Jeannette Crawford

SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. - Jeannette (Reed) Crawford, 82, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Whitman, Mass., where she grew up and attended local schools. She attended Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, Vt., and graduated from Chamberlain Junior College in Boston.

Formerly of Rockland, Mass., she moved to Cape Cod in 1970, living in Sandwich, Cotuit and then to Bass River in 1996. Before moving to Cape Cod, she had also lived in North Hampton, N.H.

She was a former employee of Buttners in Hyannis, Mass.

She was the wife of the late George Crawford.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip Reed Crawford of Exeter, N.H., and George H. Crawford of South Yarmouth, Mass.; one sister, Anne F. Reed of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was predeceased by a son, Peter Spence Crawford.

CRAWFORD - Jeannette (Reed) Crawford died July 26, 2000. Funeral services will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hospice Association of Cape Cod, 923 Route 6A, Yarmouthport, MA 02675.

Jeannette E. Moore

PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Jeannette E. (Moore) Moore, 99, widow of Charles F. Moore, of 188 Jones Ave., died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at SunBridge of Portsmouth.

Born June 16, 1901, in Tamworth, N.H., she was the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Kenison) Moore.

Mrs. Moore was a World War I widow and was a member of the Ralph R. Swift Post, American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a member of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth, where she volunteered her time in the Nearly New Shop.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy L. Driscoll of Hampton and Mary E. Haesche of Ephrata, Pa.; four grandchildren, Anita Christie of Rochester, N.H., Wayne Berry of Hampton Falls, Janet Reagan of Bedford, N.H., and Julie Schwark of Ephrata, Pa.; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.

MOORE - Mrs. Jeannette E. (Moore) Moore, 99, of 188 Jones Ave., died July 27, 2000. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Family flowers only. If desired, donations in Mrs. Moore's memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, NH Region, 59 School St., Concord, NH 03301-3930. Arrangements by J. Verne Wood Funeral Home.

Carlene F. Perusse

SEABROOK - Carlene F. Perusse, 85, of 14 Farm Lane, died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at Seacoast Health Center in Hampton.

A lifelong resident of Seabrook, she was born April 13, 1915, the daughter of the late Frank and Melissa (Dow) Carter. She attended Hampton Academy and during World War II made uniforms for the military.

She was married for 67 years to the late Gerald J. Perusse, who died in 1999. Together, they owned and operated Perusse's Variety Store on Farm Lane for more than 30 years.

She was a member of the Seacoast Anti Pollution League (SAPL), the Clamshell Alliance and the concerned citizens of Seabrook in past years.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Turcotte of Seabrook, Sheila Blanchette and her husband, Leo, of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Merchant of Seabrook, Leona Papoulias of Salisbury, Mass.; one brother, Oliver Carter of Seabrook; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Merrill, and a grandson, Timothy Turcotte.

PERUSSE - Carlene F. Perusse, of 14 Farm Lane, Seabrook, died July 27, 2000. Services will be held at noon Saturday at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. After cremation, burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Seabrook.

SMITH - Marjorie F. Smith, of Cycad Avenue, York Beach, died July 20, 2000, in York. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Christopher Church, York Street, York. Memorial donations may be made to the Southern Maine Visiting Nurse Association, 42 Brickyard Ct., York, ME 03909. Arrangements by the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home.

Johanne P. Apone

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - Johanne Philbrick Apone, wife of Nicholas Apone, died Saturday, July 22, 2000.

Born March 22, 1933, in York, she was the daughter of the late Cato R. and Ethel (Butler) Philbrick.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Christopher Apone of Miami Lakes and David Willey of Salem, N.J.; two daughters, Anne Willey Harvey of Conway, S.C., and Suzanne Willey of Miami Lakes; a sister, Mary P. Cacciatore of Portsmouth; and a brother, Richard Littlefield of Columbus, Ohio.

Donations in her memory may be made to The Center for Wildlife, Mountain Road, York, ME 03902.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Harry B. Knox

NORTH HAMPTON - Harry B. Knox, 79, died Wednesday, July 26 at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth following a short period of illness.

Born Aug. 29, 1920, in Concord, he was the son of the late Elmer B. and Gladys (Murby) Knox.

He lived in Allenstown, N.H., for 37 years before moving to Exeter and North Hampton.

He was a graduate of Pembroke Academy in Pembroke, N.H., and the University of New Hampshire.

He worked for the Rockingham County Extension Service in 4-H Youth Development, retiring in 1987 after 35 years.

He attended the Hampton Falls Baptist Church.

He was the husband of Louise E. (Margeson) Knox of North Hampton for 42 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Rodney E. (Elizabeth A.) Sparkowich of Portland; one son, Brian E. Knox of Hooksett; three grandchildren, Karen and Benjamin Sparkowich, and Rachael Knox; one aunt, Iva Johnson of Concord; three cousins, Lester Billings and Caroline Boyle of Concord, and Melvin Johnson of Manchester; a former daughter-in-law, Cheryl Smith of North Hampton; a foster family, Paul and Suzie Chevrette of Allenstown; four foster grandchildren, Laura, Ashley, Sara and Deanna Chevrette, all of Allenstown; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Margeson of Exeter; and many friends.

KNOX - Harry B. Knox, 79, of North Hampton died July 26, 2000. Calling hours will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hampton Falls Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Lawrence will be officiating. Burial will follow in Kenison Cemetery, Allenstown, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Knox Scholarship Fund, c/o Rockingham County 4-H Foundation, 113 North Road, Brentwood, NH 03833-6623.

Lyla I. Harris

HAMPTON FALLS - Lyla I. Harris, 71, of 110 Lafayette Road, died peacefully at her home on Monday, July 24, 2000.

