Roseanna Doherty

LACONIA - Roseanna Doherty, 82, of Laconia died Aug. 1, 2004. in the Genesis Eldercare Network Laconia Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Laconia on Nov. 10, 1921, the daughter of William and Eva Marie (Gosselin) Maheux.
She was raised in Laconia and had resided in Meredith for almost 35 years. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Vogue Doll Factory as an assembler.
Her first husband, Alvin J. "Pete" Blunden, died on Feb. 4, 1980.
She was married to Joseph M. Doherty in 1982 and for a time lived in Newmarket and Rochester before returning to the Lakes Region in June 2002.

She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish and was an avid Bingo player.

Survivors include her husband, James M. Doherty of Laconia; a daughter, Eva Hurst and her husband, Stephen Hurst of Alton Bay; a son Raymond Blunden and his wife Denise Blunden of Merrimack; a stepson, Richard E. Doherty of Palm Coast, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Gorman, Robert Blunden, Karen Blunden, William Blunden, Jeremy Brier, Jason Brier and Jody Brier; four great-grandchildren, Makayla Gorman, Kyle Gorman, Christina Blunden and Nicole Blunden; a sister, Alice Doucet of Laconia; a brother, Antonio Maheux of Laconia; nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by several brothers and sisters as well as stepson and stepdaughter.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Meredith. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber are the funeral directors.

Larry Gagne

MANCHESTER - Larry Gagne, 68, of 380 Cypress St., formerly of Meredith, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

He was born in Meredith Oct. 26, 1935, the son of Margaret (Beach) Cogan of Meredith and the late Ernest Cogan.

Raised in Meredith, he graduated from Meredith High School in 1954. He was an Air Force veteran and retired as a technical sergeant. Upon his retirement, he was a computer specialist with the State of New Hampshire, working for 22 years within the Department of Informational Services. Later he worked for the Exxon-Mobil Corp., providing maintenance to several area facilities in New Hampshire, retiring in 2004.

He enjoyed bowling at the Stadium Ten Pin in Manchester and was a member of the local Lion's Club in Meredith.

He shared 32 years of marriage with Julie (Blanchette) Gagne.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include three sons, Larry Gagne, Jr. of Manchester, Paul D. Gagne of Oklahoma, and James Gagne of Manchester; four daughters, Judy Law of Ohio, Marlene Stevens of Indiana, Theresa Stromar of Indiana, and Chantelle Gagne of Concord; 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Ray Sleeper of Ohio, Ted Sleeper of Alabama, Martin Cogan of Virginia, and Dennis Cogan of Vermont; two sisters, Karen Sedgley of Tilton and Diann Nussbaum of Virginia Beach, Va.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Donna Sleeper and Joan Davis, and a brother, Sandy Sleeper.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Mayhew Funeral Home, Route 3 and Cataldo Road, Meredith on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Following cremation, burial will be in the Blair Cemetery, Campton.

George A Harris

TILTON - George Arnold Harris, 78, a resident of the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton since July 2003, died there Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 following a period of failing health.

He was born in Laconia, Sept. 13, 1925, son of the late Walter C. and Lulu (Blake) Harris.

He had previously lived in Gilmanton and on Gale Street in Belmont and also summered at his cottage on Plummer Shores in New Hampton.

He held a master’s degree and attended the University of New Hampshire and Plymouth State College.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice who died in 1979.

A music teacher, George was graduated from the New England-Boston Conservatory of Music. His teaching career included work for schools in Woodstock, Vt., Delmer, N.Y., South Colonie, N.Y., Norwalk, Conn., Belmont, Pittsfield, and Durham. He taught at Winnisquam Regional High School in Tilton for eight years before retiring in 1983.

George conducted the Moulton Band in Sanbornton for many years.

He was a former member of the Central Baptist Church and attended services at the Veterans Home.

Survivors include his second wife whom he married on July 16, 1993, Mary C. (Norris) Harris of Belmont; a stepson, William Harris; stepdaughters, Lucy and Beatrice; two brothers: Norman Harris of Natick, Mass., and Walter Harris Jr. of Gilford; a sister, Laural Harris Manchester; a sister: Dorothy Franceschi of Stoughton, Mass.; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the South Road Cemetery in Belmont.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the residents fund of the New Hampshire Veterans Home at P.O. Box 229, Tilton, N.H. 03276. The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Merrill T. Fitts Sr.

BELMONT _ Merrill T. Fitts Sr., 75, of 117 Lamprey Rd. died October 11, in his residence. He was born in Laconia on December 31, 1928, the son of Samuel Fitts Sr. and Emelia (Begin) Fitts. He was raised in Laconia and has resided in Belmont since 1968.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist by N.H. Ballbearing Co. He had also previously worked in that capacity at Cormier Hosiery Mills and Scott & Williams Co. Mr. Fitts served with the New Hampshire National Guard.

Family members include his wife Theresa (Pelchat) Fitts of Belmont; a daughter, Diana Lee and her husband, Steven Lee of Belmont; two sons, Merrill Thomas Fitts Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Belmont and Armand P. Fitts and his wife, Susan of Hill; 10 grandchildren, Steven Lee Jr., Jill Martucci, Heather Fitts, Brandon Fitts, Jeremiah Pike, Amber Fitts, Jennifer Pike, Katherine Fitts, Laura Meagan Fitts and Heather Rowell; a great grandson, Anthony Martucci; five brothers, Warren Fitts of Babylon N.Y., Ernest Fitts of Belmont, Armand Fitts of Gilford, Donald Fitts of Sanbornton and Philip Fitts of Laconia and nieces. nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Chrystal Fitts in 1989.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Adrien Longchamps will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia, N.H., 03246. The Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy A. Burnham

RUMNEY _ Dorothy A. Burnham, 83, of Old Route #25, died October 9 at the Speare Memorial Hospital, in Plymouth.

