Gordon M. Huckins

Gordon M. Huckins of Magoon Road, New Hampton, NH, died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on September 3, 2005 following a period of declining health.

Gordon was born on June 22, 1947 the son of Melvin and Virginia [Condon] Huckins. He grew up in New Hampton and attended New Hampton Community School through the eight grade. Gordon was a 1965 graduate of Newfound High School, after high school he furthered his education at Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences receiving an associate’s degree in animal husbandry.

Donna M. Comeau

Donna M. Comeau, passed away November 24, 2005, at Speare Hospital, Plymouth, NH, after a period of failing health. She was born June 29, 1932, in Plymouth, NH, the daughter of Wilfred Willette and Barbara Sullivan Willette.

Walter Charles Taylor

Walter Charles Taylor passed away February 7, 2004, at Speare Memorial Hospital, Plymouth, NH after a brief illness. He was born in Hanson, Massachusetts the son of Harold Taylor and Myrtle Thayer Taylor.

Mr. Taylor resided in Brockton, Massachusetts for 39 years and had lived the past 23 years in Glencliff. He was a self taught mechanic who loved to work on all types of vehicles and was employed by Kmart as a mechanic for a decade.

Walter is survived by his wife, Evelyn E. Wentworth Taylor of Glencliff, NH, four daughters, Teresa Taylor of Belmont, NH, Bonnie Taylor Saindon of Lisbon, NH, Peggy Taylor of Bristol, NH and Wendy Taylor of Mexico; three sons Tommie Ryan of Ashland, NH, Todd Ryan of Laconia, NH and Stormy Patten (Ryan-Harris of Belmont, NH; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, his mother Myrtle Thayer Taylor of Brockton, MA; three brothers, George Taylor of Middleborough, MA, Richard Taylor of Georgia and Paul Taylor of Brockton, MA. Walter was predeceased by his father Harold Taylor and his brother Edwin Taylor.

Friends may call at the Dupuis Funeral Home, Ashland, NH, Wednesday, February 11, 2004 from 7-9PM.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in the spring.

ROLAND L. MORRELL

Ashland - Roland L. Morrell passed away at his home September 18, 2004 after a period of failing health. He was born in Ashland, NH, April 9, 1925, the son of Joseph Morrell and Mariea Marchant Morrell. Mr. Morrell attended Ashland High School and was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII. He received the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal having served on the USS Sierra.

Roland worked for 45 years at LW Packard Woolen Mill, retiring as a night supervisor. He was also a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a former member of the Ashland Fire Department, a member of the Dupuis Cross American Legion, a Boy Scout Master, he was also a member of the Ashland Beach Booster Club and was one of the founders of the Ashland Camp Ground. He was also a member of the Ashland Auxiliary Police Department.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Morrell of Ashland; two sons Peter Morrell of San Diego, California and Kenneth Morrell of Campton, NH and one daughter Valerie Morrell of Duvall, Washington; three grandchildren, Matthew and Adam of California and Jackson of Campton; one sister Beatrice Williams of Medford, Oregon, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Ashland.

Military Graveside Services will be conducted, Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at Green Grove Cemetery, Ashland.

Friends may call at the Dupuis Funeral Home, Ashland, Monday, September 20, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9.

Donations may be made to the Ashland Fire Fighter Association, P.O. Box 856, Ashland 03217 or the Pemi Baker Home Health & Hospice, 258 Highland St., Plymouth, NH 03264.

Alma E. Avery

Alma E. Avery, 88, of Winona Road died on April 8, 2008 at Genesis Eldercare in Laconia following a period of declining health.

A lifelong resident of Ashland, Alma was born on January 5, 1920 the daughter of Henry B. and Annie B. [Willoughby] Avery. Alma attended Ashland Schools’ and was a proud member of the Ashland High School Class of 1939, and was very involved in the class reunions.

Leon Henry King, Jr.

Leon Henry King, Jr., 73, of Spring Street died at his home following an extended period of failing health on March 31, 2008.

Leon was born in Concord on September 1, 1934 the son of Leon H. and Thelma [Lougee] King Sr. He was raised in Concord where he attended Catholic schools and was a graduate of Concord High School. He went on to business school and also attended a school in Okalahoma to become a Black Smith.

Laetitia “Tisha” [Young] Ash

Laetitia “Tisha” [Young] Ash, 81, of Spring Street died at her home on March 28, 2008 following a period of failing health.

Laetitia was born in Ashland on September 3, 1926 the daughter of Otis and Vernie I [Durant] Young. She grew up in Ashland and was a life long resident, Laetitia was an Ashland High School graduate, and also attended Wilfred Academy in Boston graduating in 1945.

PAUL F. DI MARINO

Paul F. DiMarino of Stoneham passed away at his home on Monday, June 4, 2001. He was 48 years of age.

Born in Boston, Mr. DiMarino lived in Medford for many years and most recently was a resident of Stoneham.

