Irene J. Barresi

GREENLAND - Irene J. Barresi, 72, of 22 McIntosh Way, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Boston, Mass., May 20, 1928, she was a daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Melendy) Werner and was a longtime resident of Saugus, Mass., before moving here in 1993.

She was employed for many years at McKinnon's Market in Everett Square in Everett, Mass.

The widow of Mario "Mike the Tailor" Barresi, she is survived by a daughter, Jeanne C. Davis and her husband, Gary, of Greenland, with whom she resided; two grandchildren, Robert A. Davis and his wife, Kristin, and Darlene M. Drew and her husband, Kyler; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Hartnett of Everett, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

BARRESI - Irene J. Barresi, 72, of 22 McIntosh Way, Greenland, died April 12, 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. James Church, Route 1, Portsmouth. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, Mass. Memorials may be made to the Guild for Cancer Care Services, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, 330 Borthwick Ave., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Edward J. Sherry

BRENTWOOD - Edward J. Sherry, 74, of Dudley Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Exeter Hospital.

Born Jan. 11, 1927 in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Edward and Sophie (Kilinski) Sherry.

He lived for many years in New Jersey and was a graduate of Snyder High School. He attended Rutgers University in New Jersey.

He worked for many years for Bell Labs as a manager in New Jersey, retiring from the North Andover office. He was also a tool maker and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He resided in Brentwood for 23 years where he was very active in town affairs, serving on the Budget Committee, the Town Building Committee, the Historical Society and was treasurer for the senior citizens. The Brentwood 2000 town report was dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Sherry.

He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II.

He was the husband of Theresa M. (Krajewski) Sherry of Brentwood.

In addition to his wife, family members include one son, Edward M. Sherry of Colorado; two daughters, Susan T. Sherry of Nahant, Mass., and Diane M. Funk of Middlebury, Vt.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Reeves of Texas and Carol Ann Tynan of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

SHERRY - Edward J. Sherry, 74, of Dudley Road, Brentwood, died April 12, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, at St. Michael's Church, Front Street, Exeter. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. Burial will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the Brentwood Historical Society, 1 Dalton Road, Brentwood, NH 03833 or to the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Dorothy I. Nye

BARRE, Mass. - Dorothy I. Nye, 82, of 22 Washburn Road, formerly of 103 El Paso St., Springfield, died on Friday, April 13, 2001, at home after an illness.

Born in New Britain, Conn., she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Nelson) Coughlin. she was a graduate of Chicopee High School and lived in Springfield from 1954 to 1998. She moved to York Harbor, Maine, in 1998 for two years before moving to Barre in January 2001.

She was a member of the East Congregational Church in East Springfield, Mass. She was very active in the church as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Women's Guild.

She formed the Wacky Widows Club of Springfield. Her husband Richard E. Nye died in 1981.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Edward N. Nye of York, Maine, Richard E. Nye of Tully, N.Y., and Cheryl McKie of York Beach, Maine; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

NYE - Dorothy I. Nye of 22 Washburn Road, Barre, Mass., died April 13, 2001. Funeral arrangements will be at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 So. Barre Road, Barre, MA 01105, is in charge of the arrangements. In Dorothy's memory, donations may be made to the U-Mass Memorial Hospice, 43 Harvard St., Worcester, MA 01609.

Wilfred L. Sanders

SHREWSBURY, Mass. - Wilfred L. Sanders, 86, of Francis Avenue, a retired machinist, died on Thursday, April 12, 2001, in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.

He was born in Marlboro, son of Leroy and Celina (Ethier) Sanders, and lived in Shrewsbury since 1938.

He was a foreman-machinist at several show factories for many years before retiring in 1977.

He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Shrewsbury, and a member of the West Boylston Skeet Club. He was a track star in high school and college; played semiprofessional hockey; was a hockey and ski coach, a ski instructor at Mount Ward; and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the founder of the Pee Wee Hockey League in Worcester.

He graduated from Marlboro High School and attended the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, and Boston College, Chestnut Hill.

He leaves his wife of 67 years, Rose A. (Harpin) Sanders; two sons, Wilfred L. "Jack" Sanders Jr. of Waterville Valley and Stratham, N.H., and Richard P. Sanders of Mattapoisett; a daughter, Susan J. DeLeo of Shrewsbury; a sister, Doris Derosier of Northboro; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

SANDERS - Wilfred L. Sanders of Francis Avenue, Shrewsbury, Mass., died April 12, 2001. His funeral will be held on Monday, April 16 from Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 649 Main St. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Sunday) at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association Inc., 203 Brimbal Ave., Beverly, MA 01915.

Ann F. Wait

RYE - Ann F. Wait, 90, of 795 Washington Road, died on Friday, April 13, 2001, at Webster at Rye.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1911, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late Langdon and Olga (Frothingham) Frothingham. She had resided more than 50 years in Wellesley, Mass., before coming to Rye in 1997.

