Genevieve T. Ekman

Hale's Location - Genevieve T. Ekman, 76, of 13 Fairway Drive, Hale's Location, died June 21, 2000 at Memorial Hospital in North Conway. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 18, 1924, she was the daughter of Hugh and Florence (Gaffney) Farrell.
Prior to her marriage, Ekman was employed by Colonial Airlines as a flight attendant. She leaves behind her family that includes her husband, John B. Ekman; three daughters, Sally Pelletier of Epping, Linda Piazza of Red Bank, N.J. and Susan Ekman of Conway; a son, Brian Ekman of Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is survived by three brothers; Hugh Farrell of Garden City, N.Y., Michael Farrell of Gladstone, N.J. and William Farrell of Candlewood Isle, Conn.; a sister, Margaret Verity of Melville, N.Y. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence Diefenbach of Sarasota, Fla.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Bartlett.

Lorraine N. Garcia

Marlboro, Mass. - Lorraine N. Garcia, 70, of 110 Houghton Street, died on Friday, June 23, 2000 at Westridge Healthcare in Marlboro, Mass. after a short illness. Garcia was born in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Alfred and Hilda (Miron) Belanger.
Garcia, the wife of Raymond J. Garcia for 49 years, worked as a print room coordinator at Gen Rad in Concord, N.H. before retiring. She is survived by five daughters; Sandra Newman of East Douglas, Mass., Paula Genovese of Bow, N.H., Linda Freeman of Holden, Mass., Sheila McCarthy of San Francisco, Calif. and Lisa Sewall of Larkspur, Calif.
She is survived by four brothers; Raymond and Robert Belanger both of Worcester, Mass., Norman and Alfred Belanger both from Leicester, Mass.; two sisters, Theresa Bertrand of Oxford, Mass. and Dolores Belanger of Leicester, Mass. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held on Monday, June 26, 2000 at St. Michael Church in Mass. Her burial was held in Forestvale Cemetery. Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

Wendell R. Eldridge

CENTER OSSIPEE - Wendell R. Eldridge, 61, of Dorrs Corner Road, died June 26, 2000 at his home. A native and lifelong resident of Center Ossipee, he was born Feb. 22, 1939, the son of the late Raymond and Etta Eldridge. He had been employed as a chipper operator for Middleton Building Supply for 29 years. He was a past member of the Center Ossipee Fire Department and had served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Eldridge was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting with his children and sharing family stories with his friends.
He is survived by his wife Brenda (Libby) Eldridge of Center Ossipee and two sons, Tony Eldridge of New Durham and Greg Eldridge of Sanborn; a daughter, Tina Bregg of Alton; two step-daughters Starr Hill of West Ossipee and Kim Grace of Tamworth; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Guy Eldridge, Dennis Eldridge and Robert Eldridge, all of Center Ossipee; three sisters, Elizabeth Frost of Center Ossipee, Mary Seguin of Ossipee and Jeannette Eldridge of Center Ossipee.
Calling hours will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Moultonville Road in Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be on Wed. at 11 a.m. at the Moultonville Methodist Church in Center Ossipee. Burial will be at the Chickville Cemetery in Center Ossipee.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice/VNA of Southern Carroll County, PO Box 1620, Wolfeboro, 03894.

Paul W. Hutchins Sr.

Chocorua - Paul W. Hutchins Sr., 79, formerly of Route 16 in Chocorua, died June 20, 2000 at the Seacoast Healthcare Center in Hampton. He was born Aug. 19, 1921 in Tamworth where he lived for many years. He was the son of the late Walter and Grace (Roberge) Hutchins.
Hutchins was a U.S. World War II veteran. He later operated the Chocorua Esso, and was also a caretaker at Camp Cody in Freedom for many years.
He is survived by three sons; Conrad Hutchins of Gorham, Paul W. Hutchins, Jr. of Conway and Bruce Hutchins of Ruskin, Fla.; one daughter, Linda Frechette of Sun City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a brother, Donald Hutchins of South Tamworth.
At his request, there will be no services. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Tamworth.
Lord Funeral Home in Center Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.

Peter Limmer Jr.

INTERVALE - Peter Limmer Jr. 79, of Intervale, died June 15, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway after a long illness.
A devoted father and husband, he was born in Vachendorf, Bavaria-Germany, the son of Peter Limmer Sr. and Maria (Buecherl) Limmer. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Limmer, in 1997. Peter served with distinction at Roosevelt Field in Amarillo, Texas, and Maxwell Field in Cortland, Ala., and attained the rank of staff sergeant and crew chief of six B-29s in the Strategetic Air Command. After his tour he joined his father in the custom footwear business in Jamaica Plains, Mass. As the family came from the mountains in Germany, they decided to relocate to the Mount Washington Valley in 1950. They purchased the Harmony Acres property and continued the business.
Peter Jr. was active in the community and served on several boards: the Bartlett School Board, the Bartlett Planning Board, board of directors at the Gibson Center, a deacon at the Congregational Church and with the board of the Reverence for Life Center. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts and Civil Air Patrol.
He is survived by his wife Marianne; daughter Anita Collins; son Peter and wife Jeanne Limber; son Erik Limmer; grandchildren Heather and Brian Collins and Trevor and Lucas Limmer; and many friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held today at 10 a.m. at the First Church of Christ Congregational in North Conway. Rev. William Gardiner officiating.

