Dorothy C. Aubertine

PORTSMOUTH - Dorothy C. Aubertine, 87, formerly of Rogers Street, passed away Monday, April 24, 2000, at the Edgewood Centre after a long period of failing health.

Born Feb. 1, 1913, in Lowell, Mass., she was the daughter of Norman and Helena (Droney) Aubertine and was a resident here most of her life. She was a 1931 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

She was a self-employed beautician, a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Womens City Club.

Survivors include a brother, Thomas Aubertine of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond "Dutchy" Aubertine, and William Aubertine; and two sisters, Alice Bergeron and Evelyn Aubertine.

Allan A. Cushing

RYE - Funeral services for Mr. Allan A. Cushing, 77, of 281 Sagamore Road, were held Tuesday from J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at St. James Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Agapit H. Jean Jr., was celebrant. Altar servers were Theresa Hickey, Jane Millette, Joanne Greene and Richard Ward. The readings were given by Alana Jackson and Sarah Cushing. A poem was offered by Courtney Cushing and words of remembrance were given by George Cushing. The presentation of the gifts were by Kim and Kelley Cushing. Organist was Jean Goss and Janet Green was soloist. Bearers at the church were Allen Cushing, Stephen Cushing, Frank Trombley, Dennis Mooney, Don Dunton and David Gebhardt.

In attendance were communicants of the church.

Burial was in Central Cemetery, Rye, with committal services by Father Jean. An Honor Guard was formed at the cemetery by a detachment from the 10th Mountain Division, HHS/3-6 Field Artillery, Fort Drum, N.Y. under the direction of 1st Lt. Robert May, including Ssg. Frank Dixon, Sgt. Kevin Strozzi, Sgt. Michael Kirlew, Sgt. Bernard Leighan, Sgt. Adam Green, Spc. Joshua Ferguson, Spc. Thomas York, Pfc. Jeremy Kocinski and Pvt. Jeremiah Keeton.

The American flag that draped the casket was folded by Ssg. Frank Dixon and Sgt. Michael Kirlew and presented to Mr. Cushing's widow, Mrs. Nina Cushing by 1st Lt. Robert May.

Bearers were Sgt. Kevin Strozzi, Sgt. Bernard Leighan, Sgt. Adam Green, Spc. Thomas York, Pfc. Jeremy Kocinski and Pvt. Jeremiah Keeton.

Wake services were held Monday evening at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel by Fr. Jean.

George Albert O'Brien

ELIOT - George Albert O'Brien, 64, of 9 Heather Road, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at his home.

Born June 30, 1935, in Boston, he was the son of William Henry and Margaret Martha (D'eon) O'Brien.

He attended Portsmouth High School and served in the Navy from 1955 to 1960.

He was employed as an electronic inspector at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1989. He was the former proprietor of D.D. Mobile.

He was a member of the National Republican Party; the Emerson Hovey Post, No. 168, Veterans of Foreign War; and the National Rifle Association.

He was the husband of Mrs. Pauline Alice (Carrier) O'Brien.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Arlene Fricker of Cheshire, Mass., and Catherine Rioux of Eliot; four grandchildren, Justin Rioux and Luke Rioux, both of Eliot, and Andrew Fricker and Amy Fricker, both of Cheshire; one brother, James O'Brien of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Mary Westgate of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews.

Imogene Erickson

WELLS - Imogene (Skillings) Erickson, 89, of Wells, and Southborough, Mass., died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in Metro West Medical Center in Framingham, Mass. after a short illness.

Born in Danvers, Mass., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Skillings. She lived in Southborough from 1943 to January of this year, before moving to St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham.

She graduated from Simmons College in Boston, earning a degree in library science. She was employed at the Framingham Public Library for many years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Orient Heights Chapter, Order of The Eastern Star.

She was the wife of the late Everett A. Erickson. He died in 1991.

Survivors include a nephew, Milton E. and wife, Patricia Long, of North Andover, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Ruth C. Long of North Andover; four grandnephews; and seven great-grandnieces.

A daughter, Jane K. Erickson, died in 1977.

Philip Kilburn

CORNISH, Maine - Philip Kilburn, 64, of Main Street, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 23, 2000, while working at the Cornish Water District.

