Joseph Hock

NEWMARKET - Joseph "Alex" Hock, 37, of Bass Street, died April 2, 2002, at his home in Newmarket.

Born Sept. 14, 1964, in Montreal, Canada, he was a son of Johanna (Elek) Hock and the late Sandor J. Hock.

He was a 1983 graduate of Newmarket High School and had attended the University of New Hampshire for one year.

He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1983 and served one enlistment.

For 10 years he was employed at Bavarian Auto Sport in Portsmouth. At the time of his death he was employed as an account manager with Charrette Corp. in Portsmouth.

He lived life to its fullest and enjoyed computer art and a variety of water sports.

He is survived by his mother, Johanna Hock, of Newmarket; his brother, Rudy K. Hock of Newmarket; and one cousin in England.

HOCK - Joseph "Alex" Hock, 37, of Newmarket, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday from the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket, with Wes Burwell, Seacoast Hospice chaplain, officiating. Albert F. Davy Jr.

SANBORNVILLE - Albert F. "Albee" Davy Jr., 62, of 46 Davis Road, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at his home after a sudden illness.

He was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Dover, the son of the late Albert F. Davy Sr. and Dora (LaBranche) Davy. He had resided in Sanbornville for the past 25 years, having previously lived in Dover. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a microphotographer after 30 years. He was a former member of the Cocheco Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf. Among his other interests were hunting, fishing and playing cribbage at the Sunshine Club in Sanbornville.

Members of his family include his wife of 24 years, Cynthia (Weare) Davy of Sanbornville; his children, Bonnie Greaney of Dover, Thomas Goodwin of Dover, and Jeffrey Goodwin of Hampton; seven grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Bourque of Worcester, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

DAVY— Albert F. "Albee" Davy Jr., 62, of Sanbornville, died Monday, April 1, 2002. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Dover. Henry Frechette

KITTERY, Maine - Henry "The Barber" Frechette, 63, of Old Post Road, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at York Hospital.

Born on Feb. 15, 1939, in Whitefield, N.H., he was a son of Felix J. and Mary (Moreau) Frechette.

He graduated from Whitefield High School with the Class of 1957. Upon his graduation he entered the Merchant Marines and served until 1960. He attended Hanson's Barber College in Lewiston and opened his own barber shop. He served several generations of the Kittery Community as a barber and trusted friend to many. Mr. Frechette served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961 until 1967.

He was a member of the Twin State Cruisers and the Maine Obsolete Auto League (MOALS), enjoying frequent rides around town and beyond in his 1968 red SS Camaro convertible. He was also a member of the Maine Barber's Association and a former member of the Lions Club.

In addition to his wife Brenda J. (Call) Frechette of Kittery, he is survived by two stepsons, Kevin Raynes of York and Timothy Raynes Sr. of Kittery; brothers, Paul Frechette of St. Petersburg, Fla., Lawrence Frechette of Whitefield, N.H., Robert Frechette of West Melbourne, Fla., Raymond Frechette of Willits, Calif., Gerard Frechette of St. Louis, Mo., John Frechette of Berlin, N.H., and Michael Frechette of Alfred; sisters, Sister Felix M. Frechette of Hudson, N.H., Jean Frechette of Shrewsbury, Mass., Noella Pay of Rochester, N.H., Sr. Rose Philippne Frechette of Fall River, Mass., Marcelle LeBrun of Sanford, Elizabeth Sullivan of Reading, Mass., and Bernie Duval of Lowell, Mass.; four grandchildren, Timothy Raynes Jr., Natasha Raynes, Amanda Raynes and Abby Raynes; and 32 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Frechette, formerly of East Boston, Mass.

FRECHETTE - Henry Frechette, 63, of Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine, died March 31, 2002, at York Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on April 6, 2002, at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, ME 03904. Family flowers only. Ethel M. Aleksy

HALIFAX, Pa. - Ethel M. Aleksy, 75, of 139 Creek Drive, died April 1, 2002, in Camp Hill, Pa.

