Francis H. Robb

PORTSMOUTH - Largely attended funeral services for Francis H. Robb, 84, of 405 South St. were held Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception by the Rev. Edward Kelley.

The Eucharistic gifts were presented by his grandchildren Emily Jerszyk, Meghan Jerszyk, Andrew Tiebout, and Timothy Tiebout.

Organist was Marion Arnoldy and soloist was Mary Leonard.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Kelley conducting the committal service.

Pallbearers were his son Thomas Robb, grandson Andrew Tiebout, nephew James Cerny, nephew Francis Robb, and his sons-in-law William Jerszyk and Stephen Tiebout.

Michael Sereda

HAMPTON FALLS - Michael Sereda, 72, of 27 Sanborn Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the Exeter Hospital.

Born in Chelsea, Mass., Feb. 11, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Anastasia (Wlasik) Sereda.

He was a graduate of Brewster Academy in the Lakes Region, attended the University of New Hampshire and was a graduate of Bentley School of Accounting in Boston.

Entering the service at the end of World War II, he served with the Army during the occupation of Japan and later during the Korean Conflict in the military police.

He worked as an accountant and auditor in the music industry for American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) from 1959 to 1974. More recently he continued as a self-employed accountant.

He resided in Hampton Falls since 1984 coming from Melville, N.Y.. He summered for many years in Palermo, Maine.

He was the husband of Nanette (Kaupke) Sereda for 39 years.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by seven children, Mark Sereda of Natick, Mass., Dawn Sereda and Kristin Sereda both of Arlington, Mass., Karen Sereda of New York, Michael Sereda of Natick, Mass., Richard Sereda of Mansfield, Mass., and Mary Sereda of Everett, Mass.; four grandchildren, Anastasia, Nikolya, Christopher and Stephanie; three sisters, Mary Gotowala and Sonja Sawyer both of Chelsea, Mass., and Olga Haw of Davison, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother John Sereda.

Genevieve C. Collins

DOVER - Genevieve Coughlin Collins, 86, formerly of Rutland Street, Dover, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center.

Born Jan. 1, 1914, in Somerville, Mass., she was the daughter of Jeremiah and Genevieve Coughlin. She was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School and attended Harvard University. Her career in public service began at the State House in Boston with the Work Projects Administration (WPA), an appointment to Selective Service in Dover, Exeter, and Portsmouth, and later an appointment to the Internal Revenue Service. She was a graduate of the Wentworth Hospital Nurses Aide Program and worked both at the hospital and for New Hampshire Home Nursing.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Dover and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society there. She was a Red Cross volunteer and Camp Fire Girl Leader. She was also a member of the Garden Club of Dover, Dover Women's Club and the Junior League of Cambridge.

Survivors include five children, Joan Birch of New Castle, Wash., Janet Boduch of Barrington, James Ashton Collins of Nashua, Jereldine Blenkhorn of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jenifer Fredericksen of Hudson; 12 grandchildren, David and Jenifer Birch of New Castle, Wash., Anastasia Boduch of Dover, Stephanie, Stanley, Stephen and Samuel Boduch of Barrington, Allison Beck of Atlanta, Ga., Andrew Beck of Virginia Beach, Va., Genevieve and Alexandra Fredericksen of Hudson, and Justin Fredericksen of Canton, Mass.; one great grandchild Madeline Hogan of Dover; a brother-in-law, Robert Collins of Bedford; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Eileen O'Brien Dowcett of Medford, Mass..

She is predeceased by her husband James Ashton Collins, a sister Mary Coyne of East Milton, Mass., and twin brothers Charles and John Coughlin of Cambridge.

Susan H. Pafford

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Susan H. (Hutchinson) Pafford, 78, of 24 Johnson Court, were held at Buckminster Chapel on Monday. Mr. Graham Alvord officiated.

Words of remembrance were given by her daughter Cindy Vinciguerra and her son, Ray Hutchinson. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, with committal services by Mr. Alvord. Bearers were Todd Beratis, Brian Pafford, Glenn Pafford, James Pafford, Corey Pafford, Brett Vinciguerra and Kevin Pafford.

Jean M. Sanborn

KITTERY - Jean May Sanborn, 58, of 18 Phelps St., Kittery, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born Aug. 26, 1941, in York, she was the daughter of Shirley Loucks.

She was a very active family person, raising her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her significant other, John Millett of Kittery; her mother, Shirley May Coffron of Kennebunk; her maternal grandmother, Dorothy May Gagnon of Wells; two sons, Ralph Sanborn of York, and Sanborn of Kittery; three daughters, Cheryl Tibbetts, Cindi Johnson, and Lorri Hoffman, all of Kittery; three sisters, Marilyn Matthews of Eliot; Nancy Smith, and Betty Fowler, both of Kennebunk; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

John T. Allain

PORTSMOUTH - John T. Allain, 90, of 206 Oriental Gardens, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born Jan. 17, 1910, in Bath, Maine, he was the son of John and Marie Louise (Tardiff) Allain. He moved to Portsmouth from Bath at the beginning of World War II to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He retired from the shipyard as a machinist with more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.

He was the husband of the late Laura (Migneault) Allain, who died in 1998.

He is survived by a son, Lawrence R. Allain of Hampstead; two daughters, Louise A. Belanger of Cape Neddick, and Lorraine M. Rosco of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Cote of Bangor.

He was predeceased by a son, Dr. Louis J. Allain; a daughter, Lillian Harrison; and a brother, Louis Allain.

