Richard W. Davis

AIKEN, S.C. - Richard W. Davis, 75, formerly of Rochester died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at the Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Born March 18, 1924, in Marlboro, Mass., he was the son of Dr. George and Mabel (Kerr) Davis.

He was a longtime resident of Haverhill and Rochester where he resided for 15 years before recently moving to Aiken, S.C. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Waterways as a civil engineer where he retired after 40 years. He is a member of the Emmanuel Advent Christian Church in Rochester where he was responsible for maintenance and grounds keeping, he is also a member of the Masons Merrimac Lodge of Haverhill, Mass.

He was the husband of the late Janet Davis. She died in 1997.

Survivors include his daughter, Maria Floyd of Aiken, S.C.; three stepdaughters, Deborah Smith, Diane McCown and Gayle Shaw all of Hampton; a stepson, David Shaw of Stark, Maine; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Irene Petroff of Fremont Calif.

George A. Boone

MOODY, Maine - George A. Boone Sr., 84, of 38 Wilson Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the Veterans Home in Scarborough.

He was born in Davidson, Maine on July 1, 1915, the son of Harry Leon and Flora A. (Lane) Boone.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He formerly owned and operated Boone trucking in Portsmouth for many years, and before his retirement was employed as a pipefitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

He an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of Emerson Hovey Post No. 168, VFW of Portsmouth and the Frank E. Booma Post No. 6, American Legion of Portsmouth.

He was the husband of the late Harriett L. (Perkins) Boone.

Survivors include two sons, George A. Boone of Moody, Maine, and Richard G. Boone of Hastings, Minn.; four grandchildren, Kelly Boone of Lakeland, Fla., Jennifer Boone of Lowell, Mass., Tifany Fleming of Chandler, Ariz., and Jason Boone of Oswego, N.Y.; two brothers, Ronald A. Boone of Lincoln, Maine, and Clifton R. Boone of Portsmouth; a sister, Patricia A. Blair of Stratham; and several nieces and nephews.

G. William Behan

DOVER - G. William Behan, 80, of 9 Hawthorn Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

Born in Dover, Aug. 1, 1919, he was the son of George W. and Laura (Kearney) Behan. He was a graduate of Dover High School, class of 1937 and served in the Army during World War II. He also attended the University of New Hampshire.

He was the superintendent of the electrical shop at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard before his retirement in 1979 after 40 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.

He was a member and past president of Dover Lions Club and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 1995, an honor bestowed upon him for his dedicated and humanitarian service. In addition, he was past president of Chapter 528, National Association of Retired Federal Employees; past director of the New Hampshire Soap Box Derby; and a member of the American Legion, Dover Post No. 8. During his sons' youth, he was involved with the Cub Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Malo) Behan whom he married June 5, 1948.

Other survivors include two sons and their wives, William J. and Stephanie Behan, and Richard A. and Sharon Behan, all of Dover; two daughters, Marilyn B. Belovarac and husband, Kenneth Belovarac, of Quincy, Mass., and Carole B. Berry and her husband, Robert Berry, of Dover; eight grandchildren, Marc W. Behan, Scott R. Behan, Michael G. Behan and Mollie K. Behan, all of Dover, Kenneth A. Belovarac and Jeffrey J. Belovarac both of Quincy, Bryan P. Berry and R. Chase Berry of Dover; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, and two brothers.

Douglas W. Wellwood

DOVER - Douglas W. Wellwood, 36, of East Street, Dover, formerly of North and South Berwick, died suddenly on Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Born Sept. 7, 1963 in York, he was the son of Allen J. and Rosemarie Lauze Wellwood. He attended Noble High School in Berwick. He had been a truck driver in the local area for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, snowmobiling and especially spending time with his children.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Allen J. and Joanne Wellwood of Lebanon, Maine; fiancee, Therese Gordon of Dover; a son, Wayne Wellwood; two daughters, Desiree Lambert and Bryanne Wellwood, all from South Berwick; a stepdaughter, Cayla Gordon, of Dover; two brothers, John and Thomas Wellwood, both of North Berwick; one sister, Tina Trudeau of Bradford, Vt.; a stepsister, Brenda Nickerson of Pembroke; and four nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother in 1994 and a brother, Allen Wellwood, in 1990.

David J. Hegarty

RYE BEACH - The funeral for David J. Hegarty, 73, of Rye Beach, was held Tuesday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Theresa Church.

The Rev. Maurice Lavigne, pastor, was celebrant. Salvatore DiVincenzo was acolyte. Judith Kish was organist and Judith Silverman and the Rev. Robert Thompson were soloists.

His three children, Laura E. Cannon, Linda A. Hegarty, and David J. Hegarty Jr., placed the pall on the casket. The readings were offered by Maureen Blouin. His two grandchildren, Eric and Victoria Cannon presented the gifts to the altar. His son-in-law, John Cannon, delivered the eulogy.

Burial followed in the Central Cemetery, Rye, with committal prayers offered by Fr. Lavigne. The United States flag, which was placed on the casket, was presented to Mr. Hegarty's widow, Gloria (Caldarone) Hegarty, who then presented it to her son.

Honorary pallbearers were Harry M. Tallman, Joseph F. Terrasi, Robert J. Foley, James H. Hoffman, and Kenneth E. Mulligan.

Prayers were offered at the funeral home on Monday afternoon by Rev. Lavigne.

