June B. Boone

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. June B. (Hodgdon) Boone, 73, of 212 Holly Lane, were held Wednesday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel.

The Rev. William T. Richards Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth, officiated.

A poem was read by Marilyn Boone.

In attendance were members of the First United Methodist Church, the Every Other Tuesday Club, and representatives from the Salvation Army.

Burial was in Newington Cemetery, with committal services by the Rev. Richards.

Bearers were Russell C. Boone, Aaron A. Boone, Richard Stevens, Daniel Ellis, William Aubertine and Keith Hodgdon.

Kathryn Coleman

PORTSMOUTH - Kathryn (Gray) Coleman, 94, the widow of Clark M. Coleman, formerly of Broad Street, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at the Mark H. Wentworth Home in Portsmouth.

Born April 3, 1906, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Fred A. and Lillian (Ward) Gray.

She attended Portsmouth High School and was a graduate of the Plymouth Business School.

She had been formerly employed as a bookkeeper for First National Bank in Portsmouth.

She was a member of the North Congregational Church in Portsmouth, where she was active in the Nearly New Shop. She was a 25-year member of the Bridget Graffort Club; former member of the Rivermouth Chapter No. 54, Order of the Eastern Star in Portsmouth; and former member of the YWCA.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy (Coleman) Smallwood of New Orleans and Joanne (Coleman) Yeaton of Greenland; three grandsons, John D. Smallwood of Petal, Miss., Eric R. Smallwood of Clinton, Mich., and Capt. Christopher J. Yeaton, U.S. Army of Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Christina J. Yeaton of Greenland; a great-granddaughter, Kathryn E. Smallwood of Petal, Miss.; a sister, Pauline Parker of Falmouth, Maine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

COLEMAN - Kathryn (Gray) Coleman, 94, formerly of Broad Street, Portsmouth, died Monday, June 12, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the North Congregational Church Memorial Chapel, 355 Spinney Road, Portsmouth. Friends invited. Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. Flowers will be accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Foundation N.H. Chapter, 59 School St., Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements by J. Verne Wood Funeral Home.

Neil R. Parker

KINGSTON - Neil R. Parker Sr., 62, of Scotland Road, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a lengthy period of illness.

Born Sept. 4, 1937, in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of the late Robert and Robena (Swett) Parker.

He was a member of the Navy.

He served as chief of police in Kingston for 30 years, until his retirement in 1995. He was very well thought of by family and friends.

He was a member of the Rockingham County Law Enforcement Association.

He was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America in Haverhill. He was a member of the Family Mediation and Juvenile Service for the Plaistow (N.H.) District Court.

He was the husband of Patricia (Ireland) Parker of Nashua.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, David Parker of Plaistow; two stepchildren, Jason Hubbard of Plaistow and Jessica Hubbard of Nashua; four sisters, Dawn Peltier of Kingston, Julie Schena of Haverhill, Mass., Brenda Silva of Milford, N.H., and Hope Rowell of Kingston; an aunt; two uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

PARKER - Neil R. Parker Sr., 62, of Kingston, died June 13, 2000. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2000, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Kingston Congregational Church. The Rev. Wendall Irvine will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Kingston Police Association, Main Street, Kingston, NH 03848.

Daniel Russell

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mr. Daniel "Plucky" Russell Sr. 80, of 245 Middle St., were held Wednesday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel.

The Rev. Vivan Martindale, pastor of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, officiated.

Veterans of Foreign Wars services were conducted by Emerson Hovey Post No. 168 of Portsmouth, including Post Cmdr. John J. McCarthy and Chaplain Mark T. Anthony. Also assisting in services were Quartermaster Paul F. Cushing; Joseph P. Goodwin; Eugene Franceware; Past State Cmdr. Paul Chevalier; Past State Cmdr. Harry Laderbush; Post Advocate Carl R. Walton; Past District 7 Cmdr. Reginald Wright; Past Cmdr. No. 10676 Mr. Ward; Felix Young; Cmdr. District 7 Amos R. Townsend; Anna Labrie, treasurer, VFW Auxiliary; Shirley Lien, senior vice department of New Hampshire and president VFW Auxiliary.