Carole A. Coombs

EXETER - The funeral for Carole A. Coombs, 57, of 3 Spruce St., was held Monday from the Stockbridge Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Michael's Church. The Rev. Marc B. Drouin, pastor, was the celebrant.

Organist was Denise Kelly and soloist was Jennifer Gains. Acolytes were Joseph Latour, Thadeus Klemarczyk and Ray Russell.

The pall was placed on the casket by Mrs. Coomb's children, Susan Bennett and David E. Coombs Jr. The readings were offered by Pam Wiggin and Jeff Pouliot.

The gifts were presented to the altar by Joshua Bennett, Michael Bennett, Paul Bennett and Jennifer Coombs. Burial followed in the Exeter Cemetery with the Rite of Committal by the Rev. Drouin. Pallbearers were Joshua Bennett, Paul Bennett, Kevin Fowler, Webster Coombs, Robert Fowler Jr., and Jeff Pouliot.

Thomas J. McLaren Sr.

HAMPTON - The funeral for Thomas J. McLaren Sr., 65, of Cusack Road, was held Saturday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. The Rev. Maurice Lavigne, pastor, was the celebrant.

Salvatore DiVincenzo was the acolyte and offered the readings.

Judith Kish was organist and Mary Louise Arcidi was soloist and cantor. Jim Kelly offered the eulogy.

Cremation followed in the Phoenix Crematory. Pallbearers were Thomas J. McLaren Jr., Timothy J. McLaren, Tobey J. McLaren, all sons of Mr. McLaren; Mark Gray, Mark Colby and James McCoole.

Spring burial will be in the High Street Cemetery.

Susan H. Pafford

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Susan H. (Hutchinson) Pafford, 78, of 24 Johnson Court, were held at Buckminster Chapel on Monday. Mr. Graham Alvord officiated.

Rosa A. Brillard

YORK - The funeral for Rosa A. Brillard, 66, of 17D Cain Crest Drive, was held Monday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.

The Rev. Michael J. Griffin, senior priest, was celebrant. Acolytes were William Pray, George Brown and Richard Violette. The rosary beads were placed on the casket by her daughter-in-law, Lynne Brillard. Mathew and Lauren Brillard, grandchildren of the deceased, presented the gifts. Nelson K. Ward was organist. Aurelio Dominagvez was soloist. Pallbearers were Dan Cartier, Mark Huber, Craig Fuller, and Forrest Hardardt. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton for both Mrs. Brillard and her husband, Carlton Brillard, who died Jan. 23, 2000, with Rite of Committal offered by the Rev. Griffin.

Andrew G. Drakides

HAMPTON FALLS - Andrew G. Drakides, 75, of Brown Road, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Sunbridge of Rochester.

Born Nov. 30, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Bramas) Drakides. He had resided in Hampton Falls for the past 45 years.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific with the Navy's Amphibious Assault Fleet.

From 1954 until his retirement in 1986, he worked as a tool and die maker at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

For many years, he coached HYA baseball and basketball, and served as a member of both the Hampton Falls School Board and the Hampton Falls Volunteer Fire Department.

He also was a member of Hampton Falls Grange No. 171, the Emerson Hovey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 168 of Portsmouth, and the LST Sailor's Association.

He was the husband of the late Lillian M. (Cushing) Drakides, who died in 1979. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Edmund A. Hanson

FRANKLIN, N.H. - Edmund A. Hanson, 84, of 29 Baldwin St., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Lakes Region Hospital in Laconia, N.H.

Born Sept. 13, 1915, in Boston, he was the son of Alfred J. and Alice C. (Rosebeck) Hanson. He grew up in Needham, Mass., and graduated from Needham High School. He was a 1942 graduate of Boston University, with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

He resided for many years in Needham and then in Kittery. He was a resident of Franklin for the past year.

He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He owned and operated the Hanson Atlantic Service Station in Needham for more than 20 years.

He was a past member, and served in many administrative capacities, of the Carter Methodist Church in Needham.

He was the husband of Violet May (Freeton) Hanson for 52 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Judith A. Elley of Brooksville, Fla., Linda J. Andrew of Rumney, N.H., and Carol M. Zeeve of Vienna, Va.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Madeline A. Wood

EXETER - Madeline A. Wood, 87, of Riverwoods Road, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at RiverWoods At Exeter after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of Arthur and Leah Snyder Dozois. She graduated from Manchester Central High School and was a 1934 graduate of Wheaton College. She received the Degre Superieur at the Sorbonne, University of Paris.

She played piano for at many community gatherings and taught French at the Trefethen School in New Castle, where she lived for many years. She also tutored adults in French and worked at the library at the University of New Hampshire.

Her volunteer efforts benefited Portsmouth Hospital, the Portsmouth Community Concert Series, the League of Women Voters, Strawbery Banke Guild, and the Warner House.

She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed traveling.

She was the wife of the late Ralph Wood.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Kimball of Springfield, Vt., two daughters, Leah Scott of Chadds Ford, Pa., and Wendy Pirsig of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

George A. Boone Sr.

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mr. George A. Boone Sr., 84, of 38 Wilson Ave., Moody, Maine, were held Saturday at Buckminster Chapel. The Rev. David S. McCarthy, pastor of the Advent Christian Church in Portsmouth, officiated.

George A. Boone, Jennifer Boone, Tifany Fleming, and Sandy Roseberry gave words of remembrance.

Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Eliot, in the spring.