She was a graduate of the Thomas School in Connecticut. She was an artist, working in oils, and studied in Rockport under Thieme and Hibbard.

She was the widow of William G. Wait, who died in 1995, and was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Wait, who died in 1994; and her three sisters, Olga F. Eckert, Ellen F. Dunnell and Eugenia F. Lombard, who all died in 2000.

Family members include a son, William G. "Bill" Wait Jr. of Camp Hill Village, Copake, N.Y.; a daughter, Ann W. Newell of Hampton; three grandchildren, Sheryl L. N. Kellett of Salem, N.H., John Thomas Newell III of Fairport, N.Y., and Helen M. Newell of North Andover, Mass.; five great-grandchildren, Amy Beth Kellett, Sean Kerry Kellett, Jackie Lombard, Luke Davis Pickard and Jessie Dean Pickard; and several nieces and nephews.

WAIT - Ann F. Wait of 795 Washington Road, Rye, died April 13, 2001. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at Webster at Rye, 785 Washington Road. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The family requests there be no visiting hours and that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the Camp Hill Village Fund, Copake, NY 12516. Private interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery, Queensbury, N.Y. Assistance with arrangements is by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.

Herman C. Ramsdell

OGUNQUIT, Maine - Herman C. Ramsdell, 92, resident of South Main Street, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long illness. He was the husband of Velma Louise (Traves) Ramsdell.

He was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Portsmouth, N.H., a son of Albert and Abby Welch Ramsdell, and attended Ogunquit and Wells schools.

He was employed for 35 years with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a planner and estimator, the last seven years with the Groton, Conn., Navy yard. After his retirement, he worked summers for the town of Ogunquit at the Footbridge and Perkins Cove parking lots.

He and his wife Louise wintered for 17 years in Florida.

He was a life member of the Ogunquit Fire Co., having served for 76 years, and was a past member of the Ocean Lodge No, 142 AF & AM in Wells.

He was predeceased by a son, Sheldon Ramsdell, and a daughter, Shirley Suglia.

In addition to his wife of 69 years, survivors include two sons, Donald A. Ramsdell of South Yarmouth, Mass., and Glen C. Ramsdell of Wells; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

RAMSDELL - Herman C. Ramsdell, 92, of South Main Street, Ogunquit, Maine, husband of Velma Louise Traves Ramsdell, died on April 12, 2001. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2001, at First Parish Cemetery in York, with Al Davis, Kennebunk Fire Department chaplain, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ogunquit Fire Co., P.O. Box 1558, Ogunquit, ME 03907. Arrangements by Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, Maine.

Colleen Marie (O'Connor) Rooney

WEST NEWTON, Mass. - Attorney Colleen Marie (O'Connor) Rooney, 45, of West Newton, formerly of Waltham, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long illness.

Born in Chicago, Ill., she had been a West Newton resident for the past five years, moving there from Waltham, where she had resided for seven years.

She received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois and continued her education at Boston College Law School, where she received her juris doctorate in 1982.

Prior to her illness, Colleen served as a staff counsel for the Massachusetts Judicial Court of Boston; held positions as counsel for the Massachusetts Cable Television Commission, the United States attorney's office in Boston, Harvard defender's office and the Department of Health and Human Services; and worked with the law firms of Hale, Sanderson, Byrnes & Morton; Vena, McNamara & Keefe; and Shand, Morahan & Co. She was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and a teacher of confraternity Christian doctrine for St. Charles Borromeo Church in Waltham.

She was the daughter of the late Maurice O'Connor and the sister of the late M. Joseph O'Connor.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Martin J. Rooney Esq. of West Newton, formerly of Portsmouth, N.H.; her mother, Mary Lee (Condon) O'Connor; her twin brother, Kevin O'Connor of Chicago; brothers and sisters Bridget Weir and Molly Hapner, both of Chicago, Dennis O'Connor of Boulder, Colo., and Nora O'Connor, Timothy O'Connor and Michael O'Connor, all of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.

ROONEY - Attorney Colleen Marie (O'Connor) Rooney of West Newton, Mass., died April 12, 2001. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, Mass., with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St., Waltham. Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated or expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Billie Joanne Moulton

TROUTVILLE, Va. - Billie Joanne Moulton, 68, of Troutville, formerly of Norton Road and Meetinghouse Village in Kittery, Maine, died on Friday, April 13, 2001, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke.

Born April 15, 1932, in Mingo, W.Va., she was a daughter of Grover William and Nellie Jean (Ratliff) Burleson and attended local schools.

She moved to the Seacoast when she was 18 years old, met her husband and settled in Kittery to raise their family. Billie Joanne truly enjoyed raising her large family and in more recent years spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.