In attendance were members of Emerson Hovey Post No. 168, VFW; Seacoast Memorial Post No. 8942, VFW, of Rye; Department of N.H. VFW; Emerson Hovey Post Women's Auxiliary; former crew mates of the USS Halfbeak; and representatives from Coast Cadillac.

The American flag that draped the casket was folded and presented to Mr. Russell's widow Malvene (Johnson) Russell by Emerson Hovey Post No. 168 Post Cmdr. John J. McCarthy.

Burial will be in the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H.

Edwin G. Warrington Jr.

KINGSTON - Edwin G. Warrington Jr., 77, of 11 Madison Ave., died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Dover.

Born June 3, 1923, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Edward G. Warrington Sr. and Ethel (Marran) Warrington. He moved to Kingston in 1938. He graduated from the Thompson School of Applied Sciences.

During World War II, he served three years in the Coast Guard.

He was a ham radio operator, WB1ENQ, and a wildlife rehabilitator.

He was a farmer and commercial lobsterman.

He was the husband of Patricia (Lyons) Warrington of Kingston for 46 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Eileen Wentworth of Rochester; two sons, Mark Warrington and Timothy Warrington, both of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, John Warrington of Escondido, Calif.

Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Kingston. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, is handling the arrangements.

Rev. Roger L. Moquin

CHERRY VALLEY, Calif. - The Rev. Roger L. Moquin, a Manchester native, died suddenly at his home in Cherry Valley, June 8, 2000. He was 67.

Born May 31, 1933, he was ordained to the priesthood April 2, 1960, in Fall River, Mass., by the Most Rev. James L. Connolly, bishop of Fall River, for the Congregation of Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette.

He served as a professor at La Salette Junior College in East Brewster, Mass., until June 1961, when he was assigned to parish ministry and studies in the Spanish in Santa Fe, N.M., and later in Buenos Aires, Argentina. From 1962 through June 1969, he served as a professor at La Salette Minor Seminary, Sancta Maria de Nieva (Segovia) Spain. After returning from Europe, he served as curate, Notre-Dame de La Salette Parish, in Montreal, Quebec, and later as professor at La Salette Preparatory Seminary, Enfield.

He served as temporary administrator of Sacred Heart Parish, Manchester, and parochial vicar of St. George Parish, Manchester, before becoming a priest in the Diocese of Manchester on Sept. 15, 1977. He later served as parochial vicar of Holy Rosary Parish, in Rochester; Guardian Angel Parish, Berlin; St. Mary Parish, Claremont; St. Martin Parish, Somersworth, and at St. Aloysius Parish, Nashua. He also served as administrator of St. Timothy Parish, Bristol.

MOQUIN - The Rev. Roger L. Moquin, 67, a Manchester native, died at his home in Cherry Valley, Calif., June 8, 2000. The Most Rev. Francis J. Christian, auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Manchester, will celebrate a memorial Mass at 7 p.m., June 22, in St. Anthony Church in Manchester. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Saint Augustine Cemetery in Manchester.

Kathryn Coleman

Gilberte C. Michaud

PORTSMOUTH - Gilberte C. "Betty" Michaud, 86, of 245 Middle St., went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Monday, June 12, 2000.

Born Feb. 22, 1914, in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Estelle (Topping) Vadeboncoeur. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club. She has many friends there and also with the "Line Dancers" in past years.

She is survived by her daughter, Claire Pinette of Lewiston, Maine; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Sister Jeanne Vadeboncoeur of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Manchester.

