Alicia N. Whin

PORTSMOUTH - Alicia N. Whin, 76, of 928 South St., died June 27, 2002. She was born in Revere, Mass., on Sept. 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Harry and Rose (Fields) Whin. She was formerly employed as a secretary at Sprague Energy. Survivors include a brother, Woodrow Whin; and a sister, Priscilla Whin.

Angelina P. Noto

PORTSMOUTH - Funeral services for Angelina P. Noto, 81, of Diamond Drive, were held Saturday, June 29, 2002.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church by Monsignor Lawrence Burns. Acolytes were Ed Shea, Ryan Gilbert and Josh Gilbert. Organist was Maureen Sheehan.

Words of remembrance by the family were read by Monsignor Burns.

Burial was in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery, with Monsignor Burns conducting the committal.

Pallbearers were John O’Connell, Michael O’Connell, Joseph Markie, Tom Lebel and Kevin Donlon.

Glenn C. McIntire

YORK, Maine - Glenn C. McIntire, 81, of 171 Beech Ridge Road, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at his residence.

He was born on July 30, 1920, in York, the son of Claude A. and Etta (Pratt) McIntire, and was a 1938 graduate of York High School.

He served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy during World War II.

He had been a foreman for Iafolla Construction Company of Portsmouth and worked for the Pease Air Force Base Public Works Department for many years. He later became foreman of Shop 02 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1982 after 22 years.

He operated the McIntire Farm for many years and operated the McIntire Christmas Tree Farm, which he began in 1968 with his son Gary.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, John F. Hill Grange of Eliot and was a 49-year member of St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge.

He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Brownfield, Maine, and wintered in Haines City, Fla., for 14 years. He enjoyed caring for his dog Buddy. He was an avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed fishing and traveling the back roads of Maine. He and his wife, Frances, had just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in May.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah McIntire, who died in 1948; a granddaughter, Sarah McIntire, who died in 1973; and his nephew Robert McIntire, who died in 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Frances M. (Blaisdell) McIntire of York; two sons, Gary R. McIntire and his wife, Julie, of York, and Wayne McIntire and his wife, Judy, of York; one daughter, Suzanne Woodbury and her husband, Chester, of York; eight grandchildren, Evan, Ian, Cameron and Jonathan McIntire, Kate and Meredith Woodbury, Lisa Patterson, and Stephanie Collier; and several nieces and nephews.

McINTIRE - Glenn C. McIntire, 81, of Beech Ridge Road, York, Maine, died July 2, 2002, in York. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Interment will be in First Parish Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services by St. Aspinquid Lodge are set for 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the York Hospital Home Care, 15 Hospital Drive, York; or to the York Volunteer Ambulance, P.O. Box 238, York, ME 03909.

Alice Gauron

HAMPTON BEACH - Alice Gauron, 78, of 1 Ocean Boulevard, died Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2002, at the Seacoast Health Center, Lafayette Road, Hampton, following a period of decline.

She was born in Ipswich, Mass., on April 29, 1924, a daughter of the late Felix and Pauline (Blinko) Semacko. Educated on the North Shore, she graduated from Burdette College. She moved to the Seacoast some 60 years ago, settling in Hampton Beach. She met and married the late Alfred F. Gauron, and together they founded Al Gauron Deep Sea Fishing more than 50 years ago. Their children, as they matured, joined their parents in the operations of the fishing fleet, and as a family they truly ran a successfu* family business." "Mrs. G." remained active in the business until just a few seasons ago, until she was no longer able. Hardworking, she was a fixture, always out in front, continuing to sell tickets for the party boats, involving herself daily.

Generous to a fault, she spoiled her family. She loved shopping and reveled in beautiful clothes and opulent adornments.

The widow of Alfred F. Gauron, she is survived by her four sons, Alfred and his wife Geri, Gregory and his wife Denise, Mark and his wife Patricia, and Edmund; her seven grandchildren, Derek Gauron, April (Mrs. Michael) Nichol, Angel Gauron-Gould (Mrs. Clayton Gould), Gregory Gauron Jr., and Corey, Kelsey and Casey Gauron; one great-grandchild, Jayden Nichol; her two sisters, Mary Greene and Joanne Albero; and her brother, Edward Semacko.

GAURON - Alice Gauron, 78, of 1 Ocean Boulevard, Hampton Beach, died July 2, 2002, at Seacoast Health Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2002, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Lafayette Road, Hampton. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton. Interment will be in the family lot in High Street Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home.

G. Michael Keohan

EXETER - G. Michael Keohan, 29, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, of a brain tumor at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, after lengthy treatments at the New England Medical Center, Boston, Mass.

