Mose A. Bellucci

BEDFORD - Mose A. Bellucci, 68, of Bedford died on Friday, July, 27, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born on June 12, 1933, in Portsmouth, he was the son of Mose A. and Santa (Columbo) Bellucci. He resided in Bedford for 30 years.

He graduated from Portsmouth High School and Suffolk University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration. He served in the Navy, and worked as a district sales manager with NCR Corp. for more than 30 years before retiring in 1995.

He was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral.

He was the husband of Denise J. (Collins) Bellucci of Bedford for 39 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Dennis J. Bellucci of Livermore, Calif., and Bruce A. Bellucci of Manchester; a daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Jennifer L.) Ahern of Manchester; seven sisters, Clarice Cooley of Delaware, Madeleine DeGraff of Virginia, Antoinette Littlejohn of Delaware, Doris Cushing of Maine, Josephine Cavallaro of Massachusetts, Gloria Ayotte of New Hampshire and Anne Babkirk of Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

BELLUCCI - Mose A. Bellucci of Bedford died July 27, 2001. Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday in Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord Street, Manchester. Funeral at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cathedral, Manchester. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814; or the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 State Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032. Local courtesy transportation for the calling hours will be provided on request by calling Daniel J. Healy at 622-8223.

Robert F. Keohane

HAMPTON - Robert F. Keohane, 71, of 39 Moulton Road, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the Exeter Hospital.

He was born July 8, 1930, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late William D. and Rosetta G. (Sherrin) Keohane. He was a graduate of Hampton Academy, Class of 1948, and St. Anselm College in Manchester with a bachelor's degree in business management.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He worked in research and development of managing and planning for Wang Laboratories in Lowell for more than 15 years.

A longtime Hampton resident, he was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and was an altar server at the first Mass celebrated there on Christmas Eve 1948. He was a member of Hampton's American Legion Post No. 35.

He was the husband of the late Mary K. (LaCroix) Keohane, who died in 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Steven J. Keohane and Robert W. Keohane, both of Hampton; two daughters, Catherine Giardini-Weydener of Key Largo, Fla., and Kelly A. Perry of Cape Coral, Fla.; four grandchildren, David A. Giardini, Julie M. Giardini, Brian A. Perry and Alexis G. Keohane; one brother, Edward Keohane of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

KEOHANE - Robert F. Keohane, 71, of 39 Moulton Road, Hampton, died July 26, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. If desired, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Stephen Bridwell Rakaseder

PORTSMOUTH - Stephen Bridwell Rakaseder, 34, of Thaxter Road, died on Tuesday in San Jose, Calif., after a valiant and heroic fight against non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He was born February 10, 1967 in Stamford, Conn., and grew up in New Canaan, Conn. He graduated from New Canaan High School in 1985. He is also a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston with a degree in music composition and film scoring.

For several years, Stephen was an independent creative consultant based in Connecticut, where he designed Web site interfaces and multimedia CD-ROMs for Fortune 1000 high technology and financial services clients. In 1998, Stephen and his family moved to Portsmouth to co-found Wunderkind Studios, a full service new media design, development, and communications firm. As Wunderkind Studios chief creative officer, Stephen directed and mentored the design team.

Within the Portsmouth cultural community, Stephen was a driving force in forging Wunderkind's strong ties to The Music Hall, culminating in a pro-bono partnership that resulted in the launch of the new acclaimed Web site this past June. Stephen was also appointed to the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee on the Arts in 1999.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Casey) Rakaseder of Portsmouth; his children, Maximillian and Eliza; his parents, Ronald and Susan Rakaseder of York, Maine; his sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Adam Sweidan of London, England; his grandmother, Anna Rakaseder of Darien, Conn.; his great-aunt, Katherine Dutton of York, Maine; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Elizabeth Cole of Cape Neddick, Maine; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Kristi Samber of Portsmouth; his brother-in-law, Drew Casey of Portsmouth; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

RAKASEDER - Stephen Bridwell Rakaseder, 34, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, in San Jose, Calif., after a fight with cancer. A celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, at his parents home at 22 Old Mast Road, York, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Stephen B. Rakaseder Fund, c/o Bank of New Hampshire, 333 State Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801, (603) 433-2969.

