Muriel R. Hunt

HAMPTON - The funeral for Muriel R. Hunt, 73, of 22 Tuck Road, Hampton, formerly of Merrimac, Mass., was held yesterday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home. The Rev. Carroll Moore, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated. Jean Goss was organist. Burial was in High Street Cemetery, Hampton with committal conducted by the Rev. Moore. Scottish laments wee offered by Amanda Wright.

Bearers were Jim Hunt, Scott Hunt, Rick Aucoin, Robert Hunt, David Doughty, Kevin Bouchard and Ronald Bouchard.

Carol Freeman

HAILEY, Idaho - Carol Freeman, 40, of Hailey, Idaho, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, after a lengthy illness.

Born on March 20, 1959, in Hampton, she was the daughter of Marion L. and the late Emery E. Freeman.

A 1975 graduate of Winnacunnet High School, she moved to Hailey and lived there most of her married life.

She is survived by her husband Vaughn Palmer.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mariah; and two brothers, Robert E. Freeman of Glendora, Calif., and Alan H. Freeman of North Hampton.

David Faulkner

ZEPHYR HILLS, Fla. - David Faulkner, 91, of Zephyr Hills, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Sunbelt Health Care.

Born in Portsmouth, he lived in Eliot, Maine until moving to Florida in 1993.

He was a retired shipyard worker.

A member of the Advent Christian Church, he was also a Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha.

Other survivors include a sister, Louise Gilmore of Gonic, N.H.; and several step children.

Leah M. LeRoy

EXETER - Leah Margaret LeRoy, 86, of 137 Court St., died on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Exeter Healthcare after a lengthy illness.

Born March 9, 1913, in Newton, she was the daughter of Glenroy and Doris (Thornell) Colby.

She grew up in Newton and graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, and for the past 64 years lived in Exeter.

She was employed at the Exeter Clinic for several years as a secretary.

An active member and church organist at the First Baptist Church of Exeter for many years, she was also a church organist at Newton Baptist Church. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church Falathia ladies group.

She was the widow of Gerald B. LeRoy, who died in 1995.

She and her husband were known throughout New Hampshire for having played at concerts at 33 churches. She played the organ and he played the violin.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas B. LeRoy of Exeter and Robert LeRoy of Dover; one daughter, Suzanne Gertig of Arvada, Colo.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine Foy of Newton, and Virginia Bunker of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, David LeRoy.

Wanda A. Blaney

HOLYOKE, Mass. - Wanda A. Blaney, 86, of 39 West Summit St., No. 34, South Hadley, Mass., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at the Holyoke Hospital.

Born May 11, 1913, in London, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Anna Alice (Slagle) Teach.

She had lived in Massachusetts for the past year and a half; before that she had lived in South Portland, Maine for 10 years.

She was an avid bridge player, played the organ, and enjoyed doing needlework.

She was the wife of Donald A. Blaney for more than 66 years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Granitz of Indian Springs, Ohio, and Bette B. Roberts of Belchertown, Mass.; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Adeline D. Connelly

AURORA, Ill. - Adeline Denoncour Connelly, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at her home in the Countryside Care Center after a lengthy period of failing health.

Born June 24, 1915, in Exeter, she was the daughter of Emile and Mary (Richards) Denoncour.

She had resided in Exeter for 72 years, later moving to Beverly, Mass., for several years before relocating to Columbus, Ohio, for five years and then Aurora.

She was a graduate of Robinsons Female Seminary in Kingston and a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Exeter.

In her spare time she was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Exeter Country Club.

She was the wife of John J. Connelly, who died in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Maureen Ramini of Topsfield, Mass., and Joyce Buchmann of Stratford, Conn.; two sons, John J. Connelly of Naperville,, Ill., and Martin Connelly of Thornton, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Edna McLane of Barrington, R.I.; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda A. Blaney

James H. Blaisdell

YORK - James H. Blaisdell, 65, of 139 Southside Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a short period of illness.

Born March 25, 1934, in York, he was the son of James F. and Marion (Cooke) Blaisdell and was a 1953 graduate of York High School. He served in the Army.