Born in Portland, he was the son of Adelbert and Althea Smith Kilburn.

He attended schools in Cornish and graduated from York High School. He graduated from Farmington State College with a bachelor's degree in education. He taught seventh- and eighth-grade science in Brownville Junction, Freeport and Westbrook, totaling 26 years. During his teaching career, he was very active in coaching swimming and baseball.

In 1987, he was instrumental and single-handedly developed the Cornish Water District. He was the chairman of the trustees for the Water District and because of his dedication and accomplishments, the town of Cornish has won several awards for its outstanding water treatment facility.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and was a Civil War buff who enjoyed researching his family roots. He especially enjoyed his camp that was located on Caribou Lake near Greenville, Maine. He often went there with family members to hunt or to just be alone. He enjoyed the tranquility and the beauty of the camp and surrounding scenery. His favorite spot was sitting on the screened porch of the camp, looking out across the lake while drinking his morning coffee.

He is survived by five daughters, Cindy Curry and Cathleen Kilburn, both of Westbrook, Diane Kilburn of Windham, Kelly Kilburn of Hollis and Deirdre Link of Newington; four sons, Steven of Hiram, Jeffrey of Westbrook, James of Saco and Anton of Cornish; one brother, Alan of York, 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sandra R. Richard

OTIS, Mass. - Sandra Rose Richard, 56, of 52 North Pine St. died unexpectedly Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Portsmouth.

She was born in Winsted, Conn. July 11, 1943, the daughter of Vincent and Mildred (Bosworth) Buzinsky.

She is survived by a son David Richard of Becket, Mass.; three daughters, Sheryl-Ann Kelleher of Portsmouth, Kelly Pyenson of Lee, Mass., and Sandra Millard of Winsted, Conn.; two brothers, Vincent Buzinsky of Winsted, Charles Buzinsky of Wallingford, Conn.; three sisters, Frances Pace of Torrington, Conn., Mildred Petrunti of Winsted, and Lillian Toller of Cheshire, Conn.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Gertrude A. Drusendahl

MANCHESTER - Gertrude A. Drusendahl, 74, of Manchester, N.H. died Feb. 10, 2000. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery. The Rev. Christopher J. Emerson, senior minister of First Congregational Church, Manchester, will officiate. Goodwin Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy L. Hobbs

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy L. (Fehr) Hobbs, 77, of 19 Edgewood Road, were held from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, in Portsmouth, on Saturday, with services held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. The Rev. Fr. Timothy Rich, rector, officiated.

Readings were offered by granddaughters, Kelsi Hobbs and Amy Kutz. Reflections were given by close friend Evelyn Marconi. Organist was Diane Dean.

In attendance were members of the church.

Burial was in the Harmony Grove Cemetery, in Portsmouth, with committal services by Father Tim.

Bearers were Harry Hobbs, Dick Marshall, Charlie Marshall, Gill Gum, Larry Robbilard, and Mark Kinton.

Peter J. Theodore

DOVER - Peter James Theodore, 77, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at the Mark Wentworth Home in Portsmouth.

Born May 28, 1922, in Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of James and Bessie (Spinopolous) Theodore. He received his M.E. degree on the G.I. Bill from New York University.

He served in the Marines during World War II and as a helicopter mechanic during the Korean Conflict.

He worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of East Hartford, Conn., as a field representative, then in marketing.

He was a 32nd degree Mason who was one of the founders of the Tokyo Lodge.

A lifelong traveler, he lived and worked in Japan, France, Spain, Israel, USSR, and the Balkans.

He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

A great reader, poet, husband, friend, father, and grandfather, he was the husband of Mary (Xynos) Theodore for 58 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Deborah Theodore Pierce of Belmont, Mass; sons, Jason Theodore and his wife, Barbara, of Dover, and Peter Gregory Theodore of San Pedro, Calif.; six grandchildren, Anna Ralston, Melanie Alexander, Matthew Theodore, Sofia Theodore Pierce, Maria and Rebekah Theodore; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Hunter and Paris; a brother, Anthony Theodore of Boca Raton, Fla.; two nieces, Betty and Suzanne; and a nephew, Chet, of California.