Mrs. Lucy B. Smart

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy B. (Oulton) Smart, 87, of 133 Lincoln Ave., were held Saturday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth. The Rev. Donald Gum, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, officiated. A hymn was sung by the Unitarian Universalist Church choir and a duet was performed by Dottie Sawyer and Diane Frechette.

In attendance were representatives from the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth.

Burial was in Central Cemetery, Rye, with committal services by the Rev. Gum.

Bearers were Thomas P. Smart, Army Maj. Peter H. Smart, Roger Tucker, Mike Coffey, Ken Sawyer and Bill Clifford.

Winfield H. Chick Jr.

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Winfield H. "Chicky" Chick Jr., 95, of 35 Rogers St., were held Saturday from the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, with services held at the North Congregational Church in Market Square. The Rev. Dawn A. Shippee, pastor, officiated. Words of remembrance were given by Paul Elkins. Soloist was Judy Ringer, and Gary MacDonald was organist.

In attendance were members of the church and representatives from the Mark H. Wentworth Home.

Burial was in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, with committal services by the Rev. Shippee.

Bearers were Paul Elkins and Earl Helmbreck.

Harriet Attaya

ROSLINDALE, Mass. - Harriet (Matthews) Attaya, 80, of Roslindale and also of Hampton, N.H., died Friday, July 27, 2001, at home.

She was born in Lake City, S.C., daughter of the late Edward D. and Vashti (Collins) Matthews. She was a resident of Roslindale for 55 years and Hampton for many years.

She was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

She was the wife of the late James W. Attaya.

Survivors include her children, James E. Attaya Jr. and H. Jean Attaya, both of Roslindale, Paul M. Attaya of Rye, N.H., Nancy A. Lynch of Franklin, and Mary DeRosa and Catherine Dougherty, both of West Roxbury; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Elizabeth DeRosa, Salina and Robert Lynch, Abbie-Rose and Sam Attaya, and Connor and Sean Dougherty; great-grandchild, Giulia DeRosa; and sisters, Trudy Kilgo and Naomi Floyd, both of South Carolina.

She was predeceased by siblings S.M. Matthews and Annie Faye Barfield.

ATTAYA - Harriet (Matthews) Attaya, of Roslindale, Mass., and Hampton Beach, died July 27, 2001. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the P.E. Murray - George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury, Mass. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.

John J. Wholey

PORTSMOUTH - John J. Wholey died on Saturday, July 28, 2001, at his home in Portsmouth, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Portsmouth on Nov. 6, 1922, the son of Catherine and Daniel Wholey. A graduate of St. Patrick School, Portsmouth High School, Boston College and Boston College Law School, he was also a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy Air Corps.

He served as city solicitor in 1958, on the Board of Education in 1956-57, the City Council in 1952-55 and 1976-77, and as the assistant mayor in 1960-61, 1972-73 and 1974-75.

He was a member of the Joint Building Committee for Portsmouth High School and its two additions, the addition to Portsmouth Junior High, and the rebuilding of Dondero School.

He worked to institute the Portsmouth Economic Commission, the Portsmouth Housing Authority, and was honored by the NAACP as man of the year.

He was recently honored by the New Hampshire Bar Association as a 50-year member, and retired this past June from Wholey and Pelech Law Office in Portsmouth. He was a member of many local organizations, including the Creek A.C., and took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty; daughters Gail and Shawn Pelech of Portsmouth; grandchildren Cate and John Pelech; a sister, Terri Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, James; and sisters Mary Labranche, Kay Thomits, Honora Goulding and Patricia Harris.

WHOLEY - John J. Wholey, 78, died July 28, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St. Portsmouth. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth. Family flowers only, please. Donations in his memory may be made to the John J. Wholey Scholarship Fund c/o Wholey and Pelech Law Offices, P.O. Box 395, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Karen M. McDonough

HAMPTON - Karen M. McDonough, 44, of 59 Hampton Meadows, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

She was born in Stoneham, Mass., on May 12, 1957, the daughter of Leo C. and Mary (Stanton) McDonough of Seabrook.

She was raised in Malden and Boxford, Mass., and graduated from Maconomet Regional High School in Topsfield, Mass., with the Class of 1975.

She was employed as a flight attendant with US Airways for the past 23 years and was a member of the International Flight Attendants Association.