Paul was employed as a wiring technician for Agilent. He enjoyed fishing and was a wonderful husband and father.

He is survived by his wife Ada (Lorenzetti) DiMarino and his son Vincent. He was the son of Helen (Haverty) DiMarino of Hanover and the late John DiMarino. Paul was the brother of John of Gloucester, Helen Forte of FL., Joseph of Franklin, Catherine Stanley of Beverly and James of Rowley.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (Rte. 28) STONEHAM on Thursday 5-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church 71 Central St. Stoneham on Friday June 8th at 10 a.m. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Stoneham.

MICHAEL J. HURLEY

Michael J. Hurley of Stoneham passed away after a lengthy illness at his home on Saturday, June 2, 2001. He was 62 years of age.

Born in New York, Mr. Hurley was the son of the late John A. and Mary (Frawley) Hurley.

Mr. Hurley was a printer employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare for the past 35 years. He was the Past Exaulted Ruler of the Stoneham Elks and very active with the Elks. Michael loved sports and was an avid Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his sister, Veronica Hurley of Stoneham, brother John A. Hurley of Whitman, four nephews and one niece.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (Rte. 28) STONEHAM on Monday 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church 71 Central St. Stoneham on Tuesday June 5th at 11 a.m. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.

MITCHELL P. FAVA

Mitchell P. Fava, of Stoneham passed away Friday October 12, 2001 after a brief illness. He was 87 years of age.

Born in Ravine, Italy in 1914, Mitchell (Marchello) Fava immigrated to America at the age of 5, settling in Fitchburg, MA and later attending Fitchburg State Teacher’s College. He served 4 years in the U.S. Army as a member of the 20th Field Hospital which was stationed in England, France, Holland, Germany, and the Aleutian Islands. He derived enjoyment from exchanging notes with his army buddies every Christmas.

After his military service was over, he started his career teaching high-school mathematics in Bristol, Ct., and Melrose, MA for over 40 years. He was married to the late Phyllis (Trodella) and they were the devoted parents of three children, Mitch Jr., of Arlington, an electrical engineer, George, an opthalmologist in Lebanon, PA, and Linda Maloney of Stoneham, a programmer/analyst. George and his wife Margaret have four children: Anthony, Christina, Natalie, and George Jr. Visits to Lebanon, as well as four memorable trips to Italy, were highlights in Mitchell’s life.

Mitchell enjoyed golfing until he became legally blind from macular degeneration. But that did not stop him from being an avid Red Sox fan, never losing hope for that elusive pennant. For the past 5 years, Mitch courageously endured dialysis treatments, but was still able to enjoy life thank to expert medical care and the support of wonderful relatives and friends, for which his family will always be grateful.

Helen C. Phalon

Helen C. Phalon of Woburn, formerly of Stoneham, passed away on April 24, 2003 at Winchester Hospital. She was eighty years of age.

Born in Lowell, Ms. Phalon lived in Stoneham for many years before moving to Woburn. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her warm smile reflected the many special friendships she made over the years. She will be missed by all.

Ms. Phalon was a 37 year employee of Atlantic Gelatin, as a Payroll Supervisor and was serving on the Retirement Board. She was active in arts and crafts at the Jenks Center in Winchester. She was very generous and did a lot of charitable work during her life. Her family and friends were first and foremost in her life.

Helen was the beloved sister of Shirley McTighe and her late husband Robert of Stoneham, Barbara Daley and her husband George of Chelmsford and the late Edward Phalon and his wife Evelyn (Smyth) of Woburn. She was the dear aunt of eight nieces and nephews and seventeen great nieces and great nephews. Helen was the daughter of the late John H. and Helen (Eliasen) Phalon.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10am at St. Joseph Church, 100 Washington St. Woburn. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours Sunday 3-7pm.

Robert Ell

ELL, Robert of Reading, formerly of Malden, December 1, 2004 at age 92. Beloved husband of the late Ida (Prusak) Ell. Devoted father of Robert and Marion Ell, Joan and Joseph Pollini, all of ME, Richard and Kathleen Ell of FL, Bruce and Linda Ell, Paula Morin. Cherished grandfather of 15 and great grandfather of 20. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Saturday 3-7pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9am in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. READING. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Michael B. Sutermeister

Michael B. Sutermeister of Stoneham passed away on Monday November 27, 2004 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 52 years of age.

Born in Winchester, Michael was the beloved son of the late Henry E. Sutermeister and Marion G. (Allin) Sutermeister. Michael was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.

Michael was the beloved brother of Henry Sutermeister and his wife Catherine of Florida, Marion L. Sutermeister of Wakefield, Barbara Ryan and her husband Milton, Mary Jordan and her husband Daniel, all of Stoneham, William Sutermeister and his wife Theresa of Taunton. Michael was also survived by many loving aunts, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday December 1, 2004 at 10am. Interment was in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
