Earleen R. Collins

BRENTWOOD - Earleen R. Collins, 80, formerly of Portsmouth, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

Born March 10, 1919, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Hormidias and Josephine (Cyr) Bilodeau. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.

She was the wife of Cornelius Collins Sr., who died in 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Maureen Bitoff of San Francisco and Earleen Fernald of Portsmouth; two sons, Cornelius Collins Jr. of Standish, Maine, and Thomas Collins of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anita Churchman of Portsmouth, Francis Pace of Portsmouth, and Louise Fogarty of Dover; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane E. Hoyt

GILFORD - Jane E. Hoyt, 53, of Gilford and Portsmouth, died at her home in Portsmouth on Sunday, June 13, 1999.

Born April 29, 1946, in Laconia, she was the daughter of Dr. Willis H. and Mildred L. (St. Pierre) Hoyt.

She was employed at Data General in Portsmouth.

Survivors include her parents of Gilford; two brothers, David J. Hoyt of Connecticut, and Thomas J. Hoyt of Gilford and Thailand; a sister, Katherine Thorndike of Meredith; and several nephews and nieces.

Marie Ann Tetreau

SANFORD, Maine - Marie Ann "Louise" Tetreau, 77, of Main Street, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at the Maine Stay Nursing Home after a lengthy period of illness.

Born July 28, 1921, in Sanford, she was the daughter of Fred and Anna Gould Foster. She was educated in Sanford schools. She lived in Sanford since August 1998, moving from Sonoma, Calif., where she lived for 25 years.

A homemaker, she enjoyed doing embroidery, traveling and golfing. She was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church.

She was the wife of Joseph H. Tetreau for 57^4 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Sally Ann Rancour of Arvada, Colo.; two sons, David Henry Tetreau of Kektovik, Alaska, and Joseph Henry Tetreau Jr. of Mittawan, Mich.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Gloria H. Capone

HAMPTON - Gloria H. Capone, 75, of 7 Quinlan Lane, died suddenly Monday, June 14, 1999, at Exeter Hospital.

Born March 13, 1924, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Achille and Caroline (Caruso) Capone. She was a resident of Portsmouth before moving to Hampton 22 years ago.

Before retiring, she was the owner of Muffi's Breakfast House in Hampton for 23 years.

She was a former member of Portsmouth Country Club and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. She was also an avid swimmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Auger of Hampton; three grandchildren, Rachel Auger, Melissa Boner and Richard Lathrop; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Brodhead of Greenland and Mary Carlton of Portsmouth; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard Lathrop.

Ray Paul Jones

RYE - Capt. Ray Paul Jones, USN retired, of 385 Washington Road, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Mass., after a long battle with cancer.

Born July 22, 1929, in Mobile, Ala., he was the son of the late William Early Jones and Willie Ray Jones. He was a 1947 graduate of Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans. He was a 1951 graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans with bachelor's degree in zoology; and a 1970 graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., with a master's degree in business administration.

A career Naval officer for 30 years, he served two years on a destroyer off Korea and 15 years as a member of the submarine force, including two years as commanding officer of USS Blueback. He served tours of duty at the Pentagon; headquarters of U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany; the University of Kansas as professor of military science; and at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he was administrative officer and commanding officer in charge of enlisted personnel. He retired from the Navy in 1981.

He was an avid sailor and trombone player. As a young man, he played in jazz groups in the French Quarter of New Orleans, including an impromptu session in front of Louis Armstrong.

He also loved to repair antique clocks, going into business in his Rye home as "The Clock Doctor." Among his hobbies were fishing, travel, reading and working on his computer.

He was a member of the Portsmouth Rotary Club, the Portsmouth Propeller Club, the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and the Portsmouth Country Club. He served on the vestry of St. John's Episcopal Church, and on former U.S. Sen. Gordon Humphrey's selection committee for U.S. Military Academies.

He was the husband of Marlene Jones for 45 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Leslie Sandra of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Lynnelle Susan and her husband, William Lipschutz of South Norwalk, Conn., and Christine Elizabeth and her husband, Donald Thompson, of Bedford, Mass.; three grandchildren, Lynnelle Marie, Philip Byron and Scott Alexander, of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Lynnelle.

Paul R. Oeser

RINDGE, N.H. _ Paul R. Oeser, 66, of 37 Mountain Road, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at his home following a period of illness.

Born Aug. 29, 1932, in Lawrence, Mass., he was the son of Richard H. and Lois (Milliken) Oeser. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and a 1954 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in history.

An Air Force veteran, he served more than 11 years.

For more than 21 years, he was a pilot for American Airlines up until his retirement in 1987.

He enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball in the Jaffrey and Rindge, N.H., areas. He started and ran a softball league in southern California prior to moving to Rindge.

