Raymond G. Beauchesne

NEWFIELDS - Raymond G. Beauchesne, 71, of Piscassic Road, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2000 at Exeter Hospital.

Born Sept. 14, 1929, in Newmarket, he was the son of Albert and Leda (Rousseau) Beauchesne. Raised in Newmarket, he had lived in Newfields for 37 years.

During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He operated a trucking business in the Seacoast area for many years. He also worked at the Seabrook Power Plant and was last employed at the Kingston-Warren Corp. in Newfields.

He was a member of the Seabrook Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marion "Joyce" (Dow) Beauchesne, of Newfields; two sons, Albert Beauchesne, of Newfields, and Dale Beauchesne, of Casco, Maine; three grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Beauchesne, of Rochester; two sisters, Florence Beaulieu and Mrs. Michael (Doris) Paradise, both of Newmarket; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Albert Beauchesne.

BEAUCHESNE - Raymond G. Beauchesne, 71, of Piscassic Road, Newfields, died Nov. 21, 2000. Visiting hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday from the Seabrook Church of Christ, Lafayette Road, with Preacher Bruce Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket. John Tomalonis

NORTH HAMPTON - John Tomalonis, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after being diagnosed with lung cancer in August of this year.

Born in Hartford, Conn., Aug. 13, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Anna R. (Kishkiunas) Tomalonis.

After graduating from Buckley High School in Hartford in 1942, he served in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft carrier pilot and an all-weather flight instructor during the end of World War II and during the Korean Conflict.

Following the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves, retiring many years later as a lieutenant commander. He attended Worcester Poly-Technic Institute after the service, graduating in 1949 with a bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering.

He was briefly employed with Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford, Conn., followed by Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, Calif. He was a flight test engineer for Douglas Aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base in California. He worked for American Airlines as a co-pilot from 1953-54 and then again from 1956 until retirement as a captain in 1984.

He held a life membership in the Grey Eagles. He had an enthusiastic interest in history and recreational aviation as well, flying single-engine aircraft in the 1960s out of Torrance, Calif., Airport and the Hampton Airfield in North Hampton. He resided in North Hampton for 35 years, coming from Torrance.

Family members include his wife Joanne (McCann) Tomalonis of North Hampton; three daughters, Gail Mott of Manchester, Christy Tomalonis-Britt of Oakland, Calif., and Patty O'Connor of North Hampton; one son, Dan Tomalonis of Somersworth; one sister, Gladys Paskov of Farmington, Conn.; as well as relatives and friends in Connecticut, California and Texas.

TOMALONIS - John Tomalonis, 76, of North Hampton, died Nov. 15, 2000. Private services were held at the convenience of the family. If desired, donations may be made to New Hampshire Catholic Charities, P.O. Box 686, Manchester, N.H. 03105-0686. Arrangements by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Charles Ashton Pollard Jr.

SEABROOK - Charles Ashton Pollard Jr., 72, of Seabrook, formerly of Hampton and Danvers, Mass., died of natural causes Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, in his home.

He was born in Ipswich, Mass. He was a longtime resident of New Hampshire before moving from Massachusetts in 1966.

For many years, he was a fireman for the Danvers and Hampton fire departments until his retirement. He also worked as a truck driver for several years with Pike Industries. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Seabrook American Legion Post No. 70, the Gloucester, Mass., AMVETS Post No. 32 and a past member of the Moose Lodge 1601 in Newburyport, Mass.

He is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Josie (Randall) Pollard; his seven daughters, Charlene A. Fowler of North Hampton, Cira Davidson of Kingston, Cathy Curtin of Groveland, Mass., Caren Maynard of Seabrook, Colleen Lentine of Merrimac, Mass., Criss Soucie of Exeter and the late Cheryl (Alberri) Cross; five sons, Scott A. Pollard and David G. Pollard, both of Hampton, Roni D. Pollard of Pensacola, Fla., Arthur McLaughlin of Haverhill, Mass., and Albert Bunnell of Newton; eight brothers, Donald Pollard of Gloucester, Mass., George Pollard of Hillsboro, Daniel Pollard of Seabrook, Herbert Pollard, Bruce Pollard and Peter Pollard, all of Newburyport, Mass., Roger Pollard of Salisbury, Mass., and the late Paul R. Pollard; five sisters, Grace and Dorothy Pollard, both of Newburyport, Mass., Mary Pollard of Methuen, Mass., Polly Pollard of Hampton, and the late Abbey Pollard. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

POLLARD - Ross F. Pollard, 79, of 24 Brookside Drive, Stratham, died Nov. 20, 2000. Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday from the Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury, Mass., followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish's Sacret Heart Church, Friend Street, Amesbury. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Amesbury. Calling hours are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday.

Dana Fletcher

ELIOT, Maine - A funeral service was held for Dana Fletcher, 46, of 3 Hamilton Lane, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery.

Fletcher died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his home.

