Paul H. Richardson

HAMPTON - Paul H. Richardson, 97, of 22 Burgundy Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at the Exeter Hospital.

He was born in Middleton, Mass., on June 27, 1903, the son of the late Hazen K. and Gertrude D. (Kean) Richardson.

He was a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy, attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and received his degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.

He was employed by his family's business, Richardson's Dairy in Middleton. He also worked as a chemist for the Haverhill GasLight Co.; as a technical representative for Fisher Scientific in Pittsburgh; and as a division manager for Sargent Welch Scientific Co. in Detroit.

He had resided here since 1969, coming from Detroit where he resided for 28 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church here and was a former member of the American Chemical Society of Pittsburgh and Detroit. He was also a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, the Hampton Senior Citizens Club, and the former Hampton Kiwanis Club.

Family members include his wife of 65 years, Gertrude R. (Black) Richardson of Hampton; two daughters Carol G. Bjorkman of Saratoga, Calif.; and Susan R. Finch of Novi, Mich.; two grandsons, Peter and William Bjorkman; two sisters, Lillian G. Richardson of Topsfield, Mass.; and Helen F. Coughlin of Wenham, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

RICHARDSON - Paul H. Richardson, 97, of 22 Burgandy Drive, Hampton, died Feb. 4, 2001. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, donations may be made to Exeter Hospital, 10 Buzell Ave., Exeter, NH 03833. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton, Mass., at a later date. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Virginia Critchett

BRENTWOOD - Virginia Critchett, 88, formerly of South Main Street, Newmarket, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at the Rockingham Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past six years.

Born Feb. 2, 1913, in Boston, she was the daughter of Roy and Florence (Clark) Blaisdell. She had lived in Newmarket for many years.

She was a shoe stitcher and had worked in various shoe factories in the area.

She was a member of the Newmarket Community Church and a former member of the Newmarket Women's Club.

She was the wife of the late Robert Critchett, who died in 1971.

Survivors include a stepson, Robert Critchett of Newmarket; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Clifton (Phyllis) Clark and Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Holmes of Newmarket; and one cousin.

CRITCHETT - Virginia Critchett, 88, of Brentwood and formerly of South Main Street, Newmarket, died Feb. 4, 2001. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home, with the Rev. David Wuori officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Forest Glade Cemetery, Somersworth.

Jason H. Langley

ROCHESTER - Jason H. Langley, 30, of Sprucewood Drive, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at his home after a sudden illness.

Born Aug. 10, 1970, in Dover, he was the son of Judy (Howe) Berry.

He was a lifelong resident of Rochester. He was employed at Simplex as an inspector. A graduate of Spaulding High School, he enjoyed playing football, pool, golf and poker. He also enjoyed the many friends that he had.

Members of his family include his mother, Judy (Howe) Berry of Rochester; a stepfather, Barry Rousseau of Gonic; his maternal grandmother, Doreen Howe of Somersworth; his paternal grandmother, Lee Langley of Berwick, Maine; his sister, Bobbi Joe Berry and her fiance, Chris Sterns, of Rochester; his girlfriend of 11 years, Christine Cox of Rochester; and aunts and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Arnold Howe, and his paternal grandfather, Wallace Langley.

LANGLEY - Jason H. Langley, 30, of Sprucewood Drive, Rochester, died Feb. 2, 2001. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Monday) at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, NH 03867. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, Charles Street, Rochester, with Father Francis Kelso as celebrant. Burial will be in the spring in the Rochester Cemetery.

Andrew J. Conway Jr.

PORTSMOUTH - Andrew J. "Andy" Conway Jr., 76, husband of Priscilla J. (MacDonald) Conway, of 3205 Lafayette Road, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at his home.

He was born in Scranton, Pa., on July 29, 1925, the son of the late Claire and Andrew Conway Sr.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years, working as accounts maintenance clerk (1st class), before retiring with a service-connected disability in 1954.

He graduated from McIntosh College in Dover in 1959.

He worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard supply department for approximately 13 years before retiring in 1978.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), Portsmouth; and a member of the Frank E. Booma Post No. 6 American Legion, Portsmouth.

Besides his wife of 50 years, survivors include one daughter, Patricia Haywood Nutt and her husband, Gordon, of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; one granddaughter, Ami Haywood of Cape Coral, Fla.; one grandson, Ryan Haywood of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three sisters, Claire Schmitt of Fairfax Station, Va.; Jean Lee of Odenton, Md.; and Rosemary Condolon of Gambrells, Md.; three brothers, Gerald Conway of Leesburg, Fla.; Thomas Conway of Scranton, Pa.; and James Conway of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Paul, John, Lawrence and Leo.

CONWAY - Andrew J. "Andy" Conway Jr., 76, of 3205 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, died Feb. 2, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James Church, 2075 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth. Friends invited. Visiting hours from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in Andrew's memory may be made to Portsmouth Home Health and Hospice, 95 Albany St., Unit 11, Portsmouth, NH 03801. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth.