Born Gonzalo Michael on Feb. 24, 1973, in Colombia, South America, he came to his adoptive family, the Keohans, in 1976.

He was a real estate agent in his family’s real estate agency in Hampton Falls and became well known in the local real estate community for his warmth and kindness as well as his competence and skill.

His skills extended to skiing, photography and graphic arts.

Family members include his parents, Ann and Peter Keohan of Hampton Falls; his beloved sister, Maria Keohan of Exeter; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

KEOHAN - G. Michael Keohan, of Exeter, died Sunday, June 30, 2002. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. A reception will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the family home, 1 River Road, Hampton Falls.

Richard George Farnsworth

YORK, Maine - Richard George Farnsworth, 69, of York River Farms, husband of Carol (Fenton) Farnsworth, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at York Hospital.

He was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Bangor, son of George and Eula (Butler) Farnsworth, and graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. He received a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maine in Orono, and furthered his education at the Creative Engineering Studies in Schenectady, N.Y.

He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, and was a member of the Naval Reserve until 1959.

He retired from General Electric Co. in Somersworth, N.H., in 1994 after 35 years of service. As an electrical engineer and inventor, he was the recipient of several pattern application awards.

He was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in York and had served for several years as its clerk. He was the treasurer of G.E. "Genhar" Retirees Association and was a volunteer at York Hospital. For many years, he was a member of the York Appeals Board.

He enjoyed RV motor homing across the country. Winters were spent at "The Great Outdoors" RV park in Titusville, Fla., where he was involved in many park activities including the Natire Committee, beautification of the park, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. He also organized the horseshoe league.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, survivors include his daughter, Tracy Ritzo of Rye, N.H.; two sons, Mark Farnsworth of Aiea, Hawaii, and Todd Farnsworth of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Jean Tenney of Gardiner; and three grandchildren of Rye.

FARNSWORTH - Richard Farnsworth of York River Farms, York, Maine, died July 3, 2002, at York Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Parish Congregational Church, York Street, York. There are no visiting hours, and interment will be private. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to either the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094; or the First Parish Congregational Church, 180 York St., York, ME 03909. Arrangements by the Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, York.

Leona H. Dupre

EXETER. - Leona H. (Cote) Dupre, 94, formerly a resident of Harvard Street for 40 years, died on Friday, July 5, 2002, at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, N.H., after a long illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1907, in Exeter, N.H., daughter of the late Joseph and Lora (Arnold) Cote.

She was a lifelong resident of Exeter. She did housekeeping work for several families in Exeter and also worked for six years at the Wise Shoe Company.

She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church of Exeter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lucien Dupre, who died in 1955, and by her son, Phillip Dupre.

Mrs. Dupre is survived by one son, Roger W. Dupre, of Strafford, N.H.; five grandchildren; one sister, Delia Gerard of Newton, N.H.; nieces and nephews.

DUPRE - Leona H. (Cote) Dupre, 94, a former resident of Exeter, N.H., died July 5, 2002. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, at the Exeter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 10 Ferry St., Suite 419, Concord, NH 03301. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, is handling the arrangements.

James M. Lawrence

EPPING - James M. Lawrence Sr., 64, of Epping, formerly of Groton, Mass., died on July 2, 2002, at Exeter Healthcare.

He was born in Ayer, Mass., on July 24, 1937, son of the late Thomas and Helen (Yapp) Lawrence.

He was a graduate of Groton High School and received a degree in horticulture from the University of Massachusetts in Stockbridge.

Mr. Lawrence served in the Air Force from 1957-1971. He worked for Insco Inc. in Groton for several years and later owned and operated Lawrence Florist for 10 years.

Jim has made his home in Groton for most of his life and was a member of the First Parish Unitarian Church in Groton.

He was also a member of the Major General John Sullivan Masonic Lodge No. 2 in Epping, N.H.

He was predeceased by his wife, Christine (Forrest) Lawrence, who died in 1997.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by three children, James and his wife, Linda Lawrence Jr., of Epping, N.H., Jennifer and her husband, Drake Thompson, of Bedford, N.H., and Kathryn and her husband, David Mylott, of Epping, N.H.; two brothers, Douglas Lawrence of Lowell, Thomas Lawrence of West Groton, Mass.; a sister, Brenda Walantis of Falmouth, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

LAWRENCE - James M. Lawrence Sr., 64, of Epping, N.H., formerly of Groton, Mass., died July 2, 2002. There will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m., at Groton Cemetery. Badger Funeral Home, Groton, is in charge of arrangements.