The Rev. Dr. David Avery of First Congregational Church in Eliot was the officiant. Burial was at Brooks Memorial Park in Eliot with a committal service conducted by the Rev. Avery. Pallbearers were John McIntire, Brian Hinkle, Ronald Stephens, Tony Santos, Edward Tondreys and Mitchell Lunden. Mark Goulet was an honorary pallbearer. Family and friends were invited to a time of sharing and remembrance in the parish hall of First Congregational Church in Eliot. Arrangements by the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

Cecile B. Bergeron

EXETER - Cecile B. Bergeron, 80, of 1 Wadleigh St., died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a short illness.

She was born June 8, 1920, in Epping, the daughter of the late Alfred and Marie Gagnon Levesque.

She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Church. She enjoyed all of her time with her children. She also enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Paul Bergeron of Exeter; nine children, Michael Bergeron and Robert Bergeron, both of Wakefield, Suzanne Bergeron of Barrington, Mary Harvey of Nottingham, Janet Marchetti of Eliot, Maine, Diane Albine of Stratham, Patricia Gauron of Hampton, Paul Bergeron of Candia and Anne Sullivan of Exeter; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Blanche Pelletier of Newmarket; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Rolande Malo, Raoul Levesque, Adrienne Fortin, Albert Levesque and Florence Larochelle.

BERGERON - Cecile B. Bergeron, 80, of 1 Wadleigh St., Exeter, died Nov. 20, 2000. Calling hours will be held tonight from 6 to 8 at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at St. Michael's Church, Front Street in Exeter. Burial will follow in the Exeter Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable.

Chris D. Karas

PORTSMOUTH - Chris D. Karas, 79, of 116 Blue Heron Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Lowell, Mass., on July 4, 1921, he was the son of James and Athanasia (Tsilafaki) Karakostos who came here from Greece. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and after the war was employed by UNICEF throughout Europe, returning to the U.S. after 15 years.

He settled in Portsmouth and was employed by the former Paul's Market, and was manager for Chases Market on Middle Street, and at Atlantic Heights. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda (Beck) Karas; one son, Chris Karas and his wife, Patricia, of Portsmouth; two grandsons, Christopher and Michael Karas; three sisters, Stella LaRose of New Castle, Anna Oliver and Mary Roy, both of Manchester; one brother, John Karakostos of Hampstead; five stepchildren, Mike Pickering, Doris Stewart, Alan Pickering, Jack Pickering and Nancy Junkins; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Laird and Athena Karakostos.

KARAS - Chris D. Karas, 79, of 116 Blue Heron Drive, Portsmouth, died Nov. 21, 2000. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association of New Hampshire, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101. Arrangements by Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth, N.H.

Richard F. Drew

EXETER - Richard F. Drew, 65, of 50 Brookside Drive, formerly of Kensington, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000 at Exeter Hospital.

Born Jan. 14, 1935, in Amesbury, Mass., he was the son of the late Warren G. and Malvina B. (Joburt) Drew.

He was one of 15 children, raised in Amesbury, and was a graduate of Amesbury High School Class of 1952. He lived in Kensington for many years.

A mason, he owned Drew Construction Co.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He served on the Kensington School Board for 31 years and was recognized by former Gov. John Sununu for service to the town. He also served on the joint School Boards for School Administrative Unit 16. A member of the American Legion Post No. 105 of Kensington, he helped in the construction of the new building. The playground at Kensington Elementary School was dedicated to him for his many years of service to the school.

He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Family members include his wife of 45 years, Joan B. (Kinney) Drew of Exeter; one son, David A. Drew of Newton; three daughters, Kathy A. Drew of New York City, Wendy E. Lawler of Kensington and Laurie E. Fortier of Carneys Point, N.J.; six grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Chaisson of Seabrook; several nieces and nephews.

DREW - Richard F. Drew of 50 Brookside Drive, Exeter, died Nov. 19, 2000. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Kensington Congregational Church, 128 Amesbury Road, Kensington. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Kensington. The family requests no visiting hours and that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the Kensington Elementary School Children's Fund c/o S.A.U. 16, 24 Front Street, Exeter, NH 03833. Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home.

Ralph Lewis

LAKELAND, Fla. - Ralph Lewis, 90, of Lakeland died at his residence on Monday, Nov. 20, 2000.

He was born in Kittery, Maine, on Sept. 23, 1910, and was the son of Arthur and Maude Lewis. He moved to Lakeland from Kittery 30 years ago.

He was employed in his father's dairy business in his younger years. In his later years, he became a manager of several motels in New Hampshire, Virginia and Lakeland, Florida. He was a life member of the Masonic Naval Lodge of Kittery, Maine.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Tobey Lewis of Lakeland; one son, Alvin T. Lewis of Santa Fe, N.M.; two daughters, Glenda M. Lewis of Lakeland and Helen L. Petrack of Pomona, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service and interment service will be held at a later date in Covina, Calif.