Everett S. Appleby

TAMWORTH - Everett S. Appleby, 97, of Chinook Trail in Tamworth, died June 16, 2000, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
He was born Oct. 19, 1902, in Seekonk, Mass., and lived in Swansea, Mass., for many years. In 1991, he moved to Tamworth to live with his daughter, Miriam Appleby.
He was employed as a controller at Fleet Bank for 50 years.
Mr. Appleby was predeceased by his wife, Berta (Farrington) Appleby. He is survived by is daughter, Miriam Appleby, of Tamworth; a son, Philip Appleby, of Bennington, Vt.; five grandsons; six great grandsons; one great-great granddaughter; and a niece, Laurie Appleby.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services are today, Monday, at 2 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Seekonk Cemetery, Seekonk Mass.

Robert (Bob) F. Dinsmore

SHELBURNE - Robert (Bob) F. Dinsmore, 76, passed away June 15, 2000, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Providence, R.I., on Jan. 25, 1924, the son of Frank L. and Dorothy R. Dinsmore. He grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in l941. He attended the University of Maine (Orono) until enlisting in the Army as part of the Army Specialized Training Program. Attaining the rank of sergeant, he served in the European Theater during World War II, and was wounded in action in France.
Following his Army service, Dinsmore returned to the University of Maine and finished his bachelors and masters degrees in chemical engineering. He was a member and served as a trustee of the Gorham Congregational Church, and recently as the church financial secretary. He was involved with the Boy Scout Council for several years. He retired from Brown Co./James River/Crown Vantage in 1986 as quality control engineer, after working for 37 years.
A long-time resident of Shelburne, Dinsmore served as the tax collector for 16 years. An avid skier, he was one of the founding members of the Gorham Outing Club. He taught skiing at the GOC's rope tow hill in Gorham for many years. Despite Parkinson's disease, and asthma, Bob enjoyed cross-country skiing, bicycling and downhill skiing until his latest illness.
Mr. Dinsmore is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lala J. Dinsmore of Shelburne, a daughter, Sally Dinsmore Baldwin of East Conway; son Page Dinsmore, DVM, of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Amy Rogan, of Wayland, Mass.; a son, Phil Dinsmore, of Port Townsend, Wash.; a brother, Roger Dinsmore, of South Portland, Maine; a sister, Nancy Mudge, of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Jean Fields, of West Hartford, Conn.; five grandchildren, Sam Baldwin of East Conway, Will and Matt Rogan of Wayland, Mass., Hope and Tad Dinsmore of Fort Collins, Colo.; and many niees and nephews.
Bob loved finding the best and most practical ways to get things done. He cherished his family, the mountains, and sailing his small boat at the family camp on Sebago Lake, Maine.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at the Shelburne Union Church. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, friends may send donations to the AVH Home Nursing Service, Berlin, NH, 03570.

Anne V. Smith

North Conway - Anne V. Smith of Echo Acres, North Conway, passed away on June 14, 2000 from natural causes, at the age of 86 at the Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center in North Conway.
Smith (or "Queenie" as she was better known to her friends) moved to North Conway in 1980. She was an avid golfer and loved gardening. She was also well known for her energetic character.
Smith was born and raised in Stamford, Conn. After marrying, she and her husband moved to New Canaan, Conn. where they owned "The Town Pharmacy" for almost 30 years.
After her husband passed away, Smith owned and operated an antique shop in New Canaan for five years and then moved to North Conway to be near her younger son.
Smith is survived by two sons; Warren G. Mattiello of North Conway and Matthew F. Mattiello of New York, N.Y. and a brother, Jerry Vorlick of Summerville, S.C. Services will be privately held by the family in Connecticut.

Bertha (Niemi) Spayd

CHOCORUA - Bertha (Niemi) Spayd , 75, of 60 Chocorua River Drive in Chocorua, died June 14, 2000, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. Spayd was the wife of the late Frank E. Spayd.
Born Nov. 12, 1924, in Gloucester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Marti and Lempi (Mackey) Niemi.
Prior to moving to Chocorua 25 years ago, she had lived in Walpole, Mass. She was a graduate of Peabody School in Norwood, Mass.
Spayd worked for South Shore National Bank in Norwood, Mass., as a bank manager for many years. In Chocorua, she was a very active volunteer with the Friends of the Tamworth Library and the Greater Ossipee Area Chamber of Commerce information booth. She was a lioness with the Mount Whittier Lioness Club and the treasurer of the Chocorua Ski and Beach Association.
Survivors include a son and daughter in-law. James M. Bittick and Martha Malinauskas, and two granddaughters, Meghan Bittick and Barbara Bittick, all from Sykesville, Md.
A memorial service was held Sunday at Saint Andrew's in the Valley Church in Tamworth. Reverend Peg Custer will officiate. Burial followed in the Chocorua Cemetery in Chocorua.
Donations may be made in her memory to Saint Andrew's in the Valley Church or the Tamworth Library.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Tynemouth

LUBEC, Maine - Robert Tynemouth, 81, died May 27, 2000, in Lubec, Maine.
He was born in Blyth, England on Nov. 4, 1918. He served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tynemouth of Lubec; son, Brian Tynemouth and his wife, Suzanne, and daughter, Sarah of Medford , Mass.; daughter, Gail Reardon, and her husband, Donald, of Yarmouth, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in memory of Robert Tynemouth to the Lubec Memorial Library, Lubec, or the Cancer Clinic at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine 04402-0404.