MICHAUD - Gilberte C. "Betty" Michaud, 86, of 245 Middle St., Portsmouth, died Monday, June 12, 2000. A Mass of celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Summer Street, Portsmouth. Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday, at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Nashua. Family flowers only, please. Memorials may be made to the Portsmouth Regional VNA and Hospice, 95 Albany St., Unit 11, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Robert M. Woods

RYE - Robert M. Woods, 66, of 470 Washington Road, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Portsmouth Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1934, in Beverly, Mass., he was the son of Phyllis (Morong) Woods of Rye and the late Joseph H. Woods. He resided in Rye most of his life.

He was educated in Rye, graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1952. He was a U.S. veteran, serving in the Navy as a Seabee.

He worked as a foreman for the Morley Company of Portsmouth for 15 years, before retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the Rye Bethany Congregational Christian Church of Rye, past president of the Rye Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the International Management Council, and honorary member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and was involved with the Boy Scout Troop 181 of Rye. He was also active in the Rye Little League Association.

He was the husband of Esther (Volkmann) Woods for 47 years.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include one son, Robert M. Woods II, of Manchester; five daughters, Brenda Bowley of East Hartford, Conn., Ginny Weeks of Rochester, Deborah Vallery of Concord, Denise Thomson of Barrington, and Charlene Woods of Rye; nine grandchildren; one brother, Joseph H. Woods of Rye; and two sisters, Sandra O'Brien and Linda Fleckenstein, both of Portsmouth; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

WOODS - Robert M. Woods, 66, of 470 Washington Road, Rye, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the Central Cemetery, Rye. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

O'MALLEY - Mary C. O'Malley, 86, of 20 Pleasant St., Eliot, died June 12, 2000. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, at St. Raphael Church in Kittery. Visiting hours will be from 6 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot. Family flowers only please. SAWYER - Isabelle D. (Fry) Sawyer, 92, died at her home in Durham on April 17, 2000. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 16 at the Durham Cemetery, followed by a 4 p.m. memorial service at St. George's Episcopal Church, Durham, with the Rev. Michael Bradley, rector, officiating. The Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket, is assisting with the arrangements.

Lawrence J. McKillop

HAMPTON - Lawrence J. McKillop, 89, of 698 Lafayette Road, died Sunday June 11, 2000, at his home.

Born July 5, 1910, in Roxbury, Mass., he was the son of the late Duncan and Flora A. (McDonald) McKillop.

Mr. McKillop was a 1928 graduate of Woburn High School, Woburn, Mass. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He was employed as the field office manager for B. Perini and Sons, now Perini Construction Corporation from 1936-1948. He later worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as an auditor and systems accountant from 1950-1972.

He resided in Hampton since 1947 and was a charter member and communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.

He was the husband of the late Helen G. (Corballis) McKillop who died in 1991.

Survivors include a sister in law, Dorothy McKillop of Woburn, Mass.; nieces; nephews; his longtime caregiver and friend, Nancy MacKenzie and her husband Alex of Hampton; and his dear friend, Millie Brown of Rye.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Archibald, Duncan, Daniel and John McKillop.

MCKILLOP - Lawrence J. McKillop of 698 Lafayette Road, Hampton died June 11, 2000. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, from 7-9 p.m., Friday. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Mary C. O'Malley

PORTSMOUTH - Mary Catherine O'Malley, 86, of 20 Pleasant St. passed away Monday, June 12, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Portsmouth after a long illness.

Born June 3, 1914, in Boston, she was the daughter of Michael and Bridget (Manley) Morrin. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Boston Clerical School.

A resident of Eliot for the past 65 years, Mrs. O'Malley was a member of St. Raphael Church, the Altar Society, Eliot Women's Forum, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eliot Fire Department. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and being a loving grandmother.

She was the widow of Stanton G. O'Malley who died in 1967.

She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Thomas and her husband Kenneth; Virginia Morgan and her husband Raphael, all of Eliot; two sons, Thomas O'Malley and his wife Kathryn, of Eliot, and Stephen O'Malley of Old Towne, Maine; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a son John Stanton O'Malley in 1960 and a grandson James Michael Ripley in 1990.