Born in Uxbridge, Mass., on June 2, 1921, she was the daughter of Frank S. and Bertha (Carr) Walker.

She grew up in the Uxbridge area and has been a resident of Rumney for the past 61 years.

She was a member of the West Rumney Community Church, the LaMontt-Kenneson Legion Post #76 Auxiliary in Rumney and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Auxiliary, in Warren.

She was predeceased by a son Bruce Burnham.

Survivors include her husband of 61 year, Francis M. Burnham of Rumney; two sons, Roger Burnham of Hebron and Frank Burnham of Holderness; one daughter, Jane Thibeault of Bridgewater; five grandhchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Walker of Westboro, Mass.; one sister, Deborah Westling of Holden, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held in the West Rumney Community Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev Lynn Johnson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Rumney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Rumney Community Church, Old Route #25, Rumney, NH. 03266. The Mayhew Funeral Home of Plymouth is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Ellen Franz

RUMNEY _ Ruth Ellen Franz, 80, of Route #118, died October 5 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon.

Born in Arlington, Mass., on October 21, 1923, she was the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Prentice) Perkins.

She grew up in Ashland, Mass., and graduated from Ashland High School. She earned her associate degree from Katherine Gibbs College, in Boston. She resided in Natick and Hopkinton, and has been a resident of Rumney since 1968.

She worked for several years as an office worker for several doctor's offices and for the Framingham Hospital, in Framingham, Mass. She also worked for Plymouth State College in the Registrar's office. She owned and operated the Jumble Shop in Rumney for more than 30 years.

She was a member and past president of the Belknap Button Society and member of the New Hampshire Button Society and the National Button Society and the Bridgewater Sewing Club. She was also a very active member of the Plymouth Senior Center, participating in the rug hooking class and the art class. She was a member and trombone player in the Baker Valley Band.

She was the wife of the late Alfred K. Franz, who died in September of 1990.

She is survived by five children, William S. Hood and wife Patricia of Fairhaven, Vt., Gregory T. Hood of Rumney, Alison Hood Maldanado and husband Charlie of Enfield, Andrea K. Franz of Waltham, Mass., Paul M. Franz and wife Janet of Shelburne, Vt.; two grandsons, Chase Maldanado and Adam Franz.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in the Plymouth Congregational Church, Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Judith Gooch, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Rumney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Mayhew Funeral Home of Plymouth is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Jane Theberge

LACONIA _ Mary Jane Theberge, 71, of Bellingham, Mass., and a former resident of Laconia, died October 9, in the Milford-Whitinsville Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Laconia on July 22, 1933, the daughter of William and Marie (Ferland) Lapierre.

She was raised in Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1952. For several years she was employed as a secretary at the former Laconia State School and Training Center. She has resided in Bellingham for the past 10 years. Mrs. Theberge was employed as a Nurse's Aide at the Ad Care Hospital in Worcester, Ma., until illness forced her retirement in 1992.

Devoted to her children and grandchildren, she was an avid soap opera fan.

Family members include a daughter, Bonnie Patrick of Millville, Ma., a son Joseph Theberge of Hudson, Ma.; five grandchildren, Kerri Patrick, Dustin Patrick, Chris Theberge, Cody Theberge and Courtney Theberge and several cousins.

A calling hour will be held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. to be immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, N.H. 03110 or visit www.cancer.org. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber are the funeral directors.

Minerva "Minnie" Helen (Brown) Michaud

TILTON _ Minerva "Minnie" H. Michaud, 81, formerly of 314 West Main Street, Tilton, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, October 09, at the Mountain Ridge-Genesis Elder Care in Franklin following a period of failing health.

Minerva "Minnie" Helen (Brown) Michaud

She was born in Burlington, Vt., Nov. 15, 1922, daughter of Henry and Helen (Douglass) Brown. Prior to moving to Tilton with her husband in 1975, Mrs. Michaud lived in Lynn, Ma., for more than 40 years. For a short time she resided with her daughter in Bristol. She was employed as a bookkeeper for several years where she met her husband and later worked with Howard-Johnson in Lynn as a waitress for 25 years. She was a foster grandparent with the Franklin School System and also was a class aide. She later worked craft shows featuring her handmade crocheted items. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry O. Michaud who died May 11, 1982.

Her family includes, three daughters, Carol A. Johnson, Lynn, Ma., Sally A. Harris, Bristol, Nancy L. Danforth, Northfield; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her lifelong friend, LaReine Lord Fort Meyers, Fla.

According to her wishes, there are no calling hours. A brief memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road, Tilton. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lynn, Mass.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Newfound Area Nursing Association, 214 Lake Street, Bristol, NH 03222. The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting her family with arrangements.

Inza H. Gile

CONCORD _ A memorial service in celebration of the life of Inza H. Gile, 100, a long-time resident of Franklin, who died August 23rd, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 17, in The Fred A. Smart Memorial Chapel at Tilton School, Summer Street, Tilton.

H.L. Young & Company Memorial Home, 175 South Main Street, Franklin is assisting the Gile family with arrangements.