She was born in London, England, on Sept. 25, 1926, a daughter of the late Charles and Edith (Moulden) Hurry.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Pennsylvania state Department of Labor and Industry. She was a member of the Pennsylvania state retirees association. She enjoyed ceramics and reading.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard C. Aleksy, who died in 1983.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Aleksy of Halifax, and David Aleksy of Kittery, Maine; a brother, Charles Hurry, and a sister, Edith "Pat" Hurry, both of London, England; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

ALEKSY - Ethel M. Aleksy, 75, of 139 Creek Drive, Halifax, Pa., died April 1, 2002. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Hoover Funeral Homes Inc., Millersburg, Pa. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hoover Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Petresky officiating. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa. June V. Moulton

KITTERY, Maine - June V. Moulton, 88, of Haley Road, died April 2, 2002, at her home. Born in Haverhill Mass., on Sept. 21, 1913, she was a daughter of George and Elizabeth (Shakley) Williams and attended local schools.

She moved to Kittery in her late teens to live with her sister; in Kittery she met her future husband, Elroy S. Moulton Jr. They were married on March 10, 1936, and were happily married for more than 51 years until his passing in November of 1987.

Her life centered on providing her husband and children with not only the important material items necessary for life but also a positive example of how to raise a family and care for one another, a model not only for her children but later in life for her grandchildren, whom she adored. Her caring and compassion for others was always evident by the number of family she cared for while they were ailing or recuperating from illness.

Her family will fondly remember the time she spent with them at camp, on Piper Pond in Abbott Maine, endless hours cooking for her family and time spent supporting them throughout their school career, as a room mother and lunch room volunteer at Mitchell School. A member of the First Christian Church of Kittery Point, she was active in her younger days while her children were growing up; she belonged to the AMICUS Club and the Sewing Bees.

At the young age of 84, she became very active in and enjoyed her time spent working with the Meals on Wheels program in Kittery. One of her favorite pastimes was watching her birds and becoming a knowledgeable bird watcher over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Alley of Kittery; sons David R. and Linda Moulton of Winterport, and Elroy S. Moulton III and his wife, Connie, of Kittery; her grandchildren, Cindy, Julie, Leigh, Sheri, Lisa, Scott, Christopher, Erik, and Sean; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Albert Macfarlane of Jensen Beach, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Moulton of Kittery.

MOULTON - June V. Moulton, 88, of Haley Road, Kittery, Maine, died April 2, 2002, at her home. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2002, from the First Christian Church of Kittery Point, Maine. Family flowers only. Geraldine P. Sheehan

HAMPTON - The funeral for Geraldine P. "Gerry" Sheehan, RN, wife of Raymond F. Sheehan, of 761 Ocean Boulevard, was held Wednesday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. George E. Ham, pastor, was celebrant, assisted by Deacon Paul Testa. Acolytes, all members of the Holy Name Society, were Richard Violet, Gerald Soucy and Laurence Murphy. Jean Goss was organist. Dennis Jacobs was soloist and directed the men's choir. The readings were offered by her sons, Neil and Kevin Sheehan. The gifts were presented to the altar by her grandchildren, Kathleen, Angela and Neil Sheehan. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, with committal prayers by the Rev. Ham. Pallbearers were David Walsh, Pat McAtamney, Thomas McAtamney, Jack Lessard, Philip Fili and Benjamin Caci.

Raymond R. Binette

HAMPTON - The funeral for Raymond R. Binette, of 11 Warner Lane, was held Wednesday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. Michael Griffin, senior priest, was celebrant. Acolytes, all members of the Holy Name Society, were George Glenfield, John Goclowski and Rudy Lavallee. Nelson K. Ward was organist, and Patricia Mackensen was soloist. The pall was extended over the casket by granddaughters Melissa Ajemian and Nicole Scamman, followed by the placement of the crucifix by Katie Scamman. His granddaughters Rebecca Ajemian and Jennifer Leblanc offered the readings, and Jessica Malizia and Courtney Scamman presented the gifts to the altar. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, with committal prayers offered by the Rev. Griffin. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Michael Malizia, Raymond Leblanc, Matthew Ajemian John Binette and Jason Binette.

