Arthur Hopley
PORTSMOUTH - Memorial services for Arthur Henry Percival Hopley, 87, of 1365 South St., were held Saturday from Buckminster Chapel, with services at North Congregational Church in Market Square.
The Rev. Reva Karstens, interim pastor, officiated. Psalms were read by grandson, Michael Parr, and granddaughter, Karen B. Parr. Words of remembrance were given by his son, Richard A. Hopley. Wendall Purrington was soloist and organist was Richard Gremlitz.
In attendance were members of the church; representatives from St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth; Portsmouth Rotary; Warwick Club; National Association of Postmasters; and the Portsmouth Country Club.
The American flag was presented to his widow, Dorothy (Foster) Hopley.
Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, at a later date.
Richard J. Owens
PORTSMOUTH - Memorial services for Richard J. Owens, 63, of 269 Main St., Eliot, were held Saturday at Buckminster Chapel. The Rev. John Filler, pastor of the Newington Congregational Church, officiated.
Words of remembrance were given by Charles Gasper and Allan Dame. Masonic services were given by St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM, including Wor. Master Donald L. Stevens; Senior Deacon Peter Paisley; Secretary Glen Gordon, PM; Calvin C. Wilder, PM; Francis N. Bridge, PM; A. Kenneth Day, PM; and Ensley Tibbetts, PM.
In attendance were representatives from St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth, and the Sunrise Grill.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Thomas H. Collins
HAMPTON - Thomas H. Collins, 72, a year-round resident of Hampton and formerly of Methuen, Mass., died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at his home.
Born March 29, 1927, in Lawrence, Mass., he was the son of the late Henry and Katherine (Hyland) Collins. He had lived in Hampton for 10 years.
A retired attorney, he was a 1948 graduate of Harvard College and a 1951 graduate of Harvard Law School.
He was a member and past president of the Essex Bar and Lawrence Bar associations. He was also a past chairman of Client's Security Board, and former member of the Methuen School Board and school building committees.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Abenaqui Country Club, Rye Beach, and former member of the Vespers Country Club in Tyngsboro, Mass.
He was the husband of Rosemary T. (Dobson) Collins for 48 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Anne Hodson of Rye, David Collins of Napa, Calif., Chris Collins of Hampton, Ellen Galvin of Hampton, and Thomas Collins of Honolulu; and five grandchildren.
William A. Mosteller
ELIOT - William A. Mosteller, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at the U.S. Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Mass., after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born Feb. 19, 1912, he was the son of James Wilbur and Florence Pollock Mosteller of Orlando, Fla. He spent his youth in the South, graduating cum laude from Rollins College in 1934.
In 1942, he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater and later in the Korean Conflict. He also served a tour of duty in Trinidad and later in Japan. He retired from the Navy in 1964, with the rank of lieutenant commander, and settled in Maine.
Having always been deeply interested in music, after retirement he resumed that interest and devoted a great deal of time to music _ especially to singing. He was well known in the Seacoast area and was in demand as a baritone soloist.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Portsmouth, serving as a baritone soloist there for many years.
He was also a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge of Portsmouth, the Scottish Rite and The Sojourner's Club.
He was the husband of Marian Manter Mosteller for 25 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two stepdaughters, Elizabeth M. Naughton of Lexington, Mass., and Barbara M. Barrett of Baltimore, Md.; one nephew, James W. Mosteller of San Diego, Calif.; one niece, Mary M. Stuckey of Boulder, Colo.; four step-granddaughters; seven step-great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
He was a predeceased by a brother and sister.
Nelson E. Ramsdell Jr.
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Nelson E. Ramsdell Jr., 79, of 61 September Drive, Greenland, were held from Buckminster Chapel, with services at Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth.
The Rev. Vivan H. Martindale, pastor, officiated. Ushers were Louis L. Dow, Edgar W. Anderson, Al Coyle and Jack Foster. Murray McNair was organist.
In attendance were members of the church; representatives from St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth; St. Andrew's Lodge No. 56 F&AM of Portsmouth; Naval Lodge No. 184 AF&AM of Kittery; St. John's No. 1 Special Ladies; NARFE; Scottish Rite Bodies of Portsmouth and Dover; Consistory 32 degree of Nashua; Bektash Temple of Concord; Portsmouth Ham Radio Club; and the Portsmouth Garden Club.
Burial was Central Cemetery, Rye, with committal services by the Rev. Martindale.
The American flag that draped the casket was folded and presented to his widow, Edith Louise (Frink) Ramsdell, who presented it to Lennox B. Henderson II, to be donated to the Masonic Temple in Portsmouth.
Pallbearers were Thomas Hand Sr., Thomas Hand Jr., Scott Malone, Charles Hand, Ray Moquin and Lennox B. Henderson II.
Honorary bearers were J. Robert Malone, Robert Fleming, Charles P. Hand, Joseph O. Leary, John Welch and Harry Fleischman.
Masonic services were held at the chapel Wednesday evening by St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth, including Worship Master Donald L. Stevens, PM; Chaplain A. Kenneth Day, PM; Sen. Warden George N. Flanders, PM; Junior Warden, Canio D. Petruzzi, PM; Sen. Deacon Peter E. Paisley; treasurer, Edgar W. Anderson, PM; representatives from the Grand Lodge of the state of New Hampshire, Richard R. Schanda, grand master, and Jeremy J. Sawyer, deputy grand master.
Also assisting in services were Calvin C. Wilder, PM; Louis L. Dow; Ralph R. Woodman; Dante Caminati; Vern Anderson; Bill Sawyer; Robert L. Sutherland Sr.; PM; Robert H. Jorma G. Osmo
PORTSMOUTH - Jorma G. Osmo, 83, of 188 Jones Ave., died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Sun Bridge Nursing Home after a lengthy period of illness.