She was well known for her marvelous cooking, which she enjoyed doing very much. Bowling on television was never missed, nor was a favorite game of bingo with friends. More recently, she was blessed to have many close friends at Meetinghouse Village in Kittery, where she had lived for the last four years previous to moving closer to her sisters in Virginia six months ago.

She was the wife of Merton Moulton.

In addition to husband, survivors include seven children and their spouses, daughters Cheryl L. and Charles White, Annette M. Boston, Michele L. and Stephen McCarthy, Melissa S. and Jeremy Carlson; and sons Russell J. and Diane Belleville, Frank G. and Cathy Belleville and Dennis Belleville; sisters Maggie Viola McCraw, Victoria Nebraska Norris and Jacqueline Helen Rowe; a brother, Thomas Dencil Burleson; two stepchildren; her former spouse, Frank G. Belleville Jr.; many grand and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Kenneth A. Belleville and a sister, Opal Elizabeth Crosby.

MOULTON - Billie Joanne Moulton, 68, of Troutville, Va., formerly of Kittery, Maine, died April 13, 2001, in Roanoke, Va. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road/U.S. Route 1 Bypass, Kittery. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home.

Edward J. Sherry

EXETER - The funeral for Edward J. Sherry, 74, of Dudley Road, Brentwood, was held Monday from the Stockbridge Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Michael's Church. The Rev. Richard E. St. Louis, associate pastor, was the celebrant. Alter servers were Von DeRosia, Joseph Latour and Al Markey. Organist was Denise Kelly and the soloist was Jennifer Gaines. The pall was placed on the casket by his granddaughters. The readings were by Suzanne Moore. The gifts were presented to the alter by Carol Ann Tynan and Ally Funk. Words of remembrance were offered by Abby Funk and Susan Sherry. Burial followed in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. Pall bearers were Edward Sherry, Donald Manchester, Cliff Chipindale, Matt Funk, Mike Funk and Jack Tynan.

Margaret T. (Biddiscombe) Fenton

HAMPTON - Margaret T. (Biddiscombe) Fenton, 93, of Hampton, formerly of Waltham, Mass., died Monday, April 16, 2001, at home. Born in New Brunswick, Canada, she had lived in Waltham for many years before moving to New Hampshire in 1994. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the Alyce Food Shop in Waltham for many years. In later years, she was an inspector with the Raytheon Company, the Waltham Clevite Company, as well as Lexington Instruments.

She was the wife of the late David B. Fenton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Farraher) Biddiscombe and the mother-in-law of the late Frank Cartwright.

She is survived by her children, Adeline M. French and her husband, Robert, of Ellenton, Fla., David J. Fenton and his wife, Princess, of Waltham, Mass., and Margaret E. "Meg" (Keohane) Cartwright of North Hampton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

FENTON - Margaret T. (Biddiscombe) Fenton, 93, of Hampton, died April 16, 2001. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham, Mass., followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 857 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. In honor of her grandson, Tim Keohane, donations in her memory to AIDS Response-Seacoast, P.O. Box 1524, Portsmouth, NH 03802-1524, would be appreciated.

Dorothea Plaisted

KITTERY, Maine - Dorothea Plaisted, 80, of Rogers Road, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at her home.

Born June 13, 1920, in Medfield, Mass., she was the daughter of George and Sara H. (Fortune) Hughes. She graduated from R.W. Traip Academy in Kittery, Class of 1937.

An active woman, she was involved in the local Mothers Club for more than 60 years. She was a well-known fan of her children and grandchildren in all types of sporting events and attended them frequently.

She was an avid bowler on the Lame Ducks bowling team of Portsmouth, N.H., and was captain of her team for many years. She very much enjoyed time spent with her family at camp in the summer. Bus trips, especially to Foxwoods Casino, were a favorite pastime. She was a cross-country skier and enjoyed walking.

She was a member and volunteer at St. John's Church in Portsmouth.

She will be missed by her family.

She was the wife of the late Charles F. Plaisted, who died in 1979.

Survivors include her children, a daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Frank Toby, of York, Maine; her sons, Richard Plaisted and his wife, Elaine, of Cape Cod, Mass., David Plaisted and his wife, Kristine, of Kennebunk, Maine, and Kenneth Plaisted and his wife, Lynda, of York, Maine; and Stephen Plaisted of Kittery, Maine; a brother, Charles Hughes of Ohio; a sister, Virginia Weaver of York; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, George Hughes.

PLAISTED - Dorothea Plaisted, 80, of Rogers Road, Kittery, Maine, died April 16, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20, at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road/U.S. Route 1 Bypass, Kittery, Maine. Family flowers only. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the York Visiting Nurses Association, 14 Brickyard Lane, York, ME 03909. Arrangements by the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home.
