Viola Delisle

SOMERSWORTH - Viola L. Delisle, 83, of 28 Franlin St., died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover after a brief period of failing health.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Roberge Funeral Home.

Edith Geraci

PORTSMOUTH - Edith T. Geraci, 84, formerly of Thornton Street, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Portsmouth on Feb. 6, 1918, she was the daughter of Fred and Victoria (DeSanti) DeStefano and was a lifelong resident here.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, the Women’s Club, and the Sons of Italy.

She is survived by her sons, James Morrissey and his wife Gerry, Paul Geraci and his wife Diane, and Phil Geraci and his wife Kathy, all of Portsmouth; a daughter, Carla Nixon and her husband William of Yarmouth, Maine; a brother, Al. DeStefano of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Jim, Trisha, Kimberly, Sarah, Rachel, and Serik, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two husbands, Pierce Morrissey, who was killed in action in 1944 during World War II, and Carl "Blackie" Geraci, who died in 1987; two brothers, John and Dominic DeStefano, and a sister, Rose LeMarca.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Leonard Fifield

BRANDFORD, Conn. - Leonard G. Fifield, 64, of Wallingford, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at the Connecticut Hospice in Brandford.

Fifield was born in Laconia, N.H., on Oct. 8, 1937, the son of Leonard V. and Rita Eleanor (Pellerin) Fifield.

He served in the U.S. Army. Fifield worked as a toolmaker at Johnson and Johnson-Criticon of Southington for many years until his retirement.

Fifield was a member of the VFW Major Raoul Lufbery Post No. 591 in Wallingford, the Wallingford Lodge of Elks No. 1365, and the Falcons of Southington.

Fifield is survived by his wife, Ann Williamson (Leighton) Fifield; his parents, of New Britain and Hallandale, Fla.; his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and George Hary of New Britain; his brother, Wayne Fifield of Oregon; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Russ Warner of Wallingford, and Jennie and David Scott of Cocoa, Fla.; his sons and daughter-in-law, Scott Fifield of Cocoa, Fla., and Dean and Margaret Leighton of Wallingford; several nieces and nephews; and several grandchildren.

The family will receive guests at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday from 12:15 p.m. until 12:45 p.m.

A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Internment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Fifield’s’ memory may be sent to he charity of one’s choice.

Carl Tuttle

KITTERY, Maine - Carl E. Tuttle, 68, of Cottle Lane in Kittery, died on Sept. 28, 2002, at York Hospital.

Born on Jan. 8, 1934, in Athens, he was a son of Guy and Evelyn (Savage) Tuttle. He attended local schools in Athens during his younger years.

He and his family moved to the Kittery area during his teen years where he graduated from R.W. Traip Academy.

After school he served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force for nine years. After his military service, he served as an instructor for the Electrical Apprentice Program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he retired.

His first love was his family, enjoying the children he and his wife raised here in Kittery and later his grand and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.

He is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Lorraine M. (Moran) Tuttle, a daughter, Vicki Yao of Dover, N.H.; four sons, Carl Jr. and his wife Glenda Tuttle, John and his wife Linda Tuttle, Kevin and Scott Tuttle, all of Kittery; four brothers, Roland Tuttle of Kittery, Everett Tuttle of Colorado, Robert Tuttle of Kittery, and Paul Tuttle of Hampton, N.H.; four sisters, Gertrude Thompson of Shapleigh, Ethel Curtis of Croydon, N.H., Amy (Ledlow) of York, and Pat Tuttle of Croydon, N.H., 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother, Malcolm Tuttle, and his sister, Alta Tuttle.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery.

Family flowers only. Donations may be made in his memory to York Hospital, Kittery Path, Hospital Drive, York, ME 03909. Arrangements are entrusted to the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

Jeanne Belanger

DOVER - Jeanne Laura Belanger, beloved wife and mother, 78, of 16 Strafford Road, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeanne was born in Dover on Dec. 13, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Ermelina (Dupuis) Poitras. She was a lifelong resident of Dover and a communicant of St. Charles Church. Jeanne graduated from Dover High School class of 1942, after which time she worked at Sylvania in Dover until the birth of her first child when she became a fulltime mother and homemaker. Jeanne was married on Sept. 11, 1948, to Louis T. Belanger.

Jeanne’s greatest love was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and in later years enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending sports and school events in which her grandchildren participated. She will be greatly missed. Jeanne enjoyed reading, needlework, crocheting and gardening.

Jeanne was predeceased by four brothers, Julian, Alphonse, Alfred, Raymond, and by one sister, Irene.

She is survived by her husband Louis; three daughters, Susan McCarthy and her husband Robert of Durham, Linda Tibbetts of Somersworth, and Julie Sabol and her husband James of Dover; two brothers, Leo and Rudolph Poitras both of Dover; six grandchildren, Eric Dubois, Katie McCarthy, Nancy Tibbetts, and Morgan, Rachel, and Adam Sabol; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Tibbetts.

