Judith "Judi" Kasterke-Larue

KITTERY, Maine - A largely attended funeral was held Friday at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home for Judith "Judi" Kasterke-Larue, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at York Hospital. The Rev. Steve Searing of the Hope Community Church in Dover, N.H., delivered a very moving and meaningful service and recited a very special poem written by a nephew, Brenton Wyman. Her favorite song, "It's a Wonderful World," by Louie Armstrong, was played during the service and family members let colored balloons go into the air in Judi's memory after the funeral was over.

All of her friends and relatives came to the funeral on Friday, and the visiting hours the night before in casual attire, the way Judi would have wanted it. Instead of the traditional music heard at funerals, the family chose "oldies" and Beatles music at the wake, because she loved that music. The many floral gifts were representative of the love Judi had for garden work. A dedication in her memory at Prescott Park is planned for the future. She was a gardener at Prescott Park in Portsmouth, N.H., for many years.