Donald E. Shapleigh Jr.

PORTSMOUTH - Memorial services for Donald E. Shapleigh Jr., 46, of Portsmouth, were held at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, on Wednesday. The Rev. Donald Gum, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, officiated.

Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Greenland, at a later date.

Sgt. Jack W. Yoho

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Jack W. Yoho, 66, of 15 Shearwater Drive, were held on Saturday at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, Portsmouth. The Rev. Donald Gum, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiated.

Interment was in the N.H. state veterans cemetery columbarium, with committal services by the Rev. Gum.

An honor guard was formed by a detachment from the Hanscom Air Force Base Patriot Honor Guard, including 2nd Lt. Nick Anderson and Senior Airman Cory Lyman.

The American flag was folded and taps was sounded. The flag was then presented to Staff Sgt. Yoho's widow, Joan M. (Currie) Yoho, by 2nd Lt. Anderson.

Kathleen M. Pike

KITTERY, Maine - Kathleen M. Pike, 64, of 4 Dana Ave., formerly of 22 Stimson St., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

She was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on April 21, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Moran) Dixon, and attended local schools. A lifelong resident of Kittery, she was employed at Warren's Lobster House for more than 25 years as a waitress, hostess and assistant manager of the gift shop. She enjoyed the many clients that she was able to meet over the years.

She was a communicant of St. Raphael Parish in Kittery.

Her first love was her family, and she cherished the time she spent with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed. She was an avid gardener and raised her own vegetables.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Charles Denault of Kittery; her grandchildren, Camie Lee Denault and Charles Denault III; and her former husband and dear friend, William C. Pike of Kittery.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Dixon, in 1979.

PIKE - Kathleen M. Pike, of Dana Ave., in Kittery, Maine, died April 2, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2002, at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2002, from St. Raphael Parish Church on Whipple Road in Kittery. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot, Maine. Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in her memory to the Seacoast Cancer Center c/o Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, 789 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820. Pierre F. Matel

BLOOMSBURY, N.J. - Pierre F. Matel, 71, of Route 579, Bloomsbury died Sunday, March 31 in Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.

He was a Manager in the Repair Department with Koh-I-Noor/Mont Blanc in Bloomsbury before retiring.

Born in Lorient, France on April 25, 1930 he was the son of the late Louise Matel.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He served in the French Army.

He was the former president of Alliance Francaise in Bethlehem, Pa., and a member of the Lehigh Valley Saenger Bund in Allentown, Pa. He was an avid history buff. He was also an avid camper and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

He and his wife, the former Gudrun Lichti observed their 41st wedding anniversary on January 21.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son Didier of Hampton Falls, N.H. and two grandchildren.

MATEL - Pierre F. Matel, 71, of Route 579, Bloomsbury, N.J., died Sunday, March 31, 2002. Memorial services will be held Sunday April 14, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Old Chapel At Central Moravian Church Main and W. Church Streets, Heckewelder Place, Bethlehem, Pa. Arrangements are by the Rush-Devlin Funeral Home, 42 Church Street, Bloomsbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Bloomsbury Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 22, Bloomsbury, NJ 08804.

Arthur S. Corey

NORTH HAMPTON - The funeral for Arthur S. Corey, 86, of 203 Lafayette Road, was held Friday from the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach. The Rev. Maurice D. Lavigne, pastor, was the celebrant. Marjorie Scully was the organist and Mary Lou Arcidi was the soloist. The readings were offered by Salvatore DeVincenzo. Burial was in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H. Pallbearers were Kenneth Corey, Christopher Whitehill, Richard S. Corey, Carl Peart.

Kathleen M. Pike

Elizabeth M. Cronin

RYE - Elizabeth M. Cronin, of Rye died Friday, April 5, 2002 at her home.

She was born in Arlington, Mass., the daughter of the late Charles A. and Gertrude (Quigley) McCarthy, was a graduate of Arlington High School and attended the Pierce School in Boston.