Relatives and friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Feb. 4, 2003, in St. Charles Church, 577 Central Ave., Dover. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover.

Family flowers only, please. Memorials in Jeanne’s memory may be made to the Seacoast Hospice Care, 542 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820.

Susan Grace Belyea

PORTSMOUTH - Susan Grace Belyea, 35, of 163 Blue Heron Drive, Osprey Landing, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born Sept. 25, 1967, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass., the daughter of Delbert Belyea and Judith (Bergfors) Belyea. She has resided in Portsmouth for three years and was a graduate of Somersworth High School, class of 1986. She also attended the New Hampshire Stratham Technical College. Susan worked at the Forestry Service as a laboratory technician in Durham for seven years. She loved spending time with her children, family and friends. She was also very close with her many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her loving mother, Judith (Bergfors) Belyea of Dover; two adoring children, Reggie and Delani Belyea of Portsmouth; four sisters, Stacia O’Neil and her husband Owen of Hampton, Sara Leavitt and her husband Allan of Stratham, Sheryl Long and her husband Alan of Dover and Sandra DuBois and her husband Robert of Dover; several nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 28 Cataract Ave., Dover at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ann Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to a trust for her children: Susan Belyea Memorial Fund, Attention Barbara Campagna, Bank of New Hampshire, 333 State Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Agapit Jean Sr.

EPPING - Agapit H. Jean Sr., 84, of Acre Street, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Exeter Hospital.

He was born in Epping on Aug. 17, 1918, one of 14 children of the late Alfred B. and Josephine (Lavoie) Jean.

Mr. Jean was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and was proud of his service of God and country. He was a member of the Richard A. Mitchell American Legion Post 51 of Epping.

He worked for many years at the Rockingham Shoe Company in Newmarket.

A lifelong communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he served the parish as an usher for many years and, like his father and brothers, worked many years as caretaker of the cemetery where he dedicated the flagpole in memory of all who served to protect our God-given freedom.

He was also a charter member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #6850, and charter member of the Bishop Leo E. O’Neil Assembly of the 4th degree.

Agapit shared 52 years of marriage with his wife, the late Doris L. (Beaulieu) Jean who died in June 1998. The father of 13 children, he was predeceased by a son, Capt. John Jean; daughter Elaine Conery; two granddaughters, Casandra Bragg and Dana Bothwell. Brothers, John, Antonio, Joseph, Albert and Alphonse, and sisters, Lucy Dionne and Antionette Pare also predeceased him.

Family members include seven daughters, Yvonne Poliquin of Epping, Elizabeth McCusker of Plaistow, Yvette Jean of Gig Harbor, Wash., Marlene Myers of Dover, Darlene Bothwell-Smith of LaCrosse, Va., Donna MacDonald of Dover, and Theresa Devine of Raymond; four sons, the Rev. Agapit H. Jean Jr., of Portsmouth, and Michael, Robert, and Edward Jean, all of Epping; two brothers, Jerome Jean of Epping and Thomas Jean of Rochester; four sisters, Clara Morrisette of Exeter, Mary Faucher of Raymond, Cecile Raiche of Epping, and Gemma Jean-King of Epping; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, from 1-3 and 6-9 P.M. A Con-celebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his son Fr. Aggie Jean at St. Joseph’s Church, 204 Pleasant Street, Epping at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Epping. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, P.O. Box 337, Epping, NH 03042 or your local D.A.V. Organization.

Josephine Zoffoli

PORTSMOUTH - Josephine M. Zoffoli, 84, of 138 Maplewood Ave., wife of Edward "Mundo" Zoffoli, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Kane, Pa., on Oct. 6, 1918, she was the daughter of Michael and Michellina (Bonadia) Gallo and moved to Portsmouth as a young girl.

She was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her husband of 66 years she is survived by four daughters, Fay Zoffoli Ham, Geraldine Morrissey and her husband James, and Donna Pantelakos and her husband George, all of Portsmouth; three sisters Jenny Gobbi, and Mary Franceware, both of Portsmouth, and Pat Washburn of Vermont; five grandchildren, Michael Ham, Kim Ham, Julie Gagne, James Morrissey Jr., and Trisha Brewster; four great-grandchildren, Jami Barnes, Jessi Ham, Mia Gagne, and Ava Gagne, a great-great-grandson, Jeffrey Michael Barnes, and several special nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Basil Gallo, and two sisters, Angelina Geraci and Eulanda Barker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Catherine of Siena Church Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are at the Farrell Funeral Home 684 State St., Portsmouth, on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Family flowers only please. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Centralized Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Brenda Wright

BERWICK, Maine - Brenda Marie Wright, 39, of 33 Buttonwood Drive, the wife of James A. Wright, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at her home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St., South Berwick, Maine.