He was the husband of Roberta K. (Parsons) Oeser.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Paul R. Oeser III of Riverside, Calif., and Eric R. Oeser of Westminster, Calif.; two daughters, Karen O. Meyers of Rindge, N.H., and Abby A. Oeser of Northfield, N.H.; five brothers, Richard Oeser of San Diego, James Oeser of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Oeser, Stephen Oeser and David Oeser, all of Eliot, Maine; two sisters, Nancy Shapleigh and Sarah Lewin, both of Eliot; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Margherita Mazeau

NEWINGTON _ Mrs. Margherita (de Rochemont) Mazeau, 75, of 315 Newington Road, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 14, 1923, in Medford, Mass., she was the daughter of Percy and Jeanette (Pugh) de Rochemont. In 1931, they moved back to the family homestead in Newington. She attended the one-room school in Newington and was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Class of 1941, and the University of New Hampshire, Class of 1944.

During World War II, she worked at Camp Langdon, where she met her husband, who at the time was chief in charge of Navy detachment at Fort Stark.

For several years, she worked in Boston as a title examiner while attending Boston University Law School.

Very active in Newington affairs, she was editor of the "Newington Neighbor" for 25 years; a member of the Newington Town Church; a member of the Newington Historical Society and Newington Historical District; and acted as 4H leader for Newington and Greenland for a number of years. Before 1972, when McIntire Road connected the two parts of town, she ran a branch library in her home in South Newington.

She was the wife of John R. Mazeau for 49 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, John D. Mazeau of Columbus, Ohio, and Michael Mazeau and Daniel Mazeau, both of Newington; a daughter, Linda Khalsa of Newington; six grandchildren; a sister, Jane Alley of Albany, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Paul Mazeau, in 1989.

Joseph F. Clohecy

BARRINGTON - Joseph Francis Clohecy, 45, of 42 Emerald Acres, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Harborview Trauma Center in Seattle, Wash.

Born Aug. 6, 1953, in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of Gerald F. and Mary Eva (Fitzgerald) Clohecy. He was employed as a steam engineer with Salem Power Plant in Salem, Mass. He had also worked for Haverhill Box Board, Continental Container, and Elliot Rose Co. of Madbury, N.H.

A veteran, he served in the Navy.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 114 of Barrington and was a former Boy Scout 1st Class, Troop 88, of Groveland, Mass.

Survivors include his parents, of Barrington; three children, Mitchell, Erin and Morgan Clohecy; two brothers, Mark Clohecy of Merrimac, Mass., and Philip Clohecy of Barrington; two sisters, Claudia Zehrin of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Mrs. Allan (Elizabeth) Neale of Amesbury, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

Sharon Anderson

PORTSMOUTH - Sharon Anderson, 60, formerly of Dover, N.H., and a longtime resident of South Berwick, Maine, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at her home following a period of failing health.

Born Aug. 21, 1938, in South Berwick, she was the daughter of Harry A. and Mildred E. (Cunningham) Lang.

She was the owner-operator of Kittery Travel, initially located in Kittery and later operated in Eliot. She later worked for Seaport Travel in Portsmouth.

She was a member of the Cocheco Country Club.

She was the wife of John R. Anderson for 25 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Melodee Hann of Portsmouth; seven sons, Gary Hann of Browns Mills, N.J., Larry Hann of South Berwick, Mark Hann of Tampa, Fla., Mark Anderson, Mike Anderson and Matthew Anderson, all of Norman, Okla., and James Anderson of Springdale, Ark.; and two grandsons, Ryan and Christopher Hann, of Browns Mills, N.J.

James J. "Shamus" McCann

SOUTH BERWICK - James Joseph "Shamus" McCann, 72, of Berwick Estates, South Berwick, formerly of York Street, York, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at York Hospital.

Born Nov. 18, 1926, in Boston, he was the son of Edward and Julia (Walker) McCann. He grew up in South Boston.

During World War II, he served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater.

For 35 years, he was a factory worker, making water meters for the Hersey Product Co. in Dedham, Mass.

He loved all sports, and was a New York Yankees fan.

Survivors include a son, Robert McCann and his wife Shirley of York; two sisters, Helen Vaillancourt of South Boston, Mass., and Edna Eades of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Amanda McCann of Hawaii, Jessica McCann of Sanford, and Joshua McCann of York.

He was predeceased by a brother, Charles McCann, and a sister, Katherine Gilbert.

Harry H. Brown

ROCHESTER - Harry H. Brown, 91, of White Hall Road, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the Rochester Manor.

Born Feb. 16, 1908, in Rye, he was the son of Frank and Hattie (Dow) Brown. He resided in Hampton from 1959-78, coming from Hampton Falls, and lived in Rochester since 1978.

For 30 years, he worked as a tank cleaner in Shop No.71 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 1969. He later worked as a groundskeeper at the High Street Cemetery in Hampton from 1970-78.

He was the husband of the late Georgia A. (Dyer), who died in 1982.

Survivors include five daughters, Carol A. Shanok and Joanne S. Daigle, both of Rochester, Esther L. Cram of Hampton, Ruth Pennock of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Barbara Peterson of North Hampton; one son, Kenneth Brown of Germantown, Tenn.; one stepson, Raymond Emery of New Egypt, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a stepson, Richard Clark.

EDWIN WOODY

Edwin F. Woody, 62, husband of Nancy (Connors) Woody, 630 Colonial Drive, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Exeter Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St.