Philip R. Henderson

YORK - Philip Roberts Henderson, 83, of 21 Raydon Road, formerly of South Berwick, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at York Hospital.

Born Sept. 11, 1916, in Rollinsford, he was the son of Wilbur A. and Clara H. (Roberts) Henderson. He graduated from Berwick Academy and from the University of New Hampshire.

A veteran, he served in the Army during World War II.

He was owner and operator of The Snack Bar of South Berwick for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was former treasurer of the sewer district for the town of South Berwick. He was a member of the St. John's Masonic Lodge and a member of the South Berwick Board of Trade.

He moved to York in 1987 from South Berwick.

He is survived by his wife, Alma (Lawton) Henderson of York.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Jan, of York; and a sister, Ruth H. Caine, of York.

Philomena Sullivan

YORK - Philomena Sullivan, 85, of Long Sands Road, the wife of Joseph Sullivan, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at York Hospital.

Born May 9, 1914, in Fallo, Chieti, Italy, the daughter of Carmine and Rosa (Castracane) DiSciullo. She came to the United States at the age of 7, and graduated high school in Boston.

She had been a librarian at the Boston Public Library for many years before moving here 30 years ago.

She was a communicant of St. Christopher Church and attended Mass daily. She was also a member of the Old York Garden Club and York Extension and a member of the board of directors of York Community Services.

She was an avid gardener and a celebrated cook. She had received many honors from the American Cancer Society and was named cook of the month by the Portsmouth Herald. She was well-known for her piccalilli mint jelly and her homemade soap, which she donated to various church fairs.

She was a woman of remarkable energy and spirit who thought of others before herself. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph F. Sullivan of York.

Other survivors include a son, Joseph F. Sullivan Jr. of Andover, Mass., and Kittery Point; four daughters, Rosemary Turner of Glastonbury, Conn., Geraldine Kellogg of Brandon, Fla., Patricia Butler of Norwell, Mass., and Maureen Gareau of Almonte, Ontario; a brother, Joseph DiSciullo of Reading, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.

Joseph E. Daneault

HAMPTON - Funeral services for Mr. Joseph E. Daneault, 96, of 22 Tuck Road, were held from Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth on Monday, with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Portsmouth. The Rev. Edward Kelly, pastor, was celebrant.

The readings were given by Eileen Foley. Altar servers were Elizabeth Dellea and Henry Moffett. Crossbearer was Mary Ferguson. Marion Arnoldy was organist and cantor was Jennifer Sanders.

In attendance were communicants of the church.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by Rev. Kelley.

Bearers were Rick LaBerge, Alan LaBerge, Tom LaBerge, Jason Daneault, Christopher McKenna, and Michael LaBerge.

Honorary bearers were Robert Marshall Jr., and Daniel Marshall.

Rev. Kelley held wake services Sunday evening at Buckminster Chapel.

Eleanor E. Williams

PORTSMOUTH - Eleanor E. (Richardson) Williams, 88, the widow of Rudolph Williams, of 245 Middle St., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth.

Born May 5, 1911 in Cambridge, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Etta (DeLaine) Richardson. She attended Portsmouth schools.

She had been employed as a key punch operator for Massachusetts Social Services. She also worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard during World War II.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth; a Grand Worthy Matron of John J. Smith Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Boston, Mass. and Newburyport, Mass. Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader and liked to travel.

Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine M. Palmer of Portsmouth; a granddaughter, Judith Baumann of California; a great-grandson Zechariah; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and a dear friend of Renee Goins.

She was predeceased by a brother Kenneth D. Richardson.

Douglas W. Wellwood

DOVER - Douglas W. Wellwood, 36, of East Street, Dover, formerly of North and South Berwick, died suddenly on Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Rena E. Lovett

RYE - Rena E. (Priest) Lovett, 89, the widow of Kenneth L. Lovett, of 181 Brackett Road, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Seacoast Health Center in Hampton.

Born Jan. 23, 1911, in Cambridge, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Mary E. (Doherty) Priest. She was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire.

Prior to her retirement, she was an art supervisor and music teacher for the Hampton School District. She also taught art in Rye and for many years had taught art classes at the Isles of Shoals.

She attended the Rye Bethany Church and the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela J. Piper of Rye; a son, Harold Horton III, of Downington, Pa.; five grandchildren, Mary E. Comeau of North Hampton, Daniel L. Downey of Portsmouth, Leah E. Sharrock of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Bethany A. Bishop of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Joshua J. Horton of Downington, Pa.; and four great-grandchildren.

Ronald Cacarillo

LEE - Ronald Cacarillo, 53, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Cacarillo.

Born in Revere, Mass., he was the son of Joseph and Leonora Cacarillo. He attended the University of Corpus Christi and found his calling when he was certified as a teaching golf pro by the United States Golf Teachers Federation.

He worked at The Ledges, Bramber Valley and was the golf pro at Apple Hill Golf Club in East Kingston. He was a mentor to many and loved to create occasions for laughter and celebration among his family and friends. His lifelong dream of playing golf at St. Andrews in Scotland came true in June of 1999. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara.

Other survivors include two sons Austin and Andrew; a brother, Joseph of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his sister-in-law, Marcia Van Dyke of North Hampton; and his beloved niece and nephews, Kristen, Peter, Nick, Rob, Daniel and David.