A communicant of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, she had lived in Hampton the past four years, coming from Stratham.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her best friend of 20 years, Thomas J. Fox of Hampton; one sister, Kathryn A. Hayes and her husband, Michael, of Midland, Texas; a niece, Ellen Hayes; a nephew, Steven Hayes; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

McDONOUGH - Karen M. McDonough, 44, of 59 Hampton Meadows, Hampton, died July 29, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, on Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. After cremation, private interment will be in the High Street Cemetery. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054; or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Edward M. Fleisher

MANCHESTER - Edward M. Fleisher, 73, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at a local nursing facility, following complications from Parkinson's disease.

He was born in Boston on May 29, 1928, the son of the late Kolman and Regina (Langenthal) Fleisher. He had been a resident of Manchester since 1957. He attended Brookline, Mass., High School, then graduated from Cornell University with a degree in engineering. He was treasurer then later became president of Dorson-Fleisher Shoe Company, where he worked for most of his life.

He was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun and had served as president and board member of the Manchester Jewish Community Center. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of SCORE and had been a subscriber to the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra since the time of its inception. A supporter of arts and human services organizations, he worked with the United Way and was a contributer to the Currier Gallery of Art. He was a patron of the N.H. Furniture Masters. His family remembers his enthusiasm for skiing, tennis and dancing.

Members of his family include his wife of 46 years, Hilda (Wallerstein) Fleisher, of Manchester; four children, Leslie (Fleisher) McCarthy and Mark H. Fleisher, both of Portsmouth, Adam R. Fleisher, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Cary J. Fleisher, of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia (Mrs. Philip) Chaplain, of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

FLEISHER - Edward M. Fleisher, 73, of Manchester, died Saturday, July 28, 2001. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Temple Adath Yeshurun, 152 Prospect St. in Manchester. Rabbi Arthur Starr will officiate. Memorial observances will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the family's home, 300 River Road, Apt. 202, in Manchester. In lieu of flowers, it has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to the charity of their choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home, Manchester.

William Richard Cuddihee

HANCOCK - Mr. William Richard Cuddihee, 78, of Forest Road, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at his home.

Born April 4, 1923, in Sharon, he was the son of James and Myrtle Chole (Cook) Cuddihee. He attended schools in Peterborough and graduated from high school in the Class of 1941. He lived in the Sharon, Peterborough, Hancock area all of his life.

He owned and operated his own electrical business for 20 years. Then he worked at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough as head maintenance person.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1943 to 1946.

He wintered in Winter Park, Fla., for 13 years.

He was the husband of Eva Elizabeth (Putnam) Cuddihee, of Hancock, for 54 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Richard Warren Cuddihee of Dublin, N.H.; a daughter, Mary Ann Cuddihee of York, Maine; three grandchildren; two brothers, Gen. James Cuddihee, formerly of Dublin, and Donald Cuddihee of Deland, Fla.; three sisters, Lillian Guptill, Gertrude Young and Pauline Marion, all of Sharon; and several nieces and nephews.

CUDDIHEE - William Richard Cuddihee, of Forest Road, Hancock, died July 26, 2001. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Pine Hill (Middle) Cemetery, Peterborough, with the Rev. F. Daniel Osgood officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the HCS - Home Healthcare (Hospice), P.O. Box 496, Community Lane, Peterborough, NH 03455; or to the charity of one's choice. Holt/Woodbury Funeral and Cremation Services of Peterborough is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anna Morrissey

PORTSMOUTH - Anna Morrissey, 88, of 428 Hanover St., died Friday, July 27, 2001 at her home.

Born Jan. 21, 1913, in Manchester, she was the daughter of Walter and Mary (Zukauskas) Zaremba.

She moved to Portsmouth and met her husband, James E. Morrissey. She lived in Portsmouth for the past 60 years.

She was a registered nurse and worked at Portsmouth Pediatric Associates for many years. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Portsmouth.

She had a great love for gardening, cooking and her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Michael K. Morrissey of Portsmouth and Paul Morrissey of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Sheila Kendall of Greenland; a sister, Frances Morsch; six grandchildren: John Morrissey, Tim Morrissey, Jim Kendall, Susan Guerra, Peter Kendall and Paula Morrissey; and eight great-grandchildren.

MORRISSEY - Anna Frances Morrissey, 88, of Portsmouth, died July 27, 2001. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State St., Portsmouth. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