Raymond Demers

NEWMARKET - Raymond "Moe" Demers, 78, of New Road died Feb. 2, 2001, at the Exeter Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Sept. 8, 1922, in Newmarket, he was the son of Israel and Sarah (St. Cyr) Demers and was a lifelong resident of Newmarket.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.

He worked as a pipefitter in Shop 56 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982.

He enjoyed gardening. He was well-known for his fresh vegetables at the vegetable stand located near his garden.

He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin A.L. Post No. 67, and Lamprey Aerie No. 1934 F.O.E. both in Newmarket.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, M. Rose (St. Hilaire) Demers of Newmarket; two daughters, Nancy Brown and her husband, Irving "Jack" Brown III, and Nappy Crowley and her husband, Ronald Crowley, all of Newmarket; four grandchildren, Angela Stafford, Jessica Byrd, Matthew Russell and Nathan Russell; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Demers of Newmarket; four sisters, M. Rose Dionne of Brentwood, Bertha Pelletier of Newmarket, Blanche Dube of Center Ossipee and M. Florence Levesque of Epping; and many nieces and nephews.

DEMERS - Raymond "Moe" Demers, 78, of New Road, Newmarket, died Feb. 2, 2001. Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today (Monday) at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. American Legion services will be held at 12:50 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service with the Rev. Brian Blair officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket. Rather than flowers, memorials may be made to the Newmarket Ambulance Corps Association, P.O. Box 183, Newmarket, NH 03857.

Andrew J. "Andy" Conway Jr.

J. Alfred A. Labrie

RYE - J. Alfred A. Labrie, of Rye, died Feb. 5, 2001, at his home, after a prolonged illness. He was born in Suncook on May 10, 1915, the son of William O. and Angelina (Guignard) Labrie. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Cushing) Labrie, with whom he had celebrated 51 years of marriage.

By profession, he was a master electrician. During World War II, he was employed in the electrical department at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was instrumental in the submarine-building process.

He later served as electrical supervisor at the Schiller Power Generating Station in Newington. After his retirement, he moved from Portsmouth to his home in Rye, where he enjoyed many happy years.

He was a third-degree Knight of Columbus and was listed in "Two Thousand Men of Achievement." He will be remembered by many for his generous volunteer service to the local area Meals on Wheels programs.

He was an avid gardener and was renown for his invention of many electronic and electrical gadgets. Associates and family knew that if he could not fix something it could not be fixed. He excelled at carving wood and metal miniatures. He won an award for building unique picture frames.

He was well known for his wit and dry sense of humor. Above all, he will be remembered through time as a loving husband, a caring father and a good citizen.

He is survived by three children, James A. Labrie, of Rye, Christy Anne Labrie, also of Rye, and Raymond W. Labrie, of East Wakefield. He dearly loved his 14 grandchildren and visited often with them. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

LABRIE - J. Alfred A. Labrie, of Rye, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at his home. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at St. Theresa Church, 815 Central Road, Rye. Memorial donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Mary J. Huff

DOVER - Mary J. Huff, 87, of 58 Oak St., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at her home.

Born in Dover on Jan. 22, 1914, daughter of James F. and Delia T. (Cunningham) Clark, she was a graduate of St. Mary School and had lived all her life in Dover.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed good health and reading and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Somersworth.

The widow of George E. Huff, who died in 1990. She is survived by a daughter, Anne T. Kippax, of Portsmouth; two sons, George Huff Jr., of Berwick, Maine, and James F. Huff, of Effingham; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Sr. M. Edvarduas Clark, who died in 1999.

HUFF - Mary J. Huff, 87, of Dover, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Somersworth. Burial will follow in St. Mary New Cemetery, Dover. It is requested that there be family flowers only; those who wish are invited to make memorials in her name to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, 262 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.

Vinnie Dickinson

KEENE, N.H. - Vinnie "Geraldine" Dickinson, 91, of Surry, died on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Harborside Westwood Nursing Home in Keene, after a lengthy illness.

Born on June 13, 1909, in Barrington, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Vinnie Mae (Smallcon) Davis. She graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1926 and received her teaching certificate from Keene Normal School in 1929 after a three-year program. She returned to Keene Teaching College, formerly Keene Normal School, where she received her bachelor's of education in 1963. She taught mathematics for 36 years at Thayer High School in Winchester and later became the assistant principal, where she remained for 22 years. She was the treasurer of the Winchester School District for 31 years.

Family members include her husband of 63 years, Wesley Earle Dickinson; one daughter, Joanne D. Tanner of Melbourne, Fla.; two grandsons, Mark Tanner and Eric Tanner; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Tanner; one brother, Norman Davis of New Port Richey, Fla.; and two nieces.

DICKINSON - Vinnie "Geraldine" Dickinson, 91, of Surry, died on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001. Burial will take place in the family lot in Barrington at a later date.