Born Feb. 19, 1929 in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Catherine B. Cyr. She was raised in Portsmouth and had resided many years in Hampton before moving to Hampton Falls in 1982.

She worked several years as a school bus driver for Berry Transportation. She also worked for the former First National Store and the Dunfey Corporation in Hampton and for the former North Hampton Pharmacy.

She was a 1946 graduate of Portsmouth High School. She was an avid bingo player and a fan of youth sports. She rarely missed any of her children's and grandchildren's games, sometimes even driving the team bus. She enjoyed spending time at her summer home in Wolfeboro and at her cabin in Upper Dam, Maine.

Family members include her husband of 27 years, Richard A. Harris; two sons, Richard J. Kidd and his wife, Jacqueline, of Hampton Falls, and Dennis T. Kidd of Portsmouth; two daughters, Dianne L. Jordan and her husband, John, of Hampton, and Donna M. Toland and her husband, Vince, of Manchester; a stepson, Nathaniel J. Harris and his wife, Heidi, of Ipswich, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Lydia A. Forehand and her husband, Michael, of Haverhill, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

HARRIS - Lyla I. Harris, 71, of 110 Lafayette Road, Hampton Falls, died Monday, July 24, 2000. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833; Seacoast Visiting Nurses Association, 29 Lafayette Road, North Hampton, NH 03862; or Shriner's Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.

Patricia E. Shultz

ELIOT - Patricia E. Shultz, 72, of Eliot, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in Portsmouth.

She was the daughter of Gen. Fred R. Evans, retired National Guard, and Mary (Labar) Evans.

She attended Marywood College in Scranton, Pa., and graduated from Duke University in Durham, N.C. with a bachelor's degree.

She taught in the Scranton School District, the Bethlehem School District and the Buck's County School District until her retirement in 1974.

She moved to Eliot in 1990.

She is survived by her husband, Col. Herbert W. Shultz, M.D., retired Air Force.

SHULTZ - Patricia E. Shultz, 72, of Eliot, died Monday, July 24, 2000. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, at the Warner House on Daniel Street, Portsmouth.

Phillip J. Tanoian

SEABROOK - Phillip J. Tanoian, 41, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in Hale Hospital, Haverhill, Mass., from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Born March 26, 1959, in Lawrence, Mass., he is the son of George Tanoian and Esther (Manookian) Tanoian of Seabrook. He was raised in Salem and had resided in Florida.

He was a 1977 graduate of Salem High School.

Tanoian was the owner of P&T Seafoods of Seabrook. He was a commercial fisherman and ran a bass chartering business. He had his U.S. Coast Guard captain's license to operate vessels up to 100 tons. He was a former harbormaster in Hampton.

He was a member of the Yankee Fisherman's Cooperative of Seabrook.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Linda Doherty of Salem; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

TANOIAN - Phillip J. Tanoian, 42, died Saturday, July 22, 2000. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church, Lawrence, Mass. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church, 54 East Haverhill St., Lawrence, MA 01841.

Barbara F. Tiedemann

HAMPTON - The funeral for Barbara F. Tiedemann, 78, of North Hampton, was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. The Rev. Maurice D. Lavigne, pastor, was the celebrant. Salvatore DiVincenzo was acolyte. Judith Kish was organist and pianist and William Dean was soloist. Mrs. Tiedemann's daughter, Christine T. Johnson and son, Henry J. Tiedemann III placed the pall on the casket. The gifts were presented to the altar by her grandchildren, Rebecca and Althea Johnson.

Burial was in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.

The committal service was conducted by The Rev. Austin Negle. Taps was sounded and the flag was presented to her daughter, Christine T. Johnson.

Irene Bickford

HAMPTON - Irene (Senechal) Bickford, 79, of 6 Ruth Lane, died early Monday morning, July 24, 2000, at the Seacoast Health Center in Hampton.

Born in Amesbury, Mass., on Aug. 25, 1920, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Aurore (Plante) Senechal..

She attended Amesbury schools and was a graduate of Amesbury High School with the class of 1937. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Parish of Amesbury, and more recently attended Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish in Hampton.

She was the wife of Ananias A. Bickford.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Bradley Bickford of Boca Raton, Fla., and Brian Bickford of Dallas; one brother, Robert Senechal of Raymond, Maine; one sister, Rita Upson of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.

BICKFORD - Irene (Senechal) Bickford, 79, of 6 Ruth Lane, Hampton, died Monday, July 24, 2000. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday in Holy Family Parish's St. Joseph's Upper Church on School Street in Amesbury. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury. If desired, memorial donations may be made in her name to the charity of one's choice.

DELFINO - Memorial services for David A. Delfino will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, at Prospect Cemetery, Greenland. Following the service there will be a cookout at the YMCA day camp on Tuttle Lane in Greenland. Friends and family are invited to attend and bring a favorite salad or dessert to share with others. Hotdogs, hamburgers and cold drinks will be provided.

Mary L. Grant

STRATHAM - Mary Louise Grant, 88, of Stratham Heights Road, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, at Exeter Hospital.

Born Sept. 2, 1911, in New Bedford, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Crowley) Sylvia. She had resided many years in Clifton, N.J. and Englewood, Fla., before coming to Stratham 20 years ago.

She was the wife of the late Donald J. Grant.

Family members include a nephew, Francis "Skip" McDonnell and his wife Barbara-Ann, with whom she resided in Stratham; three nieces, Carmel O'Brien, Louise DiMattia and her husband John, and Catherine Gibbs and her husband Butch; and several grandnieces and nephews.

GRANT - Mary Louise Grant, 88, of Stratham Heights Road, Stratham, died Sunday, July 23, 2000. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Thursday, at Star of the Sea Church, Beach Road, Salisbury, Mass. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road (US Route 1), Hampton. Burial will be in the Gulf Pine Park Cemetery, Englewood, Fla.