Edward E. Elkins

HAMPTON - The funeral for Edward E. Elkins, 88, formerly of Hampton, who died July 1, 2002, was held Friday from the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory. Graveside services were conducted in the High Street Cemetery. The Rev. Carroll Moore pastor of the United Methodist Church officiated. Among those in attendance was a large delegation from the Hampton’s American Legion Post 35 led by Commander Ralph Fatello. Post 35 Chaplain John M. Holman offered a prayer. Taps was sounded and the U.S. flag that covered the casket was folded by a detachment of Army personnel from Fort Drum, N.Y. and presented to longtime friend Patricia R. Simons.

Bertha Martell

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Bertha Martell, 86, of St. Petersburg, died June 8, 2002, at St. Petersburg General Hospital.

Mrs. Martell was born June 15, 1915, in Putnam, Conn., to the late Harvey and Carrie Lowell Tourtellotte. She lived in Portsmouth, N.H., for many years before going to St. Petersburg in 1961.

She worked at Webb City and retired as a telephone operator for GTE.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Martell, in 1997.

Mrs. Martell is survived by three daughters, Joan Fulcher of Wells, Maine, Jean Evans of New Castle, Pa., and Mildred McCollam of St. Petersburg; two sons, Albert Martell of St. Petersburg and Allen "Lee" of New Castle, Pa; a sister, Edith Childs of Sebring, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine Ann, in 1951; granddaughter, Patti McCollam, in 1994; two brothers, Roy Tourtellotte, in 1979, and Ralph Tourtellotte in 1994.

Private funeral services were held for family and close friends at the Blount, Curry and Roel Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with Monsignor Bolger who officiated and offered prayers.

Dianne D. Beauvais

HAMPTON - Dianne D. Beauvais, 56, of 16 Morrill Drive, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born Sept. 24, 1945, in Newburyport, Mass., the daughter of Charles B. and Alta P. (Sargent) Wright Sr. of Seabrook. She attended Seabrook schools and was a 1963 graduate of Winnacunnet High School in Hampton.

She resided in Seabrook most of her life before moving to Hampton in 2000.

In recent years, she worked as a private duty housekeeper and health aide. For many years, she operated a home cleaning service and had worked for the Hampton Motor Inn during the late 1970s and 1980s. During the 1960s and 1970s, she worked for the former Welpro Shoe Co. in Seabrook.

In addition to her parents, survivors include a son, Herbert W. Marshall Jr. of Salisbury, Mass.; two daughters, Brenda Lee Marshall and Georgia Gail Marshall, both of Seabrook; two grandchildren, Crystal Lee Frost and Kevin Aron Marshall; three brothers, Charles B. Wright Jr. of Seabrook Beach, and Robert F. Wright and Richard A. Wright, both of Seabrook; two sisters, Grace D. Graves of Ipswich, Mass., and Lavinia A. Hill of Seabrook; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Alta P. Wright, who died in infancy.

BEAUVAIS - Dianne D. Beauvais, 56, of 16 Morrill Drive, Hampton, died July 4, 2002. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Rand Memorial Church, South Main Street, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 3 to 5 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hillside Cemetery.

G. Michael Keohan

EXETER - The funeral for G. Michael Keohan, 29, of 25 Hampton Road, was held Saturday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. The Rev. James Degnan, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, Hopkinton, Mass., officiated.

The readings were by Thomas Cotter, Mary Lou Keohan and Carl Wise. Words of remembrance were offered by Maria Keohan, Peter Keohan and Kathy Nuggent.

Burial followed in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton, with the rite of committal by Father Degnan.

Christopher P. Lamb

WORCESTER, Mass. - Christopher P. Lamb, 32, of 20 Benson Ave., and a former resident of Plaistow, N.H., died Friday, July 5, 2002, at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester from complications of muscular dystrophy.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Plaistow, where he attended the Pollard School and was a member of the Timberlane Regional High School, Class of 1988. As a young man, he was a member of the Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow and the Lone Tree Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

A resident of Worcester the past 13 years, he attended Quinsigamond College and was presently enrolled as a junior at Worcester State College working toward his degree in English. He enjoyed painting as a younger man, and presently enjoyed writing and the computer. He was a member of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and an active advocate for those suffering the disease.

Survivors include his parents, Paul D. Jr. and Phyllis (Sheehan) Lamb of North Hampton, N.H.; a brother, Paul D. Lamb III, and three sisters, Nicole R. Osborne, Julie A. Lamb and Yolanda Gonzalez, all of North Hampton; paternal grandfather Paul D. Lamb Sr. of Melrose; maternal grandmother Pauline Sheehan of Effingham, N.H.; a niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

LAMB - Christopher P. Lamb, 32, of Worcester, Mass., formerly of Plaistow, N.H., died July 5, 2002. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow. His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Plaistow. Burial will be in Plaistow Cemetery.
