conduct a Session of Sorrow.

A memorial service will be held at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford, on Friday, April 9, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Graham, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Research Center, One Medical Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 N. Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