Born July 23, 1916, in Lanesville, Mass., he was the son of George and Mary (Harju) Osmo.
Over the past 30 years, he worked in many governmental positions, most recently as an administrative officer for the Small Business Administration in New England.
He was the husband of the late Rita (Lingley) Osmo.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Linda) Grucel of North Conway; two grandchildren; one sister, Irma Boardman of Concord, Mass.; and one niece and one nephew.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
Edith G. Warren
HAMPTON - The funeral for Edith G. Warren, 92, of Hampton, was held Thursday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. Services were conducted at the Trinity Episcopal Church. The Rev. Dr. Warren H. Deane, rector, officiated. Jane Kirk was acolyte. Anne Shumway Rowe was organist. Her grandchildren offered words of remembrance. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Westford, Mass., with the committal service conducted by the Rev. John Miller, rector of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Westford.
Dorothy P. Brolin
HAMPTON - The funeral for Dorothy P. Brolin, 70, formerly of North Hampton, was held Thursday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. George E. Ham, pastor, was the celebrant. Acolytes were Edward Wakeen, Robert Grissemeer and George Glenfield. Nelson K. Ward was organist and Patrice Chaisson was soloist.
Sister Doris Ouellette, C.S.C., Sister Theresa Malouin , C.S.C., and Stephen Quevillon offered the readings. Lou Brolin Matheney and Taylor Quevillon presented the gifts to the altar.
Her son, Douglas A. Brolin, offered words of remembrance. Burial followed in Center Cemetery, North Hampton, with the Rite of Committal conducted by the Rev. Ham. Pallbearers were Douglas Brolin, Stephen Quevillon, Remi Abbott, Mark Evans, Rob Ryeack, Frank Resca and Jeff Wright.
Gaetano L. Raiti
YORK - Gaetano "Guy" L. Raiti, 72, of 266 Nubble Road, York, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at his home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness.
Born in Haverhill, Mass., on May 1, 1927, the son of Salvatore and Concetta (Bucchieri) Raiti, he attended local schools and attained his bachelor's degree in education.
He served his country as a member of the Navy, and then was a dedicated teacher for 35 years at Haverhill Trade School.
He was the husband of Pauline M. (Dobrowolski) Raiti.
In addition to his widow, family members include two sons, Paul A. Raiti of Wells, and Guy R. Raiti and his wife, Kimberly, of Littleton, Mass.; four daughters, Bianca R. Garside and her husband, Edwin, of Methuen, Mass., Felicia M. Motherway and her husband, Michael, of Haverhill, Mass., Marisa A. Farrell and her husband, Louis, of Atkinson, and Andrea L. Loving and her husband, Anthony, of Raymond; and three grandchildren, Briana Garside, Tony Garside and Benjamin Raiti.
Helen G. McIntyre
South Berwick - Helen G. McIntyre, 71, of 73 Academy St., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Dover on June 10, 1928, she was the daughter of Willis L. and Gertrude (Stuart) Clough. She lived in Dover, York and South Berwick all her lifetime.
Before her retirement she was a nurse's aid at Harbor Home in York Harbor, and was also a caregiver to friends, an uncle and two aunts.
She is survived by a son, Richard W. Clough Sr., and his wife Jeri of South Berwick; two grandsons, Richard W. Clough II of Saco, and Zebulon G. H. Clough of Rollinsford; two brothers, Norman W. Clough Sr., of Sanford, and Russell C. Clough of Concord, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Hampton - Thomas H. Collins, 72, of 40 Beach Plum Way, Hampton, husband of Rosemary (Dobson) Collins, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 3 to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. If desired, donations may be made to as charity of one's choice. A complete obituary will be announced in Saturday's newspaper.
William J. Souza
EAST KINGSTON - The funeral for William J. Souza, 66, of 52 South Road was held Wednesday in the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.
The Rev. Dr. John M. Barner, pastor of the United Methodist Church, East Kingston, officiated.
Words of remembrance were offered by Wayne Souza, Denise Iby and Diane Blackwell.
Spring burial will be in the Union Cemetery, East Kingston.

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Arthur E. Irish Jr., 90, of 245 Middle St., were held yesterday at Buckminster Chapel. The Rev. Reva Karstens, interim pastor of the North Congregational Church, officiated.
Organist was Marjorie Scully. Masonic services were held by St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM including Donald L. Stevens, worshipful master, PM; Bill Sawyer, senior warden; Canio D. Petruzzi, junior warden, PM; Edgar W. Anderson, treasurer, PM; George N. Flanders, PM; Dante Caminati; Harold G. Crossman, PM; Kenneth Day, PM; Calvin Wilder, PM; and Francis N. Bridge, PM. Also assisting in services was Charles W. Abbott of Naval Lodge No. 184 AF&AM of Kittery.
In attendance were members of the North Congregational Church and representatives from St. John's Lodge No. 1 F&AM and St. Andrew's Lodge No. 56 F&AM.

Frederick R. Webb
PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Frederick R. Webb, 76, of 437 Peverly Hill Road, were held at Buckminster Chapel yesterday. The Rev. Reva Karstens, interim pastor of the North Congregational Church, officiated.
In attendance were representatives from the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
The American flag was folded and presented to Mr. Webb's son, Thomas E. Webb.
Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, with committal services by the Rev. Karstens.
Pall bearers were Mike Lowery, Mike Moulton, Steve Golden, Rick Thomas, Paul Deachsteiner and Doug Berry.