With her late husband William J. Cronin, D.M.D. who died in 1989, she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary in their home dental office on Church Street in Dedham, Mass. for many years. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the Arthur D. Little Company of Cambridge, Mass.

Mrs. Cronin was a longtime seasonal resident of Rye enjoying her summers here since 1964 and made her home here year-round in 1989. She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach and former communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dedham.

She was active with her husband's Alumni Association at Boston College and was an avid gardener and volunteer at Fuller Gardens in Rye Beach. She was also a member and former treasurer of the Rye Driftwood Garden Club, and belonged to the Rye Over 55 Club and the Rusty Hinges Club.

Family members include two sons, William J. Cronin Jr. and his fiancée Lorraine Delisle of Portsmouth, Charles F. Cronin and his wife, Sharon, of Lunenburg, Mass.; one daughter, Tara C. Mickela and her husband, Peter, of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Matthew C. Cronin, Alexandra Cronin, Tristan Cronin, Molly Mickela and Meghan Mickela; one brother, Vincent McCarthy and his wife, Christine, of Lexington, Mass.; one sister, Ruth McCarthy of Arlington, Mass.; nieces and nephews.

CRONIN - Elizabeth M. Cronin of Rye, died April 5, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach, Monday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth. His granddaughters, Rebecca Ajemian and Jennifer Leblanc offered the Readings and Jessica Malizia and Courtney Scamman presented the Gifts to the Altar. Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, with committal prayers offered by Father Griffin. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Michael Malizia, Paul Malizia, Raymond Leblanc, Matthew Ajemian, John Binette and Jason Binette. Personnel from the U.S. Marine Corps folded the United States Flag, which draped the casket and presented it to his widow, Barbara-Ellen (Walsh) Binette.

CRONIN - Elizabeth M. Cronin of Rye died April 5, 2002. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach, Monday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, today (Sunday) from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth. Jerome E. "Jerry" McCue

PORTSMOUTH - Jerome E. "Jerry" McCue, 66, a resident of the Edgewood Centre since 1997, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

He was born in Chicago on Dec. 4, 1935, the son of the late James and Cecelia (O'Malley) McCue. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1981 with more than 20 years of service. He was stationed out of San Diego, Calif., for most of his career, and after his retirement, he resided there before moving to Portsmouth to be near his daughters. Mr. McCue was an avid sports fan who enjoyed baseball, football and fishing. He proudly shared his memories growing up in Chicago and his time in the Navy. He was happiest when spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed life and will be greatly missed by those he loved.

Family members include two daughters, Sharon M. Blizniak and her husband Ted of Enfield, Ct., Maureen M. Hazell of Greenland; three grandchildren, Christopher Blizniak, Katherine Hazell and Jennifer Hazell; one brother, James McCue and his wife Mary of Iowa City, Iowa; and one sister, Jeanne Guttosch of Evanston, Ill.

McCUE - Jerome E. "Jerry" McCue, 66, of Portsmouth died April 5, 2002. Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday in the Proprietors Burying Ground on South Street, Portsmouth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. A memorial service, to be announced at a later date, will also be held. Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Henry Frechette

KITTERY, Maine - A memorial service was held for Henry "The Barber" Frechette, who died March 31, 2002, in York, Maine. The service was held at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home in Kittery, where, for more than 43 years, Henry served so many as the local barber. The service was officiated by the Rev. Real Nadeau of St. Raphael Parish Church in Kittery. Words of remembrance were offered on behalf of the family by his nephew, Brian LeBrun. In attendance were many of Henry's family, customers and friends, as well as members of his auto club. His favorite 1968 Camero SS Convertible was parked at the entry for all to see and enjoy as they entered. All were invited to a time of remembrance and sharing at Henry and Brenda Frechette's home.

Buff Durr

HAMPTON - A memorial service for Buff Durr of Ocean Boulevard, who died March 10, 2002, was held Sunday in the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Carroll C. Moore officiated. Mary Oliver was organist, and Marilyn Tilbury was soloist. Words of remembrance were offered by her daughter, Susan Durr-Brenan, and granddaughter, Megan A. Brenan. Arrangements were by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory.