Glenn M. Fraser

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Glenn M. Fraser, 34, died suddenly Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Santa Clara Medical Center.

Born Jan. 30, 1966, in Nashua, N.H., he was the beloved son of Raymond and Margaret Fraser, formerly of Nashua, and now residing at 141 Spinnaker Way in Portsmouth, N.H.

In 1984, he graduated with honors from Nashua Senior High School, and then attended Alfred State College in Alfred, N.Y., where he earned his degree in CAD design.

In 1990, he relocated to the San Francisco area, holding positions as a cartographic programmer at Etak and NAVTEK corporations. He was previously employed as a draftsman at Nimcor Corp. in Nashua.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his brother, Gary Fraser of Barrington, N.H., and a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Ms. Daniel (Renee) Dunlap of Amesbury, Mass.; two nephews, Alec and Drew Dunlap; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ruth E. Cobb

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Ruth E. Cobb, 60,, of Fort Pierce, Fla., formerly of Stratham, died Nov. 11, 1999. She was the wife of Kenneth B. Cobb Jr. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Route 3, in Boscawen, N.H.

Glenn M. Fraser

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Glenn M. Fraser, 34, died suddenly Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Santa Clara Medical Center.

Born Jan. 30, 1966, in Nashua, N.H., he was the beloved son of Raymond and Margaret Fraser, formerly of Nashua, and now residing at 141 Spinnaker Way in Portsmouth, N.H.

Ronald F. DeStefano

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Ronald Frederick "Skip" DeStefano, 58, of 26-1/2 Varney Lane, Eliot, were held Saturday from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home_Buckminster Chapel, with services at Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth. The Rev. Vivan Martindale, pastor, officiated. A reading was given by Shawn Shambo. Personal words and excerpts from "The Profit," by Kahlil Gibran, were given by daughter Amy Kuchtey. The eulogy was given by son Jim DeStefano. Personal reflections were given by Peter Lukas. Ushers were Ed Anderson, Erdine Ramsdell, Bernard Ramsdell, Ken Brown, Louis Dow, Richard Moulton and Milton Robarts. Organist was Winnie Caswell, and soloist was Mary Leonard.

In attendance was a large delegation of family, friends and members of the church.

Thomas B. McCabe

PORTSMOUTH - Thomas B. McCabe, 63, of 150 Sherburne Road died suddenly at his home Friday, April 21, 2000.

Born Dec. 10, 1936, in Lakewood, R.I., he was the son of Edward Thomas and Clara (Bateson) McCabe. He was raised by his brother and sister-in-law, the late George and Kay McCabe of Taunton, Mass.

He served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War.

In 1998 he retired after working 35 years in the printing industry. He was a past member of the Boston Litho Club.

He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 140 and the Third Order of St. Dominic.

He was an avid sports fan. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and his grandchildren.

He was the husband of Carol A. (Lavery) McCabe for 42 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Thomas B. McCabe Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Concord; four daughters, Sharon McCabe of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Kathleen Meleedy and her fiance, Greg Hutcheson, of Eliot, Debra Bither and her husband, Henry, of Sanford, and Rosemary Cook and her husband, Martin, of Lehigh Acres; grandchildren Jade, Kelsey, Larisa, Ryan, Alex, and Sarah McCabe, Michael and Jeffrey Hughes, Gerald Meleedy, Edward and Brittany McCabe, Jessica Guerette, Stephanie and Danielle Bither, Luc VanSteertegem, Caroline, Martin, Colleen and Samantha Cook; a brother, Edward McCabe and his wife, Gloria, of Amelia Island, Fla.,

He was a caregiver to his sister-in-law, Patricia Lavery, for 34 years.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Carole Ann McCabe, and two brothers, John F. and George W. McCabe.

Michael Petrungar

HAMPTON - The funeral for Michael Petrungar, 85, of 81 Railroad Ave., Seabrook, was held Friday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. The Rev. Diane Pierce, pastor of the Trinity United Church, officiated. Burial followed in High Street Cemetery, Hampton, with the committal service conducted by Rev. Pierce. Masonic services were conducted Thursday evening at the funeral home by St. James Lodge No. 102 F&AM of Hampton, with 30 members in attendance.