Before retiring in 1996, he was a pipefitter in Shop 56 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 22 years. He and his brother, Henry, had operated the Blaisdell Brothers Farm in Southside Road, which has been operated by the Blaisdell Family for many generations.

He was also a member of St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge No. 198 of York and the American Legion Post No. 56.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna L. (Wells) Blaisdell.

In addition to his wife other survivors include four sons, David S. Blaisdell of Saco, Douglas M. Blaisdell and his wife, Sally, of York, Michael T. Blaisdell and his wife, Susan, of York, and Matthew J. Blaisdell of York; a brother, Henry Blaisdell and his wife, Patricia, of York; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Charlotte) Proctor of York; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy and Christopher Blaisdell.

Ethel E. Blake

KITTERY - Ethel E. Blake, 102, of 19 Love Lane, Kittery, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at the Homestead Nursing Care Center.

Born July 2, 1897, in Kittery, she was the daughter of Forest and Grace (Jenkins) Moore, and attended local schools.

She worked for many years as a housekeeper in private homes.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kittery Point. In addition, she was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Piscataqua chapter and the Amicus Club of the First Christian Church in Kittery Point. In her spare time, she enjoyed making quilts and Barbie doll clothes.

She was the wife of the late Herbert L. Blake.

She is survived by a son, Everett Blake of Kittery; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Blake.

Edmund L. Barker

STRATHAM - Edmund L. Barker, 84, of Stratham Green died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Exeter Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1915, in Arlington, Mass., he was the son of Douglass and Beulah (Pritchard) Barker. He had resided in Stratham for 11 years.

A 1933 graduate of Winchendon (Mass.) High School, he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1937 and was a registered professional engineer.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 where he held the rank of captain in the Corps of Engineers in Europe.

In 1950, he was recalled to active duty in the New Hampshire National Guard and served as a colonel in Korea.

A civil engineer, he was employed with the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission from 1937 until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the site evaluation committee (1971-76) and a staff member of NARUC Commission on Electric Energy (1970-76). Other job-related involvement included: Organizing and chairing the first New England Public Utility Commissions' Telephone Staff Committee to investigate and recommend resolutions to telephone problems common to New England states; organized and chaired the first New England Public Utilities Commissions' Electric Staff Committee formed to cooperate with the Federal Power Commission in working toward the formation of the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL).

From 1965 to 1973, he was a trustee of New Hampshire retirement system. While living in Concord, he was treasurer of the Concord Baseball Little League (1954-59); manager of the Concord Kiwanis Little League baseball team (1954-56); past president of the Concord Kiwanis Club (1957); and for several years was treasurer of the Concord Arts and Crafts.

He was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard from 1940 to 1961, past president of the National Guard Officers Association (1956-57), and a member of Gov. Gregg's military staff (1953-55).

He was also a charter member of the State Employees Association and member of the board of directors from 1964 to 1975, chairman of the legislative committee from 1968 to 1974, and chairman of the retirement committee from 1970 to 1974.

He was also a member of the New Hampshire Society of Professional Engineers and chaired its ethics committee from 1964 to 1970, and was the director of the Stratham Green Condominium Association when he died.

He was the husband of Mary (McCuin) Barker, of Stratham, for 15 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mary Thomson and her husband, Peter, of Fort Bliss, Texas; two grandchildren; five stepchildren, Mark Coellner, James Coellner, Nan Coellner, Mari Crane and Roseann Chang; 13 stepgrandchildren; and two nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Darlene (Morrison) Barker.

Frederick R. Webb

PORTSMOUTH - Frederick R. Webb, 76, of 437 Peverly Hill Road, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born Sept. 2, 1923, in Oak Hill, W. Va., he was the son of Edward L. and Harriett C. (Stephenson) Webb.

He was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and served in the Navy aboard a submarine during World War II. He was employed as sales manager at National Gypsum for 37 years.

He was a member of the World War II submarine veterans organization, and was a volunteer at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Thomas) Webb.

Survivors include a son, Thomas E. Webb of Portsmouth; a daughter, Joan C. Lowery of Greenland; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
